It's a powerful little sub, was worried it wouldn't be powerful enough. Wanted the 6000 but it was out of stock, so I ordered 4000. I've been playing my Klipsch RP280F for over a 1.5 yrs now. But everything I read stated you need a bass to fill in low end, it does well.

So after much reviewing I narrowed it down to this- Here's why with pros & cons. First off I love the sub and only keep it around 25% for my small room of 9.5x13. Ive had it for a month now, & since it is a small room I wanted a small subwoofer, still I looked at some larger sets such as the Martin Logan's and popular SVS in which I considered them but even with their smallest sub, it is still quite big. Now the thing is, for the price svs is great bang for the buck, but if you need the smaller size and don't mind the extra $$ then this truly is the best small subwoofer. Other subs I noticed sounded louder but super muddy and lack of detail that I did not know a subwoofer had so much of until I did the side by side tests. Many other subs I tested such as the klipsch 12" and Dynamo 700 had more output, but just wasn't as good in my opinion. Then in the future I plan on getting 2, which is always better then 1, I will then have the output power and all the awesome small size detail this guy has. Bravo & thank you DefTech! *NOTE: Friggin amazing to actually have a remote for you sub which this comes with that i don't know other subs that do that, comes so much in handy!!! Also every 30 mins to an hour or so when the sub is not on, it displays "OFF" , that gets a little bit annoying, there should hopefully be a way to get rid of it but never took the time to try to figure it out 1st picture is the day I got to hear comparisons with the klipsch, logan, b&w & super cube. other is it in my set up (in future when I move ill give it more breathing room) and shows how nicely hidden and how well this sub fit into small spaces. Regardless of the size of the room, at least one sub is always necessary- hope I helped!

I bought this sub for 3 reasons. 1) Size 2) Reviews 3) Low Bass level Been listening to music for 1 1/2 yrs with out a sub, Klipsch RP280F goes to 32db. But all I read was you need a sub, so now it fills in nicely. But not a drop and plug in, takes time to dial in.

Purchased at the end of January 2017, the Super Cube 4000 has completed its break-in period and the bass sounds very tight and deep. I have the unit set at about half volume with the equalizer set to OFF, which sounds the most natural for my tastes. I mostly watch HD movies and TV shows on my Sony 55” KDLHX800 flat screen. I also listen to digital music streamed from my computer and off the internet. Occasionally I watch movies on DVD. This new unit replaced a ten-year-old ACI Force subwoofer with a 10” driver and a 250Wrms analogue amplifier. The Super Cube 4000, with its 8” active driver, 2x 8” passive resonators and 1200-watt digital amplifier provides more than sufficient controlled bass output for my home theater system. My living room with connected dining area is approximately 15’ x 25’ x 8”. I use a Yamaha RX-A2040 home theater receiver to deliver the LFE signal to the subwoofer and the incorporated YPAO automatic speaker setup program to integrate the subwoofer with my main Magnepan MG-12 planar speakers. The Super Cube 4000 more than meets my needs, seamlessly blends with my other speakers. It may not provide the thunder clap of a 12” or larger unit, but it does provide very realistic and extended bass at normal listening levels and for those elevated movie soundtracks. Its small footprint also allows it to be placed in the best location without being intrusive. Highly recommended!

Definitive Technology is one of the high value manufacturers. They may not be the best products of their respective classes but they certainly perform well and are of high value. In theatre applications, unlike its 2-channel counterpart, sound image (and arguably critical sound quality) is not as crucial as 2-channel audio. It is mostly due to the actual sound recording on movies that rely on surround sound technology. The super cube is an excellent product for home theatre application - small, powerful, and flexible. Highly recommended.

Ordered the Super Cube 4000 without hearing it first, which for me is a first when it comes to audio. Is replacing a Cambridge Soundworks p200 which died and had been without bass for like 9 mos. All I can say is WOW this thing puts out impressive bass. It is tight, clean and full. It sounds great for movies as well as music across all generas. It shakes my living room (18x22 10'ceilings) and literally makes me giggle when I crank it up when the boss is gone... I did by by the way listen to a bunch off subs in store like the B&W, Klipsch, Sonos? and few other Def Tech and to me, this thing outperforms. Enjoy!

I am using this with a 5.1 set up including two floorstanding 9060's up front which also have subwoofers built into them. When everything is working properly and tuned this subwoofer sounds fantastic and really gets nice lows that are missing from the two front towers (those really act more like heavy mids anyway) The reason I have given it 4 stars instead of 5 is because after about a month or less of use, there is a really annoying vibrating noise coming from the cabinet. It does not sound like it is a blown speaker and when investigating it sounds more like there is something inside that the woofer may be vibrating against or maybe loosened up. It drove me crazy because it sounded like something vibrating in my living room and I tried to track it down just in case it was not from the sub. After not having luck tracking it down I determined it had to be this speaker, so I took it down to best buy so they could hook it up to their audio room and confirm what I thought. Sure enough it was a bad unit and they happily ordered me a new one to replace this one. I haven't gotten that replacement yet, but I feel pretty confident that it will sound much better. Aside from audio quality I really like the size of this thing. I have it sitting behind our sofa (I ran a subwoofer line in the wall to the receiver media panel up front) and it barely takes up any space at all. Overall I am very happy with this subwoofer and will likely change the rating to 5 stars once the new one arrives and gets some decent use.

I have wanted to add this sub to my theater system since hearing it in a friends theater system. I fell in love right away. Now that I own it, I love it even more. This sub packs a serious punch for its small size. My last sub was a 10 inch which was significantly larger & had far less power. Not only does the definitive sound great but it's piano finish matches my existing tower/surround speakers. Thanks Best Buy & Definitive.

My theater is 19 x 19. I had a larger subwoofer but had to keep it turned way down to keep from dominating the sound. This one has plenty of power and clean sound.

This sub packs a punch and delivers tight bass. Now don’t expect it to drop much below 25hz like a bigger sub , but if you don’t need the deepest bass then this sub is good for you. Also if you don’t have the room or you just don’t want a sub the size of a coffee table then this sub is good for you to , it is very compact and stylish and comes with a remote for tweaking. If you have a big room don’t think this sub is for you unless you can position a couple around the room . It is just plain math. Don’t expect a compact sub to fill a huge room . My room is about 30x21 and I am using two of them and like I said they slam for movies and sound good for music just don’t expect the deepest notes. Hope this helps.

If your looking for Goliath, this is not your subwoofer. BUT if you want bang for the buck and the especially the space...now we're talking. At full price some might think this a little pricey because of the size. What was important to me was to have an amazing movie experience without having the speakers overwhelm the room or my wallet. This was the perfect answer for me. These subs shake the floor by themselves, even with out help from my other sub. What makes them worth the upgrade over the SC 2000? Beside more power and accuracy, it come with a remote and EQ settings that can be adjusted from the listening position. This makes it simple and fast to optimize for both movies and music. I like a deal, so I waited until the SC4000 went on sale just above normal SC200 price. In any case, worth the upgrade for sure!

I initially purchased a Klipsch R-12SW, but ended up returning it due to its very large dimensions. The SC4000 is very small and came in a nicely secured package (heavier than I expected). The overall exterior build quality is 10/10 and you are paying for that piano finish, gold plated terminals, rubber covers for those gold terminals, little remote, etc. It's a fancy little sub, but it can output nice clean bass for either music or home theatre. A single SC4000 is sufficient, but I ended up purchasing 2 of them (to avoid flat spots) and have them placed on each side of the TV. Since I have 2 of them, I generally keep the volume between 15 and 20 (40 is max) and it's more than sufficient for my needs. I had the opportunity to compare it to the Klipsch R-12SW side by side (which is a 12" 400W ported sub) and I can tell you that you'd be kidding yourself if you think that SC4000 can output the same bass as a decent 12" sub. At 30% gain, the Klipsch was as loud as the SC4000 at volume 25/40, while producing deeper and tighter bass than the SC4000. The Klipsch got even stronger at 40% gain without any strain, while the SC4000 seems to be electronically limited to prevent it from killing itself as you increase the volume. I am not knocking the SC4000 at all, and at the end of the day I ended up keeping it, but I just want people to have real expectations.

The SuperCube 4000 by itself is a good subwoofer and is definitely one that should be considered if space is a consideration. In my case, I should have gone with the 6000 or even 8000 model to get the volume I was looking for. However, I can and likely will get another 4000 which because of their size and performance, should make an excellent combination that I will ultimately be happier with than I would have been with a single SuperCube 6000. With the above stated, it gets 4 stars and not 5 because I found it to be harder than the previous 2 subwoofers to properly place in our living room and by itself doesn't meet my needs.

This is my first sub from the Definitive Technology family. Technically, no since l have always been a huge fan of the Klipsch family. The interesting thing about this Supercube subwoofer is its miniature size but it packs a punch like no other. Love it so much. If you love big sound in small packages then you got it. This is the real deal for me and it has complimented my recently designed home theater big time. Would have no other sub at this time.

I purchased the SC4000 after I tried the SC2000 with the def tech 8060 front speakers. This speaker is better matched with the 8060 speakers. I need to try more movies and music to tune it a bit more but at initial setup with the Yamaha YPAO auto setup it is musically seamless integration with the 8060. Can't wait to really turn it up to see how much I can feel the bass when watching a movie. For the price this is a great middle ground of the def tech subs and the size is perfect. All their subs are great for their size.

I have used other subs in the past Velodyne, Polk etc... I have the Super Cube hooked up to an HK 3700 A/V receiver in an open floor plan living room. (40 x 37) area. Visually the sub looks so tiny in such a large space and the hi gloss finish is beautiful (girl friend approved). The sound quality is great. It is smooth and deep. It can rattle the furniture with the correct incentive (movie), but it is also very detailed and gives the sound of the other speakers a "full bodied" or fleshed out quality that was missing with out the SuperCube.

I have a large room that is open on two sides and my 400 watt Klipsch didn't give me the punch I was looking for. I read may articles on running dual subs and wont try to repeat what is already well documented. I ought the sub, tunes it to my space and was not disappointed. At half volume this sub shakes the house. It's has power and settings if subs twice twice cost. The remote makes tuning the sub simple.

This little cube is both beautiful in appearance (love the gloss finish as well as the digital display) and powerful with no distortion. I use this for a dedicated home theater for movie watching, television, gaming, and music. It sounds simply amazing. The cube proves big things do come in little packages.
