I never really even cared or looked into a gimbal for my iPhone yet I’m constantly taking videos and photos with it. Wanted a GoPro Hero 7 and when I was picking one up at Best Buy I noticed the Osmo 2 for only $140 bucks. I said give me one of those too! I put my iPhone 10XS Max on it and I’m amazed with its features. Motion lapse, panoramic and face tracker is awesome. I love the stability it brings to my 10XS Max videos as this phone has a really good camera. Every one at work wants one now after showing it off. The 15 hour battery charge is a nice feature too. Still have yet to recharge it after hours of use so far. Love it. The photo in my review is a panoramic using the Osmo 2 and my iPhone 10XS Max.

Having had it for little days , I can definitely say I do love this little gem. It handles heavier phone very well (Iphone X with slim case on or you can take it off) and produces very pleasing results with little practice. Very convenient to have controls of stop/record/zoom/functions at your fingertips without using the other hand to tap on the screen (the only downside you have to use DJI Go app to have access to these features) Good battery life. Can charge tap to charge the phone from the handle. Comes with fairly decent pre-molded foam case, which is plus. I just order the OSMO Base and the Dji Tripod to go with my set up. I would definitely Highly recommend this one hands down.

One of the best and easiest products I’ve used

First off for all of you complaining about - “oh i can’t get it to balance, oh the Bluetooth won’t connect.. oh this oh that” Your complaints aren’t valid so stop trolling this amazing product and the company that produced it. This product is easy to set up and balance IF YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS! Clearly several of you ARENT doing that and aren’t even bothering to try. Set up of this product is extremely easy, balancing it is as simple as looking at the diagram or YouTube videos, and for the love of all that is good it even GIVES you a tutorial when you access the camera! My iPhone X fits perfectly with no issue and i have also tried its large counterparts and they all work fine WHEN THE GIMBLE IS REBALANCED (yes you have to rebalance for a bigger phone- it’s common sense!) So STOP complaining about a product that works effortlessly and fluidly with no issues because the issues you are all talking about are USER issues! Now for my honest review - upon taking it out of the box i was already impressed by the case - while it feels like styrofoam it is not - it’s a very durable material and protects the gimble perfectly (however i will he ordering another case because of carrying) The gimbal itself was dead upon taking it out of the box so i was disappointed however i plugged it in over night and allowed it to fully charged (i was not disappointed after fully charging) Upon FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS (yes read that last part again please) the gimbal came to life and began to move around like it is suppose to. Next i set up the app and created an account to start getting full use out of my gimbal. Again following the instructions i balanced it, set it all up with absolute ease, and began playing with the functions... to my absolute surprise the first time i activated the camera i was given a tutorial on some of the features which was extremely helpful! I was even more surprised to learn that the product features a tracking mode which allows me to follow a single target. This will greatly improve my videos so for that DJI i thank you! Another amazing feature is the back up charger in the gimbal itself that you can plug a USB into to charge your phone!!! Like wait what?! I can charge my phone on the go?! Yes you can oooooo ahhhhhh! Absolute ecstatic about that feature as well! My only issue with this product is that i would prefer my videos to go directly to my iphones gallery. Over all this product receives a 5/5 for me due to its efficiency, ease of use (IF YOU READ THE INSTRUCTIONS), and it’s performance. Keep up the amazing work DJI and i can’t wait till December when i purchase my drone from you guys!

    Good stabilizer for smart phones

This is a nice stabilizer for the price tag. The software can be tricky for some to get used to, but once you do, you are set. Made of mostly plastic which keeps the weight down, but sacrifices a little bit in quality and sturdiness. For the price you can't go wrong. As phone camera's get better and better, this is great item to have. You can do slow mo and time lapses as well. You can also use the DJI camera app, or any camera app you have on your phone, including the stock app. I recommend getting small table top tripod legs to go with this gimbal. There is a standard tripod mount (1/4 thread) on the bottom. The battery life is really great. Seems to last for days without needing a charge. All in all, a really great buy if you have an expensive smart phone.

    Smooth Video... Check!

I usually take 4K video footage from my Samsung Note 8. It can be tough to get smooth looking footage while moving. The DJI Mobile Osmo 2 Gimbal gives me some nice looking angles and video footage. The Gimbal itself does not feel cheap, The controls are easy to use and it comes with a usb port to plug in your phone. Charging your phone might be difficult when using the gimbal doesn't seem realistic. Based on your phone, you will the gimbal so it is stable. The DJI GO app works really well. I especially like the tracking feature. The gimbal will follow an object that you select and move on its own to keep that object in frame. Overall, I would recommend this item to anyone looking to improve their videos.

Hey, Gary. Thanks for sharing your experience. You're correct in that digital stabilization available in smart phones is often limited in how much it can remove shake and jitter, which is what makes the Osmo Mobile 2 so powerful. With regard to charging while in use, although you are correct that it's not always an option depending on your setup, it's often possible to charge your phone when mounting it in the vertical orientation. (Just make sure you use a small and light cable to not interfere with the stabilization.) DJISupport

Needed to video grandson’s graduation however did not want a shakey hard to watch video for rest of family laster. Bought the night before, charged battery and balanced the iPhone in the gimbal. Instructions were easy to follow and there are a lot of video reviews if you want to see how the balancing is done. Downloaded the app and powered up the gimbal the did a few tests shots. Using the DJI app to select the point of interest to track made the video come out very smooth. A few bystanders asked me about the gimbal and voiced their intention to purchase one at Best Buy. Now looking for more opportunities to use the gimbal.

Worked well, but big and heavy

This unit worked well, and I liked it, but I returned it after a few days because it was too big and heavy for my convenient travel use. If you're trying to pack light, it was almost like bringing another pair of shoes. On the bright side, it was really rugged and well built, and it stabilized the phone through all kinds of movements and enabled easy thumb control of panning and zooming. I had been concerned about potential problems because my phones were not on the compatibility list, but the hardware clamps and software handled my Moto G5plus and unusual Kodak Ektra easily. I'm confident it would work with most phones, and there was no issue with micro-usb vs USB-C, since the app interface with the phone was Bluetooth. Contrary to some other reviews, the unit seemed to charge up quickly, and it turned out to be easy to mount the phones quickly, once you realized they had to start from a hanging position with the camera pointed directly down at the ground. If I had functional complaints, they would involve the multi-shot panorama mode, which resulted in a kind of fish-eye effect rather than a super big hi-res photo, and that I couldn't find a way in the software to change the aspect ratio, thus leaving it at 4:3 for photos rather than 16:9 which I wanted; I think it did do videos at 16:9, but I don't remember. Another minor issue was that it saved pictures to a proprietary directory of the app, but both Google photos and Amazon found them ok for backups, and it wasn't hard to find for other copying. Given those limitations, I would certainly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a quality stabilizer.

Cell phone videos only major flaw is stability, and this gimbal takes care of it. Unlike the Osmo with built in camera, this can be used as you upgrade your cell phone; making it future proof. It’s can be used without DJI app for those moments where you just want to shoot, but app does have some auto features that give you more control. Look no further; definitely a useful and inexpensive tool for any videographer. Only con is it can be a pain to carry around. I purchased a 3rd party streamlined case to solve this issue.

I purchased this DJI due to research and recommendations online. I was excited to get this and did not want to wait for delivery so I stopped by my local Best Buy and they had some in stock. The staff was able to give me advice on this product as well which was helpful. So far this product has worked well for me. I am a beginner in the videography world and it has been very user friendly as well as putting out great quality work for such a low price. I recommend this product for beginners!

Ask yourself. “Do I really need this product” I was extremely complicated to figure out how to set it up. The instructions for short. I had to YT it. Once you balance and set it’s easier the second time around. I took it with me to twitchcon however never really used it. So I ask you again. Do you REALLY need it? If you do then yes it’s a great product and amazing quality. However the set up was not the easiest (at first). Do I recommend it? Only if you NEED it.

Portrait mode is a pain but really good gimbal...

I purchased this to capture 4K video of behind the scenes photo shoots that I do and occasional videos if I’m not the main photographer. Landscape balancing is easy but the Portrait side of things is a hassle. With Instagram having IGTV and the usual selfie being in portrait mode you kind of need to shoot that way but the Osmo 2 has its flaws when it comes to getting that set up as easy as landscape. The motor hums a little too much if it’s not perfect and sometimes that usually leads to unbalanced video. I guess taking an extra few minutes to set up isn’t the end of the world but most of the time you don’t get a second chance to capture a moment with the same genuine emotion.

I wanted to try a gimbal for taking videos while on outdoor adventures. I narrowed my choice down to the OSMO Mobile 2 or the Zhyun Smooth 4 because of their integration with Filmic Pro for iOS. I had read reviews about both and for performance reasons chose the DJI. I works with my iPhone XS in the UAG Monarch case. The clamp is at its capacity and the phone in case isn’t as secure as I’d like. I may change cases since I am not that abusiveto my phone that warrants the case and I can pick one that better integrates with the OSMO. (This is because I don’t want to have to remove the phone from the case each time I want to use the gimbal.) Also, the phone/case combo is just u dear the OSMO’s maximum recommended weight. In operation this thing is wonderful. I can make shots that would be extremely difficult shooting handheld (flyover, sweep, shooting in motion. With practice I think I can even pull off a vertigo effect.) The DJI Go app adds functionality and customization. I can use the app to tune the zoom speed, the yoke controls among other options. The app also adds some cool effects like 9-shot super panoramas. You point the camera at a start point, press a button the move to the end point while leaving the OSMO stationary. Press go and let the OSMO move the camera, Thad a shot, move, shoot etc. when done you’ll have a fully stitched 9-shot super panorama. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention one bad experience I had. The camera mount slides in and out to provide balance adjustment. I had to return the first unit because the locking knob was frozen on the bolt in a loose condition. This happened after a few attempts to balance the phone. This is also where I’ll mention that each time you change from landscape to portrait mounting you must repeat the balance process. (I do not know if this is typical of all gimbals or specific to DJI.) All said and done I think I made a good choice with the OSMO Mobile 2. It’s going to allow this amateur videographer up his game!

By far this is the coolest thing in my room beside my computer, I bought this for me and my friends to use at the chicago auto show. And everyone was looking and little kids asking if I was a YouTuber. It’s super simple to use and makes great clips even on 30fps recordings. If your trying for jaw dropping recording, then obviously 60fps is a go to. Recording at 4K 60fps literally looks cinematic asf. And it’s actually at a great price. It was definitely worth my money.
