I've been using an emachine computer for the past 4 yrs. I finally had to break down and purchase a new one. I could have went with a Dell or Compaq but I've have great luck with emachine. This one isn't as quick as some but for school work it's great and it holds all my music and other files that I want to keep. I would recommend this computer to anyone, but if you are a serious gamer or download big files you might look toward something a little quicker.

Got this2 weeks ago, and have been having problems ever since......called emachines customer service people, and they didnt help at all, not very friendly... emachines are junk....Best Buy understood my situation, and I got a Dell instead, and its fast as lightning, and works like a charm.....I am very happy with Dell.....Do yourself the favor, and go for a few extra bucks!

I just bought this one two weeks ago and as a not-so-tech-savvy person, I was amazed at how easy the setup was! My last computer took hours of downloading from a disk, but this one set up in minutes. It looks like Norton comes with it, but judging by another reviewer's comment, it is a trial period. For casual uses like net surfing, email and office work, it does the job great and the price is a big plus!

I have no complaints about this computer. It's reliable, quicker than they will admit, and affordable. If you are looking for a home computer and not worried about "keeping up with the Jones," this one will satisfy and save money. I've played video on it and can barely tell the difference between this and its predecessor, which was a "higher" level computer I built.

After going back and forth to Best Buy 3 times in one day, I finally got a computer that works. The first computer I picked up had sound problems, the second computer was missing the pre-installed software that was supposed to be included, which is very important because this system has recovery software built in, which is a great feature. I would say the first thing to do is make a recovery disk, or you have to spend $20.00 bucks to order one from eMachines. Norton 360 is a really good software program included for 60 days free. Emachines has awesome tech support via live online chat. Best Buy gave me a $40.00 credit to pay for my hassle of running back and forth to the store 3 times, which helped out. I am now happy!

you need more memory than 1 gb. windows vista home basic has none of the cool effects .

I am an unsophisticated computer user----mostly emails and google research. This machine does everything at a price I can afford.

this computer is easy to use and highly reliable. I would recommend it to anyone.

I had this e Machine for two years and it runs fast! Great speed and performance! I bought this computer for my students, they use the computer everyday without any problems. I am very satisfied with e Machines. This computer is fast on the internet and you can install your favorite software. I will be happy to purchase another e Machine!

Great Pc so far, hopefully it will last a while.

I recently bought a 1 GB E-Machines for my kids that had Windows XP and it has been a great machine for the price. Came back less than 1 month later to look for another one only to find that the same machine has now been pre-loaded with Windows Vista. Beware!!! Windows Vista takes nearly 1 GB to operate. It should have never been pre-loaded on ANY 1 GB computer!!!!

I was leary that the product was not good due to the price. But was I amazed at the speed and look of the product. My kids love it for their games!!

Unit is incredibly slow when used with Vista Basic even with 2 GB of RAM. However Fedora 9 and Ubuntu 8.10 both run excellent as predicted and the unit, once tweaked, runs Linux superbly.

The brand new computer would not even turn on and it took days to get in touch with emachines customer service and when I finally did I was told I would have to pay shipping to send it back. Pick a computer not made by emachines.

This is the best....paper weight I've come across in years. First off, if your so hard up to buy this P-O-S, then you should save your money....like for a good education.
