reasonable home computer power backup

I wanted a power backup to avoid nuisance power resets for an office setup of a computer, monitor, modem, voip telephone, and small computer speakers. As i had no method to measure actual power, i added up the claimed power ratings on each device with a resulting range of (600,870) watts. (energy = power * time) Using the CyberPower LE850G energy storage spec meant it should last for 3-4 minutes at this power level so i decided to take a chance on it given the price was good relative to some other products and had the right number of battery backup outlets for me. (note that not all the outlets are battery backups, this was the least expensive model that had enough for me.)
After adding the ups to my system, it turns out that the software can report actual power use and my actual power use if about 10% of what i thought it was going to be based on adding the individual component power ratings as mentioned above. The end result is that the claimed battery backup time is about 30 to 40 minutes, which is enough for me. (note that i'm not trying to keep my system powered for hours as i'm assuming i'll always be around to take action as needed. however, the software can be set to turn off the computer when the battery is drained to a certain level, so it is reassuring that the computer will shut down gracefully even if i'm not there.)
all in all, very pleased with resulting backup time suitable for my low-end home office needs without having to spend thousands of dollars for a larger ups. and, it was a good laugh to have done the math but reality meant a much better end result. your mileage (and math) may vary.

I'm really enjoying my new Samsung 7" tablet. It's size is perfect for a carry along. I'll use it a lot when I don't need my laptop or need just a little more than my cell phone. The screen is very sharp and there are lots of apps you can use with it. Streaming movies is a breeze and makes watching a pleasant experience. I haven't explored all it's capabilities yet but I'm looking forward to seeing the many things it can do.

I have this mounted on the wall in a network closet for a school. It should provide 90 minutes or more of uptime for the one switch attached and the POE injectors for the WiFi network in the building.

I use it to power my computer and peripherals. During rainy season in South Florida, the power goes off and on during heavy storms plus many lightning strikes. I don't feel the interruptions any more, yet before I'd end up losing my work [and worse!]. Its a great product at a very reasonable price.

I had an older model Power Supply from another company and it was failing periodically after 3 years roughly of use. When it failed, it had a very sharp high pitched alarm. I would have to power everything connected down, power it down, to stop the alarm. This one has a mute button which you can turn off the alarm till you have time to shut it down. It also connects via USB to your PC so you can monitor many stats about it. I've had it several months so far and it has been working like a charm. Alarm has not sounded once. I love it.

CyberPower UPS Sine Wave

Over the years I have been dedicated to Best Power UPS (now Eaton), then APC when Best was bought out, and because of a problem with an APC unit, I switched this time to 2 CyberPower units. I have read that they use a "Simulated Sine Wave" on battery so I put a scope on the output to get a look at it. It turns out it is a modified square wave with 1/3 cycle high, 1/3 cycle at zero, and 1/3 cycle low. Well, maybe their higher end units are more "simulated" than that! At any rate, the UPS seems fine and works as expected. The PowerPanel Personal edition software is very limited. Apparently, though, I could have downloaded the PowerPanel Business edition instead for free. For the price, I rate this product as excellent.

You can plug in 12 electronics into this machine. Its not much bulkier or larger than any of the other battery back up systems. Would definitely recommend. It works great.

The best part I liked was it has plenty of outlets for both backup battery side and power surge side. And this takes up no more space than the last one i had.

I am glad that I have chosen this UPS for my needs. I use it to power my computer and all accessories. its extremely reliable. Quite often, the power goes off and on, but I don't feel any interruption, while before having this UPS I would lose the work I am doing when the power interruption occurs. Its a great product at a very reasonable price. I recommend it for any person who needs a reliable UPS.

I have always purchased APC products but decided to see what else was available. After doing considerable research everything I read about CyberPower was very positive and equal to APC products. Now that I am retired I look for good products that offer better value. This CyberPower unit matched my requirements and cost less than the comparable APC unit. As of today I am very satisfied with this purchase and highly recommend people look at CyberPower.

Good price for a UPS with Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) which is a feature that if voltage drops below about 110 (but at least 90) the unit will boost the voltage back up without switching to battery. This is most useful in older buildings or where power is iffy. If power goes out completely or 1 branch of 3-phase is lost, unit is supposed to switch to battery. We'll see how it's doing in a year or two.

CyberPower Is The Way To Go

I have been a strict APC user for years but their customer service has been increasingly difficult to work with. They also do not stand behind their warranty like they did 15 years ago. CyberPower has been great to work with and the quality if their products have improved much over the years. I now purchase their products exclusively.

I almost spent $60.00 more then I needed to. I was in between buying this unit or another unit that was $60.00 more. I did not want to under purchase. Confused. I decided to contact the Best Buy online support tech. I thought for sure he was going to say "go ahead and purchase the more expensive unit!" Instead, he ended up spending about twenty minutes asking what equipment I was planning to protect. After reviewing the answers, he actually recommended the less expensive unit. He even called the manufacturers to make sure it had the software to schedule automatic shutdowns, which it does. Easy to set up and use. If it stops functioning, I can always use it as a boat anchor. Built like a brick**** house. I am impressed. And no, I do not work for Best Buy.

Bought two of these as I'm installing two individual PC's and need to have them both be able to automatically shut down with the enclosed software. I have used these before and not had any issues with them and don't expect any with these. Just make sure you plug the devices you want to have battery back-up into the appropriate receptacles and those just needing surge protection into the ones marked for that.

Great price, works great. Our power “blinks” every now and then, and we have the occasional short term power outage, usually not more than a a few minutes. However, we no longer have to worry about having saved our current working files on the computer, since this keeps the tower and monitor, etc. on at all times. Hasn’t been tested for long-term, hence the 4 stars instead of 5.

I bought this because the power kept going out frequently but only for a few minutes at a time and then I would have to reset all my entertainment center items and resync my bose system. This backup is a great size that i was able to hide from view and plug in everything that I needed with no worry about resetting now after a quick power glitch.

Works perfectly. Makes a great replacement. I had the same unit before, I had a tremendous power surge a few weeks ago this unit took the surge like a champ. It protected $142,000.00 worth of electronics. Now that it took that surge I am replacing it with a new one. Couldn't be happier $98.00 APC beats replacing $142,000.00 in electronics any day.

I am glad I purchased this. I have att fiber and a surveillance system that runs 24/7 so 100% uptime is crucial to me. I have had a couple of outages and both times all of my connected devices continued running without a hitch. Because I have fiber I can still have internet during a power outage.
