I am very pleased with escort passport radar. I can't believe I waited A long as I did to finally put he's it. I have had a whistler and a uniden before purchasing the escort. I've always figured that it was too expensive and that I would be just paying for the name, but I was wrong! The next day after buying it I drove from Spokane WA to Seattle WA and I know i saved money by buying this radar. I could have had 3 speeding tickets which would have added up to 2 or 3 times the price I paid for the radar! I really like the mute button option on the plug. I just wish it had a power button too. I definitely would recommend this to anyone and to be honest I already have. If your debating spending the money , you need to stop and just do it! Buy it!

Excellent The Passport 9500ix provides the latest in GPS powered filtering with Truelock. A radar frequency filtering system, that permanently eliminates false alerts by location and frequency. The Passport 9500ix provides total coverage with X, K, Superwide Ka, International Ku and Safety Warning System (SWS) radar capability, combined with front and rear laser detection. The Passport 9500ix also introduces intuitive AutoSensitivity which increases the range as your speed increases. The 9500ix includes Autolearn software and a blue display.

Owned for about a month, but have already used it on cross-country trip. Some city driving, but mostly highway. Extremely accurate, and not a lot of false alarms. Marks X and K Band areas that are not patrol activated, so after a few visits through those areas, they are marked as such, and ignored on future visits. Highly recommend this, and DO connect to their free initial update service for GPS accuracy on fixed cameras, etc. I don't use the Bluetooth connection to Escort Live (yet), but thinking about it. Very quiet when it needs to be, and fits firm and well on my very slanted windshield. Have a Mercedes SLK with very small back window, but 360 monitoring seems very accurate, thus far. Would buy again. Ka band is nearly perfect with very good range. Wish it came with the Bluetooth (Live) cord, but guess that's their game to get you to spend just a little more money. Pricey equipment, but worth it. Can't compare to other units, as this is the first detector I've had in about 20 years. Did a lot of research though, and this one is the best value, imo. No experience with Laser yet. Factory defaults are best overall settings, except have added speed to the monitor, and abbreviated the Auto settings. I use Waze app (iPhone) also, and recommend that in combination with this unit if you don't want to upgrade to Live.

I love this radar and its GPS memory system. Also it seems to have a longer range in detecting cops ahead of tiem also have the silencing feature on the actually power adapter really is convenient instead of reaching over to your windshield to mute your radar when it goes off

After reading a number of reviews on radar detectors, I settled on this one. It seemed to have a nice feature set at it's price point. I found it on sale at Best Buy and bought it right away. So far it has performed as expected. I would recommend this particular model to someone looking for a very nice radar detector.

    An absolute essential for commuting

As someone who drives a new BMW with a twin-turbo V8, not hard to imagine that a radar detector comes in handy. Working in downtown Indianapolis, the commute to and from my home is a drag. But with this radar detector, I have piece of mind making that commute a little shorter and getting home to my family a little faster. Obviously a radar detector isn't supposed to be an invitation for you to drive like an idiot and put others in danger. With that being said, it's incredible having piece of mind and knowing your hard earned money won't go to a speeding ticket. This detector is absolutely incredible. It is pretty much flawless in picking up all of the different detectors. It is almost too easy to use, just plug it in and after installing the super simple window mount and you're all set! Just be sure to pay close attention in the installation directions so you put the detector in the correct position. I also find it essential that the detector has internal memory so a sensor from something like automatic doors at a convenient store won't send the detector off every time you drive by said convenient store. If you are in the market for buying a radar detector, this 9500ix is the best value and Escort makes the best. Highly recommended.

This escort is by far the best! (I've had half a dozen in 20 years.) I've had this particular radar for two years and bought this one for a friend. I love that it can be updated for a small fee. Well worth it.

    Upgraded from the 8500 x50

Let me start with the fact that the 8500 x50 is a Great Radar Detector! The reason for upgrading to the 9500ix is the GPS for traffic cameras, learning for false detection for say maybe store alarms and other interference. The radar is a smart radar; it learns and tracks the location of these false alerts based on location (GPS) to eliminate those same false alerts in the future (Voice Alert Notification). It also indicates your speed when it detects radar. Purchased this right before my road trip to Atlanta for ImagingUSA 2016. This radar lived up to the hype and more. If you are reading this review; buy the 9500ix...

Upgraded from a few years old passport; this one has great range and notifications. Only thing I don't like so much is the red light camera notifications, but I bet there is a setting to disable it. Other than that little thing, this has already saved me twice; once from over a hill and the other was oncoming interstate that seemed like minutes before I saw the source. Great buy!

Although a,little pricey it is worth it. This radar detector has a built-in GPS and once you've passed a false positive 3 times it stores it and doesn't alert there again. Also, this radar detector is updatable. I was a little put off by the price but I got Best Buy to match Amazon and I got $60 back! I'm glad I made this purchase afterall!

Going from a cheap radar detector that only picked up radar from grocery store parking lots to this beast was amazing. Range is amazing on the highway. In city range is touch and go but will pick up the radar signal. To all who are wondering. IF a cop is running radar it WILL pick it up. But if the cop is not running radar it will not tell you a cop car is near from the flake in the paint. Overall great product and would recommend this to anyone.

Although there are more expensive radars on the market, you will not really find a better product if what you are looking for is great radar detection! The ability to update this radar with various speed traps and red light cameras is a definite plus. Great GPS to show how fast you are traveling as well. I purchased at sale price as an added bonus!

Best Radar Detector for Around Town

My decision was between this and the escort redline. I picked this one over the redline because I do more city driving than highway driving. The redline is better suited for the highway. This radar detector has saved me many of times. I cannot recommend it enough for anyone that either has a lead foot like myself or is an impatient driver. This isn't 100% effective though without a responsible driver who is aware of their surroundings at all times and knows when and when not to speed. Also, it is nice to know what stop lights are red light cameras.

It only takes the Passport 9500IX one round trip of your commute to learn where the false signal transmitters are located. The next day all the door openers, burglar alarms etc. are gone and every signal is real. The range of this thing is fantastic also. I have used radar detectors for over 30 years and this is the best ever.

Escort Passport 9500ix Radar Detector Multi 0109500-3 SKU: 9009048 High priced but the best detector I've owned. Has saved me enough to pay for itself in 2 months. Has provided ample warning. Muting feature friendly on the ears. I don't use the memory function for false alarms because there are not many on my daily route. I read law enforcement personnel reviews, sound like they hate these. I'm still not convinced about the quality of the lazer detection. Time will tell.

This device is simple to setup and use. It seems to be more sensitive than my Passport 8500 was. I used them side-by-side for a while and the 9500 picked up threats a hundred yards or so farther away than the 8500. I'm pretty sure that this device has saved me from at least two tickets so far. The only downside so far is that it picks up collision avoidance and blind spot monitoring radar and doesn't distinguish between it and real threats. This is not a big problem, but it is a bit irritating.

i drive nearly every day, and mostly long distance. This unit is very accurate. I have had an Escort 8500 in the past (Gave it to my nephew 3 years ago , and he is still using it ) I knew the 9500ix would be a good unit, and no doubt it's served its purpose so far. Several options on this model. cool radar!

Have been using this for one moth. The sensitivity is excellent - some times can pick up Ka one half mile away. The only downside is the numerous false alarms. But once you learn the different types of signals you can distinguish between false and positive reading. The lockout feature is great, espeially since you can use the CLA plug to mute and lockout. The windshield mount is a little flimsy, considering the cost of the unit. Will look to upgrade to a better one.
