I am very impressed. All the featuees i need or would want in an affordable package. Though on paper a little underpowered in reality having all channels discrete make it unlikely i need more for a while to come. Match these with my pairs of Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-280F and the sound is neutral and balanced. Ordering up a pair of RSL speedwoofers to match with this. I think that will be a great match for this receiver as it can do both subwoofers.

It appears that my receiver doesn’t support my 4 ceilings speakers. My prior Denon supported 8 speakers in my prior home

Perfect AVR for most everyone. I did have some HDMI 2.1 issues with 8k enhanced content. Other than that it's perfect.

First, we would like to thank you for your purchase and for taking the time to leave us your feedback. EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) communication errors may happen between your sources, TV, and receiver. Ensure all sources in the chain have the HDMI control option activated, including the receiver. There also may be video-out settings within the receiver we can try (i/p scaler, for example). Please get in touch with our Denon Support team for further assistance. We look forward to speaking with you. https://www.denon.com/en-us/support/contact-us.html

A few issues I’ve had:
- occasionally the screen suddenly goes fuzzy and I need to power cycle the device
- inability to switch inputs as a result of a complete lockup that has at times required me to unplug the receiver
- HDMI-CEC devices ping-ponging between each other endlessly, even though only one device is powered on (the most annoying of the issues)
- sometimes the center channel goes quiet and I have to power cycle the receiver in order to correct this
I had a Denon receiver before this that also had center channel issues, so that may be on my end somehow (I’ve tried changing the speaker cable but that didn’t alleviate the issue of a quiet center channel). My previous Denon was a lot more solid performance wise.
I really appreciate this receiver’s advanced features like 120hz HDR 4K output, but the bugs are driving me crazy and it is pretty disappointing. Hoping this is software-related and not hardware-related.

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We sincerely apologize for the problems you've been facing with your receiver. As you mentioned, It would be infrequent for two receivers to have center channel output issues. You may want to consider experimenting with another center channel speaker. Regarding the HDMI-CEC concern, assigned inputs and CEC commands may conflict with one another. Please confirm your assigned inputs. Would not sync with Bluetooth. Called Denon, tech support attempted to walk thru steps, tried multiple Apple products to pair with receiver to no avail. Referred back to Best Buy for exchange as I did not purchase from a Denon partner. Anyhow, Best Buy Geek tech and I tried some field fixes, still not able to sync. Best Buy is exchanging and re-wiring speakers. We will see come this Saturday.

I've owned 4 Onkyo receivers over the last 15 years. Before purchasing this Denon I purchased the Onkyo TX-NR6100 and it was by far the worst ever. I played with it adjusting everything to make it come close sounding to my last Onkyo. It sounded so bland and powerless. I do 5.2.2 set up and even with 2 subs it made John Wick sound like an episode of Mr Rogers Neighborhood. Normally the bass would rumble to the neighbors house and now it would barely come through. I decided to start from scratch, rewire, and do setup again. Same thing and gave up after a week of frustration.
After a ton of research (which is very hard to come by, recommend Forums versus online reviews as they don't seem to legit) I was between this Denon and a Yamaha and ended up going with the Denon AVR-X1700H it had less watts than the Onkyo and previous Onkyos I had but it seemed like the safest bet as far as future proofing for the next 4 or 5 years.
Highly recommend, very easy (although primitive) set up screen. Great and accurate Audyssey set up, I barely had to adjust settings. Now for the same test John Wick. Night and day for sure, my Atmos speakers worked better than ever, bullet casings falling every where around me, the subs were on point as well.

I liked this receiver quite a bit. The sound quality was very good for both music and home theater and the price, for what it gives you, was very good. Had I not had a problem in selecting the stereo mode to listen to music, I would have kept it. The problem was, if I selected the "Stereo" mode to listen to music, it would only play through my left and right speakers and not my subwoofer. According to the user manual, it should play both left and right speakers as well as subwoofers when the stereo mode is selected. I tried to figure it out myself and called Denon technical support for assistance also. They felt as though the unit was defective and told me to return it. after that experience, I decided not to buy the same model again and I'm now in the process of looking for a new av receiver from a different company.

Hello, sorry to learn the receiver was returned. This is possible to have the subwoofer active while in stereo mode. 2.1. The subwoofer will always be active, with the front speakers set to small. With the front speakers set to Large, the Bass must be set to LFE + MAIN for the subwoofer to be active in stereo. We hope that you give us another chance in the near future. https://support.denon.com/

It appears to be better than other amps at this price range. The set-up was somewhat simple. However, with an older TV with limited HDMI ports, it was with a lot experimenting. The set up needs to be performed through the TV. Downloding the pdf Manuel was beneficial. I was told that with a newer TV the set-up would have easier. I was concerned about the 80w per channel, since my older amp was producing 120w per channel. No noticable difference with that issue. The division of surround sound channels are much better than the older amp. Overall, I'm pleased with the ease of operations of the amp and remote. Sound quality is excellent and you can't beat the price! It's a DENON!

I bought this due to all other receivers in the price range being sold out completely during the Black Friday week. This just appeared and I bought it blindly.
I’m happy I did. Dolby Atmos sounds Amazing and Dolby Digital sounds great. I was on the fence because it only advertises it to work with 4K at 120 Hz and 8k pass through.
I have a 60 Hz 4K Sony 750H 75 Inch TV and it works perfect with no complications! So if you have a 4K 60 Hz tv and am thinking about upgrading in the future to 4K 120 hz or 8k , this is a great Receiver for you.
Easy setup, music services simple to use but will have to use the app HEOS . So many choices to use, seriously! AVR remote is the app to control the receiver from your phone which is nice.
Very clear and simple setup assistance through the Denon Receiver guide on the tv if you never have set up a receiver before.
I would recommended it as a mid grade receiver due to cost and options provided.

I got the Denon -AVR-X1700H (80W X7) 7.2-CH HDR at Best Buy, it was the most reasonable priced 7.2 surround sound receiver. it has 6 HDMI inputs and one HDMI output. so much easier to install than my old Onkyo receiver that had no HDMI inputs. I use one HDMI input for my DIRECTV, One for my DVD player and one for my Firestick. the one HDMI out goes to my TV. I was able to get rid of a bunch of cords I was using for Audio. So much cleaner! It runs my surround sound and is much more balanced sound to all speakers, than the old Onkyo. New Onkyo receivers were too rich for my blood this time around.

I'm not too tech savvy and first time adding an AVR to my TV. So far, it gives everything I need, and user manual was fairly easy to follow. Synched the remote to TV remote, added bluetooth to stream music from my phone. Good power to the stereo speakers. I also had to call Denon's customer service to walk me through some things, and it was pretty quick to get to an agent, and they were very helpful.
