My specs: Dell XPS 9570 15.6" FHD i7-8750H 16GB RAM 512GB SSD GeForce GTX 1050Ti When shopping for a laptop I wanted top of the specs with the intention of long term ownership, contenders for this where the Microsoft Surface Laptop, Lenovo Yoga line and the Dell XPS. After checking many reviews the Dell has the edge with being upgradable with storage , ram, battery and even wifi card, which is major factor it you want it long term. Another thing I like was the Dell support, so pulled the trigger on the XPS and overall glad I did with a few caveats. The XPS has a great keyboard, touchpad and overall build quality, the 1080 display is good as well, what you should expect for $1000+ laptop, but you should not expect a little screen bleed on lower left side of the screen. Not a deal breaker for me and does not effect productivity since only notice with a black background (booting up), still though, the XPS line has a nickname of being a MacBook Pro killer so in my opinion a MacBook Pro killer should be perfect even cosmetically. With all that said, still very much love my unit that complies many pages of code and does video edits with ease, other issues that seem to be on tech blogs and YouTube reviews regarding CPU overheating I don't seem to have that problem, I do know some heat issues were addressed with last BIOS update. I did run into an issues when doing a clean install of Windows that affected Intel graphics drivers and cause issues with the touchpad drivers as well (purely my fault) that got fixed by resetting Windows to factory and just let the Dell driver software update proper compatible drivers. Speaking of make sure you update Support Assist application or just use Dell Update or even just update drivers via the the website because those applications are very buggy out the box. Gaming is possible but limited, games like Surviving Mars, City Skylines, Sims 3/4 run perfect on high but newer AAA tiles will have to be played in med or low settings. Older ones like Doom 3, CS GO run fine. In a nutshell having such a system that has bang for the buck, fast, dependable, good battery life around 12 hours is a blessing even with the minor flaws :)

Pleasant and easy to use. light laptop. Excellent performance for my basic needs such e-mail, word, video watching (not editing), web browsing, etc. Only drawback - it has only one USB port, and if need more USB connection you should have a docking station

Bought this for my daughter in college. She needed a faster computer for her architecture classes. This was more than I wanted to spend but she says it works so much better than her MacBook.

tl;dr : This is a great laptop with so many great qualities and features that will make you forget about the occasional issue. most people online agree that the XPS line of machines has reigned supreme since they first debuted. I read that the XPS 15 9570 was a great machine overall with a sturdy and sleek build; This is absolutely true. The only thing that worried me were rumors of overheating and along with that a loud fan that tends to "throttle". In my case, the fan only does this when the machine is plugged in to the charger. unplugged, the fans rarely turn on at all. The battery lasts me a solid 5-6 hours of active working/browsing and probably 3 hours of gaming so I only have to charge it at night. this is why i left my rating at 5 stars. I would also not recommend the 4K screen because of the severe decrease in battery life that comes with it as well as paying $400 extra. go in a store so you can look at the 1080P and 4K side by side and you will soon realize it isnt worth it.
