If you are going to use the touch pad on a regular basis I would try a different brand. I have tried adjusting the sensitivity but even at the most sensitive I sometimes have to tap if multiple times before it works. In this age of smart phones with great touch sensitivity there is no excuse for using a sub-par pad. I would send it back to Dell for a pad replacement if I could do without it that long. That said, I suspect this is not a defective pad.
