The distance coverage is mind blowing. I didn’t measure it, but it is incredible that it picks my car from such distance.

Purchased this for my wife but it only worked 1 winter. I called tech support because my account says I have warranty until 9/2024. Tech support told me that I do not have any support. See attached photo. I can pay to talk to geek squad for troubleshooting. Super convenient when I need remote start now. Make sure you purchase with a credit card so you can do a chargeback when it stops functioning.

Excellent quality and very long range. Far longer range from keys than my old remote start from 2008. Works great. No problems
Only complaint is it would be nice if both key fobs had audio notification and not just one of them. I guess some people prefer fob with no audio notifications. This could be solved if both fobs had an option to turn audio notifications on or off.

The Compustar worked perfectly with my vehicle 2016 Honda Odyssey. Dylan and Robert who installed it did a perfect job and explained it very professionally and friendly. Really appreciate the help from BestBuy Geek Squad team.

Was installed by Best Buy then one later it stopped working then the next day my vehicle wouldn’t start at all. Took it to a mechanic and the said the module shorted a wire to my ignition. I had to take it back to Best Buy to be removed and everything put back to factory. Wasted about 20 hours of my life between installation, removal, finding a vehicle repair place with an opening, getting it repaired, picking up and returning rental, and multiple trips to Best Buy plus hours on phone/hold. It was installed on my 2015 Santa Fe sport.

I got this thinking as free installation according to the reviews but I didn’t get free installation. I requested the Best Buy if they can install with free, but they said $110 will be the installation charge. That means purchase the device doesn’t include installation which made me upset, so I returned the device. Thus, be sure it doesn’t include free installation.

2-Way is the Way!

There are 2 stories to everything. The 2 stories for this Compustar - 2-Way Remote Start System Model:CS4905S-KIT are installation and the system.
I'll start with the installation. The 2 installers at the Northtown Mall location were all business. They were young but experienced was my take. They were working there tails off when I dropped off the car and when I picked it up. They were able to answer all my questions and then some. I wish I had read some of the manual and such as the started comes from the factory with a 25 minute run time. I would have preferred 15 minutes. The guys already were working on 2 cars and I didn't want to wait as they offered to change the setting but would have to finish the cars they were working on before getting to my car. I respect that. My mistake. The installer told me it would take 2 hours. They called me at the 1 hour mark telling me it was completed. How awesome is that! Overall very impressed with installation.
Now about the starter. I had it installed in a new 2021 Mazda 6 that has push button door locks and push button starter with no issues 3 weeks ago. Yes, the remote works from long distances through concrete walls and glass as advertised. I work in a concrete building more than 200 yards from the car's parking spot. The remote starts the car every time and tells me that it has been started. The reason 2-way starters are the way to go, immediate feedback. Here is one of the annoyances of the starter. When you activate the remote to start the car, the remote chirps LOUDLY once. When the car starts, the remote LOUDLY and ANOYINGLY chirps back 3 lengthy times. There is no way to change the volume of the chirp that I have discovered. The installation techs didn't know of a means to quite the chirps either.
I suggest placing the remote in a deep well insulated pocket. Best of all the feedback is with in 10 to 20 seconds. Other than a small sensor that is placed on my windshield near the rearview mirror, there are no cosmetic changes to see that would indicate you have this remote installed. I took the car in for its first factory recommended service at the dealer and they didn't say a thing. Warranty still in order I would presume. I am very happy with the remote and the purchase. I purchased this on a daily deal and what a deal it was, $300 included installation. I would still be happy had I paid the regular price of $450 to $500. There is no subscription services fees that must be paid to use this remote starter. Had one of those remote starts before and would never recommend to anyone. Sure you can start your car from Iceland but do you really need to?

Remote start, works as advertised. Yes, it comes with its own Fobs - two of them - one is two-way, and the other is not.
I had this product installed at the Best Buy store in Greenville, SC. AWESOME experience! I can not recommend the techs at this store enough! Very knowledgeable, worked with my schedule, quick, friendly, and explained everything about the remote start to me before I left. Had this installed on a Saturday. Worked me in before the store even opened, on a huge gameday, at that! The tech explained everything to me, and configured the Fobs as I asked, but here is what I would do differently. First, you can have this programmed to keep your vehicle running for 15 minutes, 30, 45, and maybe even an hour before it shuts off. I had the tech program the Fobs for 15 minutes thinking this would be plenty. Go with the 30 minutes. Trust me on this. You can always cut your vehicle off if needed or back on, but I will eventually have this re-programmed for the 30. You have the option to also have your factory Fobs programmed. Seemed like a great idea at the time, so I did. I shouldn't have, and the tech explained this to me as to how how some folks like it and others do not. The remote start is triggered with your factory Fob by pressing the lock button three times. Well, my vehicle locks and beeps after pressing the lock button twice, and if I accidentally press three times, my vehicle starts when I do not really intend for it to. User error - I know. I would just have the Fobs it comes with programmed, and not your factory Fobs. It does have security features built into the Fob and the remote start itself. I drive a manual and an automatic, so it took me some getting use too. The remote start depresses the break, so that when you unlock your doors and enter, you need to place your key into the ignition before pressing the break (habit is to press the break first thing) or your vehicle will shut off. This is a security feature, so if someone saw your vehicle running, and tried to steal it, as soon as they tap the break, it's inoperable. The Fob also blinks red and beeps if the door is opened, which is nice. I will know if someone is attempting to or does open the door while I am inside. The Fob is small, and yes, you can install this remote yourself, but I recommend Best Buy (it's usually free) and their service is warrantied. The Fob does blink green and make an audible noise three times when your remote start is successful, and blinks red if it isn't. I have tried the 3,000 ft. range, even though cinder brick walls, etc., and so far, it has worked! Lastly; I have had a couple of instances as to where the Compustar Fob did not activate the remote start. Tried my factory Fob, and it worked just fine. It is very rare, so I am not sure what is going on. Overall, I am satisfied thus far with this Compustar remote start.

A Luxury That Now Has Become a Necessity For Me!

Even for my fairly basic car, a Nissan Versa Note, adding a remote start turns it into a luxury car! It is warm when the weather is cold and vice-versa. 2-way system ensures that the signal was received and that it really is warmed up when you get there. This product adds value to your vehicle no matter what kind it is. Best Buy Service Techs make this product just work as it is intended. Do NOT try installing yourself - it takes professional installation.

Purchased for my daughter’s 2019 Mazda CX9. This has worked awesome. She is a nurse and works in a hospital with a parking garage that is roughly 2000 ft away. She’s stood at the window of the hospital and hit the remote start and it worked from that long distance. Came out to a warm car when it was 7 degrees outside. The great thing about this 2 way unit it the way it beeps back at you letting you know the car was started. She said this was the best gift she’s had in a long time! Also saved a few hundred over what the dealer wanted to charge and it would t come close to the distance this system does.

I recently purchased the Compustar 2-Way Remote Start System with installation included for my 2012 Honda CR-V, and the entire experience has been seamless. Booking the installation appointment was quick and hassle-free, and the Geek Squad team did an excellent job with the setup.
The product itself works flawlessly—starting my car remotely has been a game-changer during the cold Midwest mornings. The 3000-foot range is impressive, and having two remotes included is a great bonus.
One of the standout aspects was Best Buy’s price match guarantee. After my purchase, I found a better price within BestBuy, and Best Buy promptly honored it, making the deal even sweeter.
Overall, I’m thoroughly impressed with both the product and the service. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a reliable remote start system!

Added this to my 2021 Mazda 6. The range on the 2-way remote is excellent, every bit of the 3,000’ it’s advertised to do. If you dont like to carry the extra fob all the time, it will work with factory remote at close range. The install was thorough and the tech even set the 2 auxiliary functions. If the outdoor temp is below 36, the rear defogger comes on automatically and if the internal temp of the is 76 degrees or higher, the ventilated (cooling) seats turn on. This is my third time installing this, preciouly haf it on my son’s 2012 Camry and my 2015 Camry. Same luck (without the aux functions) and after 4 years, still working perfectly on my son’s 2012. Added the optional Drone this time and love it as well.

I recently installed a car starter and I am absolutely thrilled with its performance! The installation process was smooth, and the device has exceeded my expectations. The remote start feature works flawlessly, allowing me to start my car from a distance, ensuring it's warm and ready to go on chilly mornings. The range is impressive, and the response time is quick, providing added convenience. I also appreciate the additional security features, giving me peace of mind knowing my car is protected. The device is user-friendly, and the controls are intuitive. Overall, I highly recommend this car starter to anyone looking for a reliable, efficient, and user-friendly solution to make their driving experience more comfortable and secure.

Very Good 4.5 stars. I've had the new remote starter for two months now. The install took some time but was well done and worth the wait (install was done in Danvers, MA). The car starts right away from virtually anywhere, including anywhere in the house, in stores, and even 1/4 mile away while I was riding in another car. The two-way Compustar remote gives you a confirmation that your car has started (your original remote is not necessary for the install or daily use). The only surprising thing is while the door lock command is instantaneous, the unlock has a few seconds delay. It's a little annoying but not worth giving up a whole star. I got a great deal on it from BestBuy, and only wish I had done this a lot sooner. Absolutely recommended.
PS - I found the remote's audible confirmations too much. You can silence the sounds coming from the remote by pushing the Trunk & Unlock buttons (on the remote) at the same time for 7-8 seconds, and just rely on the visual confirmations the remote gives you.
To turn the sounds on again, push the same buttons again for 7-8 seconds.
