I am happy with this purchase. It has the right size and meets my expectation, although it doesn't come with the the top level specs.

This is not a high-end product, but for the price range that it is competing in, the Vostro 14 is one of the best choices for small businesses. The Vostro line is targeted towards businesses, versus the Inspiron line, which is targeted towards direct consumers. Both share many similar features and design. However, the Vostro is better built and is more robust. It does its job without any frills or fanfare. The new Vostro 14 laptop design is the same size as previous versions of 13.3 inch laptops due to the double side narrow bezels. Adding to that, the Vostro 14 is also lighter than previous versions of 13.3 inch laptops, weighing less than 3.5 lbs. The battery life is adequate and should be better, especially for a business laptop where mobility is an important requirement. Overall, the Vostro 14 (5481 model) is a great value!

I have a small business and I bought the Vostro 5402 because of the price/value. But it didn't turn out as I expected.
First the good parts. The laptop has a fingerprint login which works well. The screen is bright and clear. I really like Dell Mobile Connect, which let's me get text messages and incoming calls on my laptop when my iPhone is nearby. I easily connect to Wifi and all my business apps run well (they are all cloud-based and I run them in Chrome). So the laptop basically gets the job done. Battery life is about 6 hours when I'm on Wifi and the laptop is connected to my nearby iPhone.
Now the parts I don't like. First, the docking station WILL NOT charge the laptop battery. This totally shocked me. So when I'm at my desk I plug in the USB C port to get my dual monitors to work but I have to plug in the proprietary power cord to charge the battery. I'm accustomed to having a single cable that does everything. Next is the power-on experience. It's flaky at best. About one in three times I open the lid and put my finger on the reader button and nothing happens. I have to open and close the lid and tap the space bar multiple times to get it to come on. I'm used to a power button and can't find one on this laptop.
If I could I would return this laptop and get something else. I would not recommend it.
