Good pounding Power, (745Watts) the sound just jumps out at you! Great value per watt!! easy set up up, w/ hdmis, coax, optical's, rca,s , 2 sub out, etc. Not cluttered with a bunch of options you don't need or wont use, Simple, elegant, Power, Great Brand and easily one of the most competitively priced units available.

We bought this as an open box item that didn't come with the accessories. We were able to use an old lg phone with an IR blaster on it to get the receiver setup and working with the new tv we just bought as well. So far it's been a decent receiver that has more than enough power to run a full 5.1 setup pretty flawlessly. Towers in the front and a large center channel with 2 bookshelf sized speakers in the rear. Added a 15" Dayton sub and this setup works really well.

I bought this AVR for a strange reason: I was looking for an amp in this price range that could accept optical audio inputs. This has two optical and a coax, which each are assignable to one of six inputs. I do not plan to use this for video (maybe in the future) but for NAD C538 CD audio via coax and my two Macs (USB->optical adaptors).
I am also able to use a pair of the analog RCA audio inputs for the audio from an AirportExpress used as an Airplay receiver. I also picked up some RCA->HDMI adaptors, but I haven't used them yet.
So I'm very happy with what I can do with audio.
The sound is great through my smallish JBL Control 1's and a fairly conventional Pioneer subwoofer. I don't use the surround or center. This is actually the first receiver I've used with a setup mic situation and I have no doubt it really helped.

Great receiver better than my Sony 7.2 channel it died after 2 months so I decided to give Denon a shot since my family all owns Denon receivers I’m glad I happily made the switch to Denon and don’t have to haste with Sony anymore. I’ve been audiophile for 25 years. I own a $4000 denon flag ship receiver and for 300 bucks this unit is outstanding...One tip if you’re listening to Dolby Digital movies you need to turn the bass down to -5 on the tone control otherwise the loud scenes will be overwhelming

I got this one after returning the Sony STRDH590 which was a piece of junk. I like how this one tells you which audio format you are using like Dolby Digital Dolby Pro Logic etc etc on the LCD screen. But what was a huge plus for me was that it comes with two optical ports. Now I can connect my cd player into it using that hook up. I dont like having to use the HDMI for that cause then you need to keep the tv on the whole time. The set up was fast and very simple. It has speaker volume levels which is another thing the Sony didn't have. Two rca hook ups for subwoofers. The sound is absolutely awesome. I just wish it did not use such high numbers for louder volume. On screen it says 60 when I put it up high. I guess I'm just use to my old receiver using single digits. It has just the right amount HDMI slots you will need. If you are on a budget and can't afford a real high end receiver get this one. Its worth it.
