Fast Core I7 processor, 12Gigs of memory, and a 512 GB solid state drive. Very flexible to be used as a laptop and a touch screen tablet. It can hold a lot of photos!

My first laptop with SSD Drive. With i7 Processor 12 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD Drive this laptop is lightning fast compared to my traditional i3 Processor 8GB RAM and 1TB Hard Drive laptop. I'm enjoying it and getting more things done. And it is reasonably priced versus the Dell Higher version with the same specs. Except the screen resolution which is irrelevant with my use. HD screen is good enough.

Disclaimer: I do not give 5 stars unless it is life changing and works without any flaws. I also purchase this laptop on September 3, 2016 and writing the review on November 24, 2016. Pictures are from my iPhone. Screen does NOT look like that. Wanted to show the screen size while on. I read every review and checked multiple sites (Amazon, Dell, MicroCenter, and Consumer Report) to make sure which laptop to buy to replace my 10 year old Dell laptop. Below are some of the things I was concerned and liked about while picking out a computer with my response in (...) after purchasing it. Concerns: -Black lines showed up on screen (Update the video drive and this takes care of the issue) -Battery life (I have seen great use out of it. Adjust screen settings to dimmer and also have the screen turn off after few minutes of activity, based on what you are planning to use it for, for example surfing the internet) -Sound quality (Works great. Sounds slightly different than the speakers facing right at me. Getting use to them but I wouldn't return it because of the sound) Power button (Still not fully use to it as occasionally I will hit it as I am adjusting my laptop. Not sure their thinking behind this one) What I liked about it: -Solid State Drive (Absolute must when considering a new laptop. Still love it for the price I got. Light and easy while extremely fast) -Adjusting from Laptop to tablet (Haven't used the tablet side as much. Works great when I have used it) -Speed (Extremely fast. I got the i7 with the 1TB hard drive.) -WORKS FOR GOPRO VIDEOS (I have been searching for the right laptop that is the best bang for my dollar. This is the ideal computer. I am not an avid video maker as their are plenty of better ones for the more advance video maker. This is exactly what I am looking for as occasionally I will go on a trip and want to put something together. Excellent) Overall: I had some slight concerns after reading the product reviews but after taking the dive, I am glad I did. After the updated graphics drive, I have not had an issue with it. The Solid state drive is a MUST when purchasing a computer nowadays.

I have not had any problems with this unit like a few folks have reported. The touchpad is OK, though I prefer a USB mouse. After 3 months of use, the laptop has performed perfectly in both office and home environments and on airplanes. Note that this is a 6th generation Skylake i7, not the latest 7th gen, but unless you need 4K display support and even better battery time, this unit is a bargain. Best Buy has listed it for $799 to $999 and today is listed at $899. Keyboard is responsive enough for fast typing. It is a bit compressed from side-to-side, but row spacing is close to a full sized keyboard. The back lighting has two level settings and is excellent lower light situations, including full dark. Key travel is acceptable though shorter than a full keyboard. Transformation form laptop mode to tablet and back is smooth and without any problems so far. The touch screen is responsive and without any dead spots that I've found to date. Clarity and color of the display are very good to excellent depending on what you are displaying. Streaming video is excellent in HD with adequate internet bandwidth. Note that this unit does NOT have a DVD drive, but there are 2 USB ports as well as a USBc port, so connecting one is not a problem. The SSD is a mid-range unit from SK Hynix, a relative newcomer. This laptop has the SC308 and to date has performed well. Other units may have other drives since manufacturers will always look for the best deal on these kinds of modular parts to install. There are 2 memory slots with one 8GB and one 4GB from two different manufacturers that work together fine. Your unit may vary. If you are somehow who has time and talent to substitute SSDs and memory, this unit is very easy to change/upgrade, including installing a new battery if needed. The rest of the unit is relatively modular as well, so other maintenance may be easier than other brands like Lenovo. Shortly after powering this up for the first time, Dell downloaded an updated BIOS which installed without any problems. If you can find one of these, buy it.

My wife last time she bought a laptop was back when Sony Vio was still a laptop. Now it was time to upgrade to something much faster. We both agreed HP would not be the best. Here is the breakdown of my likes and dislikes. Likes; Its lightweight, charge holds very well, keyboard easily adaptable, I like that is touch screen, it has great features and the sound is loud, its a convertible laptop so also can be a tablet, the finish on it looks nice, reminds me of Apple products and the laptop is strong, which I had HP's and they are not strong at all. The screen is also not wobbly like my HP was as well. Dislikes: I do not like the power button on the side, do not like there is no difference between left and right mouse button. The mouse pad is very sensitive like the font changes from 100% to 50%. I do not like when you press F2 it changes volume not other things it universally supposed to do. The face recognition is not the best, the screen needs to be perfectly straight. I also do not like the charging adapter since its a complete different and smaller plug like other laptops I have had. All in all i would recommend the laptop but I wouldn't highly recommend it.

I really love DELL, and this is an amazing piece from them. I love the touchscreen, 360 degree foldable and finally its speed. I really recommend it, though doesnt have dedicated graphic card, integrated graphics is sufficient for me. Pros: Battery back up (almost 5 hrs) Design, weight keyboard Cons Graphic card

I've had this computer for about a month now. I bought it for school. I've loved that it's so fast and compact. It fits easily into my backpack and doesn't add that much weight to the load. It's so thin I hardly notice it's there. The screen can be slightly glitchy and has been showing black lines.. they go away if I highlight the page but it's definitely something I need to get checked out..I love that it boots up right away and doesn't seem to lag when going one from one page to the next. I love the touch screen/tablet option! I use it rarely but it's nice to have the option when I want to switch over with certain programs. Only gave it a 4 because of the glitchy screen and slowish response when using touch mode.

I have had this laptop for just over a year, more like a year and a half, and this laptop has been just perfect. The tablet feature is great if you want to draw on the tablet, or for setting up so you can binge watch Netflix when you're supposed to write a paper. The computer has very, very few hang-ups, and the only hang up is when a website causes too many popups. The screen resolution is fantastic and the laptop handles basic gaming very well. I can run Minecraft, Ark Survival, Amnesia, all on my laptop without sacrificing game quality or computer speed. The design is very sleek and the battery lasts 6-8 hours for me even after a year of constant use. The keys don't trap dirt in and the computer is very easy to clean. I highly recommend for students in STEM majors as it easily handles Chem Draw or the different computer programs needed. The memory is more than enough for all the pictures, games, and files that I have saved on it. Very cost effective and an excellent computer.

I upgraded from an earlier Inspirion 13 7000 with an I5 that went to my son. I really like the size, weight, and performance of the 13/7000 series laptops. They strike a good balance of functionality, portability, and power for their price point. My only complaint is the USB 3.1C port. I've tried using my usb 3.0 devices, and they seem to come to a standstill. Not sure if it's implemented well by Dell, needs a driver update, or requires 3.1 devices only. It's pretty much useless for any usb device at this point. Will contact Dell on this. Other than that a great laptop. We have three variations of the 13/7000 in the family now. Highly recommended!

It is very fast in uploading pictures, internet downloads and searches. Not heavy when carried to work. User friendly. Battery life excellent. I started working 12 noon, lasted me till 1930. Even if I have a lot of windows open, they do not hinder speed. Worth the money because it saved me a lot of time. Will not hesitate to buy again.

I purchased this laptop to replace a Lenovo 15" that I'd had for about three years. I had problems with the Lenovo and had wanted a new laptop for some time. I decided to downsize for ease of portability. This laptop is great!. It has functioned flawlessly from day 1 and everything works as it should. Battery life is incredible, especially compared to the Lenovo. The keyboard has taken a little getting used to but not a con. I miss my number pad but I'll get used to it. This is my first touch screen so I am still getting used to that feature. I'm sure I'll grow to like this computer even more once I adapt to it's capabilities. It is very quiet! Of course it has no optical drive, but I already had an external and haven't really needed it anyway. The backlit keyboard really helps in low lighting. The only problem I've had so far is the U key came off. I was able to get it back on, but I'm hoping this will not be an ongoing issue. I'm not rough on my electronic devices, so I was surprised this happened. The versatility of this computer coupled with the great features and blazing speed make it an easy choice if you're in the market for a new laptop/notebook. I also got a FANTASTIC deal through Best Buy with student discount!

I bought this laptop for school, a transition from my HP Envy I had used for about 2 years. Just for starters I want to say that I really did not like my Envy very much. It froze up often, the touch pad was awful and it was a bit bigger than I would have liked. With that in mind, I was honestly expecting to be let down by my new Dell, yet so far nothing about this laptop has disappointed me. The tablet mode is easy and minus the weird feeling of the keypad underneath, feels just like a tablet. It charges quickly and so far the battery lasts a considerable amount of time (I can use it for a few hours for about 2 or 3 days and not have to plug it in) It is very lightweight and is easy to carry to classes. My only complaint is that I found the same laptop with more memory and a bigger hard drive for about the same price later from somewhere else, so not really a computer specific issue as much as a Best Buy problem. Also, I have noticed that if you are playing games/streaming video it does heat up pretty quickly, however whenever I am strictly working on Word Documents or online quizzes I don't have this problem.

I bought this laptop for graduate school, and use it around 8-12 hours a day. I have absolutely loved the smaller size, all the awesome features (like facial recognition log in) and it has taken a bit of a beating (has fallen off the couch a few times while still open, no problem)! The battery life is adequate for my needs, and the keys are very responsive (and have not fallen off, unlike some of my colleagues' laptops). I would definitely recommend!

I was looking for specs, portability, and a solid build. The computer has a full metal build (including the bottom panel). I have an i7/12gb/512gb model and it's definitely fast. When it comes to everyday use it is faster thanks its SSD storage. I have not done heavy applications as I have a stationary quad core i7. I plan to bring my 7000 to college this fall and I'm confident it will serve my needs through my engineering classes. The only thing is it has a solid 6 hr battery life but nothing more, I know there are other laptops with battery life. The screen could also be brighter. The first day I also was facing issues with the auxiliary jack. This turned out to be an audio driver issue along with compatibility with the MaxxAudio settings. I was on the phone with Dell for 3 hours and finally resolved the issue with their amazing customer service. In the end, I am very satisfied with my first Dell product.

Although very much a mid-range laptop in terms of specifications, the Dell Inspiron is a big step up from the Lenovo and HP. The processor is an Intel Core i7, and it runs at 2.2Ghz. Direct comparison of that figure with the 2.16GHz of the Acer or HP might suggest similar performance, but comparing chip clock-speeds isn't really an accurate reflection of the Dell's capabilities. The Dell is, in reality, much more powerful. Its power is underlined by 12GB of RAM and 512GB of on-board solid state storage. Perhaps surprisingly, the laptop's battery life is still quite reasonable at up to ten hours. The Dell Inspiron weighs 3.64 pounds. That makes it heavier than some, but it's not excessive for a laptop with a 13.3-inch screen.
