Bought this for my daughter to start college with. She loves it. Its fast and has all the features she needs. You can use a sd card for more memory. Got this computer at a great price which helped narrow it down when we were checking computers out. My son works in the IT dept of another college and he recommended it also.

If you wanted a fast computer that is super portable without breaking the bank, this is it. Pen input, touch, full HD, good I/O, sleek design. I absolutely love this computer.

So I'll start this by saying I had this laptop for a month but it didn't fit my needs.
Pros:
- Discrete Graphics
- I7 performance with lower price thanks to Ryzen 7
- Above Average Sound Quality
- Fantastic Build Quality, Sleek Design
- Backlit keyboard w/ numberpad
Cons:
- Battery Life
- HP Bloat
- Not really portable
- Too big for 2 in 1 design
So I just started grad school and needed a portable laptop because I was commuting. I thought at 15" would be fine but I quickly learned it wasn't so I exchanged for the smaller 13" version which came with its own headaches.
This thing is a powerhouse for its pricepoint because of AMD's APU (Graphic Card and Processor) combination. Looks fantastic, feels great to type on, although the keyboard is off center to accommodate a number pad. Screen quality left a little bit to be desired. I feel the 2-in-1 design is wasted on a 15" because of how heavy it is. Switching from tablet mode to laptop mode was quite a hassle.
If you want to buy this to sit on a desk and to use as a laptop, its great. If you want something portable, get a 13" device.

Best Ryzen Laptop

First off, I specifically wanted a Ryzen laptop with Vega integrated graphics. I have a gaming computer, so I just wanted something I could easily carry with me and get in a little World of Warcraft. The Vega 10 will play WoW at recommended settings (around 3ish) and keep 45 to 60 FPS depending on where you are. Very playable. I have not tried Overwatch yet. The screen is very sharp and has good color representation. I have benchmarked the Ryzen 7 next to a Intel i7 - 6700HQ (which is the 45W chip) and they were almost identical. As far as performance, its great but the first thing you should do is consider adding more memory. It comes with 8 gigs, which is usually enough, but 2 of that is dedicated for the graphics so you really only have 6 usable. If you don't have plans for high memory applications that would be enough. There is a bonus to adding more memory and that is a little more speed out of the CPU and Graphics. It comes with 1 8 gig chip installed and an open slot. Great for upgrading, but bad for performance because it is only running single channel memory. You don't have to match the 8 (I put in a 16) but only the size of the smallest chip will run in dual channel, so its best to at least match the 8.
The windows Ink is cool, and I have used it some. It doesn't come with its own pen, but the Wacom Bamboo Ink works well, and they go on sale every so often. I mostly use the pen for editing photos in Photoshop in tablet mode. This laptop works great that way.
The keyboard is great to type on and is very comfortable, but the track pad is only just fair. It works but it doesn't have as good of a feel as the keyboard.
The overall constructive feels very solid and ridged. Its is not as light as some other 2-1 type laptops, but you are getting a lot with the weight so its a fair tradeoff.

This laptop is F A S T, I bought this laptop for the touchscreen. I use it for sketching and drawing when I feel creative. It is lightweight, very responsive (I use a Wacom Ink stylus) and did I mention fast?! The onboard AMD Radeon RX Vega 10 with 8 GB ram is a killer graphics chip and as it is teamed up with the Ryzen 7 2700U processor... I feel it can get through just about any process an Enthusiast could come up with.

I am an IT Consultant. I bought this laptop for myself in January. I like the expandability and features. I immediately upgraded to 16gb of RAM and I'm going to put a 1tb NVME in it when the drive arrives. My laptop has been a rock. Super fast, great overall performance, awesome batter life (around 8 hours), and generally a pleasure to use. I love the 10 key, the keyboard in general feels good, and the size and weight are just what I wanted.
Now for the bad...
I have seen 1 laptop get BSOD's enough that it had to be returned and replaced. I have noticed the trackpad works better on some than others. I have noticed a few strange anomalies with software that could potentially be hardware related.
So, I love the laptop. It's awesome! I love it enough that I bought 3 more for clients. And my clients love the laptop! The size is great and performance is incredible. The 1920x1080 is preferred for anyone using remote access. I did have to take off a star because of a laptop that had clear hardware problems, but 4 out of 5 seems about as good as you can expect in our mass produced consumer electronics world.

Purchased this laptop recently for school and the ability to work on stuff away from home.
Performance was decent out of the box but seemed a little low compared to what I had read online regarding the Ryzen 7 2700U. I ended up installing a second memory module the same day bringing the total memory to 12GB (8GB + 4GB). Unexpected, this led to a massive increase in overall performance. The GPU performance alone easily doubled in some applications and the system overall felt more responsive.
My best guess is that the single-module configuration from the factory was starving the APU for bandwidth and thus crippling the performance overall. I would highly recommend installing a second memory module if you want to unlock the full capabilities of this machine. Have Geeksquad or a tech-savvy friend do it for you if you don't feel great about opening up your brand new laptop.
Otherwise, I'm very satisfied with this laptop and it easily handles just about anything I throw at it within reason. The build quality is great and everything feels sturdy. The fans never get very loud even under heavy workloads though the bottom of the laptop can get decently warm. The screen is sharp and has great color reproduction and viewing angles.
For those wondering about pen support I can confirm that this does work with the Wacom Bamboo Ink. If the pen pairs but doesn't seem to work, you may have to swap the protocol by holding the two buttons on the pen for 3-5 seconds until you see the LED blink twice. The screen should then recognize the pen and you're good to go.

This laptop is exactly what I was looking for online, amd ryzen 5 and Vega 10 graphics card is more than enough to handle the heavy programs I use like photos shop and illustrator paired with a solid state drive, this laptop can handle it with ease.
Boot up time is lightning fast.
Tablet mode is absolutely great for touch pen use and convenient surfing when you don't want to use a keyboard.

I love this laptop as it is very fast and responsive with tasks that are quite intensive. I do some moderate video editing for work and this current generation of CPU/GPU systems are very fast. I also love the touch screen which flips around turning it into a big tablet.

I have been using PC's for 20 years and Mac's for 8. I have both computers. I think this is a nice laptop but it doesn't beat Mac's quality and craftsmanship. I bought this laptop primarily for work because it has a nice 10 key and windows compatibility. I'm an accountant and this laptop has nice 10 key (a lot of laptops have smaller than regular 10 keys). Set up takes a little, and all the windows updates. Computer is fast and it runs smooth for now. I don't have any issues with fan, unless its downloading something or I'm playing a game. Speaking of game, it handles Far Cry 3 fine. Graphics card is good. Its got whole bunch of Hp bloatware. Majority not useful. Craftsmanship is not bad. Couple small things....Hinge does not seem aligned like it should. It doesn't affect opening or closing. Touchpad in one place has a small speck that I can feel when i move my finger. Its not really visible but you can feel it. Its seems like QC is not as good. Does not affect usability of the computer. Overall not bad, but nowhere near Mac craftsmanship. Windows is another problem, that's not HP's, but everyone knows that.

This laptop has awesome features. Functions as a normal laptop with a touchscreen. Then it flips over to become a tablet. Sound is great n loud. But... it broke within the 30day mark. The screen popped off the body of the laptop. That’s the only downside I have for this laptop. Which was a manufactured defect. Best Buy honored me with an exact replacement and it’s functioning great!

I first bought this laptop when I was looking for a job, and needed something that would keep me connected with job sites, social media, and the like, while still doing regular computer-y stuff like Word and Excel. I like the size and brightness of the screen and have adjusted to the touch of the keys and the keypad. I have not tried to use it like a huge tablet, but I understand it does that as well. This was a replacement for a smaller Dell that was dying after three years of average use, and I'm very happy that I listened to the sales clerk and looked "up" a level to this model.
