The Chef iQ 6qt Multi-Function Smart Pressure Cooker is a true game-changer in the kitchen. Packed with innovative features and powered by a user-friendly app, this appliance has transformed my cooking experience in more ways than one.
One of the standout features of the Chef iQ Smart Pressure Cooker is its accompanying app, which boasts a vast library of mouthwatering recipes. With hundreds of delicious options at your fingertips, it's like having a personal chef guiding you through each culinary adventure. The app covers a wide range of cuisines, dietary preferences, and skill levels, ensuring there's something for everyone.
The built-in scale feature is a stroke of genius. When paired with the app, it simplifies the cooking process by displaying precise measurements on the screen. Gone are the days of fumbling with measuring cups and spoons; now, you can effortlessly follow recipes with confidence, knowing that your ingredients are accurately portioned. This feature saves time and eliminates guesswork, resulting in consistent and flavorful meals.
Another noteworthy aspect of the Chef iQ Smart Pressure Cooker is its auto steam release function. With this feature, the pressure cooker takes care of releasing steam on its own, eliminating the need for manual intervention. This not only enhances safety but also allows for hands-off cooking, granting you the freedom to attend to other tasks while your meal is being prepared.
The speedy heating capabilities of the Chef iQ Smart Pressure Cooker are truly impressive. It quickly reaches the desired cooking temperature, reducing overall cooking time and making it perfect for busy individuals or those with a hectic schedule. Whether you're preparing a savory stew or a delectable dessert, this appliance will have your meal ready in no time.
The app's instructional videos are a fantastic addition to the Chef iQ experience. Once you select a recipe, the app provides step-by-step videos that guide you through each stage of the cooking process. This visual aid is invaluable, especially for beginners or those looking to refine their culinary skills. It ensures that you understand the techniques and the order of operations, resulting in professional-quality dishes every time.
My overall experience with the Chef iQ Smart Pressure Cooker has been exceptional. The convenience, accuracy, and versatility it offers have elevated my cooking to new heights. The recipes I've made from the app have been nothing short of delightful, and the results have consistently exceeded my expectations.
In conclusion, the Chef iQ 6qt Multi-Function Smart Pressure Cooker is a culinary marvel. With its comprehensive app, built-in scale, auto steam release, rapid heating, and instructional videos, it sets a new standard for pressure cookers. Whether you're a seasoned chef or an aspiring home cook, this appliance will revolutionize the way you prepare meals, delivering delicious dishes with ease.

The ChefIQ Smart Cooker 7 isn’t my first electric pressure cooker, but it is the first one I’ve used that has smart features like internet connected WiFi, touch controls, and a color display panel. While at first glance it looks a lot like other e-pressure cookers on the market, I found the design quite stylish with its matte black metal exterior and glossy piano black glass control panel. It’s an aesthetic that demands to be left out on the counter and seen, afterall, in order to have it be “always on” and connected to the internet – you have to leave it plugged in. To that end, this device doesn’t have a power button by design; plug it in and it simply turns on. The only way to turn it off completely would be to unplug it, though after a period of inactivity it does enter a lower power sleep mode.
It comes with a nice starter pack of accessories like silicone finger mitts, stainless steel steam rack and basket, plastic ladle, and plastic rice scoop. The inner pot has a non-stick ceramic coating inside and out so it’s super easy to clean and PFOA-free, though it’s not exactly scratch-proof, so you do have to take care not to use metal utensils in it. That said, I would have preferred a silicone steam rack and basket over the metal ones that come with the unit because it would have further reduced the risk of marring the non-stick surface.
In terms on functionality, it has the normal features you would expect from today’s pressure cookers including delay start up to 24 hrs, high/low pressure settings, pressure cooking time in 1 minute increments up to 4 hrs, and various modes like slow cook (up to 24 hrs), steam, keep warm, and sear/sauté. Modes are switched by tapping the illuminated options on the outer touch-sensitive glass, while menu selections on the color display are made by turning the rotary dial left or right and giving it a push to make a selection. I do appreciate that the rotary dial when setting the cook time adjusts its increments depending on how fast you turn the dial, e.g. if you turn it slowly the increments are 1 minute, but turn it quickly and the time will jump by 10 or 15 minutes at a time, allowing you to reach a longer time setting without having to scroll endlessly.
A couple of cool innovations I found unique on this unit are the built-in scale, to help you measure ingredients right into the pot by weight (in whole ounces or grams) and one-touch pressure valve release from the LCD, so you don’t have to worry about burning your hand with hot steam exiting the release valve. You can also pre-set your cooking program to perform an “auto-release” at the end of the cooking time with a quick release, pulsed released which lets some steam out in increments over time, or natural release, where the pot will stay under pressure until it naturally cools on its own. It’ll sound an audible alarm before it does the auto-release giving you a 10 second warning, so can ensure you’re clear of the steam valve when it releases.
One of the biggest differences with this smart cooker versus its non-IOT counterparts is the ability to connect it to the internet and control the device remotely from the ChefIQ app. In fact, a smartphone is required for the initial setup. If you don’t have a smartphone with which to install the app, you simply cannot get past the welcome screen on the pressure cooker’s LCD. However, after initial setup you don’t need your phone for use and can choose settings from the control panel manually. That said, pairing with the cooker over Bluetooth, creating an account with ChefIQ, and connecting the device to my home WiFi was simple and straight-forward, taking only a few minutes. Once connected, the app complements the cooker by letting you search and select recipes from the ChefIQ library which then communicates with the cooker directly while taking you through the recipe step-by-step and automatically sending the smart cooker the correct settings so all you have to do is add ingredients to the pot, close the lid, and hit start. You can even create a custom "food profile" in the app by pre-selecting the settings and save it directly to the pressure cooker, so you can access it without having to pull out your phone. However, note that there's no way to delete individual favorites once downloaded to the machine, and you'd have to factory reset the unit which wipes all the downloaded favorites as well as the WiFi settings from the pressure cooker.
Each recipe in ChefIQ’s library is accompanied with video instructions, broken into clips for each step of the recipe providing a visual guide and nearly foolproof instructions for even the least experienced of chefs. While it’s a really cool feature, the library of recipes currently is not super large, and a number of searches returned no results, for example, lamb tagine, beef shank, and pork ribs, despite pork ribs being one of the pre-sets in the machine’s pressure cook menu!
Performance-wise the Smart Cooker worked flawlessly and as expected, allowing me to whip up tender, juicy braised meats, hearty stews, “hard boiled” eggs, and steamed veggies in a fraction of the time it would have taken on a stovetop. Keep in mind that depending on the temperature and quantity of the ingredients you put in the pot, the pre-heat time prior to cooking under pressure could be anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes. The sear/sauté function is great for browning meats and caramelizing onions right in the pot, reducing the number of dishes I need to wash at the end of making a meal.
I also love the ferment setting for this pressure cooker which is similar to the “yogurt” setting found on other e-pressure cookers. Simply start with a gallon of fresh milk and heat in the pot on the sear/sauté setting to 180°F, stir in ¼ cup of plain yogurt as your starter culture, then set the machine on “ferment” which is locked in at 110°F for 8 hours. When the mode is done, you’ve got a pot full of delicious creamy homemade yogurt that you can strain, flavor, and add custom mix-ins as you like.
Overall, the Smart Cooker is a worthy addition to my kitchen appliance arsenal. While I do wish the app's recipe library was broader, I'm sure it will grow over time, and I'd love to see a user submitted section where you can craft and save your own favorite recipes in the future. The pressure cooker itself cooks food rapidly, lets me cook everything in one pot, reducing cleanup, and the app can help simplify the cooking process. From discovering new recipes to step-by-step prep and automatically sending the correct settings to the appliance, cooking in it couldn’t be easier.

After looking it instant pots and other Wi-Fi connected cookers I decided on this one cuz of it's all in one nature. If only it was an air fryer two it would be better but it's a pressure cooker basically that can steam come up pressure cook, and even sous vide. It has a scale built in which is not the most accurate so you might want to still measure things properly and not rely on the scale unless I'm doing something wrong.

Whether you are a professional chef or the cook in your house, this smart cooker is a kitchen appliance one will not regret buying. The smart cooker connects to your phone for the ultimate culinary experience. One will find cooking a lot easier with the dozens of recipes in the CHEF IQ App. You might even learn something new along the way! There are many reasons why this smart cooker can be considered the world’s smartest pressure cooker.
===========================
A WELL ENGINEERED PRODUCT:
CHEF IQ was a Kickstarter Project that was successfully funded by its backers. You can find the product’s page here to read all about the pressure cooker. ( https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/chefiq/chef-iq-creating-a-smarter-home-cooking-experience/description) Long story short, the backers believed in the product and the product delivered. The smart cooker has many different uses that enhances the normal cooking experience in the kitchen. The multiple cook functions, integrated scale, and the ongoing software updates are just some of the few features which makes this smart cooker stand above its competition.
===========================
SETUP AND ACCESSORIES:
The setup process was easy. Simply download the app and follow the instructions to get your smart cooker up and ready for use. The smart cooker is both WIFI and Bluetooth enabled to allow you to pair it up with the CHEF IQ app. You may have to wait for your smart cooker to update depending on what software version the smart cooker was shipped in. Regardless, the whole process was simple to follow. You will be receiving various accessories with the smart cooker to help you with your new culinary experience. A steam basket, steam rack, measuring cup, a rice spoon, a ladle, and CHEF IQ branded silicone mitts.
===========================
FEATURES:
The CHEF IQ smart cooker has various unique features that makes the culinary experience efficient and immersive. The smart cooker saves space, time, and helps the user prevent the usual clutter from the different utensils that are usually needed when cooking a meal. Many of the meals can be as simple as cutting up the meats, throwing in the spices and cut-up meats, and steaming the veggies in the all-in-one smart cooker.
The smart cooker is versatile and has five different cook functions that will make all your meals tasteful: Pressure cook, slow cook, steam, sear/sauté, and ferment. This smart cooker even cooks the simplest of foods such as rice, pasta, and beans in a matter of minutes. A cup of rice is about 8-10 minutes! The LCD touch display is user-friendly and simple to use and navigate. The UI makes the cooking experience a whole lot easier as the display guides you through what to add to the smart cooker. Pair the smart cooker with the app for an even more immersive cooking experience! The integrated scale is one of my favorites as it allows all the measurements to be exact. The capacity of the 6 quarts cooking pot allows the user to make enough food for the whole family.
The smart cooker comes with a sanitize feature that allows the smart cooker to cleanse itself. Here is the recommended method to clean your smart cooker and the accessories: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0267/8118/8171/files/How_to_clean_your_Smart_Cooker.pdf?v=1588184721

The app also allows you to set your custom parameters wirelessly and receive notifications when your meals are ready.
===========================
THE EXPERIENCE:
Now for the experience with the smart cooker. If there was one word to explain the whole process of using this smart cooker it would be perplexing. I have never seen such tech where you could place different types of food inside a pot and at the end would come out a whole meal in a matter of minutes! (faster than a stove and oven) As this is my first time using a pressure cooker, I was a bit nervous I did something wrong and the cooker would end up blowing up but fortunately that that did not happen. All I received in return was a feeling of satisfaction. This smart cooker is truly a great way to cook numerous meals in record time or slow cook meals for when they need to be ready. As an avid meal prepper, this smart cooker is a godsend and the fast cook times seriously help prepare all my meals quickly.
===========================
CONCLUSION:
With everything going on in the world right now, there are still people creating great tech for the public to experience. This smart cooker is one of the newest pieces of tech of 2020. The immersive cooking experience and multiple ways to use this smart cooker can get anyone excited to cook. I highly recommend this smart cooker to anyone. Whether you are the cook of the house, a five-star chef, or a struggling college student that eats ramen every day; you all will benefit from this smart cooker.

Amazing Cooker

This is an outstanding cooker. The ChefIQ is, in fact, a smart cooker. This may be my new favorite of my cookers. If you are looking for a high quality, easy to use, and well built product this is the one for you.
The construction on this is 6 qt. cooker is top notch even down to the packaging. Very professional appearance and packaged well to protect it until it's on your counter. The unit itself is solidly built. Nothing on this feels flimsy at all. The lid fits securely and is easy to lock and unlock. The touch screen on this is responsive and intuitive to use. The internal pot is non-stick and amazingly easy to clean. A great feature of this is that there is a built in scale for those that cook using weight measurements. A very user friendly function is definitely the auto pressure release when cooking is done. No messing around with it and potentially burning yourself. You can really cook anything in this. Boil, sear, poach, fry, etc.
The app is amazing to use and helps to take the uncertainty out of cooking. There are pre-loaded recipes that you can choose from that will actually walk you through the adding of ingredients and getting the cooker going. You can also monitor your cook throughout which is fantastic. Once the cook is done, you will be notified via the app. Another great feature is that you can add recipes to your favorites to save them for later. A bonus is that if there are any updates, it is as easy as updating your phone.
Overall, I really like this ChefIQ and would recommend it to anyone looking to make a move into pressure cooking.

One of the best "smart" appliances I have used

Anyone who enjoys geeking out on the latest tech has probably had the experience of being let down by a new "smart" take on a traditional appliance. Many of these are just gimmicks - a common device that happens to have bluetooth or wifi tacked on. Some of these have frustrating implementations, so now you can only access a particular function through an app instead of right on the device. The Chef iQ Pressure Cooker is NOT in this category. This is quite simply one of the best smart devices I have used, and everything about it is just really cool and "smart" - especially if you haven't used an electric pressure cooker before.
First thing first - if you are considering buying a pressure cooker and have stumbled on this review, I strongly recommend you download the Chef iQ app. You can skip the process of pairing to a smart cooker and see all the recipes that come ready to go for your potential purchase. The guided recipes are AWESOME! Each one has little video clips showing each of the steps as you progress through the recipe, which is great for people like me who don't cook (at all). As you move through the recipe, steps that involve the pressure cooker have their settings automatically loaded on the appliance. Most of the time, all you have to do is hit start once you've added your ingredients, and the cooker engages in sear/sautee/pressure cooking mode automatically. The timer is set as well, so you don't even have to worry about that.
On the cooker itself, there is a knob control, color screen, and a series of touch buttons around the display. Everything works as it should. There are plenty of preloaded cooking operations for different foods that you can select from the display if you don't want to use the app. In addition, you can just do manual cooking like you would with any other pressure cooker. I have tried a quick 'recipe' for an instant pot recommended by a friend, and it worked exactly the same in the Chef iQ cooker as he described.
The cooker does have a kitchen scale built in that measures weight (and calculates water volume from that). I found the kitchen scale to be hit or miss - sometimes it would not register all the weight I was adding. I found that it works more accurately if you lightly press the pot down then lift it out of the cooker and gently set it back inside. I can see the convenience aspect of the kitchen scales but most of the time if I'm adding water I am going to use a measuring cup rather than just pour water in until the scale says I have 32 oz or whatever. Since it has to be sitting flat and steady on a surface for the scale to work, it's not like you can just fill the pot from the sink or something. Still, something to be aware of if this feature caught your eye.
One "downside" to be aware of - if you add this Chef iQ Smart cooker to your kitchen, you'll probably be adding a tablet to your kitchen permanently as well. The app is just really cool, and there are so many recipes to try.

High tech pressure cooker

To be upfront- I received this product as a promotion through the Best Buy Tech Insider Network to test and review. It arrived quickly and I was excited to set it up and make some hard-boiled eggs. I downloaded the accompanying app and right away the machine needed to update the firmware That is where I ran into a problem. It would get to about 8% and then the update would fail. There was no workaround to use the product without updating the firmware. (I find this an issue with some high tech products- if the "tech" breaks, it's useless)
I emailed customer service and I got a personal reply quickly saying they would figure out a fix and get back to me (not an auto-reply- Nice touch!)
The next day they gave me a fix and I was up and running. I went back to my hard-boiled eggs. I used the programmed settings for eggs, hard-boiled, then select how many I was using. My choices were 3, 6, or 12. I wanted 4 but took one out because I wanted to see how it worked using it "egg"sactly as the recipe said. I set it for "medium" rather than hard-boiled. It then told me how much water to add and showed me the increments by the oz with the scale letting me know how much was in the pot.
They came out great. I would call them more hard-boiled than "medium" so I will try the soft setting next time.
My next dish was rice. Again, I used the preprogrammed settings. I had to tell it I was using 1 cup of rice and everything else was automated. I threw in a curveball by adding a frozen pre-cooked chicken breast. The app told me the progress of the pressure building, then the cooking, then the release.
It came out perfectly- no dry spots or crunchy rice (happened with my Instant Pot).
Tonight I tried spaghetti and meat sauce. This is not one of the pre-programmed recipes in the app so I used the spaghetti and meatball recipe. I used the saute feature to brown the meat and then continued from where the sauce, water, and dry pasta were added (it lets you start a recipe from any point).
I could walk away and watch the progress on the app. I did lose connection briefly when I was in my bedroom (not that far from the kitchen but it reconnected quickly).
It does the quick release and lets you pick up the recipe from that point to take off the lid and add cheese.
It came out GREAT! There were a few clumps of spaghetti but they came apart with a little prodding.
I have used an instant pot for over a year with some failures and I can tell that this is definitely idiot-proof. It walks you through all the steps, how much liquid to add, and programs it correctly for your dish. I could play around with manual mode but I am not sure why when I can let the machine tell me how to do it.
Some nice additions is that it comes with these cool silicone finger things to grab the wire rack. Be careful because they do NOT cover your whole hand (picture included). It also has 2 kinds of racks and a plastic spoon and ladle (small).
I give the company high marks for personalized, quick customer service. They have assured me that they are available to help in the future if I have any problems.
I hope they keep updating and adding recipes to the app. They are a great way to start a recipe and you can personalize if you want.

Smart Cooker that works!

THE BREAKDOWN:
The packaging was very well done and protected. It came with the main pot itself, rice paddle, scoop, steaming basket, cooking rack, plastic measuring cup and 2 rubber mitts.
The Smart Cooker is a 6-quart model that weighs approximately 10 pounds. I have seen several other brand cookers like this one and that seems to be the average size. I will certainly easily feed a family of 4. The black exterior isn’t necessarily the most attractive, but it is not that bad either. I typically store these type of appliances in the cabinet anyways so not something that worries me.
On the front of the unit you will find a 2.83-inch LED screen that in used by a knob at the bottom. There is no other actual physical buttons on the machine. There are just areas on the screen that will light up that you can interact with.
One of the cool features is the built-ion digital scale. I have compared this to a stand-alone digital scale that I own and it is very consistent with reading between them.
The CHEF iQ Smart Cooker has pressure cook, slow cook, sear/sauté and steam as buttons on the display. There are some additional modes that are available through a “more” button such as ferment, sanitize and keep warm. There is also a favorites button that will show recipes you have save in the Chef iQ app.
There is also the pressure release options which are quick release, natural release and pulse option that is controlled by a venting valve on the back part of the lid.
Setting up the Smart Cooker was just a little tedious as you had to download the Chef iQ app for iOS and/or Android. You will then need to create an account then use the app the connect the Smart Cooker to your home Wi-Fi network. For me the Smart Cooker would only find my 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi which really isn’t an issue just thought I would mention it. Once connected it may need to do an update before you can use it.
So, to start my testing I decided to make some rice. Tested the scale and let the Smart Cooker calculate. The plan displayed on the screen which for me was 8 min of high pressure cook with a quick release. What a breeze to cook and the rice came out amazing. I personally own a separate rice cooker and I can say that this Smart Cooker will replace that old rice cooker. I have cooked several meals to include a cabbage soup that is pictured and they all were very easy and fast.
Ok, so the app itself was just ok. I think there was just a little over 100 recipes available on the app. There is also a tips and tricks section that had a knife skills 101 and Onions 101 videos. There is a favorite sections where you can save your favorite recipes. It also has a calculator section where you can choose a cooking method such as pressure cook , slow cook, sauté or steam. After you choose one of those it opens up another menu of things to choose from until you get to what your looking for and it give you the recommended cook settings. There is also a more section that lists your appliances, cooking history, about this app, what’s new and few other standard options. Lastly, it has a picture of the cooker in the middle that connects to your Smart Cooker.
PRO’s:
-Has built in scales
-6-Quart capacity
-Dishwasher safe
-Pressure cook to sauté ability
-Large easy to read display
-1000W of power
CON’s:
- Standard black appliance appearance
- The app needs a little more work
SUMMARY:
Overall, I feel that this product worked very well and I would recommend this to a friend if they are in the market for device like this. Not sure if I already owned a Smart Cooker if I would replace it with this one.

Let me begin by saying this has quickly become one of my favorite devices I have owned, and that isn’t just limited to cooking/kitchen. My wife and I love cooking for our 3 boys and this device makes it so much easier.
*******************************************************************************************************************************
Ease of Use – I can not stress this enough, the pressure cooker plus the app make cooking so much easier. It has a ton of recipes and lays everything out for you step by step. It includes images, and videos to help you walk through most recipes. The pressure cooker also includes a few handy accessories; utensils, rack, strainer, etc. I also appreciate that the cooking pot has marks measuring cups and liters on the inside of the pot. This along with the built-in scale makes cooking almost foolproof. We decided to test this out by making one of my sons’ favorite dishes, mac, and cheese. There were no timers to set, the app told you what to put in the pot, seal it, and let it do its thing. Once the pasta finished cooking it walks you through the last step of adding the cheeses and cream and auto start a timer for stirring. In the end, it passed the test, my sons loved it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Build Quality – The pressure cooker seems very sturdy and secure. I feel confident that this should last a long time, and that it is safe to use. This is a well built and engineered product. The app will notify you when it’s about to release pressure (steam) so you can make sure to steer clear of it and has a countdown icon until it completes the process. The locking mechanism is secure and easy to use. I am adding the app to this section as well. The app is also built well. It is intuitive as stated previously has lots of media to help you get each recipe correct. It’s a breeze to get it to connect to the pressure cooker and sends you notifications during different phases of the cooking. On the initial setup, the app helps to connect the Chef iQ to your WiFi, and on my setup, it had to download a firmware update. I think this is great. To me, it shows that the company is making improvements to the experience and making it better.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
An Easy Recommendation – If you are trying to cook more, or if you already spend a lot of time in the kitchen this is a super easy recommendation. It scores high marks with me in safety, builds, and ease of use. I can’t stress enough how easy the app makes cooking just about anything. The recipe list is robust, desserts, vegan options, poultry, meat dishes; the app covers just about all the bases. This makes cooking a treat, and my family is excited to try new dishes.

A Must Have For Your Kitchen

This is my vote for the ultimate must have small kitchen appliance of 2020.
SETUP:
It was easy to setup and connect to my WiFi & Bluetooth using the Chef IQ app. There was a firmware update that only took a couple minutes. You receive all future updates with your purchase so it's supposed to get "smarter" as more updates are released.
The Cooker:
Once turned on the screen displays a bunch of pre-set options to quickly make things like rice, chicken, pasta, baked potato, steamed veggies, ect.. as well as a manual mode where you choose all the settings yourself (you can also control all of this from your phone via the IQ Chef app). When you select what your making, it will tell you how long it will take, and how much water to add if needed. One of the awesome features the Chef IQ has is the built in scale, you don't have to measure anything at all. For example I just made some hard boiled eggs and it said to add 16oz water. The scale will tell you how much water you have added out of the amount needed in real time as it's poured in. It will also weigh things like a chicken breast to determine how long it needs to be cooked for and what settings are needed. This makes it almost impossible to overcook or undercook your meal. It is also easy to clean and even offers a sanitize mode.
Chef IQ App:
Aside from being able to control your pressure cooker via the app and see how much longer until your food is done; it also includes tons of easy recipes with videos of step by step directions to make some delicious gourmet meals within minutes using your cooker.
Overall:
I highly recommend the IQ Chef Pressure Cooker. It makes cooking as easy as can be. Meals are cooked to perfection, and it's faster than using the stove/oven. I honestly believe it is under priced at only $200 because of the quality, features, and functions it offers. It is so much more than just a pressure cooker.

Today was the first time we tried out this smart pressure cooker and so far we both are very happy with the results. We made beef shanks with onions and tomatoes, as we have in other leading electronic pressure cookers. The screen and app displayed every step of the cooking process, making it easy to select the ingredients planned for use in the meal. The cooker has a built in scale, you select the amount of meat you have, it auto calculates the cooking time for each individual meal. Cooking started with sautéed meat, all browned nicely, cooked everything for 35 minutes on Pressure Cook. The beef shanks turned out amazing, very tender and melted in your mouth. As a long time user of a particular e-Pressure cooker we really enjoyed this. The app lets you take control of the process and observe either onscreen in the kitchen or away in another room.
PROS:
1. looks slick, modern and fits any kitchen counter top.
2. It has it's own app with amazing video recipes. And you can control the entire cooking process from the comfort of your couch, from your smartphone.
3. It has a very cool smart screen with step by step instructions.
4. It has a scale. Saves space for another gadget in the kitchen.
5. Browns meat really well.
6. You can time the sautee mode and have it turn off after 5 or more minutes. Very convenient.
7. Makes awesome sushi rice!
CONS:
Choosing between options on the screen individually is a great idea. However, it's not always helpful if still cooking: hands may still be dirty, constantly wash them if sautee mode turned off, or to switch from Sautée to Pressure Cook the need to touch numerous buttons on the screen to choose the right ones.

Cook any kind without many thought

The Pressure Cooker with App connectiviy labeled as Smart Cooker is good for quick cooking without much thought in the process.
The review consist of two point of view, one from as cooking device, second as technology gadget as part of connected devices.
As cooking device, it compared to Instant Pot, that comes connectivity to internet such with an App can have monitoring and recipe instruction capablities from mobile devices.
Its major key benefit is the convenicence of some sort of integrated steps for cooking recipes orders and required time managed or controlled with the cooker and application, that put aside the separated process that would exist cooking with normal instant pot.
As connected device, it introduce new level of sophistication to the cooking as need to get engaged in ChefIq content to look for recipes which will be sent to the cooker, and when desired recipe not found within ChefIq content, need to create separated or custom recipes. Other sofistication user need get to used to is following step by step synchronized with the order and buttons to press. During the actual cooking, that appears to be bit of something to get used to compared to instant pot use experience in which user just have to tap the cook button once based desired preparation.
Going into bit of actual experience of using it, first as recommendation, if plan to use certain day upon reaching it, plan a day ahead or hours for preparedness of the cooker. Upon opening and plugging in, connecting to internet and application, automatically look for firmware update. At this instance, in my experience was that while attempt to update and fails, I don’t have a way around to start cooking unless Firmware installation completes. And the problem was the process had failed multiple times that took about couple of hours, and there isn’t instant customer care to address the problem such to be able to start cooking for dinner. Hence there is business aspect that might not help the smooth start.
Cooking, my wife and tried four recipes, from which 3 guided by the cooker and its application, theses are Beef Stew, Sushi rice, and Beef and Broccoli. Then one manual out of list of recipes Korean style Pork Belly.
The guided cooking tells in the screen what to add, how much, step by step, then instruct to select type of cooking and time intervals. The manual cooing is without it, once place all ingredient in the pot, select manual for type of cooking and time.
One observation made my wife about guided cooking, although in the process seems to put together all needed information and data, it is too much tap or buttons to pressure too many times to follow.
Regarding the taste or flavor of food seems to be bit off although would depend on how strictly followed the recipe and preference of eater. But considering having followed close, in Sushi Rice become bit watery despite of having added bit less of water than instructed in the recipe. Beef Stew was almost ok would say. Beef Broccoli having followed strictly the guide, it was bit burned the beef and broccoli. About manually cooked Pork Belly, was good as well. But in overall was fine for quick and eating normal not being picky.
But for who look for exquisite flavor or personal taste, it takes some of getting used to in order to understand how the cooker work in term of times and quality of ingredient being cooked based on selection of options and learn to adjust. Which case is still a manual or human process.
For review of the device and application aiming for cooking process, one benefit I would say that if have multiple devices connected, all are synchronized. This help when one start with mobile phone and for recipe and cooking monitoring move to a tablet, in this case user have single interface but available same information across multiple devices.
Secondly, of usage of unplugging after the usage, then plugging back for new use, the cooker remember wifi connectivity still, and the user connected to the device if open the application.
Regarding number of recipes available for guided cooking it fees bit limited although ChefIq site mention something around 3,000. For instance searched recipe for beef, there was only 8, and same result for search with Pork.
Downsides: 1) one is about update of firmware as mentioned above. It totally bock the usage if it has to be updated and there is error. User can’t download and update via USB, nor connect directly to the phone to complete and start cooking. Need to wait til get to customer service and wait if they are available immediately. Hence it adds one more layer to address software side of problem.
2) it feels it gets too hot if touch the external surface while cooking or warming.
3) the pot paint get easily scratched. After not even first use, at bottom can see scratched.
4) Too many taps or interaction with the button and app that sometime in the middle seem to get lost in the process and application from the focus of actual cooking.
5) Demand some time to get used to.
6) Food is Ready indicator should appear after the red floating valve released. As is it shows time remaining to release in the same time of indicator Food is Ready. This is bit confusing but dangerouse as prompt to open thinking is ready actually when not yet.
Not sure if as use more, above described experience would get better, but as is in the first three days of usage and 4 meals preparation, Smart Cooker doesn’t seem to add wow factor compared to regular or non digital pressure cooker. For better food taste need to experiment with the cooker till find right taste for one self, has more number of interaction with the device that risk of missing the focus of cooking, and so on but fact of it being connected to application and internet doesn’t seem to add differential experience.
In one way of describing in short would be a Truck F150 for multipurpose attempting to be self driving when it use AutoCruise vs a simple sedan that has defined function and clear of its benefit.
Recommended for who has some level of patient for technology and cooking at same time.

====================================================
Bottom Line Up Front:
====================================================
The Chef IQ smart cooker is arguably one of the easiest and most intuitive pressure cookers out right now. As a relative novice to “pressure” style cooking – I found the “in-App” videos, recipes and tutorials extremely valuable along with helping me to discover new ways to prepare some of my favorite foods. As with any “smart” appliance – be ready to spend some time setting this bad boy up and going through some learning curves figuring out how the “App” and device menus work in the kitchen. All in all – this device is equally as awesome for newbies - as it for more experienced cooks who can leverage all the more advanced features and functionality right out of the box.
====================================================
Styling:
====================================================
As a guy – I appreciate the sleek – “all business” look of the matte black exterior. Styling is always such a “subjective” thing – but from my perspective it blends in with my other counter top appliances and it absolutely worthy of any counter space it may require while not in active use. The devices looks and feels like a quality piece of equipment, with professional looking and feeling knobs and pieces. When the Chef IQ smart cooker is powered off, it gives off the appearance of having a “mini” tablet embedded into the front side of the exterior, which only adds to the “techno-forward” looking appearance that I like to have on display in my kitchen. In actual usage however, the usable touch screen portion is a little under 3 inches in size and predominantly relies on rotating knob and touch screen buttons to move around the menus. It may appear a little on the small side – but all in all this combination of touch screen buttons and a physical knob is still very usable. On a side note - It was a smart choice to use a capacitive touch screen versus the cheaper/older resistive touch screen that are more commonly seen on cheaper/lower quality devices. It’s just a shame that they couldn’t more of that beautiful surface for actual interaction, but perhaps in future revisions we can see some more progress in that area.
====================================================
Device Functionality:
====================================================
I am by no means a professional cook or self-proclaimed pressure cooking “pro” – but I have relied on in the past to make some specific dishes that I felt were only “done right” when this type of cooker. In particular – Flan, tamales, and Chili. I know that may seem like an odd combination of things to list out – however I have a lot of fond memories from growing up with my family using our old, beat-up, handed down pressure cooking pot – complete with old school metal rotating disk/top shaped pressure release valve … I don’t want to spend any time talking about my personal recipes here – but what I do want to mention is that I was blown away by some of the features and functionality that the smart cooker offered right off the bat. Since I was already familiar with those old family recipes, I did need to really dig around for instructions or cooking ideas to get those recipes knocked out … but as I grew more familiar with the machine – I discovered the calculator function that really impressed me. Simply put – you put a food type (like rice, beans, vegetables, or even a type of meat) and then the cooker guides you through the process of adding, selecting and cooking the items correctly in the device.
How cool is that?
………. I found myself experimenting with various things, just to see how they would turn out.
The Chef IQ smart cooker “App” only adds to the coolness of what you can do with the device. There were nicely produces introductory and explanatory videos – all of which added to the experience – but were not necessarily required to operate the cooker itself. I imagine if you considering this cooker – then you most likely looking for these features regardless – however it is nice to know that you are necessarily required to have an “app” just o get it to work right. All that being said, using both the App and the device itself really unlocks all the potential the Chef IQ smart cooker has to offer.
===============================================
Interesting Observations:
===============================================
- The Chef IQ smart Cooker comes with some decent quality cooking accessories in the box such as a cooking rack, a steaming basket, rice paddle and scoop, along with a set of rubber-ish handles/holders
- Like all “smart” things – I had to update the firmware right out the box. Keep that in mind moving forward – that you will most likely have to check for updates regularly as they add more features and functions (along with squashing any bugs that pop up along the way) – so make sure you have internet!
- Don’t forget that the whole pot it nonstick. This is a pro and a con. It was super easy to clean – but I was paranoid about using soft wood or silicone only cookware to work with it – since I am always concerned about long term durability of this types of “nonstick” coatings over time
- The 6qt capacity is perfect for our family of 5. For reference, we have 2 adults, and 3 school aged children – so depending on appetites and portion size – I would say this would suit anywhere from 4 to 6 people on average
- At MSRP this is an expensive appliance to add to your kitchen. There are more affordable and equally as effective pressure cookers out there (including my decade old beat up pot) – but the Chef IQ Smart Cooker adds features and functions that can potentially change the way you cook to justify it’s added cost over competitors
============================================
Closing thoughts:
============================================
After making quite a few recipes and comparing some of my old “tried and true” ones from my previous old school/beat-up pressure-cooking pot – I am thoroughly impressed with the Chef IQ Smart Cooker abilities and ease of use. In the short time I have had it – it has cut down my cooking times, introduced me to new recipes and cooking techniques – along with looking super cool on my counter (as shallow as that may sound) – it sure beats looking at my old beat up metal pot from before. The App is just icing on the cake in the regard that it adds extra accessibility, instruction, and functionality on a variety of things that the average user may not even be aware of – or even possible on/in a pressure cooker. For me, this is a 5 Star product all the way – particularly for making cooking fun, easy, and seem “new” again in my house.

Cooking Demystified!

Cooking and baking had previously not appealed that much to me; I was put off by the daunting tasks of following guided recipe instructions and all that go along with them. I happen to like all things tech/gadgets so naturally I was intrigued by the CHEF iQ 6qt Pressure Cooker/Multi Cooker and all Chefman touts as its capabilities.
Included in the box are a pair of heat resistant mitts, an accessory kit (ladle, spoon, steam rack, steam bowl) and a measuring cup. The product is essentially a 6 quart 1000 watt pressure cooker with WIFI connectivity that helps deliver guided cooking instructions via an app. The unit ports a 2.8 inch LCD with touch control. The CHEF iQ app available from the Google Play Store (or Apple App Store) is required for initial setup along with an account.
The Smart Cooker can pressure cook, sear/sauté, steam and slow cook. Upon specifying the cooking mode, it proceeds to list the available options (or produce) for that mode (e.g. rice, beans, chicken etc.) There is also a manual mode where the user can specify pressure level, cooking time, delayed start, pressure release mode and the keep warm function. The intelligence of this cooker is the deep dive it performs upon beyond the cooking mode and product selection to obtain as much information as possible before requesting the quantity (e.g. weight of chicken breasts, number of cup of rice etc.) If for some reason the user prefers, the Smart Cooker can weigh the item in question to estimate the optimal cooking options. My first dish was a simple bowl of long grain rice. I found out, however, that washing rice prior and using the scale feature can throw it off as it overestimates the rice quantity in its damp state. Upon correcting this, my second attempt was without a hitch. I was also pleasantly surprised by the duration of the cooking process as I had become so accustomed to my old dedicated rice cooker that takes about an hour.
As formidable as the hardware is, the CHEF iQ app, in my opinion, stole the show in my experience. One of the most beneficial features is the short videos (GIFs) of each step along with a repetition of the required ingredient quantity; it literally doesn’t get any easier than this. Via the app, I was able to successfully deliver a brown sugar banana cake. The highlight of the process for me was the sheer intuitiveness of the app. It starts by familiarizing the user with all the ingredients (so they could be prepped and within reach). The videos (GIFs) then follow once the guidance begins. It is easy to go back a step should there be the need to. The “magic” is the seamless transition: upon completing all the necessary steps, the app communicates with the Smart Cooker and begins the “cooking” phase. In addition, the app keeps the user in the loop via a countdown timer and notifications of when the pressure is being released or even when the recommended cool period has elapsed!
My only gripe is that the inner bowl, although supposedly dishwasher safe, appears to be losing some coating after only two uses. The inner non-stick part of the pot is fine but I was a little disappointed as I intentionally used the softest non-abrasive sponge I had but still ended up with the scuffs.
In conclusion, I cannot wait to try my hands on the other recipes available via the app and I actually do see myself developing a love for what was once a very daunting art; the CHEF iQ is a winner in my book in this regard. In theory, via future updates, this Smart Cooker can only get smarter; time will tell if the manufacturer and their developer hold their end of the bargain.

The Chef IQ pressure cooker exceeded my expectations in every way!
Last year, I purchased a quality pressure cooker for my wife, but I never enjoyed cooking with it myself. I’m a sucker for technology though and the Chef IQ pressure cooker is packed full of it!
Initial setup required I download the Chef IQ app, sync the pressure cooker to my phone via Bluetooth, and setup WiFi so it could download a firmware update. This was the only minor hiccup as the app seemed to think the pressure cooker got disconnected during the update and told me to sign in again. Once the firmware update completed, it was smooth sailing.
The Chef IQ screen is touch sensitive though I found using the front dial and button, or the app, to be a bit more reliable and easy to use. The built in menu in the Chef IQ app is what makes this product amazing. I was able to select a recipe in the iOS app (I tried out the Greek Chicken and rice as an easy first recipe), and it instantly appeared on the front screen of my pressure cooker. It has a full prep list to get your ingredients in place, which you can share via text message if you’re grocery shopping, and check off items as they are prepped.
Once the prep is done, you have the option to “Start Guided Cooking”. It gives you step by step instructions, with an optional video demo accompanying every single step. As an added bonus, they have generic videos for things like how to chop parsley that appear as optional instructionals where applicable.
There is a built in timer for each step that tracks how long it cooks for, and the pressure cooker automatically switches to the next mode as needed. For instance, it initially started off in sauté mode, but once I completed that step, it switched off so I could add the ingredients for the next pressure cook step. Once I added the additional ingredients and secured the lid, I simply pressed start and it started the pressurizing step.
A major gripe of my previous pressure cooker is that it didn’t give a good indication as to what was happening while it was pressurizing so you didn’t really know what the full cook time was. It would be, for instance, 15 minutes plus the mystery time it takes to pressurize. The Chef IQ gives you a % progress of the pressurization process so you can see how it is pressurizing and have a better idea of when the food will actually start cooking.
The Chef IQ app also sends push notifications when it is time to move to the next step, so if you want to walk away from it while it is cooking, you don’t have to worry about missing anything.
Once the pressure cook completed, it automatically released the pressure, and dinner was complete. The simple Greek chicken and rice recipe turned out great, and the step by step app-led process was absolutely fun to use.
I’ll probably still keep my other pressure cooker in case I want to cook 2 things at once, but this Chef IQ pressure cooker will absolutely be my go-to.
I can’t wait to go through the app and try out new recipes, and I hope they continue to grow and add new recipes and features.
If you’re a techie that also likes to cook, you will absolutely not be disappointed. Even if you’re not, the large display screen showing exactly what is happening at a given time makes this stand out above other pressure cookers by far! It also has a sanitize cycle, which I appreciated, and the kid is top rack dishwasher safe.
Just buy it! You’ll thank me later.

This cooker is the best cooker you could ever want. Connecting to the app is simple. The recipes on the app are easy and automatically connect to instacart for fast and easy ordering of ingredients. With thd guided recipes you can easily connect to your device and get exact measurments with the scale in the cooker and alerts when in app timers are complete. You wont regret this cooker.

Great product, well made, many uses & easy to use. We've used as a pressure cooker, steamer, rice cooker & sometimes just a scale for weighing products/ingredients. If you need this for even one of it's functions then buy this & not another product! You'll use it more than you think & you'll enjoy it, too. :) Especially if you can get it on sale!

The best part of the machine is the recipe app. It’s your standard pressure cooker with a computer brain. The first one I recieved was a dud where it wouldnt update the firmware. Returned to BB and they shipped me another. Gluten free and all kinds of recipes provided via the app cook to perfection. The first thing we made was banana (gluten free), my first time ever, and everyone loved it. The one thing I don’t like is that once the steam is ready to release there’s no steam cap to keep it from going everywhere. We have an Instapot with this feature and it keeps things neat within the cooker and drip cup. Chef-iQ adds that feature and Instapot has a competitor with a better offering. Got it on DOD (Deal Of the Day! Great addition to any kitchen with a huge benefit of the app.
