My primary use of this display is for software development. I'll often operate with many split-paned windows where I mainly interact with text based programs. Having a larger, higher resolution display makes that experience amazing. Also, for my purposes the color quality is perfect.

For a photo editor this has been a fantastic monitor. The color is fantastic with a little calibration and the blacks are great.

The display worked great with my 2009 macbook pro. Unfortunately, I found out later that the VGA adapter I used with my Mac could only output 1920x1080 as max resolution.

Works great with a Mac using a mini-displayport to displayport cable. Also works with the right kind of HDMI cable. USB hub a plus. Light weight. Brightness is good. Color is a little bit on the bluer side than the MacPro Retina Display, but can be adjusted.

All my monitors are from Dell. I like this 27" widescreen one. Now I do not need two monitors on my desk. Just the right size and great resolution

I found better monitors as far as technical specifications were concerned but they lacked VGA support, which is still critical.

Hooked up to a mac pro, great monitor all around, i would strongly recommend getting a display port cable to get the full resolution, a dvi/avi cable is low res

Dell's monitors have always been good, but the Ultra Sharp monitors have great color. A pleasure to use. Can't beat it for the price.

Great IPS monitor for the price. Easy set up and good features. Only lost a little because of the stability of the support arm.

This is my second 2713HM and its fantastic.

I just ordered my second 2713HM. My first I run on my Macbook Pro for Pro Tools, Photoshop and general day today stuff. I also work from home so I just ordered my second to link to my work setup for more space. This is replacing my trusty EIZO L767 which has been fantastic as well but the 1280x1200 is just not ideal anymore. My work laptop supports the full resolution via display port so there I go. When I am tracking and not working or doing Photoshop I can also link it to my mac as a second monitor either directly nor via my Belkin thunderbolt dock. Works flawlessly with both PC and mac. As far as display quality, it was shocking how good it was when I got my first. Everything is drop dead gorgeous with deep rich colors and blacks and fantastic clarity. I bought my last for around 650 so the price drop is great. I got my Eizo 11 years ago for almost 1000 so this is great. I also love the usb3 ports super convenient but I wish all 4 were on the side. 2 are and the other two are where the cables are and its a bit cluttered but not a big deal. Just plug the stuff you never swap there. Over all this is probably the best monitor out there and for the price of the apple dated monitor you can almost get two of these. The glossy display of the apple would drive me crazy but not a problem with this. Its sunny and a window next to me as I type and no noticeable reflection to annoy ya. I say buy these over the apple cinema displays any day of the year. There are enough thunderbolt docks and hubs to make that a better more viable solution. Cheers!

    Outstanding Monitor !

I have had this monitor for a few months now and I am very happy with my choice. I researched long and hard on the benefits of one large monitor vrs two smaller monitors as well as the research of the monitor specifications and user experience with different resolutions and brands. I came to the conclusion that 4k technology was not quite ready yet due to its current screen technology of stitching two 1080p displays together to make one display and also the lack of proper connection options. The current implementation of HDMI is only capable of 30hz and it takes some serious graphics card horsepower to push a decent frame rate at 4k. Even though display port connectors are a good option that can do 60hz I want a proper one screen 4k monitor with no trickery or haphazard implementations just to get functionality. I was coming from 1680x1024 LG wtq bf 22" monitor which is a great display in and of it self. My goal was to be able to look at two web pages at the same time to compare things side by side and other multitasking functions. Two monitors are great for this but then you should also consider what is best for watching videos and playing games. Which leads me two the Dell 27" 2560x1440 monitor. Being used to my tablet and smartphone displays I wanted to go higher resolution with my pc monitor and while 4k would have been nice the cost of one and the proper graphics card are not so nice. When I found out this monitor had Dells display manager software I decided to give it a try. My reasoning was that one big screen is better for games and video and if the display manager software worked properly then I could have the best of both worlds. When I first got my Dell U2713HM I was using it with my old HPa6120n computer with an intel core 2 duo e4400 and a Nvidea Gforce 210 graphics card and 4gigs of ram. While things looked good Dells display manager did not work very well with that computer. My computer being 7 years old I decided to build a new one. The new one has the core i5 4570, Samsung 840 Evo ssd, AMD Radeon R7 260x graphics card and 16gigs of Corsair Vengance 1600 ram. Now for some reason the display manager software works perfect and of course all of my pre set to load web pages on Chrome now open up almost instantly where as they used to just spin forever. When I first got my new Dell display I tested it for backlight bleeding and dead pixels and it was perfect despite it being a A00 manufactured in Dec.2013 the revision many have complained about having issues with. I wonder about the significance of the revision numbers since others have seen A01 and A02 models and the fact mine was made in Dec. 2013 yet still a A00. I have since tested it a couple of more times for backlight bleeding and dead pixels and it is still perfect. All of the properties you want to see in a great monitor are found in this display from great colors and sharp text to screen brightness and clarity I have not found anything to complain about and I am picky. I have the Kindle fire hd with a 8.9" 1900x1200 screen and the Galaxy Note 3 with a 5,7" 1920x1080 display so I know what it is like to use high resolutiuon screens. Even after using those two items everyday at work I look forward to getting home and using my U2713hm 27" 2560x1440 display and it still looks great in comparison. What does not look good anymore however is a 1080p computer monitor. My wife has a Samsung syncmaster that used to look good to me but now it looks all pixelated after getting use to my Dell. To anyone on the fence about this display I would not balk at recommending it. When web browsing on some websites certain icons and low resolution pictures look somewhat blurry if you zoom in a lot. However, that issue will soon be a thing of the past because this summer a new technology will begin being implemented in to websites to fix the issue. Even so it really does not bother me anymore. The same websites and images do the same thing on my phone and tablet just on a smaller less noticeable scale. For instance zoom in on the Amazon logo with your smartphone and you will see what I mean. With 4k on its way to mainstream in the future look forward to everything looking fantastic and high resolution 4k monitors costing what 1080p displays do today !

First I will say: Best Buy, you are winning me back as a customer, the deal on got on this monitor was insane along with very fast shipping A+ Pro's: - Bright crisp display with excellent color saturation - Excellent On Screen Controls to configure picture to your liking - Text quality is excellent, even in the smallest fonts, was really pleasantly surprised - Solid Stand; tilt, swivel, Height, orientation adjustments - Really appreciate the USB 3.0 Hub - Plenty of inputs: (Display Port, DVD-D, HDMI, VGA# #Note that you can only use maximum resolution on either Display port or DVI-D) - Dell 3 year premium panel warranty Con’s - Rather utilitarian looks, basic with button controls for adjustments, nothing fancy, but I like it - Does not auto orientate when moving from landscape to page mode - Does suffer from IPS Glare which is more noticeable in dark rooms, but effect was minimal Overall I am 100% Satisfied with my purchase, but be warned this was my second panel purchased as the first, that I bought from Dell, had bad LED Bleed in the bottom right corner. The unit I received from Best Buy today is perfect. It worked out for the best as I paid significantly less. Highly recommend!

The resolution you need for a 27" screen

I bought this to use with my late 2013 13" MacBookPro Retina. Rather than spend the extra $500 for the 15" MBP, I spent $700 (with a tripod floor stand) for a 2713HM and went with the easier to carry 13". I am sure glad I did. Note: I was only able to get 2560 x 1440 resolution using a mini display port to display port cable. HDMI and VGA only took me to 1900 which was noticeably fuzzy. I didn't try DVI, which I understand, doesn't do it either. I am able to display a full page word document in the left 40% of the screen and two browser windows arranged upper and lower, on the right. I can also display a large spreadsheet in a window and still have room for email or a video. It looks amazing and I can work for hours without fatigue.
