Bought this initially during the Black Friday sales, but online. Easy set up but when I would boot it up a few times I would get a blue screen that indicated recovery was needed. So I brought it in since it was still under warranty to Geek Squad. They said I could get another one, but they didn't have one in the store that I would have to drive 15 miles or so to get it or they could to a recovery on it. I chose the latter one. I picked it up the next day and started it up. It fired up right away. It was ok for a few days until on the second day, I booted it up and the blue screen came back. Brought it straight to Best Buy and they gave me the same options but I added another option, full refund. I was not going to get another Dell and have it do the same thing and have to repeat the process over and over again. I have a Dell laptop, and it is great, but Dell desktops just have never been a good chose for me.

Tami,
We're sorry that you decided to return your new computer. In the future we'd recommend diagnosing the blue screen errors that you experienced so you could find out a way to resolve the errors and your computer could operate the way it is meant to.

I bought this as a replacement for a 10-year old system that had died. I originally ordered a gaming style machine, but there were problems in getting parts in a timely fashion. So I settled for this one as it was in stock locally since I needed a computer.
I purchased this as a value machine, but with possibilities for upgrades. The i7-8700 CPU is a workhorse with 6 cores and 12 threads operating at a stock clock of 3.2 GHz. with a boost to 4.6 GHz. Memory is 12GB of DDR4-1666 SDRAM which can be increased to 32GB max. Disk storage is provided by a 256GB NVME SSD which is blazingly fast but a little small. It can be replaced by a 512GB NVME, but I decided to add an (existing) 1TB SATA SSD which is still fast. Operating system on the NVME; data on the SATA which is a decent compromise. To complete the storage I added an (existing) 2TB USB3 External HDD for archival purposes. There is also room for a second internal SSD/HDD if you want.
This model doesn't have a a separate GPU but uses the Intel 630 graphics embedded in the chip. This limits the machine's utility as a gaming device, but a separate GPU can be added, just watch out for adequate power supply.
The system is a little short on I/O ports. There are 2 USB3.1 ports on the front and 4 USB2.0 ports on the rear. I added an (existing) 2 USB3 adapter to the rear panel. However, be prepared to use a lot of USB hubs if you have a lot of external devices. The front panel also has a headphone jack and a SD/MMC card slot. The rear panel has the standard 3 audio ports, a HDMI port, a VGA port, and a 1Gb Ethernet jack. Finally, the unit comes with a DVD/CD burner for old times sake. (I actually like it, because I have a lot of old software titles on DVD, plus you can play old movie DVDs and music CDs.) 802.11b/g/n Wi-fi and Bluetooth 4.0 are also included. For better or worse, the system comes with Windows 10 Home and not too much bloatware.
The system is easy to open and is a pleasure to work with. All components that you might want to change are easily accessible and only require a few simple tools. Since I don't have a separate GPU, the only real source of heat is the CPU which is limited to 65W TDP. Thus the whole system is easy to air-cool and is virtually silent unless driven really, really hard.
I'm quite impressed with the machine and think it offers a convenient growth path for the future. The only caveat is don't expect it to excel at gaming or at video rendering, the power just isn't there. Also, there is zero RGB lighting; this is truly a simple unobtrusive black box.

Picked this up last night as an office unit. I am a number cruncher from home. Very fast machine. I also inserted my 1Tb Western Digital hard drive. Bought a set of speakers and a webcam. This machine is fabulous. I would much prefer putting a system together piece by piece. You get more wires, it may cost a bit more, but you don't get the junk they put into the all-in- one machines. At first I was concerned at the cheaply made construction, but then I realized I am an old geezer and you pay for technology over substance. Great machine.

I needed to upgrade on older, slower PC. This Inspirion fits the bill. Fast processor, plenty of memory and a solid state drive which allows for a lightning fast boot process. The improvement in speed over my previous computer makes this desktop worth every penny. I also liked the Dell update software which allows you to easily keep all the drivers and firmware in toe with the latest versions. The update software can also perform a thorough test of the hardware to make sure all is running optimally. I very nice feature.

This is a very good quick desktop, it doesn't have a dedicated graphics card if you want to game with it. I did have a 1 TB hard drive as it only comes with a 256 GB SSD and nobody throws anything away anymore. I wish instead of 8 GB and 4 GB ram sticks it would have come with 2 8's. Seems a bit like a cheap shortcut on Dell's part. I haven't run into any issues though and have ordered a DELL certified 16 GB ram stick to replace the 4 when the time comes. Dell tends to have some bloat ware - 2 antivirus, their backup and restore and a bit other but nothing too intrusive. the computer setup very easy. I would have installed the hard drive myself except for fear of voiding the warranty.

I needed to replace my small office home office computer with something that was going to be pretty robust Dell has never let me down and this was a great solution because it already came with a SSD primary drive. The only thing I did was added a secondary SSD drive and it’s performance is just spectacular. This unit does not use a standard power supply so in the future if you have problems you will need to get a Dell specific part number power supply. The unit is small compact and fits very easily on or under a desk also both the HDMI and the VGA connector is facilitate for dual monitor output without adding a video card

Installed programs and transferred files from old Dell desktop (9 yrs old) to this new one with a 256 SSD. Added a 1TB HDD to store video and music files, and use the SSD for system and Documents folder. Takes about 12 seconds to go from power on to password login. Programs open in just a few seconds (about 4 times faster than old computer). Totally satisfied with performance.

I had a very old Dell with an i3 chip. This one has an i7 and the difference is incredible. My only two slight complaints are, the DVD read / write is a bit slow when ripping CDs. So, I will get an external CD Burner. Also it only has 256 GBs of storage but, now a days you don't need a 1T built in. Buy an external Hard drive for 80.00. Other than that, this is a great little machine, But, the light underneath the power light keeps flashing white No problem though so far, I don't know what that is.

The Intel core i7 processor is very fast, system boots up quickly This model had all the feathers i wanted except I wanted an additional Hard Drive for file storage so I will have the Geek Squad add it for me. Set up was easy and every thing is working great.

I purchased this computer to replace my
Dell computer that died during a storm. It turns out to be a new version of my previous machine.
I purchased a external docking station to pull the data off my previous computer. I used one of the USB ports of the front for my wireless mouse and keyboard. The other port on the front is USB 3.0 which I used for the docking station. The mouse was very erratic until I disconnected the docking station.
I purchased a 3.0 USB hub. I was able to plug everything in the Hub. Not sure what caused the conflict on the ports in the front. While I never had a problem with Dell products in the past, I can not give it 5 Stars.
However, I would purchase this product again and I would gladly recommend it.

Easy connect and even better plug and play. I go way back with computers, and my last upgrade was about 8 years ago, but this one is as easy as they can come, even for the least experienced buyer it will be a great investment and super easy to hook up. Also, this I7 is very fast, no hesitations whatsoever! Great investment

I have purchased 2 of these models. One came with a M2 drive and I added a Quadro Video card and the other had a 1Tb HDD that I swapped out with a SSD and kept the HDD for bulk storage. I like that I could purchase a small desktop that could be easily modified to suit other "Super User" needs. Great little desktop computer. From what I could see the system could accommodate 1 M.2, 1 3.5" HDD and 2 2.5" SSD. It also has room for a mid size video card (may cover 1 PCIE slot) and 1 or 2 PCIE x1. Very Nice!

Now that I'm (finally) getting used to Windows 10 I'm really liking my new Dell-Inspiron Desktop with Solid State Drive. I had still been using Windows 7 Professional so took some getting used to Windows 10 but that's nothing against the Inspiron. It is speedy, and doing most everything I want from it. Only complaint/concern is that it will not run a really old program I have (Microsoft Home Publishing) that I use a lot. And that too is probably Windows 10 and not the computer!

Good looking desktop with the black and silver trim. The SSD with the I7 processor is very fast. Also the high speed USB ports and card reader on the front are very useful. Has cables inside to add a hard drive. Also several sockets on the mother board for data and power for extra drives. Easy to open to add cards. If you are in need of a good desktop, look into this one at Best Buy.

If you are tired of waiting for your computer to "boot up" and/or tired of waiting for it to catch up with your multi-tasking, do yourself a favor and invest in one of these bad boys. I bought one for my office and loved it so much I bought another one for my home office the following week. Trust me, it is worth every penny.
