Sadly this is a good camera

Sadly, this seems to be one of the better security cameras I've found. I say sadly because a basic cell phone camera takes better pics and video than this, even in low light conditions. 720p here just means that you get more of the grainy pixels than from an 480p camera. I uploaded full res pics to show this, but it seems you can only see a downscaled version that hides a lot of grain. Also, the unit switched to infrared mode if a cloud passes over the house, so expect black and white video if you don't leave all the lights on. The software needs a lot of work, too. The "nice" setup method can work, but test thoroughly as it's easy to miss the correct sequence and have it not work or lose all settings. For actual recording, it only records to the SD card in the camera itself if you use the regular setup tools, so if the camera is stolen you get no video. The advanced setup looks like it could record to a server but only with a very manual config.
For motion detect, it false triggers all day long, but then misses a lot of recording when there's real action. There are no settings for time to record before or after a trigger event. Live feedback for tuning sensitivity would be quite helpful. For reviewing the video, just take the SD card out of the camera. The file access via IP is terrible if it works at all. The remote access does work well. I will probably buy a third one soon if I don't find a better option. This market still seems untapped by a good solution. I much prefer this to not having one.

Good HD quality daytime picture

This is one of four different cameras I purchased to try out for basic home monitoring. Picture quality during daytime is very good when sufficient lighting. Night vision is only adequate. The camera can be set to record to a memory card when there is movement. Camera is slow to respond when there is initial movement so you will end up missing the first few seconds. Setup was slow and at times frustrating. For being a wireless camera, the camera cannot be installed without first having to connect to router via cable. Once setup is complete, the camera can be used wirelessly. I use the DlinkLite app on both an Iphone 5S and an Amazone Fire HD. The Amazon app is far more user friendly, as reviewing video and deleting from the installed memory card is much easier. The iphone app is very cumbersome, especially when trying to delete video. Overall, am satisfied with the purchase. Like the smaller size of the DCS-2132L and HD quality, although apps and setup are still not great. Also tested the DLink DCS-5020L and DCS-5222L, which I ended up returning.

This is a decent camera with some pretty nice features for the price. The picture quality is good and the ability to have local storage on the camera with a MicroSD card is a nice option. The night vision is actually quite good as well. I found that the long power cable comes in handy and puts less restrictions on mounting options. Remote viewing via the myDlink website works very well with minimal setup required. The motion detection is great, I just wish I could record longer video clips with it.
It's a bit cumbersome to get the data off of the SD card for review. I've found it a lot faster to actually remove the card and access it directly using a card reader than to use the camera's web interface. Another issue for some might be the loud CLICK noise it makes when switching to and from night vision mode.
In all it is a great little camera that I have been using 24/7 for the past several weeks. It's been solid and I haven't had to mess with it since the initial install.

Install the program and make sure to download the right one for the specific camera. Once installed, its a breeze to add a camera. Picture is great. It is enough to see the surroundings. It has a micrphone and speakers which is good enough to announce and listen to the area monitored. The camera works well in the dark and transmits excellent pictures. Just remember that it is stationary and needs to be posted and adjusted manually. All in all a great camera.

Had to have a lot of assistance from D-Link customer support to set up this camera. It needed a firmware update. Also, here is nothing on the packaging that indicates what size SD card it uses? I bought one that was too large which prevented set up also. Once I over come these obstacles the camera worked fine.; Nice clear picture. Easy to use phone app.

This is my fifth D'Link DCS 2132L and I've been nothing but happy with them. To be fair, I put a lot of work into getting consistent video out of them. There's been a lot of trial and error and a lot of searching through internet forums for tips. I have a working knowledge of networking, so that definitely helped. But the bottom line is that I can monitor my home while I'm away, record video easily, and connect well with both wifi and Ethernet. The images are good, the audio is acceptable, and the reliability has been solid.

We bought this camera to find out what our dogs were up to when we were not home. Great quality, sound is good and it works well at night. I wish the 2 way sound was a little clearer but it works well over WiFi. Will definitely let my friends know how much we love it

Easy to use. You can record in a mini sd car. Don't need record system, great for home use or if you need only one camera.

I bought this based on previous experiences with Netgear products and seeing some generally positive review about the camera. Also the HD feature was a selling point. The product itself was well constructed and worked well with other applications but ultimately didn't live up to expectations about low light and no light situations. Ultimately ended up returning and still looking for something that ticks the final 2 check boxes on my requirements. Might be great for casual users and areas where lighting is always optimal. Just didn't work out for my particular needs.

I bought this to keep an eye on workers that were doing a renovation job in the back of the house. It was easy to set up (physically and to my wireless network). I like that I was able to check up on things via my work computer or smart phone. It has the capability to record on to a SD card (not included), but I didn't use it so I can't comment on how long it was able to record, etc. Overall, I'm happy with it.

It works. However, you have to sign out, then sign back in a lot to see through the camera through the app. It freezes up a lot. Also, it's supposed to be high definition but never goes above 480 resolution. The microphone doesn't work very well either. It's intermittent mostly not working. The set up is very difficult as well. I had to call tech-support, and absolutely could not have started the app without their help. It wouldn't work the normal way in the set up, so they had to send me in through the back door so to speak.

This product works pretty well once you get it set up. Setting it up might take a little effort and you might need to call customer support to get help with setting up wi-fi. But the quality of the picture is great. Unfortunately it seems to only record in short segments. This is why only 4 stars.

I bought this camera so i can watch my cats while i am on vacation.
It was easy to set up and the picture on my I-phone was clear. The microphone works well too. The only problem is that the firmware had needed 2 updates in 2 months and it needs to be connected to the modem with a wire which is a pain.

I use this camera to keep an eye on the entryway. Despite reviews stating it was difficult to set up, I found the instructions to be helpful and had it working in a matter of minutes. It can be unplugged and moved to another location without losing connectivity to the wifi.

Works well. Not as detailed picture as I'd hoped. However works great to deter teenagers from having friends over or parties while I'm away. Not too hard to hook up. Runs off your wifi. No monthly contracts

It was difficult to get set up at first but once it was set it was good to go and having the recordings on the micro SD card makes it easier to retrieve data collected vs having to thumb through a cloud server. Much more secure too.

Very handy to be able to keep an eye on things when away from home. Especially since we can do it from the phone app.. We haven't been able to get the motion detection tuned yet.

The DCS-2132L has a small form factor and is fairly easy to get up and running quickly. Complete configuration takes a bit more time and the documentation and support is pretty poor. After talking to support and learning that a minimum of a Class 6 sd card is recommended, I went out and bought a 32GB micro SD card only to later learn they didn't support that size. Given the price, I would expected some internal memory for storage. Overall, a decent camera with surprising picture quality but I'm not sure I'd buy this again.
