While I could write a review of the film and this incarnation of it, I am not. I am writing to warn others of the mistake I made. If you see the pictures I posted and in the item description you will see that it lists that the product contains the digital copy. It does not! I could have bought the 4K blah blah… version on Black Friday but I chose to essentially pay full price for the 3D version and the Digital Edition. So when I opened the package and it was just the BluRay and 3D version I was quite upset. Please don’t be fooled by the misleading image of the product being sold. Upon further inspection I did notice that it said two versions of blu ray. It doesn’t list the digital copy. I want my digital copy. I want the version shown in the picture. Heck! I would be happy with 7.99 to buy it. I doubt they will have it for that price by the time I get a response. I movie was good, hopefully part two will be be better.

This review is purely based on the physical item, not on the movie itself. The holder for the disc was already broken upon arrival; however, there were no signs of damage due to shipping as the outside of the steelbook was not damaged in any way. See photos.

The movie is great. I am giving one star because of the confusing presentation here. It has the image clearly which clearly says "digital code" and my 3D blu-ray didn't come with the code (see pic).

I found this movie to be fascinating. The acting was excellent and the storyline was very interesting. Sometimes it moves slowly, but I thought it developed the characters very well and the special effects were breathtaking at times. The audio quality is absolutely amazing. It will definitely give you home theater AVR and speakers a run for their money. I highly recommend this movie.

When you have a 4k 85 inch television and a PS5 with the capacity for playing 4kUHD discs...You invest in hard copies!!! The difference is palpable and noticeable when comparing streamed 4K content versus the disc. When I saw this disc had gone on sale for just $10, it was destined to be mine. It was my wife's first time watching the movie at all, and for me the difference between watching it in this way compared to previously when we streamed it on the 65-in television was a far superior experience! We loved it! Shipping was fast and easy from Best Buy, in fact it took significantly less time than they originally estimated. Highly recommend.

Still love the original,but the action is great in the remake. Acting is great and special effects are awesome. The 4k is the way to watch.

I first visited Arrakis many years ago. Herbert's novel created a complex, layered story about a universe in which its entire existence was influenced by the scarcity of a single compound available from only one source. I was enormously pleased at how much this rendition of that story stayed faithful to its source material. If you liked the novel, you'll appreciate this movie. OTOH, if you're not familiar with the Dune universe, you might find it slow. Regardless, the acting is fine, the effects are superb, and the cinemaphotography is gorgeous.

Looks awesome on 4k! Better than the original movie. It probably helped that it is broken down into 2 movies. Also, able to do better special effects and CGI now.

I know this movie is only "half the story" (still waiting for the second half, which hits theaters in early 2024)...but, for those who've read the book, this is the best theatrical interpretation. The first version (also a theatrical release) was "entertaining" (it even co-starred Sting, and he did an outstanding job), but it wavered from the novel quite a bit...ESPECIALLY in regards to the ending. The second version, released as a Sci-Fi Channel miniseries, was extremely well-done, and included a truly remarkable cast...but, certain key elements were left out (I do, however, thank it, as it also brought the next two novels, "Dune Messiah", and "Children of Dune", to life). This latest version, while not without 'faults'to followed the novel closer than any previous version.

I love this movie!! And before Best Buy stopped selling films, I was able to add this to my collection! A terrific sci-fi film! Beautifully shot and superbly directed! Must see! Also, I know corporate decided to stop selling films, but I hope they will reverse their decision!

It looks great and stuck to the original script. I thought the acting was good. I felt there was too much dramatic “whoa look how big and grand everything is” moments. As if the audience should be amazed at what they are seeing. Instead of letting the story bring you in. Overall i enjoyed it. Was wanting to wait to purchase until part 2 was releasedbut $5 for a 4k couldnt resist

For some of us of a certain age the Frank Herbert Dune masterpieces of sci-fi literature had a very large impact in our childhood and young adult years. It inevitably launched or was a steppingstone along the way to a profound love of the highest levels of the genre including Asimov's Foundation series, Pohl's Gateway - Heechee sagas, Heinlein, Bradbury, Clarke and so much more. For most of us fans of the novels, Lynch's 1984 movie was at least some visualization brought to the screen. Of course, the movie was a failure commercially as it's quirkiness and mind-boggling world building alienated most audiences from the start. It took almost another 4 decades to get a second try at bringing this iconic work to screen. And Villeneuve has hit it out of the park with this 1st part (and 2nd part coming to screen next month with already rave reviews from pre-screeners as I type this). He clearly loves and respects the source material. With his solid work in Arrival and a respectful, on-point Blade Runner sequel he's become something of a sci-fi specialist. The choice of actors here is almost dead on. The state-of-the-art striking visuals and sounds hold to novel's requirements. It seems there is a near perfect balance between giving a non-fan something really amazing to experience and the hard-core fan of Herbert's novels something to plaster a grin from ear to ear. As I watched this it just "felt" like Dune. My eyes and ears were filled with some of the same images and sounds I had in my head some 45 years ago reading about them. Yes, some important characters are given short shrift. Some important scenes in the novel are missing or compressed but you only have 2 to 3 hours for each of these movie "parts". All in all, this is still quite an achievement. I can't wait to see part 2! And maybe even more parts down the line? This 4K Dolby Vision / Atmos disc is completely and totally demo reference material. Your screen will explode with vast vistas of color, texture and detail. Your speakers will roar and sing. Your subwoofers will shake the walls. If you are a legacy fan of this material, I can at least seriously recommend giving this a shot. You might just be blown away. If you are new to the world of Dune maybe rent / stream it first but then I think you'll still want to purchase this disc to enjoy multiple viewings! Truly a must own for the collection!

I really enjoyed the movie, however some fans of the original Dune from the 80s had varying opinions. I enjoyed it and even bought a copy of Dune 2.

Outstanding cinematography, visual effects, & acting except for Zendaya. She needs to bring her acting up to par with everyone else in Part 2, instead of just half assing it like she did in this one

This movie rocked my set up good. It looked and sounded like no other movie. The story was very good too

Beautiful home video transfer with a stacked array of excellent behind-the-scenes and making-of videos. As for the movie itself, it's epic and beautiful with a great feel for texture and color. It is simultaneously massive in scale and stark while also being naturalistic and immersive. Extremely solid and one of the better blockbusters of the last ten or so years.

The special effect and cinemaphotography are exceptional. This is a great remake of the classic Dune, but is really great.

Outstanding special effects, the actors and the acting was very well done. Looking forward to part 2 of Dune in November 2023!

Amazing movie and an amazing 4K disc. The audio track is amazing.
