I've shot a lot and have had this since day one/launch and with patience I've been getting some decent shots out of this thing. (Lifestyle, product shots, at the beach, indoors.) I was waiting until I could view the RAWs. However, I have to make an effort to make sure what I wanted in focus is in focus. It likes to focus on the background leaving subjects out of focus. Once its locked on though the shots are great. So the AF on stills isn't as bad as with video. But it's so bad for video I don't even consider using it... especially if i wanted to VLOG and can't "man the camera." The focus box shows you're the object, but focuses the opposite. It takes ages to finally lock onto focus, but its fickle to lose it again. That and the overheating while using FHD 120p or 4k. I'm also stuck with 30fps as the lowest framerate it can go. If I switch to PAL I can get 25fps at least. That being said I bought this for my wife who never really used cameras other than a cell phone. I wanted something for her that she can literally point and shoot and maybe she'll gain interest in some gear, but I'm having trouble justifying why things don't work or are out of focus for her. Back to video: I've resorted to finding focus on me, for example, and switching to MF to be able to have peace of mind that it wont jump to the background. Of course, I have to make sure I stay the same distance the whole time though. I still have a few weeks before I am out of my return window and I'm hoping they release a firmware fix. If not, then I know what is going to replace this. (Hint: it has 24fps, doesnt overheat, Eye AF etc) Pros: -Size:Feature Ratio -Ergonomics -1.8 aperture (W) | 2.8 (T) -FAST high speed capture -Touch Screen Menus -ND filter -MIC input -Flip screen -Wifi/Bluetooth -Image Stablization in Video is decent enough (no complaints) -FHD 120/60 fps -No crop 4k (take a hint EOS R lol) What I don't Like: -no viewfinder -AUTOFOCUS -FHD is a little soft -lack of dual pixel AF -overheating in 4k and FHD 120p -no shoe for the mic (not a big deal) -no 24fps -contrast focus, not phase detect -no LOG profile -constrained ISO in 4k -battery life could be better All that being said, I can get decent results out of the camera, but that is not without putting in some solid effort and patience. Using this thing is tedious. I've never googled or looked up a camera (almost daily) AFTER I bought it to find fixes or to see if others share the same problem. What good is a camera if the pictures you care about aren't in focus? What good is a camera with video if the video isn't in focus and you have to throw out footage? What good is a camera that doesn't let you use it because it overheated?

I am very impressed by this camera. The camera is small and easy to carry, but it takes amazing photos with great detail and color. The 4K video recording is excellent for capturing high-quality videos. I also liked the flip-up touchscreen, which makes it easy to frame shots and adjust settings. The autofocus works well and quickly, making sure you don't miss important moments. For those into vlogging or streaming, the microphone input is very useful. Overall, the Canon G7X Mark III is a great camera for both photography and video. It’s reliable, easy to use, and produces excellent results. Highly recommended!

Overheats & shuts down while streaming

Given how highly rated this item was by vloggers, I'm a bit disappointed. There does not seem to be an override for the automatic shut off so the only way to use this camera as a source for multi-camera streaming through a third party app/feed is to connect it to an external device. Doing this causes the camera to overheat, which is not good for any stream longer than 20-30 minutes. Furthermore, Canon has discontinued the portal that nearly every video tells you to use to control and connect their cameras to other devices AND shut down almost all of their customer service--their website suggests you can call a special number for each model and then when they call, it tells you that phone CS for the model is no longer available so you should just go to the website and cull through hours of videos to solve your own problem. Not sure about you, but usually if i reach the point where I'm calling customer service, I've likely exhausted all options online and need to talk to a human. I'm still giving three stars because the quality of videos and photos I've taken offline is next level and the feature that beams the assets straight to your external device with an option for EITHER bluetooth or WiFi is ace. However, I don't love that it requires to you install yet another app on your tablet or phone. Overall, it's good. But I think from a user perspective, they can do better. For the money, I wish I'd gone with the EOS instead of the Powershot.

I really love my Canon G7X Mark III. It's small and easy to carry, but the photo and video quality are amazing. The screen flips up, which makes it perfect for vlogging or selfies. It also focuses quickly and works great in low light. I've used it for travel, everyday pictures, and content for social media. It's super easy to use, even if you're not a camera expert. I'm really happy with this purchase!

Love the camera for its price. Captures great photos and shoots very high quality video. Love the camera and its perfect for someone like me who is a beginner looking for an affordable, but nice camera. 4k only shoots for about 5-10 minutes and the camera starts to overheat. Also the autofocus can be a bit sensative to motion so sometimes will have lots of focus issues in recordings. Otherwise highly recommend!

I have the iPhone and DSLR, but this is great for day trips without draining your phone, or carrying around a 10lb camera. Great picture, easy to use, easily connects to your phone so that you can download pictures, and you can either charge the battery with the camera or using the included charger. Canon has made this so simple.
