The Devil May Cry HD collection is perfect for those wanting to get into DMC. You get 2 great games(and 1 mediocre game) for the price of one. The PS4 version differs greatly from the PS3 version having fixed many menu issues, as well as giving you the ability to change games without exiting to the PlayStation menu. The games themselves are where your mileage may vary. Devil May Cry is the game that pioneered the character action genre. You play as Dante, a demon hunter, that goes to a demonic island to battle the Lord of the underworld. You'll battle mannequins, large magma scorpions, and dark angels. No one said it was going to be easy, Devil May Cry is a very hard game. Not impossible but expect to die multiple times very early on until you get accustomed to the controls. The game is also very archaic in other designs like a Resident Evil style camera, very claustrophobic locations(which addto the atmosphere) and wonky platforming sections. All in all Devil May Cry is a very good place to get started. For everything DMC did right, DMC2 is a massive step backwards. Designwise and aesthetically, it's dull. Maybe you could blame the PS2 limitations, but DMC didn't suffer too much from it thanks to the fact it went for a gothic style atmosphere. DMC2 just pales in comparison. Gameplay wise it's worse. The combat is gimped giving you only Swords as main melee weapons that all share the same moves and combos. And gun combat has too much focus, making them very overpowered. The story is also lame, the characters are dull, Dante has no personality to speak of, and Lucia is Trish from the first game but lamer. And that's how you can describe this game. It's boring. You're better off skipping it, unless youre a chronology nut and have to play games in order. Otherwise there's nothing here for you. Devil May Cry 3 on the other hand, improved upon everything that you could improve. If you're buying the HD Collection, the main game you're paying for is this one. There's a reason its still considered the best DMC game to date. Combat has been improved giving Dante multiple fighting styles to choose from that change his gameplay slightly. Multiple weapons to choose. From the trusty Rebellion sword, to the ice nunchucks Cerberus, to the electrifying guitar Nevan. There's never a dull weapon and any combination is viable. The story is also a strong point for the game. Being a prequel to the original game, it stars a young Dante facing off against his twin brother Vergil from opening a portal to the demon realm. Levels are plentyful with secrets to discover and challenges to perform. All in all DMC3 is a fantastic game, and one that I implore all action game fans to try out.

I always have and always will love the Devil May Cry series. With the exception of the 2nd entry, which gets a lot of flack, and deservedly so, DMC has always been the pinnacle of action games. All 3 titles included in this collection boast slick visuals, style, and a challenging but fair learning curve that's as rewarding as it is fun to overcome. I did have to knock off a star from the rating for 2 reasons in particular. There's nothing really new here that wasn't included previously in the PS3 version of the collection. Also, even though the game resolutions have been given a bump from 720p to 1080p, their are no visual benefits beyond that for PS4 Pro or Xbox One X owners. I also would have liked to have seen 2013's DMC included as a bonus offer, but I guess I understand considering that its not the same "Dante" across all four entries. Anyway, the decision to purchase is easy to make for fans of the series like me, especially if you catch it on sale, but I'd only recommend it if you don't already own it in some capacity.

Devil May Cry 1 & 3 are some of my favorite games of all time. I could care less for the second game, but this bundle is worth it just for those two. Both still hold up well, but there is that occasional awkward camera angle. The stylish combat still feels fresh even a decade after they have released. Devil May Cry 3's combat has the most depth and style out of the three games, with a vast array of awesome devil arms and guns to chose from to pull off amazing combos. I cannot recommend the HD Collection enough.

An amazing collection of classic PS2 character action games that feature Dante's journey from his youth to being an adult. A franchise that is classically stylish, and incredibly rewarding to dig deeper into the combat mechanics. Note: Devil May Cry 2 is considered a black sheep of the franchise, although it's presence in this collection is not net negative; especially since the existence of a character like Lucia helps to offset the missteps of this entry.

Devil May Cry is a franchise that revolutionised hack-and-slash gaming back when it first released in October 2001 for the PlayStation 2. Since then, the series has seen several sequels that varied in quality, but ultimately still provided some of the most exciting and engaging gameplay to date. Naturally, Capcom had decided to remaster the original PS2 trilogy on PlayStation 3 back in 2012, and now, we've got a port of the remaster for PlayStation 4 here in 2018. So, is this trilogy still “stylish”, or has it hit a “dull” slate? Let’s make this clear: Devil May Cry HD Collection is essentially a straight port of the PS3 remaster. However, some differences were found in this version versus the previous. First off, a very welcome feature (that was oddly omitted on PS3) is the ability to actually exit the Devil May Cry game you’re playing and go back to the game selection screen. Simply pressing the touchpad at the main menu of any title will take you back. On the PS3 version, you had to actually quit out of the entire application, load the XMB, then relaunch the game.

great collection of games with a gloomy storyline and kickass action. the games were good to play during its generation. however, loading up the game and looking at the graphics seems pixelated to me now. i would suggest u save your money and buy devil may cry games starting with 4 and above if you want decent graphics

Not essential to play before DMC 5 but it was certainly very fun and rewarding for me to go through them all. The graphics aren't the best but have been greatly cleaned up compared to the initial releases of the respective games. It was especially amazing to go game by game and see the minor yet great improvements that were done to each new installment. All in all it has great characters, voice acting, and gameplay.. what's not to like?

Its a good game, sometimes it'll show its age during cut scenes but the game play is revamped in HD. Definitely a good buy if you have never played the original 3.

This collection of the original 3 DMC games is a slightly enhanced port of the PS3 version. That said, it does run a little better on the newer consoles. If you've never played DMC, then stop reading this review and hit the add to cart button. This game usually goes pretty cheap, but even not on sale, it's worth the buy.

Loved the series since day one back on the PS2. This is a great collection for any fan of the series or any newcomers. The remaster gives the game a fresh new look and for once you can play the whole series in one spot without the need to hunt down three separate games that are super hard to acquire nowadays.

This is a must for anyone that loved and played the original Devil May Cry trilogy back on the PlayStation 2. This collection got new HD graphics and comes with all 3 games and its content on Disc. Only reason not to get is if you already own it on PS3.

A great remaster and port of the original games. The trophy list is challenging though and will require multiple play throughs which is my only knock on it. The visuals look great and it’s still fun to play many years later.

This compilation has one of the best games ever made plus two other games thrown in. If you’ve not played DMC3 and are a fan of stylish combat and sick one liners now is the time to check it out. Fans of the series buy it again for that sweet Vergil Devil Trigger now in HD.

With the recent announcement of Devil May Cry 5, I thought now would be a good time to play the first 4. These games are still as fun as I remember them. Even DMC 2 is fun at times. This collection doesn't include DMC 4, I bought that one during the flash sale on PSN.

For a remaster this is actually a pretty good game I recommend it to anyone who likes Devil May Cry it is way better than that sorry remake they did with the kid version of Dante. I have been a fan of Devil May Cry since the early days of Devil May Cry.
