As someone who enjoys building my own FPV quadcopters, there is a lot of value in this package. For anyone wishing to start the FPV experience with higher quality gear and little risk of crash damage beyond repair, it doesnt get much better than this offering. This rig will allow you to start with training wheels and progress step by step up to manual flight while enjoying arguably the best camera and goggle experience available today. Comparable goggles fully outfitted typically cost upwards of $600 and any RTF drone equipped with an 03 air pack camera system will start at $500, none of which offer the options / functions of the Avata 2 and nothing remotely compares to the flight time per battery.
No other ready to fly FPV drones offer insurance against fly away loss or crash damage for $50 per year, no doubt still a better deal for DJI considering the reliability of these machines. Politics aside, dollar for dollar, unless you're already a highly skilled FPV pilot, it is hard to imagine anyone outgrowing their use for an Avata 2. The only real downside I have discovered is that DJI hasn't yet released software to make the goggles 3 compatable with their 03 air units to use in my custom built quadcopters, but I fully expect such an update to be released in the near future.

It is a nice package! Offering very good experience and nice flying camera!. While it deserves all the stars, there is a small issue with this combo! It is nothing major indeed and it can be fixed easily. The controller coming with this combo is not the best. I will be ordering the classic controller. Way better than this one hand joystick tilt sensing controller... I have another drone Mini 3 pro, and it is way easier to control compared to this one. I thought that it might be something new and it needs a get used to! but then when chatting with other drone pilots, they all confirm that the classic controller is a must!
Flying time is good. I am getting an average of 20minutes in very high speed windy day flights. In most flights, I am recording too. The Avata 2 Combo comes with 3 batteries which allows longer time flying with the easy swap! The controller and VR batteries last for very long time. I have charged them once and the flying batteries almost 4 times so far.
Flying distance is not crazy, The Avata 2 would stop from running away... No complains! I am in a geo restriction area: Close to an airport...
While it looks like optional, I'll be applying for a drone license. Just to keep things in order.
Recording quality is very good. Video only...
Setting it in beginner's mode would make it possible to fly it indoor. The Avata 2 has objects avoidance and height maintaining (to certain limit). So far, I have zero crash and have already used it for long time (long enough).
Speed an maneuvers are amazing. The wind, even a strong one, is not affecting much! I just had a falcon trying to attack it several times. I think I invaded its territory...
Setting up the drone and its components was very easy. It had to update once turned on. After that it was only on and go. I advise you to watch the tutorial videos / articles. You will learn a lot from them. Even if you are experienced!
It comes with a lot of nice features and stunts. It will make your flying experience very nice. Radio range is good. I am sure I was limited by the geo region I am in! I never lost radio but reached max distance...
This is a good entry into FPV piloting. It will indeed help you getting the required experience safely.
With regard of the nature of it: It is a drone air plane! and all the dangerous situation that it could get into... I strongly advise to either get BestBuy protection or DJI care. Better to get BOTH!... You will eventually need to have all the available support...
I recommend buying it if you are into nature and fan of high sky videos... You will enjoy it also if you are fan of speed and adventures flying low and fast.

DJI continues to outdo themselves in the drone and especially the FPV drone world and the DJI Avata 2 is no exception. I have worked my way up from the DJI Mavic Air, Air 2, FPV, and now the Avata 2 and the Avata 2 has blown me away so far. Out of all the DJI drones I have worked with, the Avata 2 is easily the most robust, heavy duty, streamlined, but also drastically lighter in weight. As I was unboxing the Avata 2 I noticed that DJI has even drastically improved their packaging and the case the drone comes with. As a photographer I have always appreciated a nice gear bag, and I really appreciate the bag that came with my DJI Mavic Air 2, but the bag for the Avata 2 has blown me away, it comes already stocked with all the extra accessories and is organized for you so opening it all up and going through everything feels like christmas morning. Setting up this drone was very easy starting with just charging the goggles, controller, and three drone batteries in their docking station. The first charges took a while so do not expect to be able to fly this within minutes of taking it out of the box. Once charged the activation process was fairly simple, as an android user the app gave me some difficulties. My phone was blocking the download of the app that was needed to activate the drone, but I was able to use a different browser on my phone and got it downloaded, from there it was smooth sailing. As far as flying this drone, the joystick has been a harder learning curve than I was expecting. Since all of my previous drone flying experience was done with a two handed controller and all the controls have been the same across all models, all of a sudden having a one handed control/joystick has been different. I think I prefer the two handed controller and hopefully DJI offers that option in the future for operators that are used to this control method. I did enjoy the Head Tracking Mode though as that was new to me it was pretty easy to get the hang of. The battery life is satisfactory, especially compared to older models. This price point may seem a bit much but for all the accessories and spare pieces DJI includes in this Fly More Combo, it is worth it, there are really no other accessories or items you will need to buy and the fact that it all fits compactly in its case that I love is so nice. This drone will be great for both new drone pilots and also veteran drone pilots who are looking for something different. I am only giving 4 stars due to the joystick controller and not a standard controller option in the fly more kit.

To make it simple, once it's set up and you're familiar with how the motion controller works, it's as ready as point where you want the drone to go, and it does. The goggles have a built in diopter, for people that wear glasses/contacts so you don't have to worry about about clarity. The headset is very light weight and didn't cause me any neck pain, which i do get while wearing a VR headset. As i said my mom, who can barely use the internet was able to fly this drive after a few minutes of being shown how the motion controller works. To me this is what i expect when i think about flying drone. It's fast easy to use. It can do flips (front, back and barrel rolls) while it's flying and you can take pictures and video from the deone as well as what you see in the headset which shows the drone info! Highly recommend, even if it's your first drone.

First time buying a FPV and it’s amazing! Iv been flying drones for a few years now but I have to say that’s FPV is way more fun to fly. The MC is fun as well, takes some practice but it’s really easy to fly. I do wish there was obstacle avoidance but I’m guessing because of the closeness to objects you need to get footage it would be tough to add OA. Def get the Fly more combo Check out my IG page: ( MON5T3R_ )for footage or any questions!

The Gold Standard of FPV. DJI has a winner.

To start off, I'm not exactly new to flying drones, but I am new to FPV. I didn't really know what to expect given the motion controller and googles are a bit different than what I've used in the past.
As many of you know, DJI is recognized as being the "gold standard" of consumer grade drone hardware. The Avata 2 is no exception in the FPV front.
The combo offered here gives you everything you need to start flying.
You get:
-Avata 2 Drone
-Googles gen 3
-RC Motion controller gen 3
-Battery bank with 3x batteries
-Cables and spare parts.
You also get a really nice travel bag if purchasing the "Fly more" Combo. The base Avata 2 combo with single battery doesn't include it.
INITIAL THOUGHTS:
By the time I had everything charged up, it was already late and dark... so I decided to do it's maiden flight in my house. To my surprise, the drone handled itself VERY well in enclosed spaces going slow.
I did have a small mishap in a hallway when the battery ended up dying and flew up to the ceiling randomly, but nothing was really damaged.
The next day, I took it around my backyard to the front of the house and had an absolute blast! No crashes! The best way to describe it is like playing a VR video game... Except its real life!
The ability to record and take photos is just straight up breath taking. I was able to get a few great shots of the lake near my house.
For a drone that's intended to be for FPV, you can get really nice video and shots... 5/5.
CAVEATS:
While I do enjoy the "RC motion 3", I would prefer a standard controller.
DJI actually sells one that was built for this called "FPV Controller 3". I'm not sure why they don't sell one with a combo, but I would greatly prefer that.
That's not to say that the RC motion 3 is bad.. it's just a different kind of experience.
The batteries only really last 15-20 mins per run.. so expect around 45min to an hour of play time before having to recharge if using all 3 batteries.
My friend has an AVATA "1" and his seems better built. Not sure if that's the general conscious, but something I noticed.
MISC:
I would suggest going with the replacement service though DJI. There's a 48 hour limit to apply once activated, but the cost and repair ability can be a life saver if you end up losing or damaging your drone.
I went with the single year of DJI care, but this can be re-applied every year for up to 3 years.. after that, you will have to find 3rd party insurance.
I would also recommend registering your drone with the FAA and taking the TRUST test as required for recreational use. DJI makes this easy through the app.
OVERALL:
There's not much to really fault here. It's a very intuitive experience. I think this drone will end up as a very popular model for beginners and veteran's alike.
While I do wish it came with the new "FPV controller 3" (Which was essentially designed for and currently only works with the Avata 2), the "RC motion 3" is very easy to use.
Like I said prior.. it's just a different kind of experience.. Not make or break.. Is it weird that they don't offer a combo with the better controller? Yes.
My rating is a solid 4.5/5.. Which ill round up to 5/5. Excellent product.

A Thrilling New Perspective: A Long-Term Review of the DJI Avata 2
After spending over a year with the DJI Avata 2 since its launch in April 2024, it has not only earned a permanent spot in my collection of DJI drones but has fundamentally reshaped my passion for flight. For both seasoned pilots and those curious about the immersive world of First-Person View (FPV), the Avata 2 stands out as a phenomenal piece of technology that masterfully blends performance, safety, and user-friendliness.
An Unparalleled FPV Experience
Coming from a background of more traditional DJI drones, the Avata 2 was a revelation. It has made the exhilarating experience of FPV flying more accessible and intuitive than ever before. The redesigned headset is a significant upgrade over its predecessor, offering a comfortable fit and a crystal-clear view that truly makes you feel like you are soaring through the skies. Paired with the new motion controller, the learning curve for mastering dynamic aerial maneuvers is surprisingly gentle.
One of the most impressive aspects of the Avata 2 is its 'easy acro' mode. This feature is a game-changer for newcomers to FPV, enabling you to execute impressive flips and rolls with remarkable ease and confidence. It’s a perfect training ground before progressing to full manual control, ensuring that the thrill of FPV is not gated by a steep and often intimidating learning process.
Stunning Visuals and Rock-Solid Durability
The image quality produced by the Avata 2's camera is nothing short of stunning. The vibrant colors and sharp details bring a new level of immersion to every flight, capturing breathtaking footage that was once the exclusive domain of professional FPV pilots with custom-built rigs.
Beyond the visuals, the drone's durability has been a standout feature. The integrated propeller guards are a testament to DJI's thoughtful design, providing a robust shield against the inevitable bumps and scrapes that come with ambitious flying. This built-in protection has saved my Avata 2 from countless potential mishaps, allowing me to fly with a greater sense of freedom and confidence.
Flight Time and Final Thoughts
While the flight time of the Avata 2 is, as expected for an FPV drone, shorter than that of its more traditional counterparts like the Mavic series, the sheer adrenaline and joy of every moment in the air more than compensate for it. The immersive experience is so captivating that the shorter flight duration becomes a minor consideration.
In conclusion, the DJI Avata 2 is an outstanding drone that I wholeheartedly recommend. It has successfully bridged the gap between professional FPV setups and consumer-friendly drones, offering an accessible yet powerful package. Whether you are an experienced FPV enthusiast looking for a reliable and high-quality addition to your fleet or a complete beginner eager to experience the world from a new perspective, the Avata 2 is an exceptional choice that is sure to impress.

It is very user friendly. As my first drone it outperformed my expectations and was very exhilarating to experience. It had my heart racing in turbo mode, and once you get used to the controls you realize they are very intuitive and can achieve maneuverability after a few practice runs. I bought the extra batteries as a safety precaution so I would be able to return home at 50% and not risk an emergency landing (even though I have Total Tech). The extra battery packs have kept me from having range anxiety and indeed kept my Avata 2 from having an emergency landing so I highly recommend them. The FPV experience is so real and the control is simply intuitive and why I leaned towards the Avata series.

I loved the DJI AVATA 2 drone, it exceeded my expectations, easy to fly, fast and the goggles are very good. The combo was excellent with 3 batteries, I just missed the charger that does not come with the product, I had to buy it directly from DJI with 100W to quickly charge the smart batteries, since with a 20W that I was using it took a whole night to charge the 3 batteries.

I just got my first FPV drone, and I love it! As a beginner, I was worried it would be hard to use, but it turned out to be great.
Setting it up was easy, and the controls are simple to get used to. The joystick is very responsive, making it easy to fly. The goggles give an amazing immersive experience, and it feels like you're right there with the drone.
The drone is built strong and flies smoothly. The battery lasts a good amount of time, so you can fly for a while without stopping.
Overall, this FPV drone is perfect for both beginners and experienced flyers. It's easy to use, and the experience with the goggles is amazing. I highly recommend it!

Technically I'm rounding up. I think it deserves a 4.5. I'm just a newbie hobbyist though. The Avata 2 is very light. So much so that I feel they could have gotten the weight below 2.50g. Given the weight and the body type it doesn't handle wind as well as it could. The motion sensor has a much greater learning curve that I imagined. As for the positives? Everything else was impressive to me. It's very responsive and zippy. The goggle's picture in picture feature is what I wanted and it does not disappoint. The camera is very good as well. It was a great birthday gift to myself.

Feel like your flying and with the natural feel of control with the controller is amazing. The goggles are the best yet and the adjustable fit is a perfect fit without the pressure on the nose. Priced to sell with 2 batteries, cheaper than the original but much nicer.. Have you tried those racing or freestyle drones? Hard to fly without alot of practice and crashes... this drone lets anyone fly with ease and can be advanced to do flips and rolls.

Quite possibly the best drone yet. I’ve had a bunch and this one is now my go-to. First time ever flying FPV and I’m hooked. Everything about this drone is better than the Avata 1. I can’t think of anything I’d add or change except maybe the price point (bc I’m cheap), however, for the money, it’s the best on the market. Definitely a game changer in the drone world and a new bar to climb above.

My prior experience flying drones is with Mavic Pro, so going into FPV was a new experience. I must say, this little drone is awesome, great job DJI! Even if you have no experience flying, no worries it has beginner mode and you practically can't crash in that mode. Then there is normal and sport modes. Controller is very easy and before you know it you will be weaving between the trees like a pro. I'm very happy with it.

This is an excellent FPV drone if you are looking to try to get into that side of the drone hobby. While not a true FPV drone, it is a very smooth cinewhoop. The Motion Controller takes a bit to get used to, but after running through one or two batteries, anyone could fly this drone. The goggles have adjustable dioptors which makes it easy for people who where glasses to see the screen very clearly.

This new Dji Avata 2 drone is amazing and fun! I love it and would recommend it to anyone starting out in the fpv hobby. I purchased the combo kit with the drone, 3 batteries and charger box, motion controller and bag. If you want the the newest controller (Dji fpv controller 3) that’s an extra cost of $200 separately. If you want ND filters that’s another cost of $75, that’s for Dji branded filters or you go on Amazon and purchase 3rd party ones for cheaper. There was recently a huge firmware update that has made it backwards compatible with the Dji controller 2 and goggles 2 and Integra goggles and motion controller. The drone’s camera is excellent and the quality of the videos and photos are excellent. The goggles have no light leaks and you don’t have to connect your phone to the goggles like on the goggles 2 for the gps. Only con about this drone is it feels not as tough as the Dji Avata 1. So if you crash REALLY hard it’s going to get wrecked! I’d look into the Dji Refresh care plan. Other than that this drone is fantastic!
