It's almost like an art piece because people are intrigued by it when they see it and it becomes a focus of conversation. It does what it's supposed to which is to move air. You can obviously do this for much cheaper with traditional bladed fans. Overall, we're happy with the item and like the Dyson quality.

Our AM08 Pedestal fan has been re-engineered to be up to 75% quieter and more energy efficient, without compromising performance. The fan has re-engineered airflow paths for reduced air turbulence. This makes it quieter and more energy efficient. The machines have a number of new features such as remote control, sleep timer and improved oscillation. The motor bucket has been reengineered to reduce the journey the air takes, this has resulted in the machines having a higher airflow rate and greater energy efficiency.
Dyson’s latest Air Multiplier technology is recognized by the Noise Abatement Society and awarded the Quiet Mark. The Quiet Mark draws attention to the complex nature of sound. At 3 and higher..a bit louder than I would expect. It moves the air in the room. So far happy with the purchase. See what happens this summer when its hot.

The noise is not over powering and the amount of air that is pushed out is perfect. Plenty of power to cool off a large room when needed.

DYSON HAS MADE THE FAN A COOL CONCEPT. I'VE ALWAYS POSSESSED A RATHER DEEP INTEREST IN SCIENCE AND A RATHER CREATIVE IMAGINATION. EVEN SO, I HAD NOT IMAGINED THAT ONE DAY THERE WOULD BE A FAN THAT ACTUALLY OPERATES AS THE DYSON AM08 DOES, AND THE FACT THAT I NOW OWN IT KIND OF BLOWS ME AWAY. IT HAS A TINY REMOTE CONTROL, WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY THE SIZE OF A BASIC CELL-PHONE BATTERY, AND DYSON EVEN GAVE CONSIDERATION OF BEING ABLE TO ATTACH IT MAGNETICALLY TO THE FAN. THIS IS ONE GOOD WAY TO PREVENT THE LIKELY OCCURRENCE OF SUCH A TINY REMOTE FROM BECOMING EASILY LOST OR ACCIDENTALLY BROKEN, ETC. IT IS, ALSO, A CONVENIENT WAY OF KNOWING WHERE YOU HAD LAST LEFT THE REMOTE. EVIDENTLY, HIGH TECHNOLOGY OFTEN EQUALS HIGH PRICING, AND, WHILE YOU SAVE ON THE COST OF ENERGY CONSUMPTION, THE PRICING OF ALL SUCH DYSON FANS IS NOTHING LESS THAN EXORBITANT. IT'S NOT AS IF IT FUNCTIONED AS AN AIR-CONDITIONER. IF IT DID, I THINK EVERYONE WOULD AGREE THAT THE COST IS MORE THAN REASONABLE. HOWEVER, YOU MUST AGREE THAT IF YOU HAVE A CHILD OR A PET, OR VALUE YOUR OWN FINGERS, THE SAFETY ASPECTS OFFERRED BY A BLADELESS FAN IS POSITIVELY PRICELESS. EVEN SO, UNDERSTANDABLY, THE CUSTOMER NEEDS THE ABILITY TO AFFORD THIS EXPENSIVE INVESTMENT. A PLUS WORTHY OF MENTION IS, COMPARED TO THEIR PREDESSORS, THE NEWER MODELS RUN QUIETLY AND SMOOTHLY.
