    Great point and shoot camera

I have used this camera multiple times since purchase and it takes great photos for a point and shoot camera. My only complaint is the charging system, which requires you to take the battery out and plug it into the proprietary battery charging system. I had thought that you could use the usb data cable and plug it in to charge, but that will not work. This requires you to bring that additional accessory along with you or have multiple batteries, which usually isn't too big of a deal. Aside from that one issue, this item is definitely a good purchase. There are relatively few point and shoot cameras in this price range that also boast the 20 megapixel resolution that this does. -- This review allows only for photos to be uploaded with 5 mb or less of image size and the majority of the images that I have shot with this range between 7 mb and 12 mb, so I found 2 photos that were under this file size that were shot with the camera. They are definitely not the best ones that were shot, but may help. These were literally the only 2 I had that were under or equal to 5 mb.

I have used this camera a couple times, around 340 pictures. It is doing pretty good, it has very good zoom, taking beautiful pictures even in moving targets, like a people, animals, even running car wheels. It is pretty awesome and easy to carry it. Battery life is good enough, I have charged twice for the 340 plus the erased ones. I just would like to have some more options for editing pics. Wifi works good as well, it was the main reason because we bougth the cam. For the price it is completely awesome small 20 pixels camera.

I bought this to supplement my Nikon Coolpix 520, as I wanted something "pocketable." While it takes excellent photos, it does take noticeably longer to take a photo once the button is tripped. I suspect that is the image stabilization working, but not completely sure. Appreciate the built-in wifi feature...it's relatively simple to use, and I was able to capture some nice snaps of a hummingbird feeding using it. Overall, it's a good deal for the money.

I was in the field doing work away from home when my old camera had a problem. Searched on-line and found the Canon. In the store looked at several others and with input with the salesman, decided on this model. I don't regret it. It worked great and the pictures were all I expected.

I use it for copying genealogical records for my family history. It is mounted on a board that is clamped on a microfilm viewer, the wide-angle lens is perfect to view the total image. A Sony app is available to remotely control the camera shutter, and images are automatically saved on a cellphone, tablet or PC. Unfortunately I have not been able to use the wi-fi camera app provided by Sony, the software is difficult to get working on a Samsung tablet. One problem is precisely zooming the lens with the tiny lever provided. I may have to provide a much larger control knob.

I purchased this camera last minute simply because I was leaving on a cruise and couldn’t find my camera. Knowing that the misplaced camera will eventually turn up, I didn’t want to spend a lot but also wanted a decent camera for my trip and this fit the bill. It is smaller and lighter than the camera I can’t find at the moment which I enjoyed but it’s features are a little harder to access because they are somewhat buried in menus. It worked great as a point and shoot even without the additional features. I took the book with me but never got around to reading it. I played around and managed to find the settings I wanted but am sure it does way more if I would take the time to learn about it. I do like the 10X zoom and got some great pictures so all in all, I am pleased. I deducted one star simply because I prefer my other camera that has a dial for commonly used settings like macro, scenery etc so that you don’t have to waste time navigating thru menus.

Good basic camera, but software not user friendly

This camera is a good basic camera. Takes a good picture, even in low light. The shutter lag is a little annoying. I have several premium DSLR cameras that record the frame the instant the shutter button is depressed. This camera has some lag, resulting in missed action shots. But it is compact and lightweight and easy to travel with, which is why I bought it. And, the price was great. Battery life is limited - you will need a second battery if you are going to take many pictures (50 or more) on one charge. Setting up the software for external communication is NOT USER FRIENDLY. I ended up going to Google for further explanations. In the end I can use my cellphone as a control device. Great, but so what? Finally, photo/video transfer by removing the chip and inserting into a computer is the ONLY way to transfer data. Any other means is just too slow!

Used this camera on trip to Europe, loved it. Very compact and easy to use. The only negative I have is battery does not last for a full day of touring. You need a backup

ELPH 190 Very Nice Except for Macro Setting

This camera is pretty nice and takes nice pictures but there is one slight problem. When you turn the camera off it remembers some settings but does not remember them all. Thus if i have to take a Macro shot, i have to go into the menu and scroll to the Macro setting EVERY time i turn the camera on. Unfortunate for me i use the Macro a lot so it is nuts. Everything else is very good about the camera however, takes nice pictures, a little better than my older A3100IS Canon. Zoom is better, wide angle is better, Movie picture size is larger and file format is smaller so less bytes for a movie. it would be the perfect camera if it remembered the Macro setting. I would recommend it to anyone that does not take a lot of Macro shots for sure.

Good quality pictures even in low light. Haven’t managed to use the WiFi feature yet but I think that was an issue with my network rather than the camera. Battery indicater is a total failure, died right after saying full battery though it did last over a week on one charge with regular usage. But my friend bought the same camera and hers had the same issue

I purchased my Canon PowerShot digital camera to replace a similarly sized Nikon digital whose screen got broken. I've used it for both video and still shots and it fulfills the purpose admirably. My only reason for not giving it a perfect score is the battery doesn't seem to hold a charge for as long as did the Nikon's.

I have a large collection of DSLR and compact cameras. One of the top items I consider is quick focus and ability to take pictures very quick before the moment is gone. This is one of the best compact camera that does both. I never miss a shot of great moments. I just have to turn it on and within less than a second, i am already shooting. Great buy for the price. The wifi is awesome function. You can try those cameras before buying at Best Buy camera center (hope they are fully charged). They have quick and great auto focus. Great for trips rather than carrying a DSLR.

I purchased another small camera that rusted the first time I used it .... walking with a group on a very hot day. This camera has performed well in similar circumstances and takes great pictures ... no touch up needed. Zoom works well also ... pictures of grandson playing soccer (high school game).. Have a big camera, but wanted something when I did not want to haul a big camera. Highly recommend this one.

The camera lacks some bells and whistles that I found standard on older models of similar Canon cameras. One, is a lack of a timer. Two, is that there is no ability to turn on the camera flash. You can set it to automatic but if automatic does not work, there is no flash and you lose the picture.Battery recovers well between shots, compared to older models.
