This Dyson is amazing. In regular mode it feels like a full vacuum cleaner. To do small kitchen rugs have to put it on ECO THAT’s how powerful. Also love I do not have to empty the canister multiple times when vacuuming. The canister is extra large. And also comes with two batteries. The vacuum is definitely a bit heavier and the only bummer unlike previous Dyson model I had, there are two different heads to interchange for floor types. It doesn’t automatically switch between carpet and wood.

If you have a dig that sheds ( i have a 1yr old black lab) invest in the gen5 outsize. I bought it because i got tired of sweeping constantly, with all the dust and dog hair. So this was my investment and gift to myself. I was in between this model and the v15. I mainly use it for heavy traffic areas in the house, the living room, dinining room and main entrance walk way. Living and dining room are a pretty decent size. Sucks up all the dirt on both hard wood floor and carpet. Only con is the weight, but i chose larger bin over the weight. When h saw the v15 in person the bin looked way small. Overall 8.5/10

This Dyson - Gen5 Cordless Vacuum is what I needed as I already have an iRobot vacuum for my carpeted areas. The Dyson works amazingly on hardwood floors and carpets. I previously had the Dyson Canister Ball for years, but it was time for an upgrade and this Gen5 addresses my needs for crumbs/dust, etc., on hardwoods. I used it about 6-8 times, and everything works as advertised. The canister is plenty for what I use it for, and the multiple heads are great. I typically get all my needs addressed on one Battery; Having the second battery is ideal for bigger homes and spaces.

I Absolutely love this vacuum, after not being pleased with my last 2 Shark vacuums I decided to bite the bullet and purchase a Dyson and holy cow am I glad I did. The absolute best vacuum I’ve ever bought. We don’t have any carpet all vynil flooring so the smaller soft head with it’s green dirt finding light is amazing, it does however take both batteries to clean our 2300 sq ft home but thats to be expected since we have 5 dogs and 2 cats. Would without a doubt make this purchase again.

The wheels keep popping off. The first time the wheel popped off during the first use. I got a replacement and the wheel just popped off again. I've owned Dyson vacuums since at least 2004. The suction is great but the rest of the system is made out of plastic--very expensive plastic. Out of 7 machines I've owned, 3 have been cordless vacuums and I think after this I am done with dyson and going back to my classic metal Electrolux canister. This machine is a pretty heavy but still east to maneuver and there are tons of accessories. The build quality is trash. For $1200.00 you know you are buying overpriced plastic that has excellent suction.

I love this vacuum! This thing is picking up stuff my V15 could only dream of. Here I was, cleaning my office floor.. admiring the power of this 1k vacuum! Cleaning, going, charging, all these wonderful things... All of a sudden, boom! The wheel breaks off, now here I am, seeing it has a screw top that maybe, just maybe I can fix it... Is it fixable? nope, this pencil lead thing screw complete broke off. Now you are probably saying, chris, you can still drive it. Well, like a bike.. you need both wheels, a wheelchair will not wheel without 2! As I sob on this Sunday Evening, I want you all to think twice about this insane machine. Think bout the Dyson support that is always, none existent... The power is mighty, the screws are not!

The Dyson Gen5outsize is my first vacuum from this brand. I choose this model because I liked that it was cordless and has a lot of suction power. The unit comes with three roller heads: the Fluffy Optic, Digital Motorbar XL, and Hair screw, as well as two wand attachments: a combination wide nozzle/brush and narrow dusting/crevice tool which is built into the extension wand. I like that it also included two batteries with their own chargers, so you can charge both at the same time as well as a “Wall dok,” to hang the unit up to charge when not in use. While there is a MyDyson app, this machine isn't smart and won't connect with it. It's primarily used for registering the device for warranty purposes and quick access to instructions, support, and purchasing accessories. The main motor unit looks a bit futuristic, like a handheld canon, and weighs just under 6 lbs with the battery installed. I love the color of the wand with its bold, blue, matte-aluminum finish. The clear dust bin can hold up to 0.5 gallon of debris, and you can watch the dust and hair as it piles up inside. Since there is a washable HEPA filter installed on the back of the motor housing, the finest of dust particles and even viruses will be trapped as the unit exhausts clean, filtered air. When emptying the bin, you point the end of it into a trash bin or bag and slide the release tab downward and the contents of the dust bin drops away from you, reducing the amount of spillage and cross-contamination. Assembly is pretty simple. Just click the wand into the port in the middle of the dust bin and then attach your desired tool to the end of it. All detachment points are indicated by red release buttons or tabs for easy identification. When assembled, the unit is 45 - 50 inches long depending on with tool you use. All the attachments can also be assembled directly to the main motor too, for a more compact size to fit in small or tight spaces. I found this especially useful on couches, bedding, and stairs. There is no trigger at the handle that you have to hold down; instead the motor powers on/off by pressing the power button on the LCD facing you on the back of the motor. The display is bright and gives you a color-coded readout of the number of particles you are actively capturing, categorized by size. This is possible thanks to a Piezo sensor that continuously measures and counts the number of particles picked up and allows the unit to automatically adjust suction power while in Auto/Medium mode to meet demand by increasing suction power when necessary. The particle counter is almost like keeping score in a video game and will display a total when you’ve finished your cleaning session; in fact, when I told my 9 year-old nephew that, he jumped at the opportunity to beat my “highscore” by offering to vacuum all around the house. If you want constant suction power, you can select Eco and Boost modes by pressing the silver button on the LCD. Just note that Boost mode will cause the unit to run louder and reduce the run-time of the battery to about 7 minutes of continuous use, which is indicated by a countdown timer on the screen, while Eco mode is quieter and gives you more battery life, up to 70 minutes on a full charge. The “Wall dok” comes with plastic anchors and screws for wall mounting, and you can install one of the chargers into the base of it, so that the vacuum charges while docked. You can store up to two accessories on the dock, though the rollers aren’t a great choice as they’ll block the second storage slot. You can also charge the batteries on their own, as the charger simply plugs into the front of them. Small blue lights on the battery blink while charging, though if charged while installed in the motor, you can view the charge percentage on its LCD by pressing the power button. The unit cannot be turned on and operated while the battery is charging, which takes about 4.5 hours if fully depleted. My favorite attachment is the Fluffy Optic brush bar because it has this cool green laser beam that it shines at an angle across your floor to highlight hidden dust particles that are otherwise invisible to the eye. This helps me find and target areas that need cleaning and avoid going over areas multiple times that are already clean while also making the process kind of fun. My second favorite is the Hair screw, which does a nice job picking up and removing long hairs dropped by pets, loved ones, shag carpets, costume wigs, and your favorite taxidermy pieces without having to constantly stop to untangle or cut wrapped hairs. It’s tapered conical design “guides” the hairs down towards the empty space towards the small end where the hairs can then promptly be sucked into the bin, which works fairly well. While I’m ranking the Digital Motorbar XL cleaner head third, I still think it performs quite well. There’s a sliding adjuster in the front that allows you to block off vents to reduce airflow and increase suction (+) for hard floors and heavy soiled rugs and carpets, or open these vents (-) for delicate flooring or deep pile rugs. For everything else you can simply leave the setting in the middle. All of the heads disassemble for cleaning and maintenance, and the roller brushes are washable. You can also remove the HEPA filter by twisting it counter-clockwise and detach the dust bin for washing. Just be sure to hand wash and fully air dry washable parts for 24 hours before you use them again, as none of them are dishwasher-safe and using damp parts may damage the unit. Overall, the Dyson Gen5outsize is a cleaning powerhouse that is adaptable to a variety of cleaning jobs from floors to furniture. The unit is fairly light for a cordless stick vacuum with such a long runtime, though personally I found it tiring to wield it for more than 30 minutes of continuous use; with the two batteries, you can use it for up to 140 minutes. The included attachments cover many uses, though there are even more accessories you can purchase separately. The display is bright and easy-to-read and shows you alerts if there is an issue like an obstructed airway, low battery, or high/low ambient operating temperatures.

Like A Transformer With Surprising Suction Power

This thing is a beast. I honestly didn’t think something that was wireless would have this much suction power. It is close to having the same as my beast wired vacuum. Which means this could easily be your only vacuum. As it can do everything. One of the tests I do with wireless vacuums is vacuum my whole house, then go back over it again with my hardcore wired vacuum to see what was left. With this guy, it barely picked up anything (see picture). Which was super impressive to me. Also, leaves nice lines. It comes with two batteries, and I got about 45 minutes of runtime per battery. I think the 140-minute runtime they report must be Eco Mode for both batteries as I wasn’t getting anywhere near that. My testing was primarily carpeted areas (which uses higher suction power and therefore, uses more battery), stairs, and tile in about a 2200 square foot home where I used all of one battery along with probably 30 – 50% of the second. But I made sure that my house needed a vacuum before testing. On “auto mode” it dynamically adjusts suction power in real time depending if the vacuum registers a heavily soiled area, being on carpet, or hardwood. This helps not only with cleaning but provides a longer run time. I never noticed any reduction in power even at lower battery levels. But once you run out of battery it will just turn off. Which I would prefer over less performance. Additionally, you can choose Eco Mode which reduces the suction but give you closer to 60 minutes of runtime (and is great for small rugs or hard floors), Auto which dynamically adjusts based on what I mentioned above, or Boost that puts suction on max (which is significant) but burns through battery FAST. To the point I’d expect maybe 15ish minutes of use (but didn’t test all that much). It would be cool to have a hybrid option where you plug in a cable to have increased suction without concern for the battery. Perhaps in a future model. The Motorbar XL Cleaner Head for carpet/hard floors attachment is 25% bigger than your typical wireless vacuum head which makes a surprising difference in how much you can clean in the same amount of time. However, the tradeoff for that increased size is that those hard-to-reach places that are small may not be able to get hit as easily. I have two dogs which shed quite a bit and didn’t notice any tangling whatsoever so the tech they have for that seems to be working well. This automatically adjusts power depending on soil level, carpet, or hard floors. As it has a sensor inside it similar to the FLuffyOptic Cleaner head below. The FluffyOptic Cleaner Head is probably my favorite part of this vacuum. It is made for hard floors. It has a light at the end of it that does an awesome job at illuminating any hair, particles, debris, dust, etc. Which not only makes vacuuming more fun (as it feels like a game) but more effective. As you can easily tell the spots you need to hit and the spots that you can avoid maximizing your time while providing a better clean. This light is not on any other attachment (such as the Motobar XL Cleaner Head) which is unfortunate. When it picks up a lot of debris the vacuum will increase in suction power as well. This is perfect for picking up pet hair. The bin size is obviously XL on this model. Which is beneficial if you’re using it as a main vacuum or picking up a lot of hair or similar. As you don’t have to empty as often. However, adds some extra weight (about 1 – 2 lbs. depending on model and other size of bin you’re comparing to, with a total weight of ~8.6 lbs.) and bulk to the vacuum making it a bit harder to manipulate when changing out attachments, cleaning stairs, or using certain attachments. But I do like how the emptying system works as you just dump it right into the trashcan without having to remove it and I spill a lot less dust. And you don’t have to buy bags as you can just clean the bin and HEPA filter system. Which I like from a long-term monetary standpoint. The whole machine HEPA filter seems to work well. Where I don’t notice any leakage anywhere or blowing air out a particular side. Where with previous vacuums if I’m vacuuming on the wrong side it can blow a bunch of air pushing the particles I’m trying to clean into the air. The built-in dusting and crevice tool is neat. As it pulls out from the normal long tube like a transformer and makes you feel awesome. While this attachment can connect to the end of the long tube, the long tube can’t connect to the vacuum without it. Which means if you need to grab something far away you can’t with the fine tool without buying it separately. The Hairscrew tool is like any other one that I've tried. I use it primarily for cleaning off desks, mousepads, bedspreads, stairs. Which it does well. But is a lot louder than the rest of the attachments as the RPM’s are higher. In general noise level with the other attachments is less than I’d expect and quieter than other vacuums I’ve tried. I didn't use the Combination Tool. As it just seems like a wider version of the built-in dusting and crevice tool. I would have preferred a different attachment. Overall build quality is fantastic. Where everything feels solid and well put together. If you buy additional attachments, they are very expensive. Which is unfortunate. But this comes with almost all of them you would need. I like that it comes with two chargers so you can charge both batteries at the same time. Also, the Wall Dok is awesome. Where if you want you can hang it on the wall, which will hold the vacuum, attachments, and charge the device at the same time so it is always ready for you. Battery removal feels awesome like I'm reloading. Which again, makes it more fun to use. Overall, this vacuum is awesome. It is incredibly expensive. But constantly impresses me with the performance along with function. As you can tell they spent a lot of time thinking things out to make it a better device. Which as a consumer I greatly appreciate. PROS: - Motobar XL Cleaner Head is bigger which reduces the amount of time it takes to vacuum by a noticeable degree. The light on the FluffyOptic Cleaner Head makes it easy to pick up dust and hair on hardwood. The built in crevice tool makes it feel like a transformer. - Three modes (Eco, Auto, Boost). Auto dynamically adjusts based on hardwood, carpet, or soiled area. Which is epic. - I got about 45 minutes of runtime per battery (90 minutes). Unlike the advertised 140 minutes. Which must be Eco Mode. - Vacuum counts and measures size of particles automatically when vacuuming which is shown on the LCD in real time. Which tells you when an area is clean or not by a more objective standard over using just your eyes. But did notice that carpet tended to run higher all the time no matter what. But we have old carpets. - XL Bin is nice to have. Empties straight into the trash. Can clean so no additional bags needed. But adds extra weight and makes the whole device more cumbersome. - HEPA filter works well. Can be cleaned as well. - Great build quality. - 2 batteries with two chargers is appreciated. - Comfortable handle. Easily rolls. Joints have good movement. - Feels high tech, quality, and like a transformer. Which makes vacuuming more fun. - Hyperdymium Motor is seriously impressive and provides impressive suctioning power. Especially, for a wireless device. CONS: - Motorbar XL Cleaner Head is bigger and due to that limits some hard-to-reach places. - Cool Optic light is only on the FluffyOptic Cleaner Head. - XL bin adds extra weight and makes device more cumbersome. So be aware of that trade. - Additional attachments are expensive. As is the device itself. Make sure to look at attachments before buying a lower end model. As if you are buying additional attachments you spend more buying it separately. - Slightly heavy at 8.6 lbs. For what it is, it isn’t a bad weight. But enough to notice when vacuuming the whole house. - Two button operation. You power it on with top button along with activating/deactivating suction. Bottom button switches modes. But isn’t in a convenient place so when vacuuming need to use two hands to operate. Some way to make this one handed would be appreciated. Granted most other vacuums don’t auto adjust so having more manual control isn’t needed. - Charge time of batteries takes multiple hours. I think they report 4.6.

The Gen5outsize is a powerful cordless vacuum with a great feature set! Design The Gen5outsize looks similar to other cordless vacuums I've seen. There is a canister to hold the dirt on the unit near the handle where the motor and battery are. There is a power button and a mode button to switch between "Eco" (low), "Auto", and "Boost" settings. It even has a color screen that shows run-time remaining and a real-time analysis of particles being vacuumed as well as which mode you select. There is no trigger button or switch, which mostly doesn't matter, but does mean I need to use one hand to hold the vacuum and another hand to turn it on/off or to change modes. There are other elements of the design that are worth mentioning. Two of the attachments have a built-in brush that you slide up/down as needed. I like this because it's one less piece to loose or to keep with you. One of those two attachments actually fits in the main shaft that goes to the floor roller attachments. I really like that integration! Suction This vacuum has excellent suction. Besides it being capable of high power, the "Auto" mode works great, throttling up and down based on how dirty the floor is, saving battery life. As mentioned above, you can set it to "Boost" if needed but I haven't used that much. I did find "Boost" useful sometimes when using it as a handheld vacuum especially. So, I'm glad it's powerful and generally manages its power on its own. Display The main handheld unit has bright, color display that shows the time remaining, which is awesome, as well as the power setting when it's selected. It also has real-time particle analysis which I'll talk about later. The display is not large but a reasonable size and very easy for me to see the time remaining and bars on the particle graph while I'm vacuuming. Real-Time Particle Analysis Ok, my words, not theirs, but it's pretty crazy, this is what it's doing - It doesn't tell you exaclty what your cleaning up but it shows a bar graph of what is being picked up in four size groupings, smaller to larger particles. The bar goes up and down in real-time as you vacuum. This is actually useful because once you see there are no more particles coming up, you know you have a spot that is clean - or no more dirt is coming up. Not only that, but somehow it gives a particle count, yes, a very large number, of how many particles it's collected. While I don't know about the accuracy at least it gives an idea of the size of particles that are being collected and you can see if its more smaller or larger particles. Attachments - There's even a laser!!! There are plenty of attachments. I like the way the main floor roller for carpet is very wide. It works well to cover a large surface area quickly. It also has three high adjustment levels, which have been adequate for the surfaces I've used it on. There's also a roller for hard floors which is a very different design. It's more narrow, left to right, and smaller in general. The cool thing is it has a green light laser, to make dirt show up on hard surfaces. I thought it sounded like a cool idea but didn't expect it to work very well - but it does! I was very surprised at how well it worked. I'm including a before and after picture of a tile floor. I even used it on a glass bathroom scale and was surprised how much dirt it had on it and it did a good job cleaning it. There is another small roller designed for sofa's and steps that's made to handle pet hair well. I don't have pet hair around but it did a nice job cleaning a sofa, fabric chairs, and steps with carpet on them. I also mentioned some other attachments above. There is also a wall mount it comes with that can hold two attachments and can have a power cord run into it to easily charge a battery when you hang up the vacuum. It also helps that they include a second power cord so it doesn't need to be removed from there even if you take a power cord with you when you take the vacuum somewhere. It's also nice to have a second power cord since it includes two batteries! Weight It's heavier than others I've used but it feels more powerful than other's I've used. The weight is balanced in a way so that pushing it doesn't feel bad for general use as an upright vacuum being pushed on the floor. I notice the weight more when carrying it up and down stairs, or when holding it up as a handheld vacuum. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather carry this up and down stairs than any corded vacuum that I've used, but holding it up high as a handheld vacuum to get vents an a wall or ceiling for example, can get tiring more quickly than with others I've used, but I don't do that very often and it's typically for short times. Control The control is noteworthy because you can turn this thing very sharply with ball-like joint it has where the shaft meets the floor roller. The fact that the "Auto" mode works so well also helps make control easier, or require less thought. There is the high adjustment to consider as you vacuum. There is not light on the main floor roller to see in dark areas under objects or in corners as you vacuum. At least the display always shows you if it's picking up anything but you can't necessarily see it before you vacuum it up. Also, because the roller attachments are low profile and because of the design of that ball-like joint, you can get very low to the floor and way under low clearance areas. Battery life I would say the battery life is very good. While actual battery life varies depending on how much power it needs to use it helps immensely that there is a readout showing the estimated time remaining. This along with the fact that it comes with a second battery and even a second charger make all the difference. When starting it usually says something like 43 minutes. Vacuuming a very dirty carpet I got more like 20 minutes on a battery but it did an great job and I was able to gage my vacuuming based on the time it said I had remaining and knowing I had a second battery. I was easily able to complete what I wanted to and had power to spare every time. And if I really needed long battery life, I can just use it on Eco. A few other things It has a washable HEPA filter. I wish every vacuum did! The canister that holds the dirt is very large. It's also easy to empty, and when you do empty it forces dust out and downward with the whole container shifting downward as it opens - very cool design! Summary There are lighter vacuums but this is powerful and loaded with great features. The biggest downside to me, the weight, is offset but the biggest upside, the power and features. The battery life is great, and I think the overall package with everything that's included and the crazy feature set is excellent. They could have added a light for the main carpet roller attachment but I like being able to see as the carpet is getting closer and closer to being clean on the display. The time countdown for the battery life is awesome.

The best cordless vacuum we have ever owned

Verdict: Wow! The Dyson Gen5outsize vacuum is amazing. It impresses with its exquisite design, strong performance, ultra quiet operation, and innovative technology. This has become the go-to vacuum for everything in the house and the cars. You know you have a winner when your wife says “wow” at least five times while vacuuming the kitchen! Setup. When delivered, the box seemed a bit small for a vacuum, but that was because everything was packed very efficiently in the box, wasting almost no space. While a quick reference card was included, assembly was quick, easy, and intuitive. Included in the box are the main vacuum with motor, two batteries and two charging cables (awesome!), the stick extension, a carpet attachment, a hardwood attachment, a rotating small brush attachment, and a small brush attachment. ` Initial impressions. This thing is beautiful! Yes, I am writing about a vacuum! It’s designed beautifully, with a nice color scheme, a cool LED screen on the back, and really convenient features, such as the pop-out crevice tool & brush that lives in the stick attachment, and the dust ejector button that actually moves the dust collection container forward to get hair or other debris out of the container. The batteries arrived partially charged, so we could try out the vacuum right away! The vacuum is quite light and easy to maneuver, and it is unbelievably quiet. There is no “on” trigger on this vacuum; to start, you just press the power button. Batteries. The Dyson Gen5Outsize comes with two batteries and two charging cables, which is really nice. The battery loads just under the handle. On hardwood, the screen shows that it will last about 50 min, and for high-pile carpet the screen shows about 40 minutes. The vacuum does ramp up when it encounters more dirt or a clump of hair, so actually usage may vary. Having two chargers is amazing. We mounted one charger on the wall attachment so that the vacuum can charge while stored on the wall, and we can use the second charger to charge the other battery in a different part of the house, or next to the wall mount when we know we have a big job to do. Suction. On the medium setting, suction is good and sufficient for most cleaning. On “boost,” suction is impressive, maybe even comparable to the shopvac we use to clean the cars! Usually, portable vacuums offer convenience at the expense of suction power. Of course, battery life is shorter on boost mode, but it is well worth the increase in power to accomplish a specific task. I was reluctant to use cordless vacuums to clean the cars but now I can use this Dyson on boost and take care of a small mess in the car in just a few minutes! No suction compromise with this vacuum! It’s awesome. Hardwood. Most of the flooring in our house is hardwood so we were most interested in trying the Fluffy Optic cleaner head for hardwood. Most impressive for us out of all the amazing features of this vacuum is the green angled light! Wow! The laser shows every spec of dust, dirt, hair, or particle on the floor. You can see exactly what you are vacuuming and where you have cleaned. It works very well in daylight, but we have found that it’s even better at night with only a small light on in the room… the laser works even better at showing everything that needs to be vacuumed. The laser actually changes everything for us; we will no longer use a Swiffer or any other vacuum on the hardwood… Only this Dyson can show us what we need to clean. The Fluffy Optic attachment is soft and does not scratch wood, and the “fluffy” characteristic means that it is very quiet while rolling around. Carpet. The carpet attachment and overall performance on carpet is quite good, and certainly better than any other cordless vacuum we have used. The Digital Motorbar XL cleaner head does a great job at spinning and scrubbing the carpet, and it looks, sounds, and shows on the screen that the carpet is being vacuumed well. By the way, the little carpet we have is high pile carpet and we have shaggy rugs… these were no problem for this Dyson! On the downside, there is no LED on the carpet attachment; this is puzzling to me since most carpet vacuums or carpet attachments on the market have an LED light to help see in dark corners and under furniture. Noise Level. In general, this vacuum is very quiet, more so than any we have owned. When vacuuming hardwood, it is quiet enough to vacuum at night on the first floor while the family sleeps on the second floor. It is louder of course on carpet, but that is mostly due to the Motorbar cleaner head working to clean the carpet. Features. In addition to everything written above, I want to highlight a few other standout features. This Dyson can lay nearly flat when vacuuming, which means you can get under furniture really well. The built-in dusting and crevice tool is an amazing addition; no need to carry around an extra tool, or walk back to the storage closet to get the crevice tool because you need to reach a small area… The crevice tool is built-in and deploys very quickly to pick up anything you need in a tight spot. The combination tool does a great job on cloth upholstery when using the smooth pop-out head. The Hepa filter eliminates any smell from the air that comes out of the motor, and it traps viruses! Lastly, the LCD screen shows if there is any dust/dirt left in an area, and it provides a neat roll-up of everything picked up by size categories. My wife loves this feature, and she says that it is satisfying and makes her feel productive. The screen also shows the estimated battery life remaining, which is so convenient! Things I like: - It has a laser! The hardwood angled light is a game-changer for us… we will never use anything else on hardwood. Thank you Dyson! - It’s very light and maneuverable - It’s unbelievably quiet - It comes with two batteries and two charging cables - The LED screen shows what you vacuumed, so satisfying! It also shows battery life - It’s sleek and modern, with a cool color scheme - It can be wall mounted - It includes all the attachments you need - Excellent battery life! - Good suction on medium setting, and excellent suction on boost setting - The built-in crevice took is a great design feature Things I don’t like: - I wish the carpet cleaner head had an LED light so I could see in dark corners - I wish the attachment slots on the wall mount were spaced out more so that I could fit the Hair Screw tool and the Combination tool at the same time. Spacing only really allows one small tool and the wand to be stored at the same time. In practice, the two small tools and one large cleaner would be in storage most of the time. Overall, this is the best cordless vacuum we have ever owned, and it probably rivals the best plug-in vacuums from other brands. When considering all the features, capabilities, design, and performance, this vacuum is as close as you can get to a perfect vacuum system. Wow, we love it, and we feel that our home is cleaner and healthier from Hepa filtration, and visual confirmation from the green angled light and LED screen information. It is not cheap, but worth every dollar. We most highly recommend the Dyson Gen5outsize!

I shouldn’t be this excited about a vacuum

As the title says I shouldn’t be this excited about a vacuum but the Dyson Gen5Outsize feels like anything but a normal vacuum. To start with the Gen5Outsize has a very unique look with its color mix of royal purple, grey, silver Prussian Blue and copper which oddly works to help the machine stand out and at the same time fit in with my living area. Dyson has taken its time to create a machine that is well built and engineered it so that its small and compact yet offers a lot of comforts you didn’t know you needed. For instance while the Gen5Outsize feels heavy due to the battery there is a very soft cushion around the handle where your hand rest so that you don’t feel the weight of the vacuum while using it. Besides the Dyson looking like a piece of art its usability is amazing, the way your able to maneuver the vacuum is something you have to feel. The Gen5Outsize is a breeze to use which requires no force to push forward or having no issues when pulling back and the suction power is second to none. The suction power is so good that I found myself always having to switch from auto mode to economy when vacuuming my carpets. The Gen5Outsize has a bright colorful screen with 2 buttons for ease of use, one button is to turn the vacuum on and off and the other is to cycle through its settings. The Gen5outsize has a Piezo sensor which checks the size and counts the dust particles and adjust the section as need and the HEPA filtration traps even the smallest of particles including virus. While using the vacuum the Dyson shows how much run time is left for the battery and adjust as you change the modes, I was able to get about 40 mins per battery on auto mode and by having to batteries that totals roughly an hour and half which more than enough for any home. After your done using the vacuum the digital meter gives you the number of particles the dyson has cleaned and you might be shocked by what you see. The Gen5Outsize comes with everything you need 2 batteries, Fluffy Optic cleaner head , XL cleaner head, hair screw tool, Dusting tool, combination tool and wall hanging attachment along with an extra charger. All these tools are easy to adjust with a simple click release function. When using the Fluffy Optic cleaner head I was surprised to see how much dust was on the ground, I wish the laser light was on all of the tools. The no touch ben emptying is a breeze which pushed out all the dust in debris in one action without you having to dirty your hands and having the lifetime washable HEPA filter and Fluffy Optic roller makes the Dyson a must have. As I stated in the title I should not be this excited a vacuum but I am and for good reason.

Makes lot of noise and the vaccum part broken while using in a month or so. Dyson told it was due physical damage which is absurd even if its not.

An Absolute Game-Changer for Pet Owners

As a proud owner of a long-haired Australian Shepherd whose hair manages to find its way into EVERY nook and cranny, finding a vacuum that can effectively remove it has been a constant struggle. However, the Dyson Gen5 Outsize proved to be the ultimate solution. From the moment I unboxed the vacuum, I was impressed by its sleek and modern design and the eco-friendly packaging. But the true beauty lies in its performance. This vacuum tackled our hardwood floors, rugs, and carpets, effortlessly removing even the most stubborn pet hair without hair wrapping around or getting stuck in the beater bar. One of my favorite features of this vacuum is its customizable suction settings. With the ability to fine-tune the suction power of both the motor and the Digital Motorbar XL cleaner head, I was able to achieve the perfect balance for cleaning our rugs. Previous vacuums either proved too powerful or too weak, but this vacuum allowed me to tailor the suction power to be just the right strength to clean our rugs without sucking them up into the vacuum and restricting airflow. Another improvement over previous models is the mechanism to empty the canister. In the past, I ended up having to wedge my hand into the canister to manually pull the last bits of dust-coated dog hair out that surrounded the filter. However, the Dyson Gen5 Outsize has simplified this process: the outside of the canister moves to release stuck dirt/hair/dust from around the filter, making emptying the debris an absolute breeze. This thoughtful enhancement saves time and ensures a more hygienic cleaning experience. The plethora of accessories was very welcomed. The inclusion of an extra battery and charger is a thoughtful addition. While the battery life is already phenomenal, having a spare battery provides peace of mind for larger cleaning jobs. Plus, the various cleaning heads included with the vacuum guarantee immaculate results on any surface I cleaned. The Fluffy Optic cleaning head was exceptionally great. I was unsure if I would end up using this head over the Digital Motorbar XL, but the green light on our hardwood floors revealed dust I hadn't previously noticed, and helped me better deep clean the surfaces. The Gen5 Outsize truly represents the pinnacle of innovation in this space. Its ability to effortlessly tackle pet hair, combined with the customizable suction settings and improved canister emptying mechanism, makes it a game-changer for pet owners and anyone seeking exceptional cleaning performance.

It’s So Good and I’m Ashamed of My Dirty Home

I was not prepared for how impressed I’d be with this vacuum. It’s so good at cleaning (and highlighting) the messes in my house that I’m constantly thinking about it now. I don’t know if this is a good or a bad thing for me, but Dyson knocked it out of the park with this one. I was a little surprised at just how big this thing is. Heavy as well. It’s still much smaller and lighter than a bulky upright vacuum, but especially coming from my previous Samsung cordless vacuum this thing is a beast. True to the Outsize name, you get an extra-wide cleaning head and an extra large canister. You also get a good amount of attachments and an extra battery included in the box and the included wall mount has a spot where you can run the power adapter so the vacuum charges while it’s docked. I do wish they had included a little stand or something to hold all of these accessories and while the wall mount does have 2 slots for holding attachments it only fits the combo tool; the other ones are too bulky. My house is me, my wife and 2 dogs. 1 dog sheds and the other doesn’t. I started on the main floor of my house, which is mostly hardwood, using the ‘Fluffy Optic’ attachment, which is main for hardwood floors and has a built-in green light that will highlight every little spec on your floor. It was at this point that I had to come to grips with just how much my one dog sheds. That green light sees EVERYTHING. Every hair, every spec of dust, every drop of paint we thought we had cleaned up. I really didn’t even intend to do a full house cleaning at that point. I was mainly just testing it out, but I had to get everything clean after I saw that. This is the kind of vacuum Mr. Monk would buy. The suction power is as good as anything I’ve experienced on both corded and cordless vacuums and it cleans hardwood and carpet with no problems at all. The default setting the vacuum starts on seems to adjust intelligently to the type of floor it’s on and I didn’t really find myself reaching for the controls to increase or decrease power as it more or less just handled that on its own. As big as the vacuum is, I still feel like it’s pretty easy to handle and carry around. As a test we ran our old cordless vacuum across our area rug once and then made a second pass at it with the Dyson and filled up a quarter of the canister. The display has a nice little readout of everything it picked up during your vacuum and the size of all the different particles it picked up, which is nice even if I’m not sure what I’m going to do with that information. The canister empties via a nice little release lever at the top that reduces the potential interaction with all the dust you picked up, but in order to empty it you do have to remove all of the attachments first, which is kind of annoying. The stated running time is “up to” 140 minutes using both of the included batteries, but this number seems very optimistic and is probably based on the lowest power setting and the lightest floors. I think a more realistic number is 25-40 minutes per battery, which is still more than enough time for me to clean my 1800 sq ft house, usually on a single battery. You do get 2 power adapters so you can charge up both batteries at the same time, though again I wish there was some kind of dock/holder for the extra battery and accessories. As crazy expensive as this thing is, I think it might be worth it for the kind of job it does. For all the minor quibbles I have, they fade away as soon as I start using it. I might finally get rid of my big bulky corded Shark vacuum now.

I upgraded my dyson v8 to the dyson gen5 oversized and i felt the upgrade .. it was worth it even it’s a bit costly because you get what you pay for .. sucking power is literally like a corded vacuum .. battery life is pretty long specially with the auto mode that change the sucking power automatically according to the floor type make it last long ..it comes with another battery but i never used it yet … the bin size feels big first but it’s helpful to not have to keep going back and forth to empty it .. generally its a great machine to own .. 1 point to consider maybe whiches the vacuum is a bit heavy for the oversized model so if weight is a problem just get the regular gen5 .
