I am a fan of any product manufactured by Epson. I already own the Epson Stylus 3880. Purchased used and the ink is so expensive. I decided to treat myself to the 8550 model and "Love it". The vivid colors are amazing and it was easy to set up. My only quirk is the paper trays. I find them to be hard to pull out, and put back in. I really have to put pressure on pushing the tray back in printer. For the price point, the trays should flush effortlessly without the strain of pushing them in manually.

    My $700 paperweight

Printer was awesome. Printer looks very solid. Prints solid. Really friendly user interface. Printer lasted me approximately a month. I did a deep cleaning from the menu and i restarted after. Then the printer gave me an error so I had called Best buy which they said they would bring someone out at a chargeable rate even with the printer being under 30 days old. Unfortunately I couldn't take it to Best buy as I notified them that I am disabled and do not drive. So I'm not sure if they wanted to capitalize on that and use that as an advantage for a service charge. So I called Epson as well and when I notify them regarding my experience with Best buy and geek squad they thought that was a bad experience on my end as being a customer. Epson saying they would be able to take a look at it , They wanted a credit card or actually debit card to put a hold while they sent me another printer. And upon their observation of my printer they would either charge me or not charging me. So I'm relying on whatever their verdict is and let me remind you. This printer is under 30 days old. Being on a disabled income fixed income that option was not open for me. So I am stuck with this printer that now has a error code $700 print, $700 paperweight I guess I might have got a bad printer which is understandable but not when no one is willing to help with a printer that is under 30 days old. I used to work at a Best buy distribution center so I do know how packages get handled so that's the only reason why I do understand it could be a possibility of a bad printer. $700 is a lot of money so get to printing. Keep your fingers crossed. I don't leave too many reviews unless I had a bad experience just to warn other consumers because it is very hard nowadays with income and fluctuation. So I would like to warn the public or the consumers regarding their hard earned income or only income if disabled.

5-Star Review: The Ultimate Photo Printer for C

I’ve been using the Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550 for several months now, and it’s easily one of the best investments I’ve ever made in my creative workflow. As a photographer and occasional graphic designer, I needed a printer that could deliver exceptional photo quality, support wide-format printing, and be economical in the long run — and the ET-8550 checks every single box. ⸻ Stunning Photo Output The print quality is jaw-droppingly good. The colors are vivid, the blacks are deep and rich, and the level of detail is phenomenal — whether printing professional portraits, fine art prints, or high-resolution landscapes. It handles everything from 4x6 snapshots to borderless 13x19-inch prints with ease. ⸻ Ink Efficiency = Game Changer EcoTank technology is a revolution. I’ve printed hundreds of high-quality photos and documents, and the ink levels have barely moved. Refilling is simple, mess-free, and much cheaper than constantly replacing cartridges. It’s a dream for anyone tired of overpriced ink. ⸻ All-in-One Versatility It’s not just for photos. This printer scans, copies, and prints documents beautifully. The touchscreen is responsive and intuitive. Wireless printing from iPhone, iPad, or Mac is seamless. Epson’s app makes mobile printing a breeze. ⸻ Built for Creators If you’re an artist, photographer, crafter, or small business owner — this printer will elevate your output to a whole new level. It supports specialty media, thick paper, cardstock, and more. It’s a true creative companion, not just a printer. ⸻ Final Verdict: Worth Every Penny Yes, the upfront cost is higher than standard printers, but the long-term savings, superior output, and premium build quality make this an incredible value. I can’t imagine going back to anything else. If you’re serious about print quality and tired of cartridge headaches, the Epson ET-8550 is in a league of its own. Highly recommended.

An excellent printer, the prints are phenomenal and beautiful. As an artist, I am very appreciative of fine detailed work, and seeing the prints of my artwork replicated with virtually the same texture details of rough paper on glossy prints goes to show as to the excellence of this printer. It also takes many different types of paper and is flexible with media types. I have even printed onto canvas, the quality of print for even uncommon media is extraordinary. It is efficient and easy to set up, with someone like myself not having much experience with big pieces of technology such as printers, it has been a relief to be able to use it with virtually no issues. The colors are so pretty, I have compared prints of my Epson 8550 to many different pieces of media and have been astonished to see the vast difference in quality between everything I have compared them to. If you are looking for a high quality printer that is easy to use, I can definitely say that you cannot be happier with this wonderful piece of technology.

Great printer. My new ET-8550 printer has revolutionized both my professional and personal life. In the office, it's a workhorse for accounting and payroll tasks, producing crisp documents with impressive speed and efficiency. But where this printer truly shines is in bringing my creative passions to life. As an avid sports photographer, I'm amazed by the vibrant, high-quality prints of action shots. The ET-8550 captures every dynamic moment in stunning detail, from the intensity in an athlete's eyes to the spray of sweat mid-motion. For my social media content, the printer's versatility is unmatched. Whether I'm printing eye-catching graphics or photo collages, the results always exceed my expectations. The range of media options allows me to experiment and elevate my online presence. The ET-8550 isn't just a printer; it's a bridge between my professional responsibilities and personal joys. It has become an indispensable tool that I'm grateful for every day.

So, I'm pleased with the results I've been getting with it. I converted it to do sublimation using Hiipoo ink and am using ASub sublimation. Here's some pics. There was some color banding one of the mouse pad I made but ran a cleaning/alignment and it cleared up. The included Epson Print Layout is handy for setting up the print itself but I use other programs to do any pre-processing (color adjustment, etc.) It's on the expensive side but worth it IMO for the larger sizes you can do versus the models under it. I've also used its scanner to scan some printed designs which I then ported over to Lightburn and engraved slate coasters. Overall, this ET-8550 seems to be perfect for my side-hustle business.

So far, this printer is incredible! Possibly the easiest printer I've ever setup. I have tried & owned several different photo printers and by far this is my favorite. The quality of prints and the affordable long lasting Echo tank ink is no brainer. Photos in a side by side comparison to something like the Canon Pro1000 may be of a slightly less quality but I guarantee that you can't tell any difference in quality if not side by side. If you're looking for an affordable top of the line photo printer, this is it. Just buy it!

This printer is amazing and we’ll worth the price! I was extremely hesitant since it is expensive and my luck with printers has not been great. Let me just say, this will not disappoint! I am a start up photographer and wanted to be able to print at home for events. I also wanted to be able to print photos as gifts, etc. The photo quality is incredible and the ability to print larger photos at home is amazing! I have now printed over 100 photos in various sizes and still have 1/2 the ink left that came with the printer and I haven’t had to replace it yet. To replace it once it’s needed it’s only $105 for all 6 bottles! I highly recommend!! Photos below of the photos don’t even do them justice!

I didn’t know what all the hype was for this printer until I printed my first craft with it. The photo quality was TOP TIER. I’m looking forward to purchasing a second one for sublimation soon. The set up was easy as the app does it with you step by step. Even without the app the printer screen shows you. Love the automation tray function and the touchscreen.

Printer is so economical and prints with excellent quality. Easy to set up and fill the ink tank. I find it hard though to use Epson Smart Panel on my android. I wish Epson would create a software for photo printing and editing to go with the printer. Because of its wide format, you would have to set up a dedicated space for your printer.

I turned my new printer into a sublimation printer. If you trying to figure out if you can get by with the smaller version don’t. It is so worth getting the bigger version especially if you are doing t shirts the bigger shirts are going to look better because you can do bigger photos. Photos are brighter in color and look amazing.

When I was looking to get a new printer, I was looking for something that could deliver a good, not quite professional level, print quality, large format capabilities and I was very interested in the tank printers because of the quantity of prints they could produce. I have been a fan of another brand of printer for years, but I felt they were lagging behind in the tank printer system. The Epson EcoTank printers seemed to be the best on the market, in my opinion, after doing a bit of research. By chance I found the ET-8550 on sale at Best Buy, and had been watching it for some time. I had all of the features I wanted and more. I use it mainly for a crafting printer, but I have found myself using it for office type printing/scanning as well. The print quality is just the perfect level that I need for some of the design work and prints that I do. It is a multi-tank system, which uses a Photo Black, Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Grey ink tanks. Even though they packed in bottles are less in volume than the additional refills, I have found myself still not needing to refill my tanks with the amount I've printed. The image quality has been very good on simple images to higher level photo images. I've had to adjust at times for better image quality, but that's been easy to take care of. I love that I can make prints up to 13"x19" size as well. I will admit, there is a bit of a labor to get access to the large format slot in the rear. (You have to lift remove the back panel, lift the top paper holder, then remove the printer cassette in the back to just access the larger opening.) However, once I got the mechanics down for using the large format slot, I was very happy with it. While I bought this for mainly printing images and designs, I have found myself using this for office type work as well. The scanner is simple to use, and I have used it from the printer itself, as well as using the app from my phone to print documents. I wasn't planning on these features, but I am very happy with the office capabilities of this printer. It is a large printer, and takes a lot of space. I didn't open the box of for a couple of days until I could find a suitable stand to hold this monstrosity. In the end, it was worth the wait. This was my first time having a wireless connected printer, and I found this to easily setup and connect to my network, cell phone and tablet. With the Espon apps installed, I was able to print with no problems from my phone or tablet. (Android OS.) I highly recommend this printer for those that need a good mid to high level photo printer that is capable of doing office type work as well.

Prints wonderful. Definitely a learning curve for those who have only used a pretty basic printer. Ink lasts. Trays are awkward and difficult to access. One pushes far in and doesn’t need to so unsure why it does that. I’ve read this complaint from many.

I've only had this printer for a few days, but I am impressed. Packaging was excellent. The footprint is as small as it can be for a "large format" printer. Setup was smooth, thanks to Epson's step by step instructions and the thought that went into them. (I thoroughly read the manuals and on-line PDF guide -- be sure you do this, and be sure to accept all options, and updates.) The paper tray pops out automatically, and self-adjusts for long length paper. There is a button on the control panel to withdraw the paper tray. I wish they would design it to retract with manual push, because the retraction icon is not always visible. Ink installation was easy. Seems like there is plenty of ink. I was not expecting my personal involvement in selection of the best calibration level, nor was I expecting so many levels, but I assume this will be an infrequent activity. I connected the printer to wired Ethernet. Unlike my previous printer, this printer always seems ready to go. We also were able to connect our phones for mobile printing. There is also an option to e-mail print jobs. I set this up, too. I bought this printer because I wanted the ability to print 11x17 documents on parchment paper. Paper larger than 8 1/2 x 11 gets fed through an easy to use rear feed. It handled card-stock 11x17 without a problem. The paper tray automatically extended to accommodate the long paper. The printer includes two paper trays. I loaded the top tray with 4x6 photo paper, and the bottom with plain letter paper. Windows programs allow selection of paper and parameters. There is an option to allow the printer/program to select settings. I prefer to opt out and define my own settings. Photo printing is five-star, just as I would expect from an Epson Photo printer! This printer was easier to set up than expected, has excellent paper handling, and produces great output. At this point, I highly recommend it.

This machine is excellent for its price, it only has something that plays against it and it is its connection system of the cartridges to the print head, it is quite delicate to the movement so that colors can become contaminated, but apart from that it is quite good!

Excellent quality prints, super easy painless set up, solid build quality and large 4.3" color touchscreen. I am so impressed with the photo quality. What sold me was the ability to print 13" x 19" documents on cardstock and other media up to 1.3 mm thick. The Epson 8500 does NOT print 13x19 so pay close attention to the model number you purchase if you want to print up to that size, which is the 8550. There are tutorials online for turning this into a dye-sublimation printer (though the Epson black ink is dye, whereas the colors and photo black are pigment). I am sticking with the original Epson ink because the results have been perfect. I have already printed hundreds of photos and there's barely a dent in the ink tank, which was my main motivation for purchasing.

The prints are for sure an upgrade, the ink fill is cool! And doesn't look like it has gone down since i bought it. My printer i replaced took cartridges and i've spent alot on ink. So the ink situation is a major upgrade. One thing i didn't like is if i want to scan a bunch of papers, I have to do it one by one instead of feed the top paper loader and start to scan. The app is great! Picture printing is great, the look is great! Satisfied with this purchase and we bought it mainly because we got a cricut and want to explore sticker printing and sublimation printing.
