Bought f the EERO Pro 6 routers on sale for about $160 during the Nov 2022 two day sale. The units came in one day. Plug the EERO Pro 6 network cable into your EXISTING wifi box first. Then do the internet registering thing with the EERO app on your iphone or android.

Coming from the cable company rental combo modem/router, this is like emerging from the Stone Age. We get every bit of our bandwidth, and with 3 of these scattered about our house, excellent coverage even to our attached garage, and the patio. I’m very pleased with the performance and speed. We keep adding devices (cell phones, laptops, iPads, Rokus, TVs, Blu-ray player, wireless security cameras, etc) and the system does great. Hopefully these last longer than typical. We usually get 2-3 years out of routers.

The reason for 3 out of 5 stars: 1. Not compatible with older equipment and tech; 2. Customer service appears outsourced, inefficient; 3. Does not cover the range advertised.

I replaced a Netgear Nighthawk which, at the time was very good. However, it was time to replace it and upgrade. After plenty of research, I chose this eero. While I’m not using mesh, it covers upstairs and downstairs of our 3200 SF home. So far, it’s stayed online and provides great throughput. I’m quite pleased. The only downside is it only has two RJ45 ports. I added a switch to accommodate more connectivity.

The eero Pro 6 Mesh Wi-Fi system has been a game-changer for my home network. With its tri-band Wi-Fi 6 technology, the performance is lightning-fast and consistent across every corner of my house. I no longer experience dead zones or buffering, even when multiple devices are streaming, gaming, and working simultaneously. The setup was incredibly straightforward and user-friendly, thanks to the intuitive app. I also appreciate the sleek and minimalistic design of the units—they blend seamlessly into my home without looking bulky or out of place. The coverage area is impressive, easily handling a larger home with ease. It even manages smart devices and IoT products without any hiccups. Plus, the ability to expand the system in the future is a bonus. The only downside is the price—it’s on the higher end compared to other systems, but the performance and reliability make it well worth the investment. If you’re looking for top-notch coverage and speed, the eero Pro 6 is an excellent choice!

Great Coverage, Easy Setup if Conifig is Simple

I've had the Eero 6 Pro system with 2 extenders up and running for the past few days in a rancher with full basement - about 1300 sq ft each floor. No deadspots anywhere. Even my truck in the driveway has a strong signal. Given the specs, my 2 extenders are probably not necessary, but it's awesome to have coverage over my entire property, which is bit over a 1/4 acre. Basic setup was extremely fast and simple -- just download the app to your tablet/phone, run through a wizard and it was up and running in 10 min or so. More advanced setup was a bit frustrating however, mainly because as far as I could figure out there's no way to connect directly to the Eero 6 router (unlikr previous Eero devices any 3 devices in my kit could be set up as the main router) from a local network device. The descriptions of the interfaces on the configuration page are poorly worded and confusing. They are IP Address, Subnet Mask, and .... Router IP. Huh? Well router IP is actually the gateway -- generally the IP address of the ISP router you're connected to. I actually did it backwards, then could not reconnect to correct it. I looked up the instructions for resetting the router, but could not find one specific to the Eero 6 Pro. The reset switch is in the middle of the base -- barely a bump and the same color as the router. Holding it down for 7 seconds will turn the LED amber and reset the network config to default; 14 seconds the LED turns red and resets the entire router to factory default. I tried this, but could not get the router to change state regardless of how long I held the button down. I looked up more troubleshooting guides looking for a way to get into it, and tried resetting a few more times. Finally, after 4 or 5 attempts, the router reset finally took place and I was able to correct the configuration. Once that was done, everything worked fine in terms of the Internet. Once that was done, the app will let you see devices on the network and you can group devices into groups with their own settings such as parental controls. You can optionally add security subscriptions for $3 and $10 per month respectively -- the latter including third party subscriptions by Malwarebytes, a password manager, and a VPN service. The Eero also includes an integrated Zigbee smart home hub, which meand you don't have to purchase seperate hardware to configure your smarthome devices. After updating some software, almost all my devices were up and running (smart thermostat, smart lights, etc.) except my front door lock. Need some time to get that figured out. Overall, the system is fast, reliable, and other than my little snafu, very easy to configure. I still don't like that I can't just connect directly and manually configure everything, but I suppose the majority of users wouldn't really care - ease of setup is far more important. The Eero 6 Pro is Wi-Fi 6 compliant, supports Gigabit Wi-Fi, uses Tri-band for faster performance (the mesh system runs on a seperate 5 Ghz band that doesn't interfere with the 5 Ghz band all your various devices are talking on), and a built-in smarthome hub. The only downside is the Eero 6 devices only had 2 wired Ethernet interfaces -- I had to go and purchase a gigabyte switch to provide more wired connections. If you have a large area requiring Wi-Fi coverage, this system will suit your needs very well.

    Best wifi router out there!

Summary: Best router, mesh or not that I have ever owned. The only thing I would fix would be to add a web-based management ability. Otherwise, performance is amazing, the units look cool, internet is reliable and app-based management is easy! Pros: Looks cool Fast network performance Easy to set up App is easy to use Integrated security settings Reliable performance Cons: No web-based management Nothing else bad to say! Unboxing: Inside you will find the three mesh units, three power adaptors, an ethernet cable (unknown if Cat 5e or Cat 6 as the box doesn’t say and the cable doesn’t have anything printed on it). There are some quick start guides on each unit that are easy to miss since they look like ads for the unit. Set up: First, install the Eero app on the phone. Once you do that, plug in the device to your router and power, turn it on with your router, it will connect you your device via Bluetooth and easily walk you through the rest of the setup. Once you finish the first device, click to add another and repeat (with only power, no ethernet cable needed). So easy! I connected mine to a modem/router combo so in that situation, you will likely need to disable NAT on your modem/router so that it can ensure that the Eero is in charge of the router functions on your home network. If you only have a modem this step would not be needed as you can simply replace your existing router. Use: After setup, there was a quick update needed which happened in the background. I played with the in-app settings. The first thing I did was allocate each device to a user profile. To start, you can give each device a more obvious name and assign it a “type” such as smart watch, digital assistance, tv, etc. This is mainly just useful in identification. For my wife and it is mostly for organization but for the kids… it gets handy! If you put all your child’s devices under their name, you can quickly click on their profile and click “pause” which will disable the internet to their devices only with a click of a button! Imagine the possibilities at dinner and nap time! Next, you can view activity such as download speeds for the week, data usage, scans, threats blocked and content filter blocks (if enabled). Where it gets interesting is the “discover” tab. In there, you will see options for Eero secure, Amazon Connected Home and Eero Labs. I’ll address each one separately. Eero secure is a subscription service. Installation comes with a 30-day trial and provides two tiers to go with after, secure and secure+. Secure is what most people will need with security screening in the router, content filters, ad blocking and activity monitoring. If you upgrade further to Secure+ you also get a 1password, encrypt.me VPN and Malwarebytes subscription on a monthly or annual basis. This software is outstanding for families as the content filters let you filter out, based on user profiles, adult content, illegal or criminal content, and violent content including “safe search” at the router level. Amazon connected home allows all your amazon devices that support it to be use the Eero as a smart hub with Alexa / Zigbee smart home devices and enables “frustration free setup” with supported amazon devices to quickly connect it to your network. Last, Eero labs adds band steering, Local DNS Caching and WPA3 if you would like to enable it. Other settings you can adjust are IPv6, DHCP, Static IP or bridge, DNS (if you change it it will disable security features), IPv4 reservations and port forwarding, firewall rules, UPnP, Thread protocol, and remote restarts. As mentioned earlier, I would prefer to edit these functions through a web-based option but it works well in the app. Reliability: In the week or so I have used it, I have had zero dropped connections and all rooms in my house have five bars between the three mesh routers. My internet is limited to 450mbps so I cannot see how good 1gbps works via internet, but internal network speed transfers are outstanding! I did not benchmark internal throughput, but I had zero issues streaming 4k video to two TVs while playing Google Stadia on a computer with kid playing Xbox online. No one had any complains.

eero Pro 6 tri band is a life saver! this product is by amazon , had no clue amazon had this product, this product comes with total 3 wifi receiver that can cover up to 6000sqft of home, right now I have 1200 sqft on my condo, so having one should be more than enough, but I want to make extra sure that there won’t be any dead spot at the house! currently have Verizon 1GB internet with the latest wifi 6 router. for some reason verizon router tend it give me a slow signal at my bedroom, i’m very happy about the results I been getting after using all 3 eero pro 6! Pros - from opening the box I like the fact that the device and outlet feels premium - eero pro 6 is so simple to hook up, all connected through an app that you can install on your app store or google playstore - it it requires is to plug the ethernet cord from your modem the plug it at on of the two plugs in the back of eero and the power cord to turn on the device - setting up the eero through your phone is also simple, just follow the instructions, and your eero should connect in no time - adding additional eero pro receiver is also a click away. but this time you would only need to plug the power to your outlet and would act as another receiver to extend your signal even more. - u love the eero app, it’s simple, at first I was using Fios internet app, from UX design, it doesn’t come close of how simple eero app looks and feel. - having the ability to categorize things that’s connected on your internet helps you see and have better idea of what devices are connected, you can even change the name of the device if you want too - app also have ability to disable the other eero around your house, maybe if kids device are connected to certain receiver then you can block it off for limited use - I mention at top that I was having issue in my bedroom, at night my connection would drop to almost 10mb connection when I should be pulling more than that, watching youtube at night while in bed is been frustrating, it gets to a point where the video takes forever to load, that’s including netflix, the video would also play but on the lowest quality, eero fixed that problem! i’m having zero issues while in the bedroom, watching 4k video from youtube and netflix with no problem! - from having 10mb speed in my bedroom to 256mb put a smile on my face Cons - each eero pro have 2 internet ports, not a great news knowing that in my living room I prefer things to be hardwired, the only option for me is to buy an internet port box that could give more hardwired options. another thing to spend on sorry I couldn’t think much of a negative things that device has given me, it’s an amazing device as soon as you open, the quality and the performance are there, eero pro saved, having 3 eero pro 6 I have more than enough signal and worry free. it’s also a lot smaller than Fios tower router. amazing product you guys will not be disappointed, get eero pro 6!
