Fun e-bike for around town but no good for hills or mountains. My Defiant has had too many problems to make it worth the money. Overheating motor, component failure, bike came with wrong size tubes causing catastrophic blow out while riding. Now it’s having electrical and battery problems with only 1200 miles on the odometer.

I love this bike. It isn't the kind of electric bike that has a throttle that makes it just go without pedaling. It is an electric assist bike, it amplifies the power you are putting in as you pedal. I have over 2,500 miles on it (Many in the MN Winter) and I've never had a problem. I get 40 to 60 miles per charge depending on how I'm riding. It's a heavy bike but with the motor, you'd never notice. If you want to ride in the winter, this is the ticket. I even love it in the summer, my mountain bike has been hanging on the wall gathering dust for 18 months. It is great exercise and it allows me to go further and faster than I otherwise would.

Living in Minnesota you might not think that biking is a year round mode of transportation. DEFIANT bicycles changes that idea completely. The fat tire with an electric assist motor make this a year round bike that will get you through a foot of snow in the winter or a ride on a trail in summer. These bikes are worth every penny and they look totally bad a**. You really have to ride one to appreciate how much fun they are. Stop putting your bike away in October. RIDE. ALL YEAR LONG!

I had one of the guys from Defiant meet me to do a test ride with one of the electric bikes that they have for testing. I had never ridden an electric bike before and the experience was incredible. It was summer when I rode the bike, but this thing would be an absolute gem in MN winters, where I am from. The price point is in line with other higher quality e-bikes I've seen, but I'd say the quality is as good if not better than bikes that are in the top pricing tier. If you know bikes, you know that these components are top notch. If you're unsure and are in the MN area - see if you can schedule a test ride - you will fall in love!
