I purchased this the day it came out! this game is awesome. I did the first 30 day workout and I tell you I sweat like crazy from the running, the boxing, the inline skating down to the the side lunges... You really feel the burn and the bicep curls and tricep workout does tone you up...now just looking to put a routine together.. this combined with my membership at 24 hour will help me keep off the weight! now the bad is the nunchuk you have to keep pulling it out then back in the holder.. ugh. then the leg strap you have to really fasten tight or else it will fall and loosen. Overall this is a must buy the amount of activities on top of you can actually use your balance board you cannot go wrong Good job EA and good job Best buy for carrying this item!

I've never worked out before in my life and I'm 100lbs over weight but I still was able to use this product. I'm going to start using my own tension band with the product because the one included doesn't give me a workout. It is too loose and puts no strain on my muscles at all. Another problem I experienced was that the velcro on the leg strap rubs my thighs and leaves scratches. The easy fix for this is to work out in pants. The only other complaint I have is more of a personal one: I have a knee injury that prevents me from doing all the workouts. The game is great in the fact that it lets me pick and choose which workouts I can/want to do. I just uncheck all the squats and lunges and then I'm on my merry way.
I'd definitely reccommend this to someone new to the workout scene. It is great at demonstrating how to do the exercises, it tracks your meal and workout schedule, and it tells you how many calories you've burned.

I had no idea that this game, if that's what you want to call it, would be so tough (in a good way!). I am absolutely delighted that this product exceeded my expectations of how it would function. This game makes me sweat from places on my body that I didn't know had sweat glands, haha.
The running, track, and boxing exercises are what get my heart pumping to the max. I just love the variety of exercises that they offer in the game. I am doing the '30-day Challenge' right now and I just adore that each day I get to do something different in my routine (yesterday I got to dance!). I never get bored. Since the routines are so much fun I end up going through an entire workout, get to the end, but get upset that it's over. It makes me want to do more! I never thought I'd be excited to workout.
The resistance band is a great addition to game. Many have complained that the band that comes with the game is weak. I felt the same way at first but I increased it's resistance by shortening the length of the band between the two handles. Boom! Instant increase in resistance!! How hard was that to do?!!
I really do like the fact that you can also create your own custom workout. As an added cardio blast after a workout with my trainer, I created a routine that's pure running and boxing. How cool is that?
At the end of each workout session I am literally drenched in sweat. I haven't worked up a sweat like that in quite some time. I plan to recommend this game to EVERYONE I know who owns a Wii!

P.S. - To everyone complaining about the game not registering your movements, you guys must not be holding the remotes properly, seating the nunchuk in the pocket properly, wearing the leg strap at the proper height, or something. I have yet to have the trainer or game tell me that I'm not standing correctly or holding a pose well. The only time it told me to 'Stand Still' was when I reached to scratch my head in between doing lunges.
P.S.S.. - I don't understand the people who are faulting this game because of the cord on the remotes. That is not EA's fault. They created the game based off of the current way the Wii is constructed. Nintendo should be the one criticized for not making the remotes cordless. In addition, Nintendo needs to upgrade the Wii so I see my games in hi-def.

I really am enjoying this product! You get a great workout and when doing the 30-day challenge they mix up the days so that some days you work on upper body and other days you are doing squats until your eyes want to pop out!
I would suggest that you have two of the nunchuks and leave the one in the leg strap and tuck the end of the cord in the band or shorts pocket. The pouch is a tight fit and, maybe it is just me, but getting it in and out is kind of a pain as you seem to go back and forth often. I have found it easy to use a second one and just unplug and swap out. Your mileage may vary.
Overall, makes great use of the Wii's capabilities! You will sweat, guaranteed!

Best exercise program for the Wii!

This game is great! I first bought the Wii Fit Plus about a month ago and I was bored after a week and a half. This is half the price and sooo much better. About me- I am a 31 year old female that weighs 158 lbs and is in decent shape but I definitely need to lose a few pounds. I've been using Wii Active for almost 2 weeks now (on the 30 day challenge) and I can feel and slightly see a difference already, especially in my legs (all those horrible yet effective lunges, I'm guessing). I've lost 3 lbs since starting the program by combining this with healthy eating and also running for 20 minutes 3x a week. If you're contemplating buying this, definitely do it. It's fun, motivating, and effective. I look forward to using it every day. Oh, and don't worry about the balance board if you don't have one- I think the exercises are actually better without it, with the exception of the boxing which just adds some kicks which you could just do on your own (it's only about 8 forward kicks total and 8 knee raises). Best $50 I've spent in a long time!

I bought the Active Personal Trainer today and used it today. The setup was very easy and I chose the pre-programmed 30 day schedule. I started off on "easy" and by the end of the workout I was sweating pretty good.
I loved the kick/boxing training so much I went ahead and setup my own workout routine with just those excercises. By the end of that routine I was wiped out.
The best part was the quick transition between exercises and not having to think about what you want to do next.
My only dissapointment was that I thought the resistance band didn't give a whole lot of resistance. I guess it will be easier to feel the burn quicker once I increase the level from "easy" to "medium" then to "hard."
I did not have any problems with the leg band but if it's not on tight it would slip off with all the movement (common sense). Also, it doesn't give your BMI or weight like the Fit but then my Fit never got it correct anyways. However, it does keep track of your time exercising and calories burned and keeps it in a journal.
If you have the Fit let the kids have it and get the Active for yourself!

I highly recommend this game. Not only can you have fun with friends and family on a split screen but you get an awesome workout. I have done many other workouts for 45 minutes to an hour and very little sweat. This game had me sweating as if though I had just done a marathon and I only worked out for 27 minutes. I love the fact that you can track your calories burned and journal all of your workouts. I started the 30 day challenge last night on medium intensity. I felt every muscle in my body at work. I will be going today to cancel my gym membership. As a stay at home mom it is very hard to wait until my son falls asleep and then drive to gym just to do cardio. By the time I get there the personal training is not available. With this video your Personal trainer is there for you at any time. I have already called family and friends this morning to let them know about this game.

I have every single fitness game that came out for the wii except Jillian Michaels fitness ultimatum because the reviews were so bad for that game. This game is the best I’ve played by far, It totally beats out the wii fit 100% I actually sweat like I’m at the gym and it picks up every hit that you make precisely I cant describe it its amazing the only bad thing is the leg strap kept slipping off during running but I think if you tighten it real good you should be able to fix this, other then that it has so many great features you will be sure to be entertained everyday playing this. It makes everything a challenge and you can have different levels of workouts so if you want it easy or hard its up to you, . Definitely worth the money so go and buy one you wont regret it.

I hate to exercise as much as most people but exercising like this is SOO much better than going to the gym or follow tv workouts. EA Active makes it more like a game and makes it fun. The big thing for me is that its helping me to get the discipline I need when it comes to exercises. It gives you enough to get your heart pumping with out going on to long and burning you out too soon. You can always add more to your routine to keep it going. I'm over half way through my first 30 day challenge and im not quitting! After watching what I eat the last month and exercising the last couple of weeks, Im already feeling a difference in how my jeans fit! Now THATS motivation!

This has given me (age over 55) a good workout with "trophies", a trainer, etc. I work up a sweat and sometimes talk back to the trainer when she says "let's get our heartrate up" and mine already is. My daughter (age 24) feels there should be a tougher (as in not as nice) trainer. I like the variety of types of workouts (waling, running, lunges, use of resistance bands, inline skating, dancing, boxing, tennis, etc.) and the ability to create custom workouts doing activities that I really like in addition to the standard workouts. When using the 30 day plan, there is good variety of exercising different muscle groups on different days. It's never a dull workout.

I use My Fitness Coach and wanted some variety, so I got this product. Very easy to use and the exercise variety is great. Some of the arm strengthening exercises seem to have communication breakdown between the Nunchuk and remote, so the trainer either thinks you're not doing the exercise correctly or not at all. The cord connecting the Nunchuck to the remote sometimes creates a hazard for you when working out, so I'm hoping a wireless Nunchuk is in Wii's future. I would like to be able to select work out days for the 30 day challenge, since I can't make my work out on all the preselected days. Overall, great workout!

A Wii Workout that's very customizable!
I classify myself as a fitness enthusiast and am in pretty good shape.
Background:
I own Wii Fit. I love its stretching and balancing aspects, but cardio-wise, it misses the mark. I also own Gold's gym and LOVE it. The Wii Active feels like the offspring of these two programs.
I have done Wii Active for the past week. I can CHOOSE to work out easy one day to such an intensity that some of my muscles will quiver when I'm done the next.
Pros:
1. You can create your own workouts, including intensity and length.
2. You can skip any preprogrammed exercise. A must if something doesn't feel right that day or if you're on the mend.
3. The program encourages the value of rest days. I used to use the credo "No pain, no gain." Now in my forties, I need those rest days to heal and prevent further injury.
4. The variety of exercises is divided into 3 body improving sections--cardio, legs, and arms.
5. The Wii Balance Board is optional--it does bring balance and step value to the exercises.
Cons:
1. The resistance band is flimsy. I use my own.
2. DO NOT USE A WIRELESS NUNCHUCK! It will not work with many of the exercises.
3. Sometimes your Mii will be out of sync.
4. Sometimes you will have to redo an exercise rep because it doesn't log correctly with the Wii. Hold the remote and nunchuck perfectly, as per the video instructions, and this issue should resolve itself.
5. It's a tight fit to get the nunchuck into the pocket of the leg strap--but now I'm being picky.
Some last thoughts
I DID NOT have an issue with the leg strap falling down. I secure it over my shorts and DIRECTLY UNDER my butt cheek. It's tight but not enough to cut off circulation or be a hindrance.
Position the nunchuck facing down and to the right as the video instructs when in the leg strap.
I like the repetitive encouragement, especially when I'm getting fatigued. It lets me know I'm still doing the exercise at the appropriate intensity

I'm not overweight and I'm a pretty active person, but this game did give me a serious workout, even on the 20 minute easy routine. I thought, 'honestly, how hard could it possibly be?" And really, it wasn't 'hard,' it just really makes you focus on your follow-through. It's easy to start slacking once you get a little tired but the game totally calls you on it.
I haven't gone through all of the routines, obviously, but there seem to be quite a variety, which is nice! It was definitely engaging enough that I could see myself sticking with it and looking forward to making time for a more rigid exercise routine.

Superb - Much Better than Wii Fit

I bought this the day it came out and have not been disappointed yet. I purchased the Wii about two weeks ago as I love video games but am tired of sitting and playing them. I also wanted a good workout program as well. I originally bougth the Wii Fit however that became old very fast. In just the first week I had unlocked half the advanced options.
Fast forward to the ES Sports Active. The graphics are very high quality for a program such as this. It's really nice watching the character do exactly what you do (as well as it can.)
My one big complaint about the Wii Fit is that you have to tell it what you want to do. With the Active 30 day challenge, it sets up workout programs for you. All you have to pick is the intensity of the workout. I actually started off with easy thinking anything more would kick my butt. The easy was actually easy although I still sweated pretty heavily during it. The next time I used it I did normal. I may move up to hard/advanced to get a harder workout in.
The resistance band is actually pretty week, but it's really hard to pick a resistance for everyone to include. I think I'll just go to Walmart to get a higher resistance band for a few bucks. The nunchuck holder though is great. Very nice and acurate when doing exercises that measure that area of the body. Since I have the Wii Fit I have used the Balance Board with it as well. I believe the Balance Board is a must have for the game to add all the capabilities to it.
I truely can't think of anything bad to say about it yet. It's nice having a workout partner right there with you that does the actions with you. I felt sometimes the trainer was in the room with me. I hope they can make something like thsi again in the future after maybe I do the 30 day challenge twice and need a new 30 day challenge.

This "game" provides a great workout that is comparable to going to a gym and participating in an exercise class. The different combinations of exercises for each workout works muscle groups the same way a trainer would. Some days, the emphasis is on lower body, on others it is on upper body. Also, the capability of editing the workouts, even in the 30 Day Challenge gives some versatility.
The resistance band is only so-so but can be augmented by shortening it (have som slack between your feet). I've thought of getting a new resistance band for a greater workout.

We purchased this the day ir came out our family has been using the WII fit since christmas and thought it was a good product for winter activity but most activities weren't all that challenging. The ACTIVE set up is awesome your legs will be burning guaranteed everyone in my house was shocked at how much it worked you. I would highly reccomend this product it's fun to use and the trainers keep you motivated. My wife and I each dropped 70lbs this year and are thrilled to have found another tool to help keep us active and the weight off.

My husband got this game for himself and I was hesitant to use it but once I did, I just had to stick with it. I am doing the 30 day challenge and love it. THe workouts can be as long or as short as you want them to be and I hope to continue to improve each workout. The trainer is motivating but can be a bit too much at times. This is not intended to be for the intense workouts that you get at the gym, but more as a supplement. If you are new to working out or not into hard core work out, I think this is game for you.

The variety of the workouts is nice, and the calendar tells you when to take have a day of rest. I selected the highest level workout, but I think it could have been more intense than it was. I was sweaty, but I get much more sweaty at the gym. The nunchuck cord smacks me in the face while doing over head exercises. The system didn't always recognize when I changed positions, the remote had to be in a precise position, or I had to shake it for it to recognize that I had moved. The "encouraging" statements from the trainer get to be a bit much, like "right on". Who speaks like that? Also, the rate of the reps is not always consistent, so if I anticipate the start of a rep, the system tells me to stay still.

I bought the wii fit back in February and have since purchased; My Fitness Caoch, Gold's Gym Cardio Workout and now the EA Active. Each of the program/game was worth the money spent, but EA Active, I feel is the best of them. I have created my own workout and also worked out with a friend. I've started the easy 30 day Challenge and plan on continuing with the other intensities of the Challenge.

I have had this for about 30days now, I havent had any problems with the strech band breaking or anything, i love waking up to work out with this. It is amazing! It does also work you out more than the wii fit because you dont have any games it is just working out. I break a sweat faster on this than the wii fit. Also, for anyone who is a bit thicker the band that goes around your thight has an extender so you can make it tighter if your really small or you can make it bigger.
