Overall I'm very pleased with this DVR. Since we cut the cord from cable and satellite and switched to antenna, this gives us many more options. Not only can we record the local channels we get from the antenna, but it gives us a channel guide and some additional online channels. We can set it to record series and the guide goes 2 weeks ahead. It can either record 2 shows at once or record one and watch something else. It also allows us to pause and rewind live TV. Although not quite as technical as the DVR that came with out satellite dish server, it does the job. It has 1TB of memory and we have had hours of programming on it and haven't even used 10% of the memory.

I bought this month ago and I am enjoying it very much. It records our shows. Operation is simple. I had a glitch in setup but tech support helped and they were great as well. They are limited to business hours for help though. Remote and setup is easy. Like the guide. I would like to say I miss my $95 per month satellite bill but I want to keep this honest. LOL I have told my friends who have cut the satellite off and one bought it. He likes it too.

The Channel Master impressed me greatly. Easy to hook up and the DVR works like a champ. I especially liked the signal meter in the settings menu, it helped me zero in on the most difficult channels, ABC in Dallas, with ease. Also, an in-line signal amplifier would be wise, as it improved the signal strength big time. The channel scan brought in 110 channels in my area. After deleting the ones I wasn't interested in I ended up with 35.

I have used several different DVRs in the past to record and play back TV content recorded off the antenna. I would have to say this product excells in all specifications without a doubt. I purchased the model with the 1 TB storage so have a plenty of space to store content. It allows you to record 2 shows from different channels at the same time which is nice feature that I did not have in my previous DVRs. The product is very thin and takes up almost no space and very responsive to whatever you are doing. It does a very good job at picking up channels. About the only negative thing I have to say would be the remote control looked a little cheap but I don't use it anyways so not much of a factor. I use the harmony universal remote to control the unit.

I got this DVR after I decided to cancel the U-verse service with AT&T. Together with a HD antenna I'm getting about 80 high definitions channels without paying a penny while at the same time I can record whatever program I want to. It also allows to work with Internet providers like Netflix and YouTube.

Finally a DVR, seemed to missing from the market, needs internet connection but besides that works with antenna tv, records series and only new shows. if you record more than one of a series puts in a folder shows what you have not watched with 'new'. also can watch internet tv, setup for VUDU, Slink, Pandora. Can watch one channel while taping another with even with out a dual channel TV. if watching a show and decide in middle you want to tape it will start taping where you started watching in the past.

Was looking at TIVO but found this as an alternative for less money and with NO subscription fees. Hooked up easily, guide works great, and have been using this now for about 6 weeks. Does everything as advertised and we love using this with an antenna - no more cable bill for us. BUY ONE!

The Channel Master works great. Love it. Easy to set up. It's a lot like cable TV in that you can stop live action with over the air TV. You can easily record programs, up to two at a time while catching one of them or record one program and watch another. I don't miss cable TV and the Channel Master makes the experience great.

We love that ChannelMaster gave us the option of not only of cutting the cable but also DVR-ing our shows. I wish it would have been clearer that recording Sling TV wasn't an option. That wasn't exactly ChannelMazter's fault but reaching their customer service was not as easy as indicated. I was on hold for 45 minutes and then when they closed at 5pm it made me leave a message. Someone eventually called me back the next day. Otherwise though, we are happy.

I was looking for a device to use as a DVR. This is a bit expensive right off the bat however with cutting out cable I will save money in the long run. Best part is you don't need any sort of subscription. Also on a side note you will want to purchase an antenna. I was attempting the striped Coax cable as my antenna. It worked however when the DVR recorded two shows at once it struggled. I purchased a decent antenna and all is well.

Not as user friendly as the tivo. But the channel master has NO annual subscription, the tivo is an additional $150.00 per year. BS. Once you get to know the channel master, its a great dvr. By the way, I have both dvr's.

Price is a little expensive. The recording function can be touchy has to be the exact same name. also if a program is running late due to a special event it will cut off and you will not get to see your entire show only lets you record up to 15 minutes after a show is over

For those using and antenna and just internet this allows you to 'VCR' your shows or record and watch another show. It also adds extra channels from the internet such as Bloomberg. Can add storage if 1TB (160 hrs) is not enough for you. record features manual, all shows with title or only new shows with title. If you have Vudo, Pandora or slipTV this are part of channel guide. show descriptions and showing future shows on guide available.

We are an OTA [ over the air ] family and have been fighting with our VCR just way too much... Most DVRs that we found did not have OTA tuners and or required monthly subscription to be able to use as well as internet required to program them... This one has 2 tuners and an internal 1Terrabyte hard drive for recording. Image is great with OTA HD programs... not cheap but good by TAPES ;O)

I had a TiVo Primere DVR for many years. But it was just not pulling in the channels when we moved to a remote area. I tried a directional antenna which could get all the stations but only the ones in the direction it was pointed. Went to an omni-directional but it was too weak. Bought a Cable Master amp which seemed to help but not enough to be "livable". Decided to buy the CM DVR while I was still working on the antenna problem, plugged it in and Whola! Apparently the problem was never the antenna but the receiver in the TiVo. Wow, all the channels are now coming in. So, why not 5 stars then? The menus (to put it bluntly) suck. Now, I'm not saying they need to copy the menus from a TiVo or any other DVR, Lord knows none are perfect. I wonder if anybody at CM actually uses these? I'm still teaching my wife how to delete something she just finished watching. When she starts wailing about how awful the process is I have to apologize for my purchase (remember, she was weened on the TiVo). I thought I would solve it by recording a macro on the universal remote but can't even do that because the menus on the CM are not consistent (can't delete something if it's still playing, sometimes the delete option is one down cursor, sometimes it's two). I just have to take control of the remote so I can press: Live, List (verify selection) select, down, maybe another down, select, left cursor, then select. NO KIDDING, that is the fastest way. If you forget to press the Live button at the beginning (which is not intuitive), you'll be looping all over the place with that remote.
