I bought this for my husband because he loves stars and planets and he really loves this telescope. The moon looks amazing. You can see all the details. And the telescope is small enough to take with you on camping trips.

I got this for my 4 year old . She loves it so far! Can't really see much, like planets or anything like that. The moon is cool though. That's about it

Great Telescope for the price and for Children

This telescope is good choice for the price range and its simplicity makes it a great choice for children or those who wish to "dabble" in astronomy. One upgrade I would recommend making is upgrading the finder away from the little finderscope to a "red dot" finder (about $10.) The design of the mount also makes it more ideal than the cheaper telescopes out there that come on a tripod. Those tripods tend to be very flimsy and the vibration will be very frustrating while trying to focus and find objects. Due to it's size and simplicity this telescope is ideal for taking on camping trips where you might be where the skies are less light polluted than the typical suburban backyard or driveway. However, there are plenty of things you'll be able to see from your backyard, including: - Craters on the Moon - Jupiter and 4 moons. You will be able to see some surface detail on Jupiter with the supplied 10mm eyepiece - Saturn. You will be able to make out the rings with the 10mm eyepiece - Mars - will have the appearance of a bright red dot - The Orion Nebula - The Andromeda Galaxy - You will be able to see the core of this galaxy, 2 million light years away - The Pleiades - beautiful star cluster. - The Double Cluster - because this telescope has a very wide field of view large star clusters are perfect. The only down side to this telescope is the primary mirror is constructed in a manner such that the edges of the view will be distorted.
