    Amazing with desires

I truly love this camera, however this camera leaves much to be desired. I recently bought this camera after having a Canon 70D for a couple of years. Figured it was about time for an upgrade. The build quality is amazing and feels much heavier and sturdier than my previous 70D. The frame rate is also a lot higher for those quick photos for sports and wildlife and I believe that is where the story ends for this camera in terms of who it is for. The lack of articulating screen, Touch Enable, in body wifi is what was left to be desired. You of course are able to still take this camera on jobs such as weddings, graduations, etc but without those other features that the lesser 70D has... well it makes you wonder if you should have just stuck to the already amazing 70D or go even higher with a full frame 5D series.

After much research and reviews I decided to upgrade from my Canon 80D. Accurate focusing and 10 FPS burst rate is incredible.

    Better than Expected

I purchased this camera to be a backup to my 5DMarkIV. I am a professional and am behind a camera 6 and sometimes 7 days a week. I wanted a crop sensor with fast fps mostly for birding, which is the hobby to my job. My first two-three days I was actually considering sending the camera back. See I've used a 5DmarkIV and a 1DX2 for the past 2-3 years, and the 7D just wasn't cutting it for me. I wasn't pleased with focus and photos weren't looking the way they did on my other camera bodies. So I purchased a program called foCal and microadjusted my lenses and have been happy ever since. My 100-400L-ii lens was off by -15 points in the micro adjust. So I say this to anybody considering the camera, be prepared to possibly make some micro adjustments. Yes the body is a few years old now and I'm sure a 7dMarkiii will drop any time now, but for now, the 7DII is an amazing body.

    Upgrading from Canon Rebel t5i

Well made camera with all the options a serious birder could want. There is no doubt that this is the best camera for auto focus tracking of wildlife. I use it almost exclusively for bird watching, though it is just as capable with still images such as my flower garden. Just be VERY PREPARED for the camera you are buying IF you are a casual photographer. This is not as easy to use as a rebel model, which I highly recommend to beginners. To get the most from this camera you need to read manuals, do field tests and see what modes are good for you, in addition to understanding all the basic principles of aperature, shutter speed, iso etc. The problem I struggled with the hardest is that there is no SPORTS MODE which was present on the canon rebel models. This made the transition for birding rough on me. The problem with the intelligent auto setting, after setting it to continuously take photos not one at a time, was that it was not comparable to the auto settings on rebels. The pictures are sometimes blurry, not due to it's decision about shutter speed, but actually due to the aperture decisions. Which means WING BLUR GALORE! While I get more in-focus shots and quicker tracking of my moving target, while a bird is flying the outer edges of their wings become out of focus - not because they are moving too fast, but because of the shallow depth of field the AI has decided on. You will have to apply custom settings, in a dial mode made just for you, to be able to get the pictures you want. Which means you'll have to understand how to apply and adjust all those settings as needed. If you're just starting out, this can be daunting and time consuming. Other than that, it's a heck of a camera.

Can’t believe I purchased this camera being the fact it was released in Late 2014. 3 years later this camera can still hold its own. You want to shoot at 10 fps? You can along with 65 focus points with dual image processors. It just feels right in my hands. This is coming from a Nikon shooter - started with D40, D90, D600 before selling it all a few years back. With wanting to go back to DLSR (currently just use trusty SonyRX100 III) I did a lot of research and decided on this camera against Nikon D500 which on paper has much much more. I don’t think I could have gone wrong with either, it came down to the feel in my hands (and price). I’m sure Canon will release something that will replace this gem in 2018, I just don’t want to wait and also spend premium for latest and greatest that will run well over $2k. I’m sure a lot of nikonians out there will eat my review alive, but I can’t help it. I switched.

I wanted to purchase one of mark edition cameras and this one is great. The pictures come out beautifully and its pretty fast for fast shooting of birds or animals. It weighs little more than other cameras but I actually enjoy that vs. a lightweight cheap feeling camera. Wouldn't change it for another camera. Definitely a must buy!!

The features that sold me: weather sealed titanium body and shutter speeds to 10 per second. I use for macro photography a lot. Canon has a lot of great lenses that pair well with this camera.

Havent used it in the field.. It is a little heavier but already can tell it will be worth the extra weight. One shock was that it uses the larger photo card, Must have been a surprise to the salesman because he sold me a small photo card!

All controls are easy to learn. The focusing system is superb. ISO limits are great but you do get noise at 6400 and above. I like how all settings can be seen through the viewfinder

I recently bought this camera body for the higher FPS because I was specifically planning on doing wildlife photography with this body. Let me tell you it did not disappoint. I am able to get stunning photos using this camera body along with the canon lenses and would suggest this to anyone.

This is my second camera of this model. I find this is a great camera for wildlife photography including birds in flight. I have also used it for sports photography and fireworks and it is more than capable of doing the job.

I love this camera, Photography, for me is just a hobby. But I strive to challenge myself and improve with each time I head out. This camera is perfect for me I spend a lot of time hiking and taking wildlife photos and the reviews I read put this camera at the top of all the others. I can see why, I only wish I purchased this camera sooner, there's a few pictures I have taken in the past that I think would have come out a lot better with this cameras abilities.

I have the 7d and a few other none full frame as well as full frame cameras. For this i was just looking to replace the 7d and not go with anfull frame. Its a great upgrade from a middle of the road eos if you are looking. If you want a realy nice cropped sensor but dont wanna jump to full frame yet and dont mind the weight its amazing. If you need soeed this is a must have as well. It holds liw light with a good prime nice as well.

I’ve been using this camera for almost two years and I’m still in love with it. I was saving up for the EOS 5D Mark IV but couldn’t wait to a have a camera in my hand. So I got this one instead the EOS 7D Mark II and is actually my first camera. Looking to get more lenses and might do an upgrade later in the future. But for now I’m sticking with this one.

This is an incredible camera. Purchased because of recommendations of its abilities re; moving subjects. Because this fits the description of my kids and their sporting events, I spent the extra $$ for this camera and I'm glad I did. Our recent vacation trip was spent seeing if I could get photos of a moving target - a kid who ran away from every picture. Many great shots still captured despite his efforts to run out of the photos. Excellent portraits.
