Finally successful on the third time the installers came. We had to prepare the space below the cabinet, but had not been told, nor had the installation info been shard with us prior to that time. On the third trip out, had to convince the guys that the space had been properly measured. They didn't know the product at all. Finally achieved success, but my 75 yo. husband spent many hours under the house, revising the electrical, the vent placements, the carpentry, etc. WE had previously had a down draft that needed to be replaced.
If we had known how complex it was, would have hired a contractor to make all of the modifications. The Best buy installers had no clue. There is an extra charge for the installation of a downdraft, but all these guys wanted was a spot to place it, and an outlet to plug it in. Not worth the extra charge unless they are actually prepared to install.

Love the love of it ! It sometimes freezes once it’s up. Not sure if it’s a problem with installation or the product. I’ll have to call Best Buy this week.

Good downdraft with much lower noise level than my previous unit. It came with the blower so it is much cheaper than unit that blower has to be purchased separately

Appliance Installation Teams Poor

Had four different teams come-out: One to measure; the second to botch the installation; the third to say they wouldn't touch the bad job their colleagues did; the fourth to uninstall the damaged or defective unit. Still waiting on a claim for damage to my vent duct inflicted by the installation team. I have another downdraft on backorder and a hole in my counter and floor (for over a month). My previous TV installation was great, but the appliance team seems to be hired from the itinerant labor pool that gathers in front of Home Depot, in the morning (I've met eight of them, so far, so I think that is a good sample). They are not the Geek Squad, just some semi-skilled contract laborers. Don't waste your time with them.

The product is Zephyr Sorrento 36" downdraft purchased in March 2020, installed (for the first time) in April 2020 and re-installed (replacement unit) in August 2020. (Purchase date listed is the order for replacement unit, not the original purchase). The problem was the bad cut in the granite countertop made during the 1st installation. Installer did not use the template provided with the appliance and cut opening too wide to support the side flanges of the unit. Result: terrible noise and vibrations across 12 ft of the countertop. Many hours lost on terrible customer support, No responses to repeated calls/emails, nobody acknowledging responsibility for the cutting error. Shifting blame to "faulty" unit. After the original unit was replaced (in August) with no effect on the issue, near total silence and avoidance of any communications/actions that could lead to problem resolution. As of today, this case is a property damage claim that may end up in small claims court.

The installers did a fabulous job. The GE telescoping downdraft was a replacement for an existing GE downdraft originally installed in the house when it was built probably around 2005. Despite the GE promise of a product replacement being an exact size fit, it wasn't because GE added some brackets that made the new downdraft too wide for the existing location in a center island with a granite top, the team that showed up put in a lot of effort and work around to figure out how to get the job done. I commend them for their effort.

I looked all over the internet for a replacement downdraft vent for my recently dead Broan vent. I was quoted so many prices for the hardware and then I had to do a separate search for independent installers. In the end Best Buy came through for me with a very competitive vent price and they took care of the installation for me ( for a very reasonable price). My new Zephyr downdraft is great. It works perfectly and the variable speed fan catches almost all of the cooking odors and sends them outside. Best Buy's install team did an excellent job as well.

The original installer came out to measure and for some reason marked us as delivered and complete which set off a string of downstream issues including 6 appointments, 5 of which didn't happen, over 3 hours on the phone with Best Buy support trying to get the issue resolved. At one point we were told the item was no longer in stock and would be a month or two out, so I cancelled the item and ordered through Best Buy website to pick up at their local warehouse. Hours of time were wasted because of the original issue and then the lack of customer service. Ruben on the Twitter Social team really came through and helped get this resolved in the end.

Exceptional Installation of Downdraft Vent

Cris from Quality Kitchens did an exceptional job of installing my new downdraft vent. The blower was configured differently than the previous one. Cris situated it perfectly and even covered the old hole in the bottom of the cabinet that was partly exposed from the previous configuration. He went above and beyond to ensure that the area was neat and clean. He also ensured that it worked properly after the install. He was respectful of my property and used a mat to cover my wood floors to protect them. Cris is professional, knowledgeable, friendly and a credit to his company. I would request him for future installs.

Although the vent itself works properly, the installation left a lot of room for improvement. There is a gap that allows loose food particles to fall into the unit. After a few attempts, the installer responded back that he can correct the problem for an additional fee. I agreed to pay what it takes to correct the problem. He has not been heard back from since.

A upgrade over the KitchenAid draft

Our appliance installer recommended this down draft after inspecting our kitchen prior to install of our new gas range. Based on the space, the KitchenAid downdraft we ordered would not fit, and he said this particular one rises higher, and requires less space, so we went with his recommendations. Even being a different brand than our gas range, it's not even something you would notice, and thus far, we're very pleased with how quiet and well it works.

Installers came out three times. First time they said we didn’t have a gas connection pipe. I didn’t recall needing for us to have this. Second time they said the gas connection pipe was too short. They never told us what length, we measured and thought it would be long enough. Third time they installed and said they’d come back to complete the installation when we had brackets to keep gas stovetop from moving. Seriously!!!
