    Rust in basket

We’ve been wanting an air fryer for a while and we finally got one when it was on sale. It does exactly what it is intended for. Little to no oil is needed. We’ve done chicken nuggets, fries, black bean patties, roasted garlic, crab cakes, and reheated leftovers since we bought it! One thing I did notice was after washing it, there were signs of rusting inside the fry basket where the screws are. Aside from the rust, this air fryer is great!

I don't know how I've lived without this! I've been eyeballing them for quite awhile, but never saw one in action until recently. Some friends had me over for dinner, and everything was made in theirs. Said they found it at Best Buy for a good sale price, and I wanted one right away. So.......Best Buy price matched one for $20 less and I'm happy! Air frying away, plantains are off the charts!

Shift to a healthier cooking option!

This is my first air fryer and thoroughly impressed with this healthy choice. The controls are pretty self-explanatory. Liked the digital screen and touch control options. The basket size is comparable to a dinner plate and holds descent amount of food (can easily serve 2-3 people). Tried several frozen food so far and now addicted to using this more than my deep fryer and oven. The food is crispier and I learned few tricks on how to make my food more crispy - just toss the food more often while you cook. Cooked frozen curly fries, mozzarella sticks, breaded chicken wings, and chicken drumsticks so far. The chicken drumsticks weren’t cooked all the way and had to add more time then what was suggested in the user guide and still not to the level I get when I deep fry them. Have to still experiment with different foods to see if this is better cooking option but is definitely a healthier option for someone who likes to eat more fried food. The cooking time is a little longer but a good tradeoff for healthier cooking choice. Easy maintenance and the basket is top rack dish washer friendly. I did see a difference in the crispiness and reduced cooking time when I opened the basket and tossed the food more often. Overall happy with the Chefman air fryer and would definitely recommend it as a healthy cooking option.

The TurboFry 3.7 Quart Air Fryer by Chefman is a residential sized air fryer with a digital display. It’s designed for countertop use, and is great for frozen foods. It is easy to use and to clean. Our experience with foods so far has been great. What It Comes With Inside the box you will find the air fryer, an instruction manual, and a recipe booklet. Using the Fryer The Air Fryer is really easy to use. Put your food in the tray, and load it into the fryer. Plug the machine in, set the temperature and timer, and wait. When the food is ready open it up and remove the food with tongs (you will want some of these as the basket and food will be really hot). It’s pretty hard to mess up. With the digital display you are not guessing about the time or temperature that you have set. Clean Up Clean up is easy with this fryer. Since it’s an air fryer there’s no grease being used, which makes clean up a lot easier. The basket can be hand washed or put in the top rack of the dishwasher. The rest of the unit can be wiped down with a damp cloth. Food Trials and Results We tried some frozen foods for our testing; chicken nuggets and mozzarella sticks. On our first attempt we tried the chicken nuggets. They turned out crispy on the outside and the meat was tender and juicy. Our next attempt was with frozen mozzarella sticks. They went from freezer to fryer, cooked in 8 minutes and were perfect. Both attempts cooked faster in the fryer than our oven could preheat. This is a huge time saver and works really well, especially with a toddler in the household. Tips for Using the Fryer For things like chicken nuggets, I’d suggest turning them half way through. This will prevent sogginess on one side of the nugget, giving it an even crispiness. Also, the manual suggests not to stack food. The food will cook better when it has even airflow around it. Stacking the food could result in an uneven heating. Here is a quick list of Pros and Cons for the air fryer Pros *Food Quality is good – Even crispiness on outside. Tender and juicy inside. *Fast – Cooked foods faster than I could preheat the oven. *Easy to Use – Very few steps. Digital display gives you accurate temperature and time selection. *Cleanup is Easy – Not greasy. Food tray can be hand washed or put in top shelf of dishwasher. Cons *Had some off gassing during the first use *Capacity is small – 2 people per use. Even less if you aren’t stacking the foods. I’m giving the Chefman TurboFry 4 stars because there’s not a way to give it 4.5. The only significant issue I have with the fryer is the amount of food that it can cook at once. We might benefit from a larger size. Otherwise, this air fryer does a wonderful job, it’s easy to use, and cleanup is simple. We are looking forward to trying more foods with this product.

    Perfect For Frozen Food

I admit that I didn't use this to make any of the amazing looking food in the included receipt book, but it rocked everything I threw at it. I was a bit skeptical, but it proved to be quicker that a toaster oven, easier than a real oven, with results better than any microwave. Frozen french fries, fish sticks, chicken nuggets, and taquitos came out perfect. Hots dogs cooked quickly with great crisp on the skin - you can even toast the buns. This takes a lot less time than an oven and everything was crispy. There is no preheating and the non-stick tray just wipes clean. It is easy to use, my aunt who hates technology had no problem using the controls. You plug it in, put the food in the tray, and set the time and temperature. It stops automatically when the time is up. It isn't small, but the size is reasonable. It is lite enough to move easily, but doesn't feel cheap. It is also surprisingly quiet - barely audible over a normal conversation (we bought another air fryer from an infomercial and it sounded like a blow dryer, it went to Goodwill). It does get a little warm, you have to leave space around it (especially the rear vent). And you should plan on making smaller size items, where the air can circulate around what is cooking (like chicken nuggets not a whole breast or sliders not full size burgers). You also want to keep the batches reasonable (the tray is a circle about the size of a dinner plate). Not only would I recommend it, but I am buying another one for my mother-in-law so she can try it. It might even have found a permanent space on the counter next to the blender.

I ended up buying the ninja because the basket on this was too small and the rack and bottom of the basket began to show wear after three short months of using it. It was extremely easy to use.

Ok, I'll admit it. I love fried foods. My heart, on the other hand, does not. So enter the air fryer. In general, they are designed to allow enjoying the same type of foods -- with less fat, grease and oil. The Chefman air fryer does just that. It does take a little longer to cook than using a deep fryer (thin-cut fries took 10 min. rather than a couple) or frying in a pan, but to me, that's an acceptable tradeoff for having a little healthier meal. I tried some basic fried foods I really like: corn dogs, burritos, chicken strips, and french fries . While it's not quite the same, I'm happy with the flavor and quality of the food that came out of the air fryer. If I spritzed them with a little oil, it's more baked than fried. If I coated them with oil and used a paper towel to absorb the excess, it was similar to what comes out of a deep fryer, though I suppose it's not quite as healthy. The controls are simple: set the temperature and the time. No programmability other than that, but it gets the job done. It takes up just a little counter space and is very easy to clean. Just let it cool, then take out the tank and the basket (any excess oil will drip through the vents and into the tank) and wash. These items are dishwasher safe. It comes with a 1-year warranty, but I can't speak for the durability as I've only used it a few days. So far though this air fryer works well and am quite happy with it, and certainly recommend it for those who want to enjoy traditional fried foods without all the grease and oil. Clam strips next!

I made one year of good use and no problems and then IT JUST STOPPED TURNING ON. It is currently taking up space on my counter top. I tried different wall outlets but to no avail. I have to give the Quality and Value a 1 because it only worked for 1 year and almost 2 months.

    Pretty Cool Little Unit

That pretty much sums it up: Pretty cool little unit. Buddy of mine has sworn by his air fryers for years. I never really understood why, but now I understand. This thing is simple, quick, healthy and energy efficient, especially as compared to a full size home oven. First impressions: Pretty decent typical consumer grade. Certainly adequate for residential needs. Simple operation. Three pieces. Quite self explanatory. Plug it in, insert basket, adjust temp +/-, adjust time +/- and Start/Stop button. That's it, nothing more, nothing less. Quick note: There is no "On/Off" button. Plug it on, insert basket and it turns on automatically. Remove tray and it shuts off. Idiot-proof. Tossed some frozen fried shrimp in at 350 for 7 minutes and I had nice, crisp, hot shrimp. Would have taken 15 minutes at 350 in a standard oven. Saved time, saved energy thus saving money. Win, win, win. Same with cod filet's. For a busy family, this is a great time-saver. Clean up was simple. Basket and tray give a simple rinse and then into the dishwasher. The fryer itself, simple wipe with mild soap and sponge, dry with paper towel and you are golden. In all honesty, I looked for a reason to give this unit 4 stars instead of 5, but just could not find any legit reason. End of the day, I would certainly recommend to a friend. Disclaimer: This product was provided free, or at reduced cost, for the purpose of reviewing the product. Nevertheless, the above review, be it positive, negative, or anywhere in-between, is a 100% honest review, and the price paid played absolutely no part in my review.

The air fryer design is clean, compact and the digital readout is clear and very simple to use. The non-stick surface was simple to clean but did require some slight scrubbing as water alone was not enough to clear the surface. The manufacturer states the basket is dishwasher safe, but in my experience nonstick surfaces deteriorate faster when placed in the dishwasher so this was cleaned by hand. The interface is touchpad so there are no physical buttons. Once you plug it in, it automatically starts up. I would suggest unplugging when not in use. I have never used an air fryer before and was very impressed by how well it cooked the food. My test was some Turkey Hot Links that typically do not crisp well. The Chefman made sure that these not only cooked quickly, but that the skin got crisp like a more traditional hotlink. They were cooked after 10 minutes and needed to be turned to crisp the other side. Had I turned them after 5 minutes they likely would have been completely crisp and cooked in 10 minutes rather than 15. Great little unit. Can adequately prepare food for 2 and maybe 3 people.

This is my first air fryer and I at first was surprised by the hype. I've heard of family and friends buying and recommending air fryers because of the taste of food being consistent when cooked with regular fryers and it being much healthier. When frying foods in this air fryer compared to regular fryers, I can attest to food coming out crispy and just as delicious! The air fryer came complete with instructions on how to use and a quick guide on times and temperatures for frying common foods. A nice addition! I at first thought a little oil was to be put into the fryer but no! Also it is small and compact and can be placed somewhere convenient in a kitchen setting. Although compact, it fits a good amount of food well (few pieces of fish, a batch of fries). I also liked the bright display and capacitive touch buttons. I cooked fries and boudain using the air fryer and the foods came out fully cooked, crispy, and with little to no grease visible. When cooking the food, I wanted to check on the food and opened the air fryer. At first I wasn't sure if it would turn completely off when doing this since to turn it on you need to push in the food compartment. When checking the food while air frying, it turned off but turned right back on where it left off. Overall I am part of the air fryer hype now and will be using it more often for fried foods. It produces healthier fried foods (didn't know it was possible!) and can do it in the same amount of time.

This fryer, which works with little to no oil, gives you the hot and crispy taste of the foods you love really quickly and conveniently. Anything you can think of that is or can be cooked by frying works great in here. The product is not too large and the cooking tray is large enough for a bag of fries. The tray is easy to clean, so this product doesn’t require much care. If you love crispy, easy, non-time consuming foods/cooking then thus fryer is the perfect kitchen accessory.

    Air frying & Digital

What I liked: Digital controls. Are pretty convenient to touch a button and set your time and cooking temp, other times you sort of just want to turn a knob. I’m more of an analog (knob controls) person but I can appreciate that some people love having higher tech digital controls. One thing that I notice right away is that the digital controls are different. This is good, as many brands seem to buy their Air fryers from a single source then re-brand them. The Chefman digital Air Fryer is different. This fryer has you set the temp then timer, plus the fact that you can stop cooking on a dime (a feature you can’t do on the analog one) makes this a better choice in my opinion. I cook some hot wings at 375 for 20 mins and they came out perfect (pictured). What I disliked: Wished it was a little bigger like 4.5 quarts. Final Thoughts: This air fryer is a much better alternative than running an oven during the summer and if you follow the directions can use it as much as myself which is three times a week with enjoyment.

    No Mess and Healthier Cooking

This was my first air fryer and I wasn't sure if I really needed one to be honest. The unit is a bit bulky for me and takes up more kitchen counter space than I thought. Also, the cooking area (basket) was smaller that I expected. However, I cooked bacon in it and it was so much easier and made no splashing mess, unlike cooking on the stove top or in the microwave. I think the removable tray helped to get rid of excess grease. I prefer thick-cut bacon, so cooked it two minutes longer than the manual recommended. The bacon came out crispy but still meaty the way I like it. Make sure you read the manual first, though. The LCD display starts flashing as soon as you plug the unit in, so you'd think it already started cooking but it hasn't. Also, the basket and the removable tray are NOT dishwasher safe. That was a bummer, but the cleanup wasn't too bad after letting the grease cool off and harden. You can easily wipe it off with a paper towel, then wash with dish soap and hot water. One less star for its bulky size, smaller cooking area (for its bulky size) and the basket/removable tray not being dish washer safe.

I had been wanting to get an air fryer for quite some time, but wasn't sure if I would like it and they can get somewhat pricey. When I saw this air fryer on sale for half off and I knew I had to scoop it up. I have used this nearly every day since getting it. Super easy to use, I think my biggest problem is remembering to actually hit the start button after setting the time and temperature. Good size for our family of three, but would recommend a larger basket size for a family any bigger. It cooks everything to a perfect crisp and allows me to not worry about overcooking things. The only thing I have found that I don't like is that the temperature only goes in 25 degree increments. Most recipes I use fit within the temperatures needed, but there have been a few that I have to decide to set the temperature either higher or lower and adjust the time. I would definitely purchase this again and when the time comes purchase a bigger unit.
