I bought this guy in December and still enjoy opening it up and using it. Mixed use between typing documents, 3d rendering for 3d printing and light gaming. Keyboard/trackpad are the best I’ve ever used, even better than my age thinkpad. Screen is crisp, no burn in w/ it being OLED. Camera is ok but I use an external 4k Logitech. Microsoft Surface studio laptop has a better camera but the 3050 in that bogs down quickly. Speakers a nice, crisp and sound is rich. Love, love, love USB-C charging and sometimes use a smaller charger when I’m mobile. Even though it’s almost 5lbs it feels kinda light. IDK. The fan is silent when using office apps and browsing. And even when I’m 3d rendering or gaming, the fan noise is increased but not overbearing. Compared to my legion 5 pro 3060, it’s much quieter and lighter. I play battle simulators, rocket league, Xbox cloud and star wars squadrons. My 3d apps are quite graphics intensive, Autodesk, Meshmixer and Zbrush. The 3060 is fantastic and I can’t really tell the difference between my larger watt 3060 in the legion 5 pro. Both get hot under heavy use.
Note: I went through return process a few times w/ Best Buy on OTHER brand laptops. This one was a keeper. It still performs flawlessly no matter what I put it through! But do get an ext warranty for the fact that QA can skip over problematic laptops. And even though the newer 12th gen i7 is out, this is future proof till at least when ext warranty ends.

Needed speed and performance and this did it! I love this laptop. I need 17" for work and the quality is spot on. It does its updates for Dell and for Microsoft very smoothly without much interruption. Was so easy to install and configure just took a few minutes. Enjoying this laptop very much.
[Just FYI for people buying most new laptops running Windows 11 - its great but your ports are the new USB-C - so I had to buy a hub for ease of use for older peripherals after the fact.]

Beautiful machine and 4k graphics display. Great performance as a desktop replacement. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 displays Forza 5 Horizon at Ultra graphics setting and other games as well. Battery life is poor. When using CPUs/GPU at high levels, battery will drain in 2 hours. Out of the box, even plugged in, at high CPU/GPU levels it would completely drain the battery in under 3 hours and shutdown! This last issue can be fixed if you update the Dell XPS 17 9710 BIOS driver to v1.5.3 (released Nov 26, 2021) or later and go into the My Dell > Power Manger utility and set Charging Mode to Adaptive. That solved the problem and battery stays at 100% when running at high CPU/GPU levels and plugged in.

Powerful Device, massive storage capacity, beautiful display, no issues so far, camera resolution could be better for video conference. Still getting used to windows 11 though.

Amazing screen and video quality

The screen is gorgeous in 4k. I mainly got this for video editing purposes and it does not disappoint. No buffering or lag in any video format that i was using including 4k videos. The computer processor is extremely fast. Video game performance is good i tested playing gears of war 5 on it. I was able to play in 2560x1440 above 60fps without any issues. I will mention the laptop did get rather hot underneath while gaming after 35 minutes. This laptop is best for video editing but it can handle gaming. The laptop is very thin and feels more like a 15.6 inch laptop. I can fit this in a suitcase or book bag if needed. I didn't have any issues with the trackpad its large but not a issue. Keyboard feels nice and is easy to type with spreaded keyboarding. The screen quality looks like an OLED display. Very rich colors and detail on all applications. Best laptop i ever own. You won't regret it.
