I have several smokers and grills so this concept is not new to me. I was very intrigued by the idea of getting a crisp/juicy deep-fried turkey (I have had several from friends that we great) but didn't want the hassle of the oil and dangers of potential burning/explosions. So I read numerous reviews on this item and took the plunge and bought it. I will tell you definitively you will NOT be disappointed! I did a 16lb turkey outside in 20f temp, snowing and blowing wind and the bird came out excellent! Took just over 2 1/2 hours, I only checked on it a few times (as I have a remote thermometer) and kept it covered the entire time and the turkey turned out spectacular! I will be trying many more things with this (especially when the weather warms up here in VT) but suffice to say it worked well. Cleanup was also pretty easy with just the rack and the large removable cylinder to clean. Wiped them both down with soap and water and done.

I purchased this approx. 1 month prior to Thanksgiving. I've never made a turkey before in my life. My wife or mother typically make it, but I decided that I wanted to give them both a break. After reading the reviews on this thing, I figured I'd try it. I practiced with an 8 lb. chicken after purchasing it. The chicken was soooooooooo good-Crispy skin on the outside and tender, super moist white and dark meat on the inside. I figured that the turkey would come out the same way. Onto Thanksgiving Day: I bought a 13.5 lb. turkey. I placed two meat digital roasting thermometers into it-one in the thigh and the other in the breast. I bought these great little Hamilton Beach digital units with 4 foot leads, which made the monitoring of the temperature really easy for me. The thermometer that came with the unit wasn't the greatest, and I really didn't fully trust its accuracy. I set the digital thermometers for 170 degrees for each probe. The turkey took about 2 hours. The instructions with the unit will tell you that cooking time for a turkey is approx. 10 minutes per lb. I don't go by the time; instead I go strictly on the internal temperature of the bird. The wife and I brought the turkey to my parents' house for Thanksgiving dinner. My dad is the pickiest of the picky (at age 88, he'll say whatever he thinks of the food he's eating, and he's tough to please). He and my mother thought this was the most tender turkey they've eaten. If they feel that way, then I know this was a good investment. This bird was nice and brown on the outside and sooooooooooo tender and juicy on the inside. Just a few tips that I learned: The lid that comes with the fryer is used to brown the skin, as it reflects the heat back into the cylinder of the unit. The longer you leave the lid on, the browner (and crispier) the skin will get. Also, I put the ring of a 9" spring form pan into the cylinder so that the basket sat on top of that ring. It allows the bird to be lifted from the bottom of the cylinder so that it cooks more evenly with the heat. I read other people's complaints on other sites that the bottom portion of the fryer tends to cook a little differently than the middle, so this pan allows you to raise the basket a little higher for more even cooking. I got that spring form pan (along with 2 other sizes in a set of 3) at a local BIG RETAIL STORE (hint-Wal) for about 9 bucks. Well worth it. The only thing that didn't impress me were the assembly instructions. The picture for the placement of the heat shield isn't that informative. It shows where it should go, but it doesn't show you the entire picture, which made it a little difficult. Other than that, assembly was a snap. Also, after hooking everything up and turning the propane on, the ignition dial has to be turned rapidly for the unit to light. If you turn it slowly.....click.......................click..............................click, it won't light. Has to be turned quickly....click-click-click...you get the idea. Buy this thing...you can't go wrong. If I can make a turkey or chicken in it, anyone can.

Awesome great product I use twice or more a week. It's my summer oven now. Easy to clean up and use. Love it get the cookbook recipes are great.

Great item without using the oil and leaving a big mess to clean up. You will love this item when you buy it. Meat is nice and tender.

I had a Big Easy for over a year. Use it all the time for roasting hens, cooking spare ribs and even Boston butts. I bought this one for for my stepson as a gift. He loves it too.

Last year I bought one of these for my household and cooked it turkey in it for Thanksgiving it was the absolute best turkey anybody in my entire family had ever tasted. This year we were traveling the Colorado to see extended family and I wanted them to experience what a turkey tasted like in this deep fryer so I bought them one. Once again it turned out to be one of the best turkeys anyone have ever tasted. We've also done spare ribs and these cooker and couldn't be more happy with the outcome don't hesitate in buying

Used this to make a turkey for Christmas. It was excellent. I had never had fried turkey but don't see how it could be any better.

Easy setup, great results..turkey was evenly cooked and browned on outside and inside was tender and juicy. My first ever tender/juicy turkey. Love it

My first ever turkey was a hit! Easy to read instructions, awesome simple recipes. I will be cooking the Thanksgiving turkey every year from now on. You could not ask for an easier product to use. Already recommended it to co-workers.

For the first run with this Char-broil Turkey Roaster we did a chicken. We have done chicken everyway you can think of including with a rotisserie. The chicken we did was slightly dark because I placed the screen on to soon but boy was it juicy and flavorful. Our Thanksgiving 15 lb. turkey was wonderful and done to perfection in less than 1 1/2 hours. We had injected it with a blend of secret ingredients. Almost unable to carve the skin into bit size pieces fast enough to keep up with the Nibblers around me.

We have used the turkey fryer for pork ribs and prime rib. They all turned out great!

This is a high quality product! It's made really well and of high quality materials. One of the best features is the outside of the fryer doesn't get hot which is great for when kids and pets are around.

This cooker appears to be well made and designed. Relatively easy to assemble.
