Print Quality (4.5 out of 5): Great print quality even with small font size. Produces good color or grey scale photos, and good presentation printouts. Print speed is as specified (around 22 ppm for black), but when I tried to print a large report with a couple of hundred pages, the device struggled a lot to finish the job. After every 30/40 pages the machine takes rest for 2-4 minutes to cool down. This is not a heavy-duty printer, and it is for home use only.
Print Cost (4.5 out of 5): Similar models of Brother printer costs less in printing, but this canon device is not bad. The standard black toner costs around 4c per page while the high yield toner can cost less than 2.5c per page in eco mode. The standard black toner that came with the printer was able to print 1700+ pages, and a new high yield toner cartridge (Canon 054h XL black) that I purchased later was able to print 3500+ pages in eco mode. It is annoying that the printer shows low ink warning once ink level gets below 50%, and with this warning I was able to print around 1500 more pages full of text in eco mode. The warning simply does not make any sense. So, forget about the warning and keep printing.
Scan (3 out of 5): With max resolution of 600X600, the scan quality is not impressive- both with the flat-bed scanner or with the auto document feeder (ADF). I was able to set the resolution to 1200X600 from the remote manager, but scan quality did not improve much. Scanned fonts come out dull and not sharp. Good thing- the auto feeder can hold 50 sheets (letter or legal) and can scan both sides in a single pass with a good speed. It is okay for day to day scanning, but for sensitive official documents I still prefer some scanner app installed on my android phone. Unlike these apps, the scanning software included with this Canon printer does not have any post-processing intelligence. Lastly, the flat-bed scanner portion is unnecessarily 3 inches thick (compared to HP MFP M428fwd or M283fdw)- making the device look large on my desk.
Copy (5 out of 5): Fast and crisp print, both from flat-bed scanner or from ADF. ADF can print both sides in single pass pretty fast. ID card copying is also good.
Email, Fax (4 out of 5): It’s a relief that hard copies can directly go into your email directly from the printer. But the setup process is not easy, and may require an expert hand. I haven’t tried fax.
Setup and Connectivity (4 out of 5): Software and Wi-Fi setup are straight forward. Printer quickly wakes up from sleep once command is sent to printer through Wi-Fi. The remote manager is a great help, with which you can use your web browser from your computer to remotely monitor ink levels, see usage logs (for print, scan, mail or fax), and control all different settings without touching the printer itself. That’s something cool!
Touch Display (3 out of 5): LCD touch screen is not sensitive, most of the time I have to touch twice or press hard for the same action, the user interface on the LCD screen is not well-organized, and some of the very common settings are not readily available. However, you can customize some of it from remote manager.
Overall (4 out of 5): With less than 300$ budget, if you are looking for professional quality printing in black, decent color print, Wi-Fi and email connectivity, and average scan quality- everything of office in a single home device, you should get this. I am happy with the purchase.

Nice All-In-One Printer/Copier

Found I needed to replace an old Brother Color Laser Printer I had for over 10 years... it apparently didn't like the newest Windows 10 update. Besides, it was time.
I have used a B/W Canon All-In-One recently and really liked it, so I decided to buy the MF 644... primarily because it fits in the Printer slide out cabinet in my desk. Tight, but it fits.
Out of the box set-up was easy. But the driver set-up is not real intuitive so you really need to follow the instructions closely. After I had the printer up and running (USB connection to my desktop) I set up the wireless connections to my laptop and handheld devices. I found downloading the Canon Printer app to my phone and tablet made connection hassle free. Again... follow the instructions.
The printer is not fast but fast enough for home office use. The copy function was easy and the copies were clear and neat. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. Having a fully functional "All-in-One" office machine that fits my needs and my "space" is nice.
The added bonus was getting a price match and saved $80.
Thanks Best Buy for taking care of that.

This printer does exactly what i expected it to do. Set up was fairly simple and the quality of the prints is above average. I am not sure how well it will stand up to large volume printing as i so not print large quatites. But it does what i need it to.

This is the first canon printer I have owned after decades of being an HP user. I finally gave up on HP because of bad customer service and printers that were not reliable and always seemed to have a bug in the drivers. Things that I love about this printer are that it is really fast on both printing and scanning, even when using double sided. Print quality comes out great. My only two minor comments are that 1) sometimes documents in the feeder come slightly askew when using the sheet feeder. Not frequent or bad, Just mildly annoying. 2) I wish the settings on the scan software were on the scan screen vs. buried in a settings menu. For example, to name a file something specific you need to go to the settings menu. However if you don't change it back, all future scans have the same file name. Same with setting double sided scans. At least these two should be on the top screen. Otherwise, a great product.

I was tired of messing with the printer every time I needed to print something. We don't use the printer very often, but when I do, I need it to work. We have been through about 4 ink jet printers over the years and many $$ on cartridges. Every time I would print, I would have to re-print because the heads needed cleaned or something else was wrong. So far with this Laser, it has not had any issues.
With the kids in school, I know in the coming years they will be using it more and more. I wanted something that could copy and scan. This seems to be a great home solution.

The Canon MF644Cdw Wireless Color All-In-One Laser Printer has a lot of positives, but there are two negatives:
1) If there is a way to scan two-sided originals into one pdf, I have not been able to figure it out. It does allow for two-sided to either two-sided or one-sided copying, so that makes it all the stranger.
2) It is very difficult to set up the scanner at the outset.
Once everything is working, the unit is a pleasure. The copies are produced quickly and are excellent. The scanner is quick, as long as all originals are printed only on one side. At $351.99, including tax and free delivery, it was a good buy, and it comes with a three-year parts warranty from the manufacturer.
Other than the two-sided scan issue, I'm very pleased so far.

Received on time. Quite a heavy and awkward box, but then the printer is bigger than I expected. Easy setup. Great OOB experience. Color quality and print quality are very good. Speed is okay to good. Cost of toner cartridges is steep (buying the set is half of what I paid for the printer itself).

This is my third Canon printer and the best so far. The other two multi-function printers are still working after many years, but I needed a better scanner since I'm working from home. It was a little complicated to get going, but once it was installed, it works well. The only reason I gave it 4 and not 5 stars is because of the scanning. I couldn't find a Canon scan utility compatible with Windows 10. And I'm not happy with how the Windows scan works, but until I can find a compatible utility, I'm stuck with it. On the positive side, it prints quickly, great definition and easy to copy. I would recommend it.

So far I love this printer. Quick, easy to use. A little louder than I thought but no big deal. Still having trouble setting up the scan / send to email function but it's not that big of a deal to me. I can still send it just takes a few extra steps to do it. Over all, definitely worth purchasing.

Was very easy to setup. I was thinking I did something wrong because my Mac never showed the software until I tried to print. So set up was too easy. On the negative side, this printer is heavy. But very happy with the pages so far.

Needed to replace our inkjet printer. Not having to print often lead to clogged print heads and wasting ink doing nozzle checks and realigning.
Due to the affordable prices of laser printers decided to get the Canon imageClass. Set up was easy when following instructions. Downloaded the Canon Business Print app for greater control and more printing options when printing from an iPad. App works well when scanning documents to store in iCloud. Finally able to scan and shred hard copies of our documents on file. The document feeder works great and is worth the extra money. Also must mention, though I haven’t done extensive tests, initially print quality appears to be great. Says a lot coming from a picky graphic designer.
A few minor issues: sometimes takes a couple tries to get iPad to connect to printer when in sleep mode. Prints a little slower than expected but still way faster than inkjet. Seems to handle heavy weight paper and labels okay.
Overall very happy with our purchase. If you’re on the fence, I would suggest you get it.

I haven't had this very long, but it was fairly easy to get going. I did have to download the latest driver from the Canon website before my computer would detect it. Nothing to assemble, just unpack and plug in. The paper tray will extend for legal paper if needed and will accommodate other sizes like envelopes. The front auxiliary slot works well too. Slide in a sheet of whatever or an envelope and you don't need to tell the printer to pull from that spot. it just does it. Have printed a couple of dozen sheets and the toners still say 100%. Be aware that they come with starter cartridges that i was told are about half the capacity of replacements. Did some research on the price of toner, and Canon's are way cheaper than HP. The disc has scanner software and an ink status utility. The driver I had to download on Win7 anyway. The only thing I haven't done at this point is print a photo. I have it plugged directly into my desktop. Also using wireless for the other computers in the house and printing from our iPhones. Had HP's almost all of my life and finally had enough. So far very happy. Also purchased the 4 year, cover pretty much everything, geek squad warranty.

Wish I had bought this printer years ago, or at least before I began the endless experience of buying ink-jet printers every 2-3 years. And despite all the criticisms of colors on laser printers, they're just as good as ink jets (at least with this printer). I haven't printed any copies of photographs yet but I normally don't do that too often, so I really don't know or care. Knowing that I don't have to worry about ink drying out also takes a big load off my mind.

So far very pleased with this printer. Set up was easy using the installation disk provided by Canon. Wi-Fi set up was equally easy and no connection issues that some people complained about. Printing is fast and documents have great clarity.
It is a large device but takes up no more room than the HP it replaced (it is heavy).
Operational is fairly quiet but it's on par with similar models.
Replacement cartridges are reasonable for Laser.
It is pricey but watch the sales like I did, makes it an even better deal!
