Customers are saying

Customers find value in the powerful suction and effective carpet cleaning capabilities of this vacuum. Many appreciate its ease of use and the long cord, along with the useful attachments. However, some customers note that the vacuum is heavy and that the price point may be a concern for some buyers. The small dust canister also requires more frequent emptying.

Very disappointed it doesn't fit under cabinets.

Due to the front design it doesn't fit under any furniture or cabinetry ledges at all. Very poor design. A vaccum should be able to reach this space conveniently without the hassle of adding attachments.

Disgusts me seeing how much dirt I've missed

I don't know exactly where to start. I've owned a Sears, a Hoover, and an Electrolux (sadly, Electrolux isn't what is used to be). I researched and read reviews on at least 100 vacuums, watched unbiased youtube reviews, and talked to sales associates. After several months, I narrowed it down to the Dyson DC28 and the Miele Titan. I won't waste your time talking about WHY I chose the DC28 over the Miele Titan, but I can tell you I am happy with my DC28 As far as the DC28 goes, it truly does have incredible suction! We have a longhaired Australian shepherd who sheds hairs sometimes a foot-long, and we regularly have guests, and I admit I'm a clean freak and I vacuum once a day. Yet, with all that daily vacuuming, I was missing SO MUCH, it sickens me. I vacuumed my whole house right before I vacuumed with my DC28, and I filled the canister past maximum capacity, then halfway full again the next day. It's amazing all the dirt and dander and tiny particles that this vacuum kicked up, it was like a fine powder(see my photos above for proof). I also cleaned 1 level of my girlfriend's house, who has a Samoyed, and we filled the canister 5 times on a once over and emptied maybe 2 pounds of hair, dirt, dander and tiny particles (she uses an Oreck XL pro plus I believe). Despite other reviews, this vacuum is not difficult to maneuver; the incredible airmuscle technology suction that this machine has DOES make it *different* to maneuver at first, but I got used to it after a half hour. The machine is stiff at first but if you buy something new, that's very common (mine loosened up after a few days). The 4 height options are bare floor (lowest/no beater brush), low-pile, medium pile, and high pile. I have medium carpet and use it on the low pile setting to really get that beater brush down in the carpet! My carpets look freshly shampooed everyday. You can feel the suction power in your hand, like using a shopvac in the garage-you know you're getting it all! This machine also has a huge 35 foot power cord that is soft and easy to wrap up on the back of the vacuum, with a strong clip to secure the cord. For floor cleaning of any kind, it's superb. As far as the tools go, it comes with four which I will go over. The MINI TURBINE HEAD(retail 70 bucks separate) works great for cleaning the mattresses, cloth bean bags (lovesac/cordaroys), cloth furniture, small hard to reach spots between furniture, and stair cleaning (attaches to the pop out handle connected to the 17 foot vac hose-perfect for cleaning the whole staircase without moving the machine). Second, it comes with the FLAT-OUT TOOL(retails 50 bucks separate) and this is great for vacuuming under tables, chair legs, and under furniture when attached to the pop out wand. It also comes with a CREVICE TOOL which is a combo STIFF BRUSH TOOL, as well as a soft, wide angled tool with soft fuzz on the bottom to carefully clean delicate surfaces or furniture. The HEPA filter is easy to wash, just rinse it out every 3 months, let it dry for a day then pop it back in and keep cleaning!

    Powerful vacuum

This vacuum has a lot of suction power - so much in fact it is difficult to vacuum small area rugs without them getting pulled up from the floor. Since I have mainly throw rugs and not really any fully carpeted rooms, the greatest feature for me of this vacuum (other than the suction power), is all of the attachments. I can reach just about anything with the attachments. I do think, however, they could have made the attachments a little sturdier. Also, the vacuum is extremely heavy and cumbersome so you get quite a workout when vacuuming the entire house! I have a lot of pets, so the attachments allow me to reach all of the areas I need to in order to vacuum up all that pesky fur! The cord is nice and long so I only have to switch plugs once during vacuuming. Emptying the dirt compartment is a snap, too. Overall, I think this vacuum is really good, I also think that the fact that it is a Dyson, they could have improved on a few areas.

I have always wanted a Dyson but it was never in my budget. I happened to be looking on Best Buy and saw they were running a sale on it so I grabbed one up. I love it! It is so powerful and easy to operate. I actually enjoy vacuuming now because the house looks so nice and clean when I'm done. The cord is very long which makes it easy to go from room to room. It's a little heavy to go up the stairs with but otherwise I love my Dyson!

Everybody knows that Dyson makes arguably the best household vacuum cleaners on the market. I have owned everything from store brands, to bissels to Kirbys, and nothing even compares to this Dyson. The cleaning power is tremendous, there is never any loss of suction, it's lightweight, and easy to empty. The attachments are so easy to use that I'm almost offended by how much of a pain other vacuums were. I was concerned about purchasing a Dyson because of the plastic construction, even though I've known a number of people who said it was great. I made the plunge because BestBuy offered a price that was hundreds of dollars lower than anyone else was offering! This thing is durable! I'm shocked by the stoutness of the plastic construction. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a quality vacuum cleaner.

Found a dog in our carpet!

OK, spending ~$600 on a vacuum was hard to stomach. But our old Hoover Windtunnel was just not getting all of the dirt up and was starting to smell when being used. I'd been looking at a Dyson, but just didn't know about the cost vs. benefits. After talking with a few friends and reading reviews, we decided to try it out. We have a golden retriever that spends 80% of her time in the house - so I knew we had dog hair everywhere. Little did I know we'd find a puppy in our carpet! Brought this Dyson DC28 home today after church. Started off in the living room; which, by the way, I had just vacuumed less than 48 hours ago with the Hoover. Now we are not a dirty family by any means, I would say a little less than average to average filth. But by the time I had revacuumed the living room, I had to empty the canister 3 times! Now granted, one of the only negatives (which really isn't a negative) I have about the unit is the small canister capacity. Moving on to the rest of the house (3 bedrooms and stairs), I had to empty it 3 more times! I love the fact that their are no main filters that have to be replaced - this will be a great $$$ saver in the long run. It does have one washable filter they recommend cleaning once a quarter. I also love the backing of a 5 year warranty! We've only gotten 2.5 years out of our last 2 units (Kenmore and Hoover). I also love the easy "dumping" action of emptying the canister. I would recommend this vacuum without any reservations!!! Definitely worth the money if you ask me!

The other reviews nailed this vacuum. It performances great, the features are amazing. The attachments are great, very long cord, long extension. And I haven't even mentioned the sale price. Even if its full price it's worth the investment. Why buy 4 vacuums when this one is better?

I bought this because it was on a great sale and I had always heard about how great Dyson vacuums were. Now I am a believer as well. I have 2 long haired indoor cats, 1 cat that goes in and out, and 2 large breed dogs. In addition live out in the country with horses and this vacuum works like a dream. My dogs continually track stuff in the house and I always seem to be covered in hay and dust and all of this is taken care of with this vacuum. At first I was questioning it but after the first week all doubts were erased. This vacuum picked up everything and made the carpets nice and fluffy but without damage. I would highly recommend spending the money for this vacuum if you have high traffic.

Love that you can see all the stuff you suck up. Makes me feel like things got clean! Also love the super long cord - can vacuum multiple rooms without having to stop and adjust. Very easy to dump dirt container. A little heavy but not unmanageable or troublesome.

    You Can't Beat a Dyson

We bought our Dyson after a friend who had one offered to run it over our carpets after we vacuumed with our previous unit. The amount of dirt that was not picked up by our vacuum was shocking. It was an easy sell. Since getting our Dyson, we have been very happy with it. It is very well made, which causes the only downfall if you want to call it that is that it is a heavy unit, so when my wife tries to us it on the stairs, it is a bit bulky, however the pull out extension from the handle can fix most of the issues where you would need to carry it. I know the Dyson brand in general is a bit more expensive, but it is very much worth the money if you want a solid vacuum that's going to last and offer the best in cleaning power.

More powerful than my old Dyson, this new, different model picked up half a cylinder of fluff/ hairs that the older Dyson had left behind that very same morning. It leaves my carpets looking fresh and new. I love the wide flat head attachment that slides under furniture. I like the longer length of cord. I like the way it 'self propels' itself. I was extremely lucky to get this model with huge savings at Best Buy, or I would not have been able to afford this model.

    Reliable Vacuum Cleaner

I bought this as my first Dyson, which I had read was the best vacuum cleaner made. It probably is. After being misled by CR about a mid-priced vacuum cleaner that could not pick up loose hairs or anything, I decided that I would spend the extra money to have a real vacuum cleaner, and I do not regret it. It picks up everything. However, this model did not come with motorized wheels, so it takes a lot of strength to push it because of the strong suction power. It also does not have Dyson's patented ball design, but I did not want that anyway. If you are old, or not very strong, or perhaps disabled, this would not be a good vacuum cleaner for you. You should get a motorized Dyson instead.

I was a little skeptical at first. Then my husband said to leave our 6 month old puppy out while we ran to the store. Well, we came back to him getting into the christmas baking goods. There was a 5lb bag of flour from one end of our apartment to the other. 5 lbs of sugar, 3 bags of powdered sugar and a bag of brown sugar. This was our worst nightmare. The dyson handled it like a champ. There was no kick back of sugar particles, no loss of suction, no clogging of the fliters. We ran it over the carpet 3 times, and was longer getting flour out after the second round. Needless to say, I fully believe if i had been using my old vacuum it would have been a different outcome for the carpet and my day. I was also glad I purchased it when it was on sale, 20% off!!

I love my Dyson vaccuum. The suction is fantastic and it looks very nice. The price remains a bit high. I wanted a ball Dyson, but couldn't afford it. The accessories are difficult to use, and it is very heavy. I have arthritis in my hands which also makes it very difficult to use. Please Dyson, I love your products, but could you work on your price ans even more so, think about older folks who have arthritis.

Bought when our other vacuum exploded, was on sale for 379.99 down from 650 and it came with the allergy cleaning kit so the value was there for me. Have been super pleased with it so far and my parents bought one after they saw ours, per my recommendation. Leaves nothing behind in our carpet and does every other task we throw at it very well. All in all the best vacuum we have ever owned.

I have a hard time with my in-house vacuum system. The hose is too heavy and doesn't reach everywhere. This vacuum goes everywhere, is easy to push and picks up so much dirt, lint, dust etc and I could really tell the difference when I checked out my carpet. I just love this vacuum and wish I had bought it sooner. I have arthritsis in my hip and find this vacuum is easy for me to use---this was very important for me!!!

Even though the weight is much, I love the way it picks up the dirt.I was amazed when I first tried a sampling of the vacuum when I brought it home. I did a small area and looked in the canister, wow. (No I don't keep that dirty of a house, lol). When I saw the sale price on the Dyson vacuum, I new this was my oppurtunity to own one. Now, to see how long this vacuum will last, without any problems or loss of power.

This vacuum is wonderful for all surfaces and is able to get almost everything we want off the floors. It's a Dyson, so you're getting some great cleaning power, but there are some features that makes this a bit difficult to use for certain situations. We bought this mainly to pick up the short hair left from our dog. The needle-like fur finds itself all over the floor and on the couch/sofa. The pet attachment has a rotating brush to be used at the end of the extension. The problem with the brush is that it's suction powered (not electrically powered), so if you make the seal on the furniture the brush tends to stop spinning. We've found the stair attachment to perform better. The extension, that is conveniently hidden in part of the vacuum venting when not in-use, is a bit difficult to use as it's long, rigid attachment has a flex tube connected to the vacuum that recoils the main part of the vacuum when you're trying to stretch it to reach (in my case) furniture. It's mildly annoying, but i'm learning to live with it. Switching between surfaces is a breeze, the weight isn't that bad (lighter than our last upright), and the noise is very acceptable. The venting for the vacuum is also placed near the top of the handle and it avoids blowing dust/dirt with its design (clever). It has two washable filters as well as an easy to use canister for dumping. That being said, i would NOT buy this vacuum at full price. We paid just over $200 with a sale and a $75 gift card. It was barely worth it at this price point.

Replaced my old Oreck with this vacuum and I was amazed at how much my old vacuum missed. I had to dump the bin 10 times the first time I ran it and the bin is a standard bin plus I only have about 1000 sq feet of carpet. Dysons are expensive I know but this was on clearance and not much more than my Oreck was . Simply put though get a dyson they are worth it for this amazing floor.

I've wanted a Dyson for quite some time but didn't want to spend $500+ on one. Found this one on sale for $270 and snatched it up. It has incredible suction power and is GREAT for things like dog hair, etc. It has an extra long cord which is a HUGE plus, not having to change plugs. It is SUPER easy to dump as well! I really love this vacuum and would highly recommend it!
