    Truly a Luxury Audio Experience

Sound bars are usually a good way to boost your TV’s bland, built-in speakers. I never really thought it would have me hearing sounds I never knew were in the shows we watch or make look out the window when a movie has thunder in the background. Truly delivers a premium experience to your ears. You’ll want to make sure your tv has ARC or eARC HDMI port. This allows you to connect the soundbar via HDMI and allow other HDMI devices to play audio through the soundbar. Also, setup uses an Android or iOS app, so a smartphone or tablet is needed for optimal setup. You can also connect with the included optical cable, but HDMI ARC seems to be the preferred method. You get (almost) everything you need in the box. More on that in a bit. There is a full-size cardboard cutout with mounting position and wall anchor cutout. Along with the soundbar, they include an HDMI and optical cable, some spacers for wall mounting, rubber feet to stick to the back, and obviously a power cable. One thing you’ll find missing is wall mounting anchors and screws as well as a remote. A few screws and wall anchors seem like a low expense addition to make sure you have everything you need for that clean wall mount look. I am, however, forgiving of the remote since my remotes easily control the volume of the soundbar as well as the app being very intuitive. I’d probably lose it anyways. Following the included manual, it was easy to get it on the wall and setup for first use. I was puzzled with the preferred orientation as it leaves the cutout for I/O on the bottom where soundbars are usually mounted below the TV. The work around it seems is you can run them underneath as the mounting spacers leave some room for the cables. I used Bluetooth and WiFi to get the soundbar setup and connected to the app. As with most connected devices, I immediately checked to see if there were any firmware updates and installed them. It did so conveniently quick. Built in microphones will help with a sound calibration that helps optimize the sound based on the acoustics of the room your setup in. After installation I had to let my wife get back to her show before I could test a range of noises and immediately you could tell the difference. Even in a food competition show, I was hearing the people more clearly, picking up on some of the shows background tones and low suspenseful rumbles when the show wanted to emphasize the drama. It was clear my sound experience wasn’t as good as it could be. So a bit later I started running it through its paces like I do with any new sound device. Usually, the first is a Dolby Atmos rated video or movie. With Atmos 5.1.2 surround sound, you can hear the channels at play. The room fills with sound as you hear the blades of a helicopter or the low rumble of a jet passing overhead. The bass at the right pitch had things rattling on my entry-way table that I didn’t know would rattle. The best way to describe it is luxury sound. One of my favorite things to listen to is thunderstorms. You get the soothing static sound of the rain, the low rumble of thunder from far away and can hear it as it approaches. Even more aggressive thunder, that sharp cracking of intense lighting, followed by low rumbles. For me this is one of the most natural sounds you can replicate on an audio device. It just fills the room and surrounds you. The app that you can download will allow you full control over the soundbar. Aside from adjusting volume, you can change various settings to adjust the sound. There’s a setting for bass reduction to tone down some of low bass sounds, room calibration which uses built in microphones to calibrate room sound. You can also turn off the microphones if your privacy conscious. If you want certain sound profiles for per source settings, you can change that too. I do occasionally run into an issue where my app doesn’t connect automatically. However, I believe this could be an issue with my WiFi network settings where it randomizes MAC addresses. Another small detail I noticed was the LED lights turn off when you’re not tapping the buttons, so they don’t distract from whatever your watching. There isn’t anything not to like about Devialet’s Diode soundbar. Anything I could say would be nitpicking. I really enjoy the unique design and high build quality. If I was going to knock some points off it would be the lack of a remote, whether I use it or not, the option would be nice. As well as including drywall anchors for wall mounting but I can understand wanting to avoid the liability of doing so. In closing this is an absolute amazing sound bar. They truly had the customer in mind and pulled out all the stops to delivery luxury sound for the modern home.

    THE ALL-IN-ONE SURROUND SOUNDBAR!!!

The Dione is a 5.1.2 channel Dolby Atmos soundbar by Devialet. This soundbar contains 17 total drivers along with 950 watts of amplification, which means this soundbar is your all-in-one solution for that near perfect home theater system. The Dione is an amazing soundbar that looks great, feels solid and sounds amazing. So, let’s go over the setup, and the PROS and CONS of the new Dione Soundbar by Devialet. Unboxing and Setup: The Dione Soundbar comes nicely packaged along with everything you will need to set up the soundbar including with the wall mount installation kit. In the box you will receive the Power cable, HDMI, and an optical cable. You will also need to download the “Devialet” application to complete the setup process. Unfortunately, this soundbar does not come with a remote control, so you will need the application to control the soundbar remotely. The application will guide you through the rest of the setup process including setting up the Bluetooth connection, connecting to WIFI and completing the software update. The Dione has 4 ports which are Power, 1 HDMI, 1 Optical and 1 ethernet connection. The soundbar measures about 47.24W X 6.5D X 3.5H and weighs about 26.5lbs. Sound Quality: As far as sound quality is concerned, all I have to say is that this is one amazing soundbar. There are 17 drivers and 8 of which are woofers, meaning that you do not need anything for that home theater experience. Whether it’s watching movies or listening to your favorite tunes, everything just sounds exceptional and provides for a fully immersive audio experience with a maximum sound of over a100 decibels. There are no equalizer settings on the Dione, but honestly, I personally did not feel the need to change or adjust the settings and everything was on point. The only thing Devialet allows you to change is to reduce the bass, but I prefer bass in my music and movies, so I have not touched that setting either and the that bass was perfect. To take full advantage of the 5.1.2 surround sound system, you need to perform a room calibration using the app and your phone and it took less than a minute to complete. The sphere on the soundbar can also be adjusted as well based on your configuration. PROS: • SOUND QUALITY • BUILD QUALITY • AMAZING BASS • AESTHETICALLY PLEASEING • EASY TO SETUP AND USE • 17 DRIVERS AND 950 WATTS OF AMPLIFICATION • WIFI AND BLUETOOTH CONNECTION CONS: • NO REMOTE CONTROL – WILL HAVE TO USE YOUR PHONE AND APP • LIMITED INPUT CONNECTIONS Overall, I am very pleased with the Dione by Devialet. It is a beautiful soundbar that also feels and most importantly sounds just amazing. Even though there are a couple things that I was not pleased with, but not enough to not recommend the Dione. The Dione is truly an experience on its own and something that you would need to test out for yourself.

I’ve had more misses than hits when trying new sound bars, so I was looking forward to some redemption from the Devialet Dione. The Dione arrived safely packed inside sturdy, multi-layered protective packaging and all pieces were conveniently labeled and separated into individual boxes. It’s always a good start when even unboxing has a high-end feel. Devialet gets an A+ for meticulous packaging and presentation. The Dione is noticeably larger than most average sound bars in width, depth, and height. The sound bar can be positioned horizontally on a suitable surface, or it can be wall mounted. The center-channel orb can rotate to accommodate the positioning of the sound bar. The Dione ships with an optical cable, HDMI cable and power cord. No physical remote is included. Users are instead required to download the Devialet app to complete setup. The Devialet app is user friendly and device pairing, and setup was easy and straightforward thanks to the intuitive interface. After I created a new Devialet account, the app had no problem finding the Dione and adding it to the account. It also automatically configured wi-fi in the Dione without requiring me to enter the passphrase. The app doesn’t have a ton of usefulness beyond setup other than basic management tasks. These task include firmware updates, toggling bass reduction, performing room sound calibration, toggling the mic on/off, and setting the Dione position (wall mount, countertop, etc.). The Dione is also heavier than the average sound bar and the inputs for sound and power are inside a cavity on the rear that can be a little hard to reach when the sound bar is positioned horizontally. Performance wise, the Dione sounds excellent, as I expected. It has a clear, mostly neutral sound profile with strong but not overwhelming bass. I performed the recommended sound calibration first, which took less than 30 seconds through the app and doesn’t require a separate calibration mic. I then spent the next few days extensively testing the Dione with my cable TV service, a dedicated streaming box, streaming video directly through the television apps, and streaming music from my phone. The 17 drivers provide rich, room filling surround sound and the 8 driver driven bass is deep and resonating, particularly during louder action-packed scenes. The sound bar gets quite loud at higher volumes and can easily fill a large room with rich sound. The Dione is fantastic for watching video content, both on cable and streaming. The bass sounds great for a sound bar although it lacks the room vibrating oomph factor of a large, decent quality, dedicated subwoofer being driven by a capable separate amplifier. Video playback is excellent; however, music playback is disappointing. Higher frequencies seem lackluster and flat when streaming music via airplay to the sound bar. I streamed music from music apps as well as directly from uncompressed music files on my phone, but the sound was too flat and unremarkable for my tastes. An in-app EQ, more fine-tuning control over sound profiles, or even a few additional sound profiles focused on music may improve music playback quality, but the current default music sound profile is disappointing. The Dione feels better suited for home theater video sound and gaming than for playing music. The Dione feels like a well-constructed, high quality sound bar but I did experience one slight issue that so far has only occurred once but I’m keeping my eye on it. The status LEDs on the top went completely dark, the touch sensitive hardware buttons became unresponsive, the sound bar disconnected from the television, and the HDMI status showed as disconnected in the app. I initially tried to restore the sound bar connectivity through the app and hardware buttons, but sound would only play through the TV speakers. I finally got the sound bar back online after power-cycling via unplugging the power cord. I’ve double and triple checked my HDMI, ARC, eARC and other applicable settings on the TV and the few settings available within the Devialet app. I also verified all cables are tightly secured on both the Dione and the television. The sound bar is connected to a dedicated eARC port on a high-end 65-inch OLED television using the HDMI cable that shipped with the Dione. Not sure what caused the random disconnect, but it has only occurred once. Hopefully, it was just a one-time hiccup. I’m slightly torn on my overall opinion of the Dione. It is an excellent choice for minimalists, and it sounds terrific as a standalone device. It’s a solid choice if a traditional multi-speaker surround sound system or high-end sound bar with separate satellites and dedicated subwoofer are not desired or are out of the question due to space or other restrictions. It is the best sounding standalone sound bar that I have heard to date, narrowly beating out my now second favorite sound bar made by another high-end audio brand. While the Dione could absolutely replace most mainstream sound bars, including those with separate, small, dedicated subwoofers, the choice becomes a little harder if deciding between it and a high quality traditional multi-speaker surround system with separate components being driven by a high-quality amplifier. If I watch and compare the same action movie through the Dione and through my traditional high-end 5.1 system, the level of immersion is much better with the larger system. Music also sounds much better on my traditional system. However, I’m assuming anyone looking for a high-end soundbar like the Devialet Dione has likely ruled out a traditional setup, so I won’t waste any more time comparing the differences. One area where the Dione absolutely shines and gives any system a strong run for the money is dialogue. Spoken dialogue sounds fantastic and the Dione is an excellent sound bar for those who frequently watch television at lower volumes or watch a lot of dialogue heavy programming. Voices are clear and easily decipherable, even at lower volume levels.

I was looking to upgrade my outdated 10-year-old floor standing sound system for a while and decided to buy premium soundbar with dolby atmos support. I got Devialet - Dione Dolby Atmos Soundbar - Dark Grey. It came with Devialet - Dione soundbar, one High Speed HDMI Cable (supported by Dolby Atmos), one TOSLINK Optical cable, Power Cable, Documentation, Wall Mount Guide and Accessories. Setup is quick and easy. I have connected the power card on the soundbar and downloaded the Devialet app from app store on my iPhone. After completing the registration with email, it automatically recognized the soundbar. I have followed the steps to configure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and completed the setup without any issues. There was latest firmware available and installed the firmware within few minutes. From connectivity standpoint, this sound bar has one HDMI input, Ethernet port and optical port. The build quality is great and this soundbar weighing around 26 lbs. It came with mounting hardware in case if anyone wanted to mount on the wall. I have used my media center to place the soundbar. There is no remote came with this soundbar and all configurations can be done in phone app including sound adjustment. In the app, it is easy set default settings per source like Movie, Music and Spatial. There is an option for room calibration, and it took less than a minute to complete the room calibration. There is a toggle option for bass reducer mode. Under Advanced settings, there is an option for Dione position with Automatic, Shelf and Wall-mounted options. LED status has Auto, Always on and Always off options. Under Tips section, there are tips for Audio modes, User Interface, Central sphere orientation, Room calibration and Cables & connectivity. Under Information, serial number and firmware version information are available. I have connected the soundbar with HDMI eARC input as most of the devices like Apple TV, Shied Pro and XBOX X directly connected to TV inputs. I have played few movies from Netflix and Prime with Atmos sound and blown away with sound quality from this soundbar. The sound is crystal clear and filled the room with surround sound. I played music via Bluetooth from Spotify and YouTube Music, and it automatically switch to music mode. The songs from YouTube or Spotify sounded so good from this quality soundbar. With the proprietary SPACE technology, it upscales any stereo-encoded 2.0 signal into 5.1.2. With Devialet's Advanced Dimensional Experience patent (ADE) combines innovative speaker placement with advanced digital filters to deliver superior sound restitution all around. With 17x Devialet custom neodymium drivers, 9x Full-range aluminum drivers 8x Aluminum long-throw subwoofers, the sound quality is outstanding for movies and music. It comes with 2-year manufacturer warranty. Devialet - Dione is one of the best soundbar with Atmos sound.

I have owned this Soundbar for 11 months and I feel I know enough about the product to give a full and honest review. Devialet claims this soundbar doesn't need a subwoofer like other soundbars do. They were right! The Dione delivers the goods when it comes to sound. The sound is loud, crisp and the bass is awesome! Voices are clearly heard and the atmospheric music doesn't interfere at all. The setup was also easy and I get compliments all the time on how the product looks. If you are familiar with Devialet, nobody has cooler looking speakers than they do. Because you don't need a subwoofer, it will clear up some space in your home entertainment setup. Now here comes the bad news. When I purchased this it cost $2400. That's on the high end of any soundbar out there. It DOES NOT come with a remote control. Luckily for me, I have the remote due to the fact that I own a pair of Devialet Phantom Reactor speakers. If you don't buy the remote, which is another $150, you must use the Devialet app. Normally this would not be an issue but the app sometimes doesn't see the soundbar. In this case you have to close the app, restart the soundbar and try to connect again. Doesn't happen too often but enough to be annoying. Especially considering the price of this product. The other thing that is truly astounding is that the soundbar cannot be powered on using the remote or the app! You must psyhically press the power button yourself in oder to turn this on! In this day and age, can you imagine not being able to power it on using the remote or app! Totally unacceptable! You can however power it off but only from the app or touching the power button. Again this is unacceptable. Deviate also hasn't provided a single software update for this product. I was hoing they would address these issues with an update but won't hold my breath anymore. So the final question is this product worth the money? I would say no. It sounds great but there are other soundbars that cost less and do more. Do your research before you buy anything. As for he sound, this soundbar delivers the goods but leaves a lot of unanswered questions.

I’d consider myself an audiophile and I have wanted a Devialet speaker for as long as I can remember. My interest was first piqued by the approach Devialet takes in the design of their speakers. The Dione (Dee-oh-n) is a great example of their commitment to designing something that gives you powerful sound (Dolby Digital) and it can fill any room! I ultimately chose my bedroom as the place for my speaker. It sits beautifully on the wall, the mounting was super easy, it comes with a guide, and there are these neat little bolts you use with a screw to securely mount the speaker. You’ll get the mounting equipment, the HDMI Arc cable, power cable, and speaker. There isn’t a remote, so you’ll need to download the application when you open it. The setup from start to finish took me about an hour. I took my time to make sure the spacing and the depth between my tv stand and tv were ideal for me. Using the application is very simple so don’t feel overwhelmed. Devialet made sure to only keep the important parts in the app. So you won’t have all random options that don’t apply to your speaker. The Dione is for me the ultimate soundbar out now that I’ve been able to see at a Best Buy. It is years ahead in technology compared to other sound bars out in the market. This is theatre type of sound! I tested my bar with the new Obi Won show on Disney+! All I can say is “WOW!” When the spaceships fly through the Galaxy the sound in the room feels like you’re out in space in the ship. The lightsaber scenes had me in awe. Of course listening to Darth’s breathing was going to be cool but I didn’t expect what I heard. If you’re a doubter don’t be. Get the Dione, set it up, play a Star Wars film, and get ready to be inspired. Next, I’ll try a horror film but not until it’s day light. Oh, and just for laughs, I Love Lucy on this sound-bar sounds amazing.

Let me start with the good: excellent sound, looks cool. Now for the bad: Buggy software and seeing as it is geared up for use with an app this makes the device all but unusable. After several conversations with various members of Devialet’s tech support (which were to their credit at least fast to respond via email), I was told that it was my set up that was the issue as to why the soundbar would constantly disconnect and have to be factory reset. Consequently the “fix” was to wire it manually to my router… Needless to say, this isn’t really a fix for a wireless sound bar! When I asked for a refund I was told to take it up with Best Buy who took care of me. Software and connection issues appear to be an endemic issue with Devialet, judging by their unofficial forum. If they have a crap about their customers they’d be active on there as well as providing practical customer support rather than blaming your internet provider or router or the weather. I really wanted to love this product and now I am turned off Devialet for life :( Ps - my friend has the same issue with the “wireless” orb speakers too. He has them plugged in via Ethernet. I ended up returning it and buying a sennheiser Amber, which is nearly as nice sounding and looking and so far has been good.

If you’ve ever owned a Devialet product, this soundbar lives up to its name in Premium Audio. Devialet’s main problem has always been with their rechargeable batteries in their Mania speaker and Gemini earbuds. Without any rechargeable battery, I find no flaws in this soundbar. The sound is stunning. The bass is deep and heavy (thanks to the built-in subwoofers), and the 17 drivers beautifully disperse the audio. Aesthetically, the soundbar has a unique design and a luxurious build. This soundbar is best suited for smaller spaces where you don’t want to add extra pieces to your setup. It eliminates the need for a separate subwoofer or smaller speakers in other areas of your space. However, if you have a larger room and want a more customizable setup, there are better options for building a complete setup with multiple pieces and a receiver. If you’re looking for simplicity with the best sound on the market, this is the place to be.

What can I say? This sounds bar is amazing. Please don't listen to reviewers saying the bass is overpowering and you lose details in the mid and high range. I'm an audiophile and I also own much more expensive set up. I can say that it is almost at the same level as my phantoms which cost more than twice as much! Even my family couldn't distribution the two. It is the best all around sound bar without the need of a sub! Bravo Devialet. Magnifique.

I decided to get rid of my surround system and wanted to replace them with one speaker that provided great bass but did not need a separate subwoofer. The Dione has been impressive and I am very happy with the purchase. The sound is truly immersive - the voices are clear and the bass is surprisingly great. The sound really fills the room. I also really like the sleek look and size, it is long but only a few inches tall and not bulky at all (before buying I wasn't sure about the orb, but it's a non-issue and looks fine). It did take some time to properly set up, I have a Sony Z9 and also use a receiver to send all my signals to the TV so I had to play around with the settings on my TV and Receiver. But those issues are with the TV not the soundbar. I ultimately am able to use the Bravia Sync to control the volume on the Dione. I do wish there were more ways to connect. Overall I would highly recommend this soundbar.

The Devialet Dione is a high-end premium soundbar with a total of 17 speakers and weighing 26 lbs. The signature unique design feature, the center orb, acts as the center channel. It pivots to allow you to place the soundbar on either a shelf or mount it to your wall. Around the back are HDMI, optical, ethernet, and power ports. Adding this soundbar to any TV instantly enhances the sound quality significantly. The center channel, or orb, provides great audio clarity for dialog in movies and tv shows. The 950 watts of RMS power can easily overpower a small to midsize room. The bass is impressive considering there is no separate subwoofer, it all comes from 8 woofers within the unit itself. Movies with a Dolby Atmos track sound superb but admittingly will not be as good as a true surround sound system with actual heights speakers placed in the ceiling and behind you. But as a single unit, the Dione is amongst the best of Atmos soundbars, being able to bounce as much sound as it can off your walls to simulate a true Atmos setup, resulting in a satisfying cinematic experience. In addition to Atmos support, there is a feature called SPACE that adds some spatial effects to mono and stereo audio. There is not an included remote, but instead an app that is used for both the setup, such as wifi configuration, and the operation of the soundbar. With the app you can select from three different modes: movie, music, or voice (for things like news and podcasts). You can also setup a Bluetooth connection or use any of the following services that the Dione supports including Airplay, Spotify, UPnP, Deezer, Tidal, along with the European based services Qobux and Audirvana. The sound quality when playing music does not disappoint, and it can get loud. However, note that there are no EQ adjustments available within the app. You can also calibrate the soundbar for the room with its internal mics. I have done this a few times but really cannot tell much difference. I think it would be better if the app were used as the microphone so that the soundbar could adjust based on where the listener is sitting instead. Without a remote you can use the HDMI connection which will power on and control the volume of the soundbar with your TV or streaming box remote. It works well, so that you do not need to use the app to turn on or control the volume as opposed to some older HDMI enabled soundbars that I have owned that had quirks and issues with HDMI-CEC. Some minor downsides are that while it includes a box labeled Wall Mounting Guide, there are no screws or anchors in the box meaning you will need to provide these on your own. The only thing in the box are instructions, some spacers, and rubber pads which will keep the soundbar about a half inch off the wall. Another minor downside is while there is support for Dolby Atmos, there is zero support for DTS:X which is probably not a big deal as it’s not really supported by many streaming services. The only other thing I noticed was when using an older TV without eARC I did not get the benefit of Dolby Atmos or TrueHD which is not supported on the older ARC technology. Therefore, HDMI Passthrough would have been nice for folks who do not have a newer TV but would like the benefits of spatial audio at full resolution. Passthrough would allow the soundbar to connect to the source, such as an Apple TV, decode the high-end audio, then pass the video on to the TV. Pros: Luxurious Design Simulates 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos 8 Woofers, 17 Total aluminum speakers Excellent Sound quality and Bass eARC/ARC or Optical Inputs Ethernet and Wifi Airplay 2/Spotify/UPnP support Cons: Does not come with wall mounting fasteners (screws or anchors) No HDMI Passthrough No DTS:X support Overall - If you cannot do a full home theater 5.1.2 system because of space restrictions or not wanting to deal with wiring this soundbar is the absolute next best thing.

The Devialet Dione Dolby Atmos soundbar is a phenomenal all in one solution for theater type sound if you have the space and the money. The Dione is fairly wide, but can be placed flat on a shelf or mounted upright on a wall. In order to do this is you rotate the center channel ball and flip the soundbar around so that the left becomes right and vice versa. You can then setup the orientation in the Devialet app. The rest of the Dione setup is very simple and only takes a few minutes through the app. At lower volumes it hard to tell just how well this soundbar can sound. In my setup, the Dione soundbar comes alive around 40-50% volume to get that amazing theater sound. Most other soundbars I've tested out usually sound the same at all volumes. While it does have good bass, it requires volume and just doesn't sound quite as good as a dedicated subwoofer, but if your short on space, this is definitely an all in one solution to consider. One minor issue I have been having is that sometimes the soundbar will not turn on with the TV. I must power cycle the soundbar to get sound back. At this price point I expect it to just work. Another issue I have is that you can not customize the sound at all. You can't adjust the center level, or even the bass. I think these are basic things you should have access to. It would also be great to have quick access to Night mode or something like that. There is an option in the app to reduce bass to "smooth" the sound out, but it's not the same. It would also be nice if it came with a remote. Likes: 1.) Phenomenal sound in a single package 2.) Easy to setup 3.) Easy to use app Dislikes: 1.) No remote 2.) No way to customize sound 3.) Pricey

    Soundbar out of this world

You will not regret this bar under your tv, probably one of the most amazing and involving sounds. Easy to install and to setup, just from the moment that you open the box, you see that you are in front of a quality device. Two important items to be sure that this is the right product for you, your TV should have an eARC/ARC HDMi connecting port. While the bar works also with an optical cable, some of the functionalities (like the control with the TV remote) are lost. The second one is to use the app to bring the sound to the next level. Before connecting the bar, I recommend downloading the app, creating your profile and adding the device, and connecting the bar to your phone. Most of the advanced settings are directly in there. Powering the bar and connecting the cable to the tv is the last process of this nobrainer process. It’s true that you would need to adapt the TV sound setting to the cable that you are using to match the audio output. After that, the bar and the TV are mutually connected and controlled by your tv remote. Be aware that the bar, is not bringing a separate remote, if you use your HDMI, the TV remote will do it, if you are using an optical cable, the remote will be your phone/app. The basic installation can not be simpler than connecting two sides of the wire. After that from the app, you will start to enjoy the different functionalities and types of sound delivered. My recommendation is also, to start by updating the firmware. After that, a self-calibration process is used by the bar to detect room sound reverberance and echo. The on/off and activation of the bass would allow you to reduce the bass return. Dione can be installed on the wall (a template for installation is also available) or on a shelf. A strongly recommended, purchase if the powerful image of your tv needs an evolving 5.1.2 immersive experience. A plus, connecting Bluetooth with your phone, you can use the bar to reproduce music with the same interesting sound,

So, the Devialet Dione: a soundbar to replace a whole 5.1.2 sound system. Can it deliver on such promise? For me, I believe it gets most of the way there. Really is a 4.5 star review. Let’s start off by talking about the unboxing and general feel of the Dione. There’s no way around it: the soundbar looks, feels, and is boxed like a premium product. The Dione features metal materials, and the mesh used to house some of the speakers is very fine, but seemingly rugged. The sphere in the middle, housing the center channels, is something of a talking piece. I personally enjoy the design as it’s something different than you normally see. It’s also big and heavy; taking up the better part of a TV stand at nearly 48” long. This shouldn’t be a big deal for some, though, as you can also mount the Dione on a wall, which is great. Once out of the box, setup is also straightforward, though you’ll have to use the Devialet app to finish putting it together. There is no physical remote used, and you’ll need a Devialet account as well, which may annoy some. There are few ports to use on the back underside of the device: one HDMI eARC, one optical, one power, and one ethernet port. Some may scoff at this, but the reality is if you’re using a soundbar you should’t need a ton of connections. Now that we’re connected, let’s talk about sound itself. In one word, it’s wonderful. And boy, without bass reducer turned on, there is a ton of deep, low-end frequencies hit. Once you turn on the bass reducer, you’re met with a cleaner, slightly more detailed sound overall. The low notes are still there, but less punchy across all frequencies. In this case, it certainly improves the whole soundstage. For music, the Dione performs very well. I wish there was more detail on the high frequency range, but the reality is the drivers perform darn good, and produce a clean, slightly refined and tight soundstage. For movies without an Atmos audio track, the Dione is the least effective. According to Devialet, the Dione will upmix all 5.1 basic Dolby Digital mixes to Atmos, but I found this effect to be mediocre, at best. I tested this with Mad Max: Fury Road across two different audio mixes, and the Atmos one was far better at utilizing all 17 speakers inside the Dione to create an engulfing sound experience. For movies/shows with an Atmos audio mix, though, the Dione did an admirable job at recreating the height and side/back speakers you’d expect from a true 5.1.2 Atmos setup. Watching Andor on Disney+ really highlighted this for me, as ships and blaster fire was being thrown around the TV room with haste and true sound. Remember the sphere in the middle of the Dione that handles all dialogue? Well, that center channel is probably the highlight of the Dione. Dialogue is so clear and crisp that, at times, you can hear the ruffling of jackets/coats on the main people on screen. Just like the bass and low-end, Devialet seems to have found the formula for dialogue. One nice part of the Dione is there is a 2-year warranty offered, which is something you don’t always see with soundbars. In my short experience with customer service they were great as well. So, overall, I think there’s a real reason to consider the Dione if you fit into a semi-specific category of people. The sound produced is fantastic, the low-end is legit rivaled by no other soundbar, and the dialogue is almost too clear at times. There’s no DTS:X support, but for most this isn’t going to be an issue. The inclusion of a bass-reducer toggle in the latest firmware update helps a lot to tighten up sound, though I still hope to see some other ways to tweak the sound moving forward. I’d definitely recommend the Dione to anyone searching for a premium soundbar experience, though to know about it’s little shortcomings from the start.

What an unbelievable piece of technology! This sound bar produces incredible sound for being just a sound bar with no rear speakers or external subwoofer. I can hardly believe it. Out of the box, you find a drilling template, wall mount guide, power and hdmi cables, and the Dione unit itself. Right away I was mesmerized by it's unusual design. The orb in the center is so unique looking. Opening the quick start guide and you are presented with extremely detailed instructions on the best way to set up your system. After mounting on shelf attached to the wall under the TV and plugging in the cables, I was ready to download the app and get started. If you mount directly to the wall, it is supposed to be mounted with the top facing away from the wall. Make sure if placing on a shelf that there is space from the wall as the rear speakers need some room. Downloading and operating the app makes setup a breeze and took no time at all. You can play music from your phone via Bluetooth or AirPlay. Part of the setup in the app is the room calibration which tunes the sound produced to the room that the unit is in. It makes such a difference. It turns your room into a sound bubble. Really incredible. The quailty of the sound is nothing short of spectacular. Devialet (De-vee-uh-lay) demonstrates a perfect understanding of how soundwaves work and interact with each other in space. The sound surrounds and encompasses you; feeling like it is moving through you. It really adds a new dimension to watching that epic movie where great sound makes all the difference. While the regular sound is wonderful, anything in Dolby Atmos is on another level when it comes to this soundbar. The difference is shocking. The nuance you pick up when in Atmos is spectacular. It is as if you are right there in person. Truly remarkable. If you are wondering what kind of difference that spending the extra money makes, buy this soundbar and you will find out.

    Truly Amazing Sound Experience

Never had I imagine a soundbar would blow me away when watching movies or playing games. Devialet has created such a great bar, that it is on par or comes so close to an actual 7.2 full home set up. There are a couple is minor things that bugged me at the beginning, but I got over it rather quickly (more on it later). To say this bar is a beast is an understatement. In the sturdy box comes all you need to start your sound experience. Extreme care was used to make sure everything was in perfect condition when it arrived. Inside is the bar itself, power cable, 1x HDMI cable, 1x Optical (don't see this often) cable, handy wall mount guide and other documentation. Setup was as easy it gets. You must download the app in order to use the soundbar to it's full potential as there is no remote at all. I used the included HDMI cable and plugged it into my TV's eARC connection. As this bar is rather big (47.25 inches) and has a bit a heft to it (>26 lbs), I felt a lot more comfortable placing it on my entertainment center vs wall mounting it. Also just my preference, it looks so nice sitting instead of wall mounted. As soon as I paired my phone with the speaker, it updated it's firmware quickly and I was off to the races. I let the bar itself perform the calibration test in my living room for optimal performance. Performance is as top notch as you can expect. It does seem like there is a It's-so-good-you-don't-need-to-adjust-anything vibe going as there is no equalizer at all to fine tune. Only thing I could change was the bass. I am not saying it is a bad thing, but I had no issues. Contained in the bar is 17 drivers (9 full range and 8 subwoofers) and threw my out expectation of needing a stand alone sub. I had 2 cons about the Dione. 1st is lack of remote but I quickly got over it as it relies on your TV's and app. Since I literally have my phone on or near me at all times, this "issue" faded away rather quickly. The 2nd is lack of inputs. You are basically limiting yourself to inputs to what you particular TV comes with. Build and sound quality is what you would expect at this price range and it holds up to it's end of the bargain. I would recommend this in a heartbeat if you are looking for something to complete your main entertainment center. Also has the nice bonus of being as minimalist as possible as it removes the need for bulky surround set up.

Amazing sound once you get it setup. The reason why i gave the soundbar 4 stars is because the devialet app for android tends to be a pain for the setup and it would not go through i got tired of trying. I had tried my other android phones and tablet to get it done and still would not finish the setup. Only my sis has an iphone who came over to let me use it to set it up. After this then i was able to complete the setup and wow this soundbar has amazing sound. Devialet really needs to get the android app to work because its a shame such an expensive product with awesome features and sound is handicapped without the app. So what the app does is help fill the room with the properly tuned sound I used it without going through with the app and it was really good but the app does add on to that . What surprised me is the sound feeling like it comes from different location. Add dolby atmos to it and any video source that supports dolby atmos just add another layer of amazing sound . You can use the tv remote to control the volume . Turn off or on the tv and the soundbar turns on as well. Just connect the soundbar to the correct hdmi port usually labeled ARC and you're good to go.
