Customers admire the W7 speaker's sound quality, ease of use, and impressive bass response, frequently praising its compact size and attractive design. However, some users experienced connectivity problems and found the app to be less than intuitive or fully functional. A few also commented on the relatively high price point.

I added a W7 to my Def Tech Micro Studio sound bar in loft area of my house to complete the package. Loft is large, 18'x25' but together they fill house with rich clean sound in perfect sync. You can play one zone or the other or both together, and adjust the volumes individually from your smart phone, tablet or the units themselves. There is no remote or sound settings on the W7 like the micro system has but, it still sounds amazing for its size and I had the Bose (w/ 5 jewel speakers)
which lacked the depth and richness when playing music. Pretty easy to add to your wifi and they stay connected well. Software is good and they occasionally update and add features like Amazon prime music awhile ago.

I really enjoy having sound anywhere in or outside the house. The speaker has a rich full sound.
One drawback that we did encounter is some music, all of which has been paid for on iTunes/CD's will not play through the wireless speaker due to Digital Rights Management Issues. After talking to Apple and Definitive Tech reps it seems as though neither has a good explanation or plan to make it possible to play music for which I have already paid. There does not seem to be any consistency among the artists whose music I can not play. I would like to know if there is a simple solution to this problem.
Best Buy and/or Definitive Technology should make the buyer aware of this issue.

The sound reproduced is phenomenal. It's compact size fits anywhere. The unit is solidly built with great ergonomic accessibility, even in the dark. The highs are all there, mid range is full and clean. The base is impressive without being muddy. This is my first dive into the wireless Hifi pool and Definitive Technology fully delivered!

Bought a pair of these today and wow what great sounding speakers!
Nice bass output and clean sound and can't get over how great sounding these are. Turn them up they can get quite loud. I had no trouble setting the speakers up software worked fine for me. With the buy one get one deal you can't go wrong..

This speaker works great with our Polk soundbar through the playfi app. With this speaker we are able to have music throughout our house. The quality is excellent- price is a bit high since its not completely wireless (theres a power cord that has to be used).

We bought two wireless speakers to go with a soundbar for our Sony TV. You have to use the definitive tech app on a tablet or computer to connect them. The app does not explain that you either set up as soundbar and speakers to use with the TV OR set up to listen to music through the app. The app does NOT allow both set ups, so to switch between TV or music, you must re-set up the system each time. I spoke to the def tech people directly, and they know this is a problem, but I was told there was no timeline for them to address it.

The sound quality is great, but getting the system to work as it should is where the struggle is. We chose this system over Sonos for sound quality, but the Play Fi system to use it leaves a lot to be desired - often we can’t get it to recognize certain speakers, or it drops them altogether. Hopefully they will make updates on that end - and then the speakers and system can be used as they should be able to be used.

This speaker is top of the line quality but a little pricey at $400.
We ended up exchanging it for the harman kardon onyx studio 2 for only $150 & was equally satisfied.

Sound quality is very very good
Fills space extremely well for its size. I can't imagine a room too big for this speaker. The app is the only weak part. Not intuitive at all to use. App is limited but a new programmer could solve these problems easily in an update.

Let me clear first thing that I have bought this speaker for Best Buy 1 day deal for for only $199. Now for this price, what I have paid, this is the best speaker you can get when it comes to build quality and sound quality for small rooms. I have placed on in bathroom and one in kitchen. The Play-Fi is still not fully backed product and the app is still quirky and buggy from time to time but I have TIDAL and Spotify as 2 my main source for getting all my music but I have also bought 2 Chromecast Audio and plugged in via Optical Cable and that's way I am getting all my other apps like Google Play music and pretty much everything else so with this particular setup for this price I have paid . This is much better sound in comparison to sonos. Now sonos is great too specially the ease of use and the entire ecosystem but for sound quality , I am getting much better value here.

We like the definitive Sound bar (that we already had) and the wireless speaker is a great addition. I hope Definitive Technology adds the ability to have the TV sound go to the wireless speakers soon! Music is great but an occasional football game would be nice to have on all the speakers.

The set-up was very easy, and initially the speaker worked great. Excellent sound for its size. But, then I started noticing frequent drop outs. Called very nice customer rep. who recommended I purchase a new router (I have Verizon Fios). No thanks. Then, I noticed several of my downloaded classical music selections in which movements are subdivided into a number of smaller sections are not seamless (gap-less), which produces intolerable breaks when trying to listen through a symphonic movement. This does not happen with Bluetooth, and it's unfortunately a problem with the wireless chip in the speaker, and therefore cannot be rectified. Back went the speaker. I bought the Bose Resolve + instead. OK, the audio is compressed some in Bluetooth, but it's more than good enough for my needs and it works magnificently.

Great speaker and sound and only works real well with Defenitive app and not the 3rd party Play-Fi app. Issues connecting and playing music using Spotify but outside of that not a bad speaker.

I absolutely LOVE the rich sound! Paired with the Definative soundbar, we are VERY happy. The clarity is amazing! However, for whatever reason, Pandora does not want to play nice with these speakers. No problems at all with Spotify or internet radio. We plan to add more Definative speakers in the future -

I like the W7 speaker it has nice quality sound out put. It does not have enough volume for an audio file person. I use it with a fiber optic cable to my Kitchen TV. It adds a nice sound to the room but it is not adjustable for real loud sound. it does not increase or decrease sound as you turn volume up or down by TV. Adjustable manually or by your blue tooth which I do not carry with me 24 hour. A great sound and nice looking product. I would give it 5 stars but for the volume control.

I was looking for a single speaker for a sitting room and auditioned Sonos, Bose and the Definitive Technology devices in the $300 range. And the W7 sounded so much better with a deep natural sound. After getting the single speaker, it was only a couple of weeks and I got a second one to create a stereo pair. They sound great and are very discreet sitting as they do on side tables.
But, I have had a lot of problems with the speakers disappearing from the app (the app is the only way to send music to the speakers). Definitive's customer support provided some guidance to put the speakers on a 2.4GHz network AND turn off my AUTO channel feature on my router. So far these changes have made the set-up much more reliable.
The iOS app only has a limited number of music services, and although the popular ones are included its not possible to route just any audio to the speakers (as you can with bluetooth or AirPlay speakers). And there is no OS X native application (just Windows) and they have no intentions to develop.
With all that said, I love the speakers for their sound and how unobtrusive they are.

This small speaker delivers room filling sound with great detail as to crisp highs and deep bass.
I found set up challenging. It was basically a hit and miss situation. I am still having difficulty running this speaker and a Definitive Technology sound bar in another room at the same time thus getting a "whole house" effect.
This speaker is expensive but worth the money as to sound quality. I used some Best Buy Rewards dollars to lessen the blow. Will continue to work on multi-speaker set up.

I’ve had high end equipment since the 1970s. Speakers previously owned.
Klipsh LaScalla, klipsh hersey, Bose 601,701,901. And many more. A year ago I sold all of my equipment. Yes big mistake. Well the wife wanted a Bose wireless for Christmas. Did a little research and found this speaker.
Purchased and set up before wrapping for Christmas. WOW this speaker is great,, it has great highs and mids and the base is true, not overpowering. Have two now plan on buying more later. Hope this review helps. Buy this speaker and you won’t be disappointed.
