The battery life off of one full charge is excellent. I like that its fast more accurate and connects to the wireless network independently without the need of other devices like a typical tag.

Year-Old Software Issues Still Not Fixed!

The app is buggy to a degree where the product literally cannot update. I promise you, this is not a user error on my part. The product needs a firmware update once you connect it. There's many people i found on Reddit who've also had this issue with the tracker connecting to a cellular network. I have 5g with 4 bars of cellular coverage and it still wont update. The app also has issues where once you turn your bluetooth off, the app keeps thinking you have to "approve" bluetooth capability, just like you did when initially downloading and logging into the app after download. I went to youtube to see if people found a resolution for the cellular problem, only to find that there's just a small handful of 1 year+ old videos, of amateur level YouTube tech accounts reviewing this product (paid for by Cube). At this point I would've been better off buying a used iPhone and signing up for a very basic level data plan, and then just sticking the iPhone somewhere in my car where a thief couldn't find it. That literally would've been cheaper and easier than getting this product to work.

I must say that this is the first product that I was looking forward to trying out because I was skeptical on it's capabilities. At first unboxing, it is a simple square looking device that looks tough and has a single button and charge port. I wish the charge port was USB-C instead of Micro USB, to keep up with today's technology. The size is a tad bigger in length than a soda can and it weighs heavy with it's strong heavy duty magnets. I charged it for what seemed like 10 hours before it was ready for first use. I had to reach out to customer service for assistance with the membership on a Saturday and their hours are only Monday-Friday it seems. So, there was a delay in hearing back from them until Monday but after that, they assisted fairly quickly. As for the app itself, it does a great job at seamless setup and applying settings. I do get a weird bug where the app vibrates for some reason when looking at the maps. The great things you can do within the app are setup notifications to receive notifications via app or email, you can track location history with coordinates and even track location accuracy. I like that you can even download a date's location report. The ability to change your reporting intervals to save battery life is great too (1min to 10mins). Setting up virtual fences are also a huge plus and it works pretty good overall. Given that the accuracy isn't 100%, it still does a good job of triangulating based off GPS, wireless 4g cell tower triangulation, WiFi signals, and even bluetooth to try and get very darn close. This is going into my sport car for a piece of mind. The hard part is trying to find a good concealed spot where the signal doesn't get lost. Easy setup and good notification methods is a plus for me. For the price, it would have been nice to have a hard wired option included as well that may allow for even more customization of tracking and notifications but you can't go wrong with this device currently.

Shady Product / Horrible Customer Service

Everything with this service has been a huge disappointment. After being a customer for a long time, I had complaints about how the cube would stop tracking its location and showing me its location if my phone disabled tracking my phone 24/7. That feels intrusive, that they force you to show your constant location of your phone to be able to see the current location of the GPS. There is not even an option to bypass that. And how I attempted to make payment but they failed to process it. And it did not show me any notice until support pushed it on their side to the app that there was not a subscription active. Supports response was horrible and disrespectful. Support was already aware that they try to take payment from an old card instead of my second card that I put on the profile. That is the good card now. Instead of fixing that problem, they did it again the next month and had no apologies and no cares. Basically their response was ok bye then. Pictures posted below of their lack of care.

Long lasting Batt and Powerful magnet to place it

Times have changed, and was unlikely before, now has become very common. Cars are being stolen in higher rates so devices like trackers are extremely useful and because of the long lasting battery, you can carry it with you while you are hiking, or far from civilization. It is not too bulky or heavy so you can carry it in your backpack. With the Cube tracker you can feel confident that you will be located in case of an emergency or if you get lost. I hid it in my car inside the spare tire compartment area, and because of the powerful magnet it has, it gripped strongly to the chassis. I was using it for almost a week and the Battery is still reporting 100% charge. And right now the temperature has been around 120F, and the cube tracker delivers even under those condition. The specs state that the batt will last a year. So you don’t need to worry about recharging the device for a long time. The app will tell you how much charge it has. I like the fact that you can place it anywhere. The material is solid and feels high quality. The GPS coverage is worldwide. It took around 9 hours to fully charge. It doesn’t come with the power adapter, but it includes the USB to Micro USB cable and the instruction manual. The setup is pretty simple, just follow the instructions. First you install the Cube Tracker app. This can be found either on the Apple Store or Google Play. Create an account. It is going to ask you the payment method, then, you have to give it permission locations all the time, press and hold the button until it beeps to pair it via Bluetooth with the app, and finally add the serial number of the device and that is all, the device is ready to start providing the location. There is also another cool feature to locate the device. The app has a “ring” button, if you click on it, the Cube will make a sound so you can find it. But it needs to be within the Bluetooth range of your phone. This is a Bluetooth feature of the device. The app is a great tool, well designed and very intuitive to configure. But I also have to say that the support is very quick and responsive. What I liked the most is that you can download the location history and it will tell you not only the location, but also speed tracking. You will be able to see where the device has been as well as the speed. During movement, you can activate live tracking to receive an update every 2-5 seconds. Honestly, it’s kind of tricky to find this “Live” Icon on the app, I had to ask support, but once you enable this feature, you will have an update every 1-5 seconds. If no movement is detected the device will be in rest mode to save Battery power. The Customer support can be reached through the app. On the top right corner, there are 3 lines that take you to "My Account", where you can find the option to Contact support. The app offers some other options, like create a virtual fence, so if the vehicle left the boundaries you have set up, the app will alert you. It also has an SOS button so you can send a prerecorded text message along with your location to your family and friends. And if for some reason you don’t have your phone, you can access the device through Cube Tracker web site, and get the location of the device as well. Unfortunately, because of the situation we are living in nowadays, the cube tracker is a tool that is needed in case of emergencies.

    EXCELLENT GPS TRACKER

The GPS is very accurate and the app provides simple but useful information. DESIGN The shape of the GPS device is pretty simple, rectangular shape with a set of magnets on the underside and a USB charge port and initiation button. I charged the device for about 7hours and it has been in use for the last 7 days and the battery is still at 95%. The magnets allow it to attach to any metal surface on the interior of the trunk. TRACKING/APP The tracking is done in intervals which provides accurate location and extends the battery life. It also has the option for live tracking but that drains the battery significantly. The app provides a location history that you can check based on specific dates. It also lets you set a geo-fence which will send you an alert if the GPS tracker leaves that area. It is very useful for vehicles nowadays with the rise in auto thefts. OVERALL I definitely recommend the GPS tracker if you want the added bonus of peace of mind for vehicle recovery. It is easy to install and easy to access the info on the app.

The Cube GPS PRO tracker does just what it is designed for; it tracks vehicles and items. I used it to track my Vehicle. The strong magnetic side makes it convenient to stick anywhere you can, but I chose to place it inside my Vehicle. It is however, designed to be tough and water resistant (IP67). Since the upper temperature rating is 131 degrees, I will not be placing it under my car or anywhere outside of it, given I live in a desert environment. The reflection of the heat from the asphalt can be higher than that, and I don't want to risk ineffectiveness of the device. The app was a bit finicky at first, but once I set up the Cube Tracker, I was able to see the exact location and make the Cube ring. The app requested phone location permisision, which allowed me to see where I was in relation to the Cube, and with a click, took me to Google maps to allow me to know how to get from where I was, to the Cube. That was handy when I parked my car while in a big event with thousands of cars on the lot. I found my car fast. After driving a while, I saw the history of my trip along with periodic speed indications. I think it was about every 30 seconds that it updated my speed. I also saw the exact addresses of the places my vehicle (Cube) stopped at, and the exact time. The Cube is advertised to last up to a year on a single charge, and I'm sure that is strongly based on how much use it gets. While I can't comment on that (for another year) I do like that I can see the battery level from the app. You can also disable the Cube if you want the tracking to stop, as well as share its location with anyone you want. The Cube uses GPS, but also cellular data and bluetooth, making it even more accurate. For some reason, it detected movement in my parked vehicle, and I'm assuming it was due to some wind. That tells me it is very sensitive to movement. While the device is great and of good value, the tracking plan is where they make their money. The plan I tested, was the $20/month or $16.50/month if you pay the year up front. Not saying this is not a good value, just saying you should weigh if tracking is a need you really have. Overall, the Cube GPS PRO tracker does a great job, though the app interface could see improvements because while it can provide a report of historical movement, I'd like to see a playback of the historical movement where the icon moves with the map.

I absolutely love this tracker! The set up was very simple, and once set up its ready to go. Ive already been using it. It couldnt be more accurate. The magnetic feature is my favorite things about it. The ability to hide the tracker anywhere with no one being able to find it is what i was looking for. It is 19.99 a month but if you ask me its worth it, especially if you’re using it for something good like a car etc… my car got stolen and i had an airtag and that was worthless. With this tracker, i feel at peace if it were to ever happen again. 5 stars in all honesty.

Bought this 2 days ago because one of our cars was stolen. Looking for something besides air tags that show up on cell phones aiding a thief looking for a tracker. I did some research and Cube fit the bill. It works with an app to monitor and adjust settings after you placed it somewhere around your vehicle. Magnets are super strong to keep the Cube attached and it is secured in place where I put it still after running around in the vehicle for 2 days. It has taken the worry off me and I am confident in its performance so far that it will serve its purpose fully.

The GPS accuracy is spot on, and I love that I can check my car’s location in real time through the app. The setup was incredibly simple, and the app interface is user-friendly and intuitive. One of the best features is the geofencing alerts—I get instant notifications if my car moves outside a set area, which adds an extra layer of security. The battery life is impressive, and I appreciate that it offers multiple tracking updates depending on my needs. Overall, the Cube Car Tracker is a reliable, well-designed, and effective tracking solution. Highly recommended for anyone looking to keep an eye on their vehicle!

This Cube GPS Pro Tracker is a great tracking tool-- just make sure you understand how it works so you can make the most of it. I've experienced a wide range of trackers. Some compact, some bulkily tethered to car systems. I honestly think, this is the best form factor for accurate tracking, portability and durability. HARDWARE SETUP From the box, it is pretty simple to set up with some quirks. The cube itself is sturdy encased in durable steel. It is small enough for a purse and solid enough to be placed in a vehicle. It is easy to charge given its USB port and since it has a strong magnet, I can slap it easily onto a surface while charging. I placed it in a panel of a vehicle's rear and the magnet held it in there like it's a permanent fixture. It is stable and doesn't move or rattle even if the vehicle is moving on rough roads. APP and SUBSCRIPTION The tracker is nicely paired with the app but is not functional without a subscription. Makes sense because it needs to work over the air. Also, the app doesn't fully work without full permission for location. I usually would only allow permission when I use the app, because there is no use in allowing full access for my use. But the app won't function with app use access so I had to give it full location access. When I signed up for subscription, I had to reset it twice. The moment I subscribed, the tracker was partially working and I had an in app notification that there is a problem with the subscription. I reset it and it was tracking, but it would only intermittently track. Then I noticed that I had the in app notification again. So I reset it again and I noticed that the subscription is finally working and the notification is gone. Other features started to come up like the live tracking and location history. Now I know it's game on. TRACKING AND FUNCTIONALITIES I tracked my partner's vehicle for a week. I set up geo fencing so I get notified when she is near home or when she leaves. The app comes with its own map that has good details that shows my locations and the trackers location. however, there is a little bit of an issue with the location icon where the tracker is, the color is dark gray situated over a black background. It makes it a little hard to pinpoint the exact point and it takes sometime to get used to the system. When I click the device icon location, it brings me to Google maps and it shows me how far I am in relation to the tracker. Pretty convenient if I need to head to the tracker. I see when she went shopping or when the kids are picked up or when they are at soccer practice. Some points come a little off and it sometimes registers the next street. Though I have placed it on high accuracy, the radius is still pretty wide-- perhaps a good 100 feet. So in a typical plaza, I would say it's zoned in the whole parking lot. It took me 2 minutes to drive around to find where the car really is. Tracking dynamics are important to understand. I can set it to refresh at certain intervals which is very critical to locating the tracker. One day, I was tracking the car so I know how fast I should start heating up the food for dinner in time that they arrive. I know I can simply ask them for ETA, but this time, I want to surprise the family for a nice warm dinner by the time they get home. I usually set the tracking interval to every ten minutes, so I switched it to every one minute for precision. However, it took at least 8 minutes before I learned of their exact position, because it was still on the running ten minute cycle, plus the minute interval refresh. I missed the exact surprise time because they weren't that far. But I learned a lot on how to use it. So if I set the time to one minute refresh intervals, coming from a ten minute interval, it will only start tracking at one minute intervals after it has picked up the settings change from the most recent ten minute interval. This is important to understand should I need to, for example, chase the car if it is stolen. Because carjackers will have a good headstart before I find out where they are. Also, one minute intervals are huge if I am right behind them, even on live tracking which functions the same on refreshes. They can turn a corner and I can be running on a different direction before I get to pinpoint the direction of the carjacker. Now if I am pinpointing them to a stop, they have to be stalled for the whole interval PLUS the search time within the 100feet radius. Like I said, the tracker is there. I just had to really understand how this works so I know how to use it at more urgent situations. At a week of use, less my app setup glitches, I was at 96% battery even with frequent live tracking on for a number of 20 minutes at a time. It is pretty good because I don't even need to make sure it is plugged to have reliable continuous tracking. This Cube GPS Pro Tracker is such a great step up from other devices. I am going on an international trip and I can easily slip this into a luggage and have peace of mind knowing where my stuff are. It's limitations are not such a hindrance and if you can live with them, this is a very reliable and dependable tool to keep your valuables safe.

Great GPS Tracker - Top Notch App - No Subsciption

First Impressions - I opened the box and checked out the device. The GPS Unit and battery are sealed in part of the enclosure and the magnet assembly is attached to that with four standard screws and locking nuts. I plugged in the USB-C Cable and charged the unit to full. After connecting to my phone to activate - I put it on my own car to test it out and "geofenced" my surrounding block to force notification after driving outside my immediate area. I used the magnet to attach it to my can for testing and then moved it to another vehicle. I tested the sampling interval at 1 minute and 5 minutes. Both were effective and mapping history as well as real time views worked flawlessly. This device will be hard mounted in a hidden spot on a toy hauler trailer I keep in storage that I occasionally loan out. I had no issue with it working when mounted behind a corner panel inside the trailer. The App - I installed the Tracking App on an iPhone. I was able to immediately pair and active the device with a month to month subscription. The app is simple to use and allows you to set up geofencing and notifications. Tracking reports can also be emailed to the subscriber. The application itself has a quite a polished feel between map views and settings. I was able to navigate it intuitively and setup up boundaries and alerts. The Web Interface - It's as good as the app ! I tested map review, Realtime views etc. I wanted to make sure this was not limited to always having the app handy. It can be used via the web interface however setup and settings are easier to manage in the application. Support Contact - I opened a question for support on whether or not it was "ok" to remove the magnetic base and hard mount the tracking unit with the four mounting holes. They replied in less than two hours to answer that question. Notably the answer was "yes". No obligation subscription: I originally activated with month to month - You can choose the device and cancel it directly in the app. Once a month is paid it will stay active for the that month until the service end date. No hassle cancellation - it took ten seconds to cancel and then about a minute active the annual subscription at a discount. Overall - A+ on this ! I really love devices that make it easy to start and stop service. What I love - You can set the sampling interval - Default is 1 Minute Insanely strong Magnet and can be hard mounted Room for improvement - Would be nice if the hardwire option cable was included with the Pro Model.

I wish this had been around when my kids were teenagers and driving my car! This will monitor location and speed. You can download reports to save. You can create a "fence" to know when your tracker leaves or enters a location. You can set it for your child's school if they drive there, or a friend's house (or even a place you DON'T want them to go). I did have a trouble getting it to show me speed while I was driving. I contacted support and was informed that with android, the app does not currently show speed while on Bluetooth (They are working on updating that). When I turned my Bluetooth off while driving, it displayed the speed. If someone else was driving the car, I am assuming it would show the speed as soon as the car left the range of my Bluetooth. I recently left my car at a box store while I rented a truck for the day. It was nice to be able to check that my car was still in the parking lot while I used the rental. This would be a great tool if you park in a high crime area or otherwise worry about car theft. The only issue I have had is placement. The instructions say to keep it as open to satellite signals as possible so trunks and other enclosed areas are out. It can't go in areas of high heat so engine compartments are no good. I do not want to try it in a wheel well as it might jar loose. The magnet does seem very strong, but I am not risking it. So far, I just have it on the passenger floor of my car. I will keep trying to find a better location that still allows it to get a good signal. Overall, this is a very good tracking device. They say you can use it in luggage or other items but it is pretty bulky. I have a small tile type tracker I use for luggage that is small and doesn't add to the weight of my luggage. I find this best for vehicles. It would be very useful for businesses when you have employees driving your vehicles and want to monitor speed and locations during the workday.

I am trying to find a more functional tracking device for my vehicle because it was stolen from my driveway a few months ago. When this happens you learn a lot about what works and what does not. Thieves will immediately remove the factory gps locator in your car, this takes only a few minutes to do and you can expect it to be done within the first 15 - 30 minutes. However, rest assured, if an app exists for your vehicle then there are multiple factory trackers installed aside from the main gps (air pressure, gas level, oil health, etc.) and depending on the maker you may or may not be able to work with them to locate your vehicle using these alternative trackers. Mine is Ford and there were alternative tracking methods on my car and they said they could help, but they turned out to be too slow to react or respond to help. For this reason I purchased the Cube Pro GPS. This will be my 3rd asset tracking device to try out. I have three current subscriptions for tracking devices that I am comparing. Trak4, Apple AirTag, and now, Cube. Nothing compares to the AirTag’s app experience. Hands down it is the best user friendly interface I’ve used. And, no monthly subscription. The battery lasts a couple of years and tracking is seamless. The problem is that anyone with an iPhone will know they’re being tracked. Then there is Trak4, which I picked up from Amazon. This is the most relative to Cube. They both have very limited information online about how to maximize their usage. Troubleshooting is limited. They both appear to use Google maps as their location platform. The history viewing is easy to access. Geofencing is a bit easier on the Trak4. With Cube, I had trouble creating a fence for my work address, as an incorrect address comes up in Cube, so I still haven’t figured that out. It did record a geo fence for that incorrect 22907 Fossil Peak San Antonio TX 78261 by accident and I can’t seem to easily delete it. These are simple issues that shouldn’t exist. The Cube cost me $19.99/ mo. and the Trak4 costs $21.99/ mo., the Trak4 was much cheaper to purchase than the Cube, even with the Black Friday discount. I haven’t had to contact support on the Cube, but I have on Trak4, by email, and they were thorough and promptly responsive. Between the Cube and Trak4, the Cube has a bit more easy to use interface in comparison to the Trak4, there are more customizations, as well, and to upgrade your device reporting doesn’t cost anything other than more battery, so you’d need to charge it more often. Whereas the Trak4 prices their reporting activity in the monthly subscriptions. I found the batteries to last about the same and definitely not for a year as proclaimed. I do have my tracking on the highest reporting option on both and my battery seems to last a couple of months on Trak4 and I haven’t had the Cube two months yet, but it appears to deenergize at about the same pace. I don’t understand the benefit of the ring feature on the Cube, but it’s there and not on Trak4, and of course, Apple AirTag also has a locating beacon. The Cube is black and has magnets to attach to your asset, which I like best, although it is the largest of all three, so finding a good hiding place is challenging. There isn’t a lot of information to read on how to maximize the use of the Cube or Trak4 online from what I can tell so far, but I haven’t done extensive research either. I still need more time to assess the Cube, to say if I prefer it to the Trak4, for now theyre equals, to me. The AirTag is a no go because obviously I don’t want the thieves that stole my vehicle to know they’re being tracked, and chances are one of them will own an iPhone. In a perfect world I would love to see the Cube smaller without the ring feature (to stave accidental awareness to the wrong people!), an easier to use interface with tutorials of how to best utilize the device. Lowering the monthly to $9.99, would be more digestible, especially considering the high initial investment.

As much as I wish car theft wasn't something I need to worry about, fact is that's just not the case. It doesn't help that I own one of the most stolen vehicles over the past few years. So when I take it out, I do everything I can to protect it. That's why I wanted to get this Cube GPS Pro tracker, to help give me some peace of mind and not worry so much every time I leave it in a parking lot. Setting it up is pretty simple, although it could go a little smoother than it did. First you'll need the Cube app, which you need regardless to be able to use the Cube. Setup an account, scan the Cube for the serial number, if you can get the app scanner to focus. It wouldn't for me so I had to manually input the number. Finally it's just a matter of setting up your subscription, which we'll get to in a minute. At this point I thought it was good to go, but after several minutes the app sent a notification that the Cube needed to be added to the service first once the subscription processed. Once fully activated, all you have to do is find a good spot to hide it. Being wireless, that's pretty easy to do. A lot of GPS trackers have to get wired somewhere under the dash, which makes them easier to find for thieves. Not so with this Cube, plus the magnets are extremely strong. Once put in place, it's not moving at all, so there's no worry about it being bounced off on a bumpy road. The downside to this is that it does need to be periodically re-charged, and it can take some force to get the magnets to separate from metal. It also means you have to hide it in a place that's at least somewhat convenient to get to when needed. Speaking of it needing to be re-charged, the battery seems to last pretty long so far. I have my Cube set to report every 1 minute, which is the most frequent option but also means it's the least energy efficient. Still, it's been over a week now and my Cube is still at around 95% charged according to the app. Just in case you hide it so well, that you forget where you put it, the app lets you 'ring' the Cube so that it plays a sound making it easier to locate. Even better though, to help make sure the thieves don't locate it, the app also gives you an option to hide the Cube's name from being seen in another devices bluetooth settings, just in case the thief might check for that. Now for what matters the most, which is how well it functions. It does what it's made for and works great, but it's not perfect. Check in to the app and you'll see a map with where it's located and an address. Looking at my app right now as I type this review, with my car parked in my garage, the address displayed is my next door neighbors house. I'm ok with that though since I live in a neighborhood where the houses are pretty close to each other, with the address displayed being less than 20 feet away from where my car is. A really great feature that I love though is the virtual fence. This lets you setup a perimeter around spots such as your house that will then send you a notification when the Cube exits out of the fence, and even when it re-enters. The fence is a set circled area but can be made as small as 200 meters, or as big as 5000 meters, although I don't know why you'd want to set it that big. I do wish I could go a little smaller than 200 meters though, but it does the job. Best part is you can add several fenced areas and turn them on and off as needed. This way you can set one up for your home, your work, or places you frequent like the gym, which seems to be a popular spot for car theft. While all that is great, what you have to be aware of is the reporting interval. Even at 1 minute, a car can get a good distance away before the Cube reports. So if it hit that reporting interval just before your car left the virtual fence, your car could have driven almost an entire minute outside of the fence before you even get the notification. The app does give you an option for live tracking your Cube, but this isn't perfect either. The live tracking doesn't start immediately after tapping the "LIVE" button. It seems that in order to tell the Cube to start continuously reporting, it has to first report in itself to get that message. So depending on the set interval, you could be waiting almost a minute or longer before the live reporting actually starts. It's also not consistent. I tried the Live tracking a couple times and so far, with each attempt, the Cube would just stop reporting for several minutes at a time. One time I live tracked it for 10 minutes and just 2 minutes in, it stopped reporting for about 7 minutes. Needless to say, the car went a fairly good distance before getting picked up again. That brings me back to my pain point, the subscription. I understand and can accept the fact that this is a case where a subscription is justified. The Cube, unlike some other trackers, isn't dependent upon other devices or people's phones being nearby. It's self-contained and has to send and receive data wirelessly, which costs money. I do think the subscription price is a bit high though, even if you do pay for an entire year in full to get the annual discount. Given the limited reporting intervals and periods of lost communication, it's just not worth the price in my opinion. Maybe if it was more consistently reliable and allowed for reporting intervals closer to "live", then maybe I could justify the higher price. Another big annoyance, especially given the fact that you're paying a good amount of money for this service, is the pop-up ads in the app for Cube products. But that's not even the worst part. While my car isn't being driven, I put the Cube into my wife's car. At one point I got the notification that she had driven out of the virtual fence, so I tap the notification to open the app and track her car, at which point an ad immediately pops up, an ad that doesn't have an option to close! It literally forces you to click on it which then opens up and takes you to a separate browser window! I'm sorry, but if my car was actually stolen, I want to be able to start tracking it immediately, not be directed to a site to buy something. Finally, let's be real, a GPS tracker is just the last line of defense against theft. Getting a notification means that the thieves were already successful in driving off with your car, and the best you can hope for is a recovery with minimal damage. While I believe this Cube tracker will offer one of your best chances at recovery, I'm not sure that I will personally continue to pay the high subscription price for it. Of course it also depends on how you feel about your car. Some people may not even want their car back after being taken on a joyride or being picked apart. If, however, you are someone that has a car that is irreplaceable to you, and recovering it is of the highest priority, then in that case I would recommend this Cube tracker, even with the high subscription cost. Overall, I'm still going to give this Cube GPS 4 stars. I do wish I could do half stars, but in this case I'll round up since the negatives aren't enough for me to justify dropping down another entire star.
