I thought this was an expensive purchase (esp since I have a flatbed scanner already). So I expected this thing to be great. I'm a week into using this scanner and I am blown away! I've put in about 5 hours of time (including some photo organizing). I've scanned in about 3,500 photos of various sizes and levels of photographic quality and done it at various resolutions. I have been blown away at the speed and quality. I think my wife was as well as she was quite surprised when I was done with the first batch so quickly. It is a bit finicky on things like sticky notes on the back of photos, but even the oddest items went through with ease with the included carrier sheet. I am impressed!

This scanner is awesome! Have a small copy and sign shop and working on a project for a woman that went to a chain office supply store and had terrible results. She had a few over 150 photos she wanted for her mom's memorial service. I did 40 off my large flatbed scanner then had to crop, rotate, touch-up, etc. 40 photos took me about 2-1/2 hours. I purchased this and did 110 photos in about 35-40 minutes. All individual jpegs, to size of original easy to manipulate (rotate, scale, etc). Software saves original scan and also an enhanced version and does an incredible job of automatically correcting color/contrast. Attaching a screen shot of some of the photos showing originals and software touchups.

Excellent photo scanner - this is one of the best photo scanners I have used. This scanner is truly amazing - it effortlessly scans large stacks of photos at lightning-fast speeds while still maintaining incredible image quality. I was initially worried about the scanner damaging my precious photos, but it handled them with care and delicacy, leaving them in the same pristine condition as when I first received them. The interface is also incredibly user-friendly and intuitive, making scanning a breeze. I also love the workflow, as it automatically uploads the photos to Google Drive or Dropbox. Overall, I highly recommend this photo scanner to anyone looking to preserve their memories in a digital format.

Superior quality. Great for duplex scanning large collections at 600 dpi. Takes less than 3 seconds per photo and it is not a problem to scan multiple sizes.
Has not damaged any of my old photos. The feeder has an extra soft touch. The proprietary software is easy to navigate with a variety of advanced settings and basic editing.
If you are archiving your family photos and want to get it done in a third of the time, this is your unit. It is pricey but, well worth the investment.
My FF-680W sits right next to my V600 Photo flatbed scanner. I trust EPSON products for all of my printing, scanning, and media projection needs

I can’t describe how amazing this product is. It is extremely fast with scanning! I scanned about 40 photos is 20 seconds. What’s also amazing is the quality and how it enhances the photos.
It also comes with a sleeve for old sensitive photos.
Which is how I was able to scan a photo from 1914 that was about to fall apart.
Photos that were orange tinted (older photos) change to actual colors! Just look for yourself at the screenshot from my computer. It also will scan the original without enhancement and one with so you can decide which one you like.
I love love love this scanner. Completely worth the price.

After my father passed away, he had a lot of old photographs dating back to my great great grandparents and even further on from World War I and World War II and previous to that as well as family photos. My brother and I wanted hey quick and efficient way to scan photos. I was blown away with the speed, ability to feed different size photos and the software sharpens the photos of nicely and helps remove defects in some of the older photos. Overall I would say this was a great purchase since I didn't need something commercial I would say it's the next step down. Even if you wanted to start a small business digitizing peoples photos this would be a great tool.

I have been using the Epson FastFoto for a couple months now. The quality of scan is adjustable as needed and so far very good. The front/back scan has been great for capturing notes on the back, I am doing some online genealogy with very old photos and love how simple it is to capture the picture, increase quality and the notes.

I was skeptical and then as I started using it I was shocked and amazed. Runs great, scans great, and easy to use. I've now scanned over 3,000 old family photos and it's still running fantastically. This will benefit our family into the future. AND I may start a small business scanning pics for others someday!

I got this scanner to add a service to my photography. This scanner is FAST! I went through my mothers photos (about the size of a big shoe box. After sorting through the various sized, 3x3 , 4x6 , 5x7 and a few 8.5x11, this scanner did it all in under 20 minutes.

Does what it suppose to do. Saved alot of pictures from photo albums that I had cramped up in the closet. Was amazed on the amout of pictures I was able to scan in a small amount of time. The scanner doesn't occupied to much space and the wireless connection was easy to do. Family members already asking for there albums scanned as well. A profit? Lol. Highly recommend it to friends and family members.

I am upgrading from a Fujitsu ScanSnap duplex scanner that I bought in 2008. The Epson is about an inch bigger in every dimension, but otherwise similar in design.
I bought this primarily to use as a document scanner, with a one-time need to digitize the hoard of family photos. Like the Epson Workforce series, the equivalent Fujitsus are only "ok" at photo scanning and my old one would jam on glossy paper.
The good: The Wifi was fairly easy to set up, and once it is scanning, it's fast! After you fiddle with the settings, you can get some great quality photos and documents. I'm very happy the lamp is LED and shouldn't get tired over time. The Epson hardware is overall fantastic, marred only by a flimsy/rattly catch tray.
The bad: The software is a mess. Epson is a printer company first and foremost... and it shows. There are at least four core software apps installed: Epson Event Manager, Epson ScanSmart, Epson FastFoto, and Epson Scan 2 Utility. I also have an Epson Scan 2 from my other Epson printer/scanner. Between the two devices, I have 13 icons under my Start Menu.
Rather than a single unified package, you are led to believe that this is a "photo scanner first, document scanner second". The scanner button's default setting is to launch FastFoto, and the other apps are not even mentioned in documentation. When I threw a paper document on the scanner and hit the button, I was actually angered at the poor quality result in FastFoto. I nearly returned this scanner until I dug around and found the other apps.
Each app is optimized for certain features, and you must close one before launching another. It makes it slow and cumbersome. There is a several seconds' wait between hitting the scan button and the scanner starting (but once it gets going, it's speedy). Some apps have some settings, while other apps have similar-but-different settings. Epson ScanSmart forces you to navigate a menu to save after every scan. For documents, I ended up using the older "Epson Scan 2" app from my other printer - a clunkier UI but faster experience.
The silver lining is, I haven't hit any bugs or crashes yet. It's just a poor UX design.
The Fujitsu user experience is more unified. One software package. Save the settings first, press the button, scanner immediately runs, file is automatically saved. Repeat steps 2-4 to your heart's content.
I am happy with this scanner overall, and it's a 3.5 of 5. Because of the photo capability, I will be keeping it and expect it to last a decade like my last one. I will be shopping around to see if there are better software packages that I can use it with.

This scanner scans super fast and the quality of a photo scans is amazing. It was difficult to connect via WiFi, as requires the computer to use the 2.4 signal. My router automatically selects any close devices to use the 5.0 signal.....

Let me just say I’m going into extra detail on this review. Bottom line, the scanner is great and does what it needs to do. I’ve scanned about 1000 pictures and they’ve all come out really nice. I’m not sure it can get much better for the price you’re paying without having some serious equipment. That being said… the software for this thing was a real pain. It just feels dated and customer phone support from Epson was really rude and literally hung up on me. I kept getting an error (included on the pictures) however after many hours of dealing with the issue and reinstalling windows I was able to finally get the software installed. All in all the scanner is pretty good, the software needs work, Epson phone support is a joke.

It scanned hundreds of photos onto my computer with such delicacy and speed.
The FastFoto software is also really amazing at instantly restoring old photos from yellow and orange tint which usually comes with age.
Make sure you keep it clean and free of dust so it doesn't show up on your old photos.

Great for fast scanning of large library of family photos. Can be known to sometimes leave slight trail marks on the photos from the rollers as they shoot through. For the value and speed, there's not much else out there that can compete with this as of now [6/2023], without spending much more, or going for a much slower flatbed scanner.

The Scanning hardware is excellent. Both photos and documents look great, and the speed that is can crank through stacks of photos is impressive. Love that aspect of this scanner... when I can get it to connect and scan.
I am constantly plagued with connection issues over USB.
Have tried different cables, and even different computers, still have connections issues at least half the attempts to scan.
The software is no help diagnosing the issue. I see an orange exclamation point on the scanner, but the software doesn't give any indication of what the issue is. No troubleshooting, no error logs, nada.
The software shows the scanner is connected, yet I keep getting the exclamation point. Beyond frustrating. Never had any issues at all with my Fujitsu Scanners. After this experience, will probably be switching back to them.

Nice scanner with small footprint, easy to set up and easy to use. The problem I am having with it is that some of the enhanced pictures are double-exposed. I have been using the Fastphoto software and have cleaned the photos and used the scanning slow-mode option. I have not had a problem with the original photo being double-exposed so that is a plus.
