At $70 plus it's is a little more than most people would pay. But, when on sale, it is to good to pass up. I really like Dr. Who and the Blue Ray is Awesome even when played on my computer. Matt Smith and Karen Gillan (Amy) are among my favorite Dr. Who actors.

This series begins, in my opinion, the best episode arc of the whole show. We meet some brilliant historical figures, touch on some fascinating historical stuff, and plunge into the mystery that is River Song. Excellent!

Doctor Who series 5, the introduction of new doctor Matt Smith, is a fantastic addition to the already stellar series. New show runner Steven Moffat (who has undoubtably written some of the best episodes since the shows reintroduction in 2005) really has a grasp on how to balance the necessary wittiness and heartache that have become a staple of the show. I was initially afraid that Matt Smith would not be able to step out of the large shadow cast by previous doctor David Tennant, but his quirkiness and lightheartedness quickly made him a fan favorite and put all fears at ease. This season is also a great season to introduce someone who is not familiar with the series to, as the production values are a bit higher.

First entry into Dr Who and Pleasantly Surprised

This is my first foray into the Dr Who series and I have to admit I immediately fell in love with it. Such a great series! On the surface, my initial reaction was that it felt rather low budget but you get going, somewhere along the line, it captures you and you find yourself hooked. That's what happened to me at least. I literally couldn't stop watching it. The story is excellent and there are plenty of tender and heartfelt moments yet at the same time captures a strong sense of adventure and mystery. I cannot recommend this series enough. I'm only through my season but it's become one of my all-time favorite TV s hows.

    Matt Smith Makes An Entrance

Out with David Tennant in with Matt Smith. I was skeptical about the 11th Doctor after the 9th and 10th put on such a show. It took a few episodes for me to enjoy this. My eyes were fixed on the performance of Karen Gillan who played Amy Pond who gave her character a sass and attitude not seen since companion Sarah Jane. Some of the writing is lackluster and boring and at other times it can be exciting. Matt Smith's Doctor is a little childish and quirky so if you are into a more serious Doctor this might not appeal to you. What he lacks in that department he makes up for in sincerity and heart. The best of Matt Smith until the end of Series 7. If you keep watching Smith makes one of the greatest exits as a Doctor ever.

Doctor Who the Complete Fifth Series

The new Doctor Who makes quite an entrance as he goes through a regeneration that reigns havoc on the TARDIS and eventually crashes in the backyard of a young Amy Pond. The Doctor, played by Matt Smith the youngest actor yet to play the Doctor, arrives on the scene starving and frantically searches through Amy's kitchen for his favorite food. Hold onto your Fez because this Doctor has quite an adventure in store for us all.

So many enemies gather for the doctor in this set. Hard to decide part 1 or part 2 of this season. So glad I had, then wanted Matt smith collection and received digitally. Definitely prefer collection on digital. Stories and acting top notch. Gotta get them all. Part 1 became unavailable as did the collection from Best Buy.

I love Doctor Who and was so happy to see it on sale for such a low price! $20 for a whole season when I only ever see them for $70-$80! Even though you can watch through season 7 on Netflix, it is always nice to have the actual set of the episodes and bonus on Blu-ray for such a great price.

Was able to find this at a local Best Buy and was glad I did. Many stores sell this for double the price, or even split the season into 2 different sets of blurays. Best Buy had this in stock and for a very good price. Good show and gift for all Dr Who fans!

This doctor is definitely a switch up from the previous one! David Tennant was more serious and you could see his inner demons were affecting him. Matt Smith simply makes the Doctor even more quirky! Love the show, and would definitely recommend it!

I’m not sure if there are any differences in special features, but it’s worth noting there’s a standard blu ray case version of this series as well as a bigger nicer boxed version. Same price for both.

I personally am not a huge fan of Matt Smith, though that doesn't matter much. The set is put together well. The video and sound quality is great as well. After giving this season another shot though I can say I can't wait to see more

I am a fan from way back. It has always been fun. The characters are well fleshed out and mostly the plots are intriguing. You can forget yourself while watching Dr Who and feel childlike again. Adults and children can both enjoy it.

There are two reasons that I purchased this set of DVDs: 1) I'm a Doctor Who fan and 2) it contains ALL of the 5th series. Translation into American English: all of season 5. Other stores are selling Doctor Who in two parts.

I got this when it was on sale at BB for 19.99 and it was on blu-ray. The show is great. I used to catch it on PBS every now and then. Now I have the fifth season and I see the whole story unfold. HD quality is great. I think BBC does a great job of transferring the show to blu-ray. If you like the show and have a HD tv and blu-ray player it's definitely a must have.
