    Great Choice for Multifunction

I have only used this machine to print documents and scan using the platen and the ADF. I am still learning to use this machine although I have only had two issues with it so far. My first try with the ADF was scanning some papers that were in good shape but had been stapled. (Of course I removed the staples.) I never got them to feed correctly. It did not seem to be a matter of the papers sticking together either. Rather it would start one paper and before it was halfway finished it would grab hold of a couple more pages. If the staple holes were the issue I would think multiple pages would go through lined up together. I almost gave up on it then. This was the very purpose of buying the machine. I decided to give it another try with a different set of papers and had absolutely no problems. Fed beautifully, more pages than it says, straight and even, quick, easy. The software leaves something to be desired. It has a steep learning curve. There are several ways to do things which makes it confusing to learn just ONE way. (It's easy to mix up the steps from one way with the steps from another way - anarchy!) It is alternately intuitive and lacking. It seems there is no way to save some basic preferences even though it seems easy enough to choose them. I may yet find solutions to these problems but I don't think it needed to be this difficult. I was disappointed when I saw a friend had bought a new Canon printer and it used the same software program. They could not darken a colored, unclear, NCR document. They asked if I could. I tried using theirs but couldn't find anything in the software to adjust the darkness or contrast. Took it back home and tried it on mine. I still haven't found a way to adjust these things. I ended up scanning on my old Epson Photo Scanner which it looks like I will need to keep. And the machine is massive. Not so much in comparison to other document feeding multifunction machines but I was very shocked and I do not have a great place for it on or near my desk. In spite of the cons (so far), I would recommend this machine to anyone who was multifunction printer/scanner literate. My mother would probably kill the machine - it's just too complicated - but my boyfriend figured it out fairly quickly. And I imagine a browse through the manual wouldn't hurt. My project is to scan a couple thousand pages of records. From my test runs, I think it will do this job very well with a minimum of headaches. It prints well, it scans standard documents well. Since copying is just a combination of the scan and print I am sure that will do well. I have no intention of faxing. The controls ON the machine are clear and easy to use. The setup was easy both wireless and wired IF you have the right computer equipment (wireless cards, usb cord, router, etc. depending on how you want to set it up). My favorite part of the machine - the auto-open paper output tray. When I get in the habit of closing the tray when I am done then my printer will stay cleaner because when I go to use it, it opens the tray for me. lol (It's too bad it doesn't close it for me.) AND you can not slam it shut. It has a "soft close" feature like cabinet doors.

It was relatively easy to setup and prints very nicely. Wish it had a feature to turn on automatically when you send to print. Have to be nearby to turn on. Great value for a wireless printer that has a lot of features and does a lot of things. Great for being able to print from many devices in the household!

This printer does it all. Scans, copies, fax, photo printing, eco option to save ink, and wireless. Probably one of the smaller sized copiers available that have all the functions. My set up with the disk took some time but that may have been my fault for being computer illiterate. Very pleased with the purchase and would recommend to anyone.

I replaced another Canon printer with this MX892. Nice printer with some great features. Great print quality for documents and photos. Not the fastest printer but not slow. Excellent scanning quality. Very easy to use and install software. Have not used it for faxing but the capability is built in. The only negative would be that if the printer is used often the ink will be expensive. The ink cartridges on this model are about 1/2 the size as my previous Canon printer and I have already noticed the difference in how often I have to replace them. I use my printer daily so for occasional users, it may not be a problem for you. I would recommend this printer to others with the disclaimer that ink does not last long if you are using the printer daily like I do.

i've owned this printer about 2 months after an endless struggle with my old HP 7180-C photosmart. With the old HP, I had problems with HP software taking CPU memory and I lost wireless and wired links frequently. The new Canon MX892 has been running fine and steady since setup and it was also easy to set up wireless print drivers on several laptop computers and an ipad for family members. The Canon is reasonably fast to warm up and start for any printing, scan, or copying activity, and the document prints are very good. I have not tried to print a high quality photos as yet and I have not setup the fax function, however, with everything else working well, I think I'll give that a try soon.

Great product thus far. Bought this for my mother who is still learning today's tech. She finds this easy to run and use with its wireless printing. Set up was simple and fast. Looks good, though it is a BIG printer for home use.

    Excellent All-In-One Printer

The Canon MX892 is an excellent all-in-one printer. It has plenty of features and the print quality is excellent. I like the auto document feeder. It makes scanning and copying mulitpage documents much easier. I had a Canon MP620B before this, and it was a pain having to scan or copy documents one page at a time. One feature of that printer that the MX892 has as well is a rear paper feed. That makes it easier to feed thicker paper, such as card stock and business card paper, and envelopes. That is combined with a paper tray, giving you the best of both worlds. One slightly annoying thing about the printer is that it often goes through a maintenance cycle before printing. I believe this is a print head cleaning cycle that ensures the printout is clean, but it is rather annoying to have to sit and wait for two or three minutes before printing begins. Once the printing begins, it's fast, but more often than not, you're going to have to wait for it to start. I have not tried the fax function, as I don't fax documents, but everything else works great. The software is similar to what I had with the MP620B, so I am used to the interface and features. It may seem like a lot of programs, but they don't take up too much space, relatively speaking. Overall, the MX892 is a versatile printer that can handle a multitude of tasks.

Great product and price. Canon rep was at Best Buy when we purchased this printer. We were going to buy an HP until the rep went over all the features this printer offered. It is everything we were looking for and easy to set up. Connected all laptops, iPhones, and iPad in a short period of time. Great product!

I have been needing a new printer and scanner for a while and had been debating sticking with a laser printer over going to an inkjet printer. It got to the point were I had to just buy one and this is what I went with. The price is very reasonable and the printing and scanning options are very nice. The machine is good quality and the wireless printing and scanning functions are very convenient. I use it mostly for document printing but the few photos I have printed have been very good quality.

Great wireless, Google Cloud Print enabled printer

We are still in the process of phasing out our old non-wireless Canon printer, so this printer hasn't seen a ton of usage yet. But we were able to set it up with Google Cloud Print and our WiFi without any issues and without the need for a separate PC. This was great because I don't like to leave a PC on all of the time to enable printing from phones and tablets. The internal paper storage of the printer is also great. It keeps the paper flat and clean unlike older models where the paper would be standing up for weeks and would often end up bending and/or getting dusty. I don't need to leave the printer on all the time since Google Cloud Print will queue up the jobs and then when I need to retrieve them, I can just turn on the printer and they will all be processed. We are very happy with it so far and got a great price for it on sale. We expect it to last for 5+ years like our previous Canon printers. The worst part of the printer so far (we almost returned it due to this) has been Canon's Android app support. Their app is extremely limited compared to those provided by HP and Epson. Updates are slow and haven't added really useful features for quite some time. Last we checked it only supported photo printing, not documents, web pages, pdf, etc. There are other apps that we're using to make up for Canon's lack of quality support, but we would like to see Canon step up in the future. If this printer hadn't been such a good deal on sale, we would have went with another manufacturer due to this issue.

I love the print quality and how quiet it runs. Not as easy to set up as an HP but pretty straight forward. As I said before you need an adapter to use it with your mobile phone. The biggest draw back for me is that it will not create one PDF from multiple documents fed in the feeder which is a must for my job. If you do not need that function then I recommend this printed just from the noise reduction alone.

I love how easy this printer was to set-up. It took less than five minutes to connect wirelessly. The printer is super fast and the quality of the documents and pictures are awesome. I have not had to replace the ink yet, and I have printed a lot of photos and documents. This printer is good for personal or business use.

I've used Canon inkjets for many, many years - this is probably my third. Beautiful looking unit, superb feature set, and very good speed and quality of print. Network setup straightforward as long as you follow the step by step procedure that the included DVD will guide you through. The ONLY bad issue is the high usage of ink, primarily for the automatic head cleaning. It seems this printer wants to clean the heads before or after every print job. No way to adjust. Canon online customer support giving me generic answers to conserve ink, no answers on how to reduce requency of head cleaning. paid $120 on sale at Best Buy. Buy generic ink cartridges online for $3-$4 each. Changing out full set of 5 cartridges every 100-150 pages or so. Seems other have same issue, popped up frequently on message boards.

Overall, I am very pleased with our purchase of this printer. We bought this to replace our Epson printer which created flawless photos, but cost $140 to replace all the ink. This printer still goes through the ink a little bit quicker then I would like to see, but the print quality is good and at $40 to replace all the colors I am a very pleased customer. It was easy to install and has been working great for us. I would recommend this printer for anyone who wants a good all around printer. If you are primarily looking for a photo printer, this is still a good choice for the money.

I'm not sure why I experienced a software snafu from the provided disc onto my computer but it didn't load correctly and therefore when I attempted to print it generated error messages. In turn it required extra re-working on my part to figure out how to get the printing to engage. The canon website was no help and re-loading the disc didn't seem to work either. I went through a different printing icon to engage the printer and that worked fine. Once printing got going, it was fast, silent and excellent quality. During printing multiple pages we had another software breakdown, where we wanted to print pages 3-5 and it began printing over at page 1. I'm not sure why these software glitches exist. The on-line product quality survey which Canon provides to new users has to be completed in 5 days or it expires, which I didn't realize, so this feedback never made it back to Canon in time. Sooooo...I'm not sure if others have experienced this software issue on a MAC or if Canon is fixing this for future versions. When the printer is actually printing, it's amazing. Ink is easy to load, wireless connection is great. No problems other than the software. I've printed close to 500 photos in the first 4 days of owning it and 100% perfect printing!

This printer wasn't my first choice. I originally came into the store to buy another printer but after seeing the features and print quality, I decided to buy the Canon. I'm so glad I did. It was so easy to setup. I love the fact that it prints double sided. And it looks great too! Not as boxy as other printers out there.

Excellent printer for all around use (home and/or home office). Works well with both MAC and PC on same network. Doesn't work well with older computers/older operating systems like Windows Vista and XP. The fast speed still provides excellent quality for documents - even large spreadsheets and charts. the only reason I gave it 4 stars is the incompatibility with the older computers.
