If you are into role playing games, this is a must have! You can sink well over a hundred hours into this game just with one play-through. It is a masterpiece that you could say is one of the greatest role playing games to ever be made. Multiple story lines that you can take on because of the different characters available to play. I'm also a big fan of turn based games, so this game is spot on to the qualities I look for in a game.

Where to start. . .how about seamless couch co-op for a game I haven't seen this good since the Baldur's Gate series. I know, them is fighting words and speaking of the combat: this game is thoughtfully incorporate of line of sight, terrain elevation, weather conditions, destructible environments, friendly-fire, conditional combos, etc.
Also, in light of recent games that sucked for making items feel unrewarding or not locked behind paywalls (*GLARE* ANTHEM) I can't stress enough how much fun it is to just walk up to a vendor after leveling up and drooling all over the epic, unique, and legendary items on display. All of which you can also find on the corpses of bodies you demolish (or the pockets of unsuspecting sneak-thief victims >:D)!
Tons of roleplay on display here, the story makes the classic mistake of a great game by showing, not telling. Plots are intertwined for tough decisions, sidequests are at times overbearing with too much to choose from, and while playing co-op you can even talk with your partner ingame with your own opinion of current events. The game just oozes charm and is a hallmark of what action RPG's should be.
I could go on for days (and I have playing this game) but I highly recommended for beginners and masters of the genre. We've been so enthralled playing, we're going to try and get our friends to play on our next outing via online hosting. Yep, this game even has that. Now that the game is half off, don't think just buy. You won't regret it!

Its a great game with the option of 2 players which deals more action. A bit challenging to learn, yet nothing difficult once you get the hang of it. It's thought provoking, humorous in parts, and characters are detailed.

Only a few hours in but I can say the gameplay is much more polished then its predecessor. Menus, inventory and such are much more streamlined and organized. Visuals are tenfold better with HDR and 4K support. I spent nearly 45 minutes creating a character with the endless amount of skills and combinations you can use. Battle takes alot to get used to, as it did in the first game. I'm never a fan of putting a game to "easy" as I always enjoy the challenge. But much like the first game, this game is guilty of punishing you early. I enjoy exploring in RPGs, and pushing the boundaries. But unfortunately this game makes you pay for it early on. If you steal and get caught, or go somewhere you're not supposed to, chances are you will be thrust into a battle against multiple enemies 10x's as strong. But battles that are storyline related you will fair pretty well against. It may sound ridiculous listing this as a gripe, but i dont enjoy having to quit and restart multiple times simply because I ticked off one NPC and the entire tavern turned against me.

One of the deepest and most satisfying RPGs I have ever played. The writing, gameplay, art design, everything about it is absolutely top notch.
However, in order to get the most out of it, you have to be able to devote the time, or you will not ever get anywhere. This is a DEEP game. There is so much to do, you will become completely engrossed. I actually could not give it the time it deserved but I absolutely had an amazing time any way. I highly recommend it to the RPG fan who has the time to devote to a deep game with a great story and excellent mechanics.

I bought this game looking to scratch an itch for a good turn based, action RPG. This game definitely delivered. It take elements from traditional DnD to greatly influence the story. I love this game. I'm over 40 hours in and I'm already itching to start it over once I finish it. The story is gripping, you grow to care about your companions. You may get emotional with this game, just as I have. Great Game. I absolutely love it.

Another great turn based Rpg. Love playing it with my brothers online. takes a minute to get the controls down for their multiple functions ( setting up your bars, and accidentally using your turn for something else unintended) versus playing it on your computer. Can play with up to 4 people and has a lobby to find games. If you dont have four people to play with no problem you can control all four or assign the extra to any other person you are playing with. The biggest issue is though unless you are the person who setup the game you cant get back into that same game without the original instance creator. All and all its a fun time consuming game that allows you to play it differently for different outcomes everytime.

Divinity Original Sin 2 has upped the game for turn-based "Western" role playing games to a point that it's hard to imagine it getting any better, in regards to game systems, controls, and handling, barring some major controller change to the next generation. Surely, the next gen PS5 will offer more in the way of graphics, loading times, or other technical increases, but as for porting over a game that relies on using a good chunk of a keyboard on PC to a console controller, this may be the very best we'll have, and it's great.
As great as it is, the "handling" would be nothing more than a wishlist item for a completely different game if the game itself wasn't any good, but Larian Studios continues with its amazing pedigree.
You'll have a group of 4 heroes chosen among 8 characters, all with their own fully fleshed story, or, if you choose, you can create your own. (The heroes they offer are excellent, and I'd recommend beginning with one of them. They introduce you into the gigantic array of systems easier. Even these pre-made heroes are customizable almost entirely from the ground up, so you'll be able to change a fighter hero to your preferred class right from the outset!) Their stories and their characterizations are done so well, you'll want to see them all play out!
Choice is perhaps the biggest thing here in DOS2. Every step of the way, you're truly in control. From choosing your class to interacting with other characters, whether they be major or minor characters, you truly "run the show". And it's much more than surface level- you won't just have a character class, spells, and attributes to choose from, but talents and backgrounds that help shape your story and how the world and its inhabitants engage with you. (Highly recommend "Pet Pal," which allows you to speak with animals, which are fully voiced!)
Choices will also shape the world, as decisions are permanent. Accidentally hit an onlooker during a battle, and they'll attack. Steal from or kill an NPC, and they or villagers may seek revenge, shun you, or close off quests you may have otherwise received from them.
Beyond choice, DOS2 offers an "innovative common sense" method of play. In a day and age where every game seems to take pride in hiding behind obtuse systems, DOS2's will almost seem easy to overlook in battle, even in the non-hurried gameplay of taking turns.
Cast a rain spell, causing enemies to be standing in a puddle, then zap them all with one lightning bolt. Knock over a barrel of oil, then set it ablaze to force enemies to bunch up at a chokepoint. (Or, in a personal example, launching a water arrow at a teammate who had been set on fire to put him out!)
What else makes DOS2 stand out among RPGs? You can play online to adventure with up to 3 other players. (Even in single player, you can split your adventurers and tackle 2 quests at the same time, if you choose, as you're also able to take direct control over anybody on your team). You can even play couch co-op with a friend or family member.
Even more intriguing is the "Game Master" mode, where up to 5 players play together, with one controlling the game's narrative as the GM.
DOS2 is, with very little wiggle room for debate, among the very top of the list of RPGs available for a console. You can argue for some of the Eastern style RPGs with some moxy, but among the Western style, it IS the best.
But, be warned, if Final Fantasy or Persona is what you're looking for, DOS2 is not it. It's still completely recommended, being the masterpiece that it is, but it is a different playstyle. It's Dungeons & Dragons in a digital form that's advanced further than the old Icewind Dales and the like from 15 years ago. It's a more complicated, more micro-managed game and takes lots of patience and a frequent willingness to save the game, especially early, as you learn the game. (Pretty sound advice to save often here, no matter your experience). It's a time-consumer, so set plenty of time aside when you pop this in.
If you're looking for one of the greatest RPGs ever made, your next addiction that will eat up over 100 hours to play through, then leave you heading back in with a new party to experience it from different eyes, DOS2 simply cannot be passed up!

If you're a fan of the first game, then you'll love this one as well. Awesome story, lengthy campaign with lots to do and the controls have translated to console gaming better than you'd think. The music is great, character creation is deep, and the combat/magic systems are robust and well thought out. One of the best games of the year, no doubt.

This is as fun as you will get with a fantasy based turn based game. Much better than its Japanese counterparts, it's a joy to play and create strategies using the environment and all your powers.
Great dialogue, story and RPG driven stats and mechanics. If you are over Persona or Dragon Quest like games and want something deeper and fun then get this and the first one as well.
Get it.

This is a straight up RPG that requires immense attention to your character's skills and abilities. Only for the true die hards of the genre to enjoy. Combat is tactical and strategic and the terrain and environment plays an important role in success. It's loads of fun once it clicks and the story is truly epic.

I waited too long to pick this up. It's a massive game with so much story and content that allows the player a ton of freedom to explore and make choices. This starts at the character creation screen with multiple classes and races for your character. All of these decisions make a big difference in the game. It looks great too. Don't wait to get it.

If you liked the first game then you’ll definitely like this game. It’s a Crpg that relies heavily on strategy to win. That’s the main draw. How you use your spells, attacks, defense, terrain etc. This game is probably the pinnacle of that type of combat. The story is deep and long and interesting as well, in the vein of old school rpg classics. If that type of gameplay appeals to you, then you’ll love this, as it’s probably the best of its genre.

Forget everything you may or may not love about Divinity Original Sin because the sequel kicks everything up a notch and improves in arguably every aspect. The voice acting, the music and the interaction between characters do such a great job of immersing you within this world. The tactics are very well implemented and can work against you if you aren’t prepared. Make no mistake, this game is very unforgiving and downright brutal to those that don’t take the time to understand the nuances of it’s mechanics. If you make a mistake the game will punish you for it and won’t relent. On the opposite side of the coin, once you understand how the game is played and see opportunities rise to take advantages wherever you can that’s when the game truly shines. There is nothing better than putting a theory into practice only to have it pay off exactly the way you imagined it would. There are many ways to accomplish a goal and the game rewards you for your creativity which I truly appreciate.

I'm only about 10 hours into the game so far but its been a blast. Definitely one of the best RPG games out there and if its anything like the first one expect around at least 50 hours of content plus lots of fun.
