This camera takes great pictures. Bought for sports and shot some at a basketball game. They came out great.

My first digital SLR was the Canon Digital Rebel (300D). Lots of soccer pics, family gatherings, vacations, and some long-exposure night shots. At 6.3 MP, it was great! Fast forward 11 years. I LOVE my 7D Mark II. I'd been waiting for the 7D refresh, and the full range of features sold me. 20+ Mpix, extended ISO ranges, improved low noise, 65 auto-focus points, and even a built-in intervalometer - which I'll use for time-lapse and star-trail photos. My new adventure has begun!

I love this new camera but it does have its quirks... I have noticed that it does have some AF issues some of the time depending which features you use on it. I happens very very few times to even bother mentioning. I have read that only certain ones have this problem and maybe I just got one of them?? Who know, right? The new firmware update has come out a couple of days ago to fix these issues and surely it will. I haven't updated yet but for the most part this camera is really good and fast. I am not unhappy at all with the purchase... just expecting a tiny bit more for the price.

I jumped up to this camera from a rebel 2ti and had no problems adapting. The sales person on the floor was fantastic. He had lots of personal knowledge about this camera, including lenses, lighting situations, speed, etc.

This is my second DSLR camera. I started shooting with the 5D Mark III and then switched to the 7D. Honestly there isn't much that I miss from having the full frame camera to this model. They are both great! The only down side to these models are the weight, it can get a bit heavy if you are shooting for several hours.

Excellent camera but not for beginners!

If you are someone who has used a DSLR camera previously and want to upgrade to a great camera under $2000, then this is really an excellent camera to choose. If you are a beginner, choose something else! This camera has lots of features that are customizable and only if you've been in situations where you'd need those features, could you really properly customize it. For example, the focusing capabilities are exceptional in this camera. However, there are five different focusing modes and you can flip between them while you are shooting. The button to "flip through" those modes has to be customized. Get the drift...!! If you just want to get a camera for traveling and shooting in automatic mode....get a Canon T6i...if you want a workhorse camera in your gear, then get the 7D Mark II.

Camera itself is great, taken some really good shots of my 11 month old. The one comment I have is auto mode is not as good as some cheaper models, so I find myself using A+ or full manual mode but these require constant tweaking of the settings.
