Bought this for my son to use for college as well as gaming. It works well for both. Because it's a robust laptop, it is heavier than some. But you get what you pay for. The speed and memory size is important to really get programs to quickly process. A fair price for the configuration.

This laptop loads quickly, powers through whatever project I am working on and allows for ease of use. I have had a lot of laptops over the years and find this to be the most compact, lightest and fastest of all of them. Great machine

Intel 17 9750H Nvidia 1660ti full size (Non-Max-Q) 16 GB GDDR4 (2x8GB) 1080p 60Hz Enjoyable Laptop that'll last me long while. I've replaced the original SSD's with new Samsung NVMe SSD's. No particular reason other than I had the SSD's handy. GPU is overclockable though would recommend not laying it flat on your table and allow for it to breath. Once warmed up the fans kick in and can be a bit loud though with great power comes great noise. Ran Shadow of the Tomb Raider at 60Hz with all settings on High. I'm looking forward to replacing the display with a 120Hz screen. This is a thing for most gaming laptops if you look hard enough.

My son and I picked this up as a lower-level open-box deal, and were initially excited to get this running. CAUTION: while I've never had this happen before, this one did NOT include the OEM power brick. The store was super cool and sold us a 90w after-market charger that said it was universal, and did have the correct adapter to fit this Dell, but this dell REQUIRES the MUCH HIGHER output of their gaming laptop power bricks to charge and run these higher performance laptops. Once we realized this (after we got home), we went back to the store, and the manager (who I think was genuinely as disappointed as us in this situation) was able to find another open-box unit that fit our hopes, and did include a power brick. My son had been saving for 1 year to buy his first gaming laptop, so after an initial bummer moment, I have to say I'll come back to Bestbuy again and again for their willingness to get it right! As far as the laptop goes, it looks great, and ran great on the initial charge that was on it, but you HAVE TO USE THE OEM charger. It will not run on an after market charger.

Dell - G5 15.6" Gaming Laptop - Intel Core i7... Is a excellent laptop great keyboard response and magnificent Graphics due to the,NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q graphics card... I've had purchased the Dell - G5 15.6" Gaming Laptop, 7 months ago, and for the price you're not going to find a better computer, with the same specifications... With some heavy gaming as well as running Microsoft Office and the computer being used or Netflix as well as watching YouTube TV... One last note at the time that I had purchased the Dell - G5 15.6" Gaming Laptop, it was the least expensive model Del that still came with the Alienware software on bored, including the Alienware gaming apps, and the Alienware software and Driver updaters to make sure that only the required, "Dell Alienware" drivers were installed on your Dell device... So make sure when your purchasing a Dell computer, fired the computer up and see if it comes with the Alienware softwares installed... For me the Alienware software was a nice surprise, and a "great perk", and the first thing I did, was registered the alien software and I ran the computer through its paces :-). good gaming, at 82fps at 1080p and 52fps at 1440p...

I bought this computer because we needed a second computer at home with the kids now doing school at home due to COVID-19 and I wanted something fast enough to do video editing. The computer has more than enough speed and memory to meet our needs. We have not tried it as a gaming computer yet. It’s a little strange getting used to where to save to avoid saving too much on the SSD, but once we figured that out everything worked smoothly.

A decent laptop, especially if paired with additional cooling from a lap cooler. Without additional cooling gaming can definitely cause the system to throttle. However it does play games well, feels good to use, and is fast and, thus far, reliable.

I purchased this computer for work because it met all the requirements that I needed to run the programs required for my job.. this thing is super fast. Easy to use, note I’m saying that because I switched from a MAC Book pro... but the requirements for my job is a windows 10 pro based system. So that was the only additional upgrade I needed to make.

Dell - 15.6" Gaming Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti - 1TB Hard Drive + 256GB SSD - Deep Space Black. The specs on this laptop are impressive for the most part. They did take the low road on 1 thing that bothers me. The 1TB drive is a Toshiba 5400 rpm everyday drive. One you would expect to find in a cheap laptop. These drives are something like $20.00 or less to a manufacture. From here it gets better. It takes about 15 minutes to swap out the Toshiba HDD for an off the shelf SSD, and the increase in speed is worth it. Not so much for standard every day tasks, but many programs look for the drive with the most space to do their storage. So the faster that drive is the less time you’ll spend waiting for something to load. This includes boot time into Windows. The specs as delivered. CPU-i7-9750H 6 cores, 12 threads, base clock at 2.6 GHz, turbo up to 4.1 GHz. Dual Video cards. 1 Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti, 6 gigs of GDDR6 ram. 1 Intel UHD 630 1 gig ram. Sk Hynix 256 gig PCIe OS SSD. Toshiba 5400rpm 1 TB Data HDD. 16 gigs of DDR4 ram @ 2667MHz. No Optical drive (typical now) 1 USB-C 3.1 (PowerShare) 3 USB 3.1 (1 of the 3 is PowerShare) Headphone/Mic jack Dedicated charging jack 1 HDMI 1 Mini Display Port 1 Full side SD card slot Weight 6lbs. 1.6ozs. 15.6” FHD Display with Webcam and stereo Mics. Not touch screen. 60Wh internal battery. 180W (yes 180w) charger. It weighs 1lb all by itself. The laptop is a standard length and width for a 15.6” laptop but it is 1-1/8” thick. Nice, Blue backlit full size keyboard. Track pad mouse. ( not very user friendly ). This is not a laptop you’ll be putting in your backpack and carrying to school. It has ports on Left, Right, and the back. The run time for standard Web/Word use is well into the 7 to 8 hour mark. Bench marks. The bad, Intel video card – 3D DX9 9.2fps. 3D DX10 5.1 fps. Toshiba HDD – Seq 82.2MB/s, Random 4k 29.1 MB/s, Deep Que 4k 109 MB/s. The good, i7-7950H – Single core 135pts, Quad core 484pts, Multi core 944pts. Nvidia GTX 1660Ti – 3D DX9 245fps, 3D DX10 199fps. SK Hynix 256 OS SSD – Seq 618 MB/s, Random 4k 59.4 MB/s, Deep Que 4k 521 MB/s. 16 gigs ram – 29.7 GB/s, 57.9 ns latency. Swapped out Toshiba HDD for off the shelf SSD. 860 EVO 1 TB - Seq 443 MB/s, Random 4k 48.1 MB/s, Deep Que 4k 521MB/s. Real time tests. All tests done with battery fully charged and running on battery only. Run time using the Web and Word, doing standard every day computing and watching YouTube a bit. At 6 hours of continues use battery was at 35%. This would make it a great work station for an office. Game play, first with battery fully charged and running on battery. Assassins Creed Origins. All game setting at normal. The game is almost unplayable because of CPU power limitations on battery. Playing for 10 minutes only discharged the battery to 97%. Cooling fans were not too loud. Same game with power adapter plugged in. Battery at 97%. All game settings at normal. Fully playable and fluid game play. No glitches or slowdowns. Fans are loud. No battery drain at all after 30 minutes of play. Power supply is not only keeping up but it charged the battery back to 100%. Video resolution set to 200. Fully playable and fluid game play. Very minor video glitches, no slowdowns. Fans are very loud. No battery drain at all after 30 minutes of play. Power supply kept the battery at 100%. Assassins Creed Origins is the most power intensive game I have. I only have 1 other computer that will run it, and it's my desktop ( CAD workstation ) with very similar specs as this laptop. Except for the cheap Toshiba HDD I found this laptop to be a real gaming computer. But in 15 minutes the Toshiba was out and the EVO 860 was in. My only real gripe, the case is a finger print magnet. No matter how hard I tried to keep the finger prints off it, as soon as I opened the lid, there they were. But who really cares about finger prints on the case.

The Dell G5 is one of the only gaming laptops I'd recommend to a thirty-something professional who wants discrete graphics for gaming performance but occasionally also has to take a laptop into work. The design is sleek, adult, and professional-adjacent. There are no green glowing logos or anything like that. But it can run most modern games at 1080p. It's not a commuter laptop that will help you get a lot of work/gaming done on the train. The battery drains pretty quickly when using 3d graphics. It's heavy as heck. At 5+ lbs, I can't imagine commuting with this beast (once I get to start commuting again, obviously). I ended up trading it in for the feather-light-in-comparison 1.75 lbs Surface Pro 7. I'm hoping this is the year Game Streaming (Microsoft's Game Pass Ultimate, Nvidea's GeForce NOW, Google's Stadia) goes big and discrete graphics start to matter less anyway.

I bought this laptop after being dissatisfied with my old laptop in regards to gaming. This one is great! It surprisingly doesn't heat up as much as my old one used to and it runs solid on even the more demanding games. I've tried far cry 5 and assassin's Creed origins and it can run it in the max settings with ease

I went in to get the 17" Dell but they couldn't find the 1 it showed in stock so i settled on this one. So far i really like it. Pretty quick and not loud at all. I mainly use it for work, but I'm glad I can game when i travel. Only complaint is it is a little too heavy.

Found this machine to be easy to work with. Loaded my gaming info without trouble. Put the bigger loads to the D drive (1 TB hard drive) to help keep solid state drive less cluttered would have liked to see a bigger solid state drive to round out the package better.

The G5 Dell is considered to be a mid teir gaming laptop that had a great body with little to no flex in the keyboard. Small bezzles and a great keyboard layout with shallow but responsive keys. Main thing to recommend with this machine is if you dont want all the extra dell services (bloatware) reset the laptop with a fresh copy of windows 10 Now you have a faster capable laptop Faster as freeing up more extra Ram to use while the system runs idle. One thing about this machine is the display is lacking but you can fix that in the graphics settings... increase contrast amd brightness a tad and put about 5 to 7% more saturation and the panel looks amazing from there... would recommend this to anyone really I7 with 6 cores 12 threads 16 gb ram ddr4 1tb 5200 rpm HDD 256 nvme SSD 1660ti 6gb ddr6 vram Amazing laptop for the price
