4TB internal is fine, installation is tricky

Unfortunately, installing a 4TB so that it's one Win 11 boot drive (c:) was not the first outcome when the machine was returned. The drive seems to be okay; we'll see what happens when I get it back the second time. It's an excellent drive, but cautious installation is needed.

Eazy to isntall and configure. I upgraded the old hard drive to this new one and realized the speed that I recovered by using this new super fast hard drive. the old bottle neck is gone and the machine is performing at its best. I love it.

Did not work with Eufy HB3

Got this for my eufy HB3, sadly, it didn’t work. It wouldn’t format through the HB and even after using an actual laptop to try and format it, it wouldn’t let me as it’s now just a “read only” format. HB3 might have tried to format it, but when I used a laptop, it had 3 different partitions. So either it was used, or it’s not compatible. I installed an older SSD which worked fine.

Perfect addition to my Gaming rig

I needed a lot of fast space for gaming at a good price to add to my gaming rig. I already had a 2tb m.2 drive for my boot drive and game sizes are getting insane. So I decided i needed a solid state drive to put in off SATA so I can enjoy some fast speed games with a large capacity and these 2.5" ssd's really dropped to decent prices. At like 210 right now for the Crucial 4tb that's pretty solid as most are pushing a lot more. This is in comparison to the Microcenter inland drives prices.
So far easy peazy install on windows 10. Popped it in my 1st open sata slot. Went into drive management. Gave it a fresh partition format. and boom. ready to go. Assigned my Steam to acknowledge it in settings and now I can install tons of games on it.
Highly recommended. No issues.

After using this drive for a day, I was on the fence about returning it. For those unaware, it uses QLC flash and has no DRAM buffer. Sometimes drives can get away with that, but this one really can't. It was replacing two 90% full 2TB drives, so there was a lot of data to copy over. I'm really glad I don't use or change the data on it very often. It took about 8 hours to transfer the first 1.65GB of data from the first drive, and equally as long for the second. The only reason I'm not returning it is because I only have to do that once. After a couple seconds of its SLC cache exhausting, the average speed was 20MB/s. That's not something I've seen from a storage drive since the late 90's.
Once all the data is on it, read speeds are excellent. If you are like me and have two full 2TB drives of data that doesn't change, this could be an option as long as you have 16 hours to dedicate to the initial transfer. It is a good price compared to other 4TB drives, but honestly it would have been less of a headache and less hassle to just get a traditional platter-based 4TB drive. The data transfer would have been much faster and the price per GB would have been more agreeable. Of course, you won't have the same access speed once the data is there, but overall, it would have taken a lot less of my time. My PC case doesn't have any provisions for 3.5" Sata drives at the moment, so unfortunately that wasn't really an option for me.
The day after buying this, I went to Best Buy and bought an additional 4TB drive. This time I made sure it used TLC flash (3-bits per cell) and had a DRAM cache. I've been copying over files from other drives on that one and been achieving well over 300MB/s all throughout, even accounting for when it exhausts its SLC cache. Yeah, it was appreciably more expensive than the MX500, but based on my experience yesterday, that price was completely worth it to me.

Not a particularly "sturdily" constructed 2.3" SSD but for its storage size and price I doubt there are many more affordable options especially with m.2 drives becoming a new industry standard. It's holding up well for storing the majority of my larger sized AAA titles and some video files

Do not buy these, horribly flawed write performanc

I made the mistake of purchasing 4 of these, only to find out they are SERIOUSLY flawed with write performance. After looking up tech reviews, it confirmed my suspicion. These are "DRAM-less" budget drives, and after a short write burst performance will absolutely face plant to ~50MB/s. Cannot recommend. Returning all 4.
