Good camera for a regular user. It has everything that the average computer user would need: printer, fax, copier, scanner. A good deal for the price.

This Canon printer is doing everything I want it to, with some experimentation it is copying photos very nicely on Canon Glossy paper. I'm very happy with my new printer.

You never know what to expect especially when you settle for an inexpensive printer. Well was I pleasantly surprised with this one. The MX492 has been awesome so far. Best part is having wifi capabilities built in which means I can print from my desktop, laptop, iPad or even iPhone by simply setting it up once!

Pros- printer easy to set up. Love how quick it prints and the quality of it. Prints and connected to wireless and wired devices painlessly. Phone, laptop, etc. Cons-fax set up takes a bit of patience. After the set up it's easy. It's not that quiet, not the loudest either but there might be a quiet setting. Setting up to fax last minute made me to want to throw it. Tip don't set it up right before you need to send a fax now. Take the time to go thru all of the install and there's some helpful videos online to guide you thru it. Get the software package from the website. The CDs didn't do me much good other than drivers or getting stuck due to mine being a 64 bit OS. I really do love this one tho, despite the fax hair pulling. It's much better than their older version of this.

Annoying Software Setup, but Operates Well

I've only had this a couple of weeks, but so far is performing well. I'm a light user (might print a few pages every couple of weeks), so Best Buy associate thought this model would be sufficient for my needs. The software setup on the first computer was far more complicated and time consuming than necessary. Once initial setup was complete, however, adding the printer wirelessly on the 2nd and 3rd computers was quick and easy (initial PC connection was also wireless). The hardware portion of the setup was very easy and printer operation, once annoying setup was complete, was also simple. Display is clear and options straightforward. I won't be using the fax features, so can't speak to that, but scanning and printing are fairly quick and print quality is a bit better than expected for this price point. I'm hoping Canon proves more durable as I bought this to replace an HP that broke down just a couple of weeks after the 2-year warranty expired. I'm also still using the OEM printer ink, so not sure how often I'll have to replace or what the maintenance costs will prove to be.

Easy to connect, works as expected. Important for me is the sheet feeder that allows to scan several pages together. Nice finish and good size to fit in my table, good printing quality, easy to set up. I recommend this printer

I bought this for just occasional use. Theatre tickets, parking passes, and the dreaded annual tax return. Was easy to set up. Improvement over old model in that trays are bigger and finished doc does not wind up on the floor. Speed and print quality perfectly adequate for intended use. Price very reasonable, footprint not objectionable.

    Wifi problems

After spending over two hours of configuration wifi still wasn't connecting so I follow the canon online setup directions and trouble shooting and still no connection. Next day I decided to return the printer but instead did a router reset and started a new setup Problem solved! With the new windows 10 I figure maybe there wasn't an update yet but for someone who doesn't know and is having problems with the wifi, try resetting the router and do a fresh setup then try installing drivers again. I did this with three computers at home and all are working fine.

The printer is really inexpensive and very easy to setup. I would recommend this as maybe in two years the printer will go out and can purchase a newer model around the same price. I wouldn't get warranty because again, it's probably as much a new printer anyway. Prints fast, clean results and easy mainteance.

Great printer. This printer can print, copy, scan and fax. This would be great for a small business because it have fax. I dont use the fax and will not be hooking up a phone line just for it. It was pretty simple to hook up and get started. This is my first wireless printer and I'm satisfied with it. I can basically print from my computer, phone, iPad and tablet as long as they are hook to the same wifi the printer is hooked to. I gave 4 stars because once( had my computer off) I tried to print from my phone and it wouldn't, so I'm thinking the computer you used to set it up has to be on while printing. Over all it's great and I haven't had any major problems with it yet.

This wasn't my first choice when it came to printers, but since the store was out of stock of the one I originally wanted, I went with this one. The initial setup of the printer was a little difficult, but using it has been a breeze. It's also pretty small in size which is a plus because I hate bulky printers. If your looking for a budget friendly printer that is worth the money, I would go with this one.

Based on an older CR evaluation, I purchased a Canon Pixma MX492 in May of 2018 for occasional use. It has performed flawlessly, which led me in Nov. 2018 to purchase a second one for another location. I set both up via wireless network. Initial set-up of both units was a little clunky, but not difficult. I recommend leaving the unit always in the "on" state, as if you turn it off for long periods - say a week or so - it will likely go through a lengthy "cleaning/re-awaking" process when you do want to use it. Leaving it on in standby mode eliminates this. The tiny power consumption cost is more than paid back by the savings from less wasted ink. Speaking of ink; usage and cost of cartridges is my only criticism of this unit - typical of a lot of ink-jet printers I've owned over the years. I have used it for copying; scanning to my PC; as well as printing in color or B/W, which is what it is used for most often. I did not hook it up to a phone line, so cannot comment on how well it performs in FAX mode. (I have used it to scan to my PC, then FAX via network application, which works just fine.) It comes with an extensive software suite which you acquire from Canon website, and will also print photos, though I have not used it for such, so cannot comment on quality. It works well with Windows, Apple, and Android on my networks. I guesstimate that I output about 50 "pages"/month from the unit - so not a lot. For occasional use where you want the versatility, of decent print/copy/scan performance, then this printer is really hard to beat for the price.
