This drive does what it says. I do get the advertised speeds when this device was connected to my computer USB C to USB C Super Speeds port. I bought this drive for my PS5. It comes with an adapter to make one of the ends USB C to USB A. When I connected it to the back of my PS5 it didn't want to format the drive for some reason. But the drive did work on my PC with the adapter. Once I formatted the drive on my PC. I was actually able to use it on my PS5 with the adapter in the back of the console. Thought that was weird. I did not test the speeds with the adapter on. From googling it seems that it should be able to do it if you put the device in a Super Speed USB port on your PC. According to Sony/Playstation all USB ports are Super Speed. https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/ps5-extended-storage/ so technically the adapter should work just fine to get advertised speeds with the device. But for whatever reason Sony recommends the user to use the USB C Super Speed port on the front of the PS5 for external hard drives. You can read this here: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/ps5-usb-ports-guide/ when you click on the USB storage drop down. ("USB storage should be connected to a Superspeed USB port. It is recommended that you connect PS5 extended storage to the USB Type-C port on the front of your PS5 console. The USB Type-A ports on the back of your PS5 console can also support extended storage. USB storage is not compatible with the USB Type-A port on the front of a PS5 console.") Because of that I didn't go into more testing as to if the device does 1000MB/s with the adapter on. But once again, if you google my understanding is that it should. The cable included is small, I wish it was bigger. That is why this review got a 4 out of 5. I hate to see my devices just like hanging like in the picture because the cable is small. Of course, I can just place my PS5 horizontal, but that is something I do not want to do. Crucial didn't have to be so cheap on the cable size. TLDR: This device comes with an adapter to make the cable USB C to USB A. Take this device off, and connect it to the front of your PS5.

Purchased to use for gaming on my laptop. Download the games straight from Steam to the SSD. Works great so far, no issues and games boot up fairly quick. USB-C cord it comes with is a little short and dangles if I use my elevated laptop cooler. Other than that its great.

This thing is great, I had intentions to use for laptop or pc and did. But I have ended up using it for my PS4 and now PS5 as game storage. It works for holding PS4 games it’s not fast enough or something else perhaps. But this thing is excellent as it fast and just fine for my pc, and the additional versatility for PS4 and PS5 is just wonderful. It also comes with usb c to usb a adapter if a usb c port isn’t available.

Very small and portable drive with really fast speed downloading to and from. Been using it to back up photo files from my laptop and it's been very reliable. I love how fast it backs up tons of gigs, so much time saved!

This device comes in a very compact and easy to use size. It was pretty much a plug and use storage device for all my backup pictures from my laptop.

I am using this as a 2nd backup drive for Time Machine. Works like a charm. Nice size. Also was happy for the USB C to USB A adapter - needed that for some other things.

Bought this drive for my wife. I am personally a SanDisk guy but wanted to give Crucial a shot. Transfering my son’s soccer game shot in 4K around 25GBs storage took about 30 seconds from my SanDisk to this drive. Going from the memory card to this drive takes about 2 minutes, and going straight from my 2021 IMAC about 1 minute. People fail to realize that transfer speeds depends on the capability of your other devices. I am coming real close to buying the 4TB version of this drive because i am highly impressed. The price is is almost half of SanDisk. SanDisk better come down off those prices because Crucial is offering a similar product at a cheaper price, and the quality is about the same. FYI, this drive is already formatted for MAC users.

Compact and fast! Easy to transport and set up with ample storage. Not exactly like having a larger internal drive but close enough for most applications

I got this to store movies on. I played them back on my laptop when I travel. The copying goes quickly, and playback proceeds with no problems. This is a very good buy.

Works great fast enough for Xbox one x games have about 40hrs use on it now no issues

Needed an ssd for boulders gate and this was a quick fix. It is faster than my HDD.
