Customers are saying

Customers enjoy the PASSPORT Max Radar and Laser Detector for its accurate and long-range detection capabilities. They appreciate the early warnings it provides, which have been particularly helpful during road trips. However, some customers find the price to be high and have concerns about the mount on sloped windshields.

Things that I like: 1) performance is exceptional, can detect signal at least 15 seconds ahead, often more. 2) auto remember false signals Things that I don't like 1) Bought it when it is on sale but still quite expensive. 2) if you have more than one car, you will need to buy another windshield mount. The suction cup has adhesives on it, and cannot be removed once it is on the windshield.

I drive 25,000 miles per year and can not afford to have points on my drivers license so a great radar detector is just common sense. This one does a great job detecting radar on all bands, POP and laser. The best feature is the GPS lockout of the same signal in the same place after 3 passes. If you drive on the same routes a frequently you don't have to put up with false alarms which of course is great. The GPS function also allows you to be notified of red light cameras and red light camera speed detection locations, sweet. It has the ability to network with other escort users who push a button but that is not a service that I am using... maybe later.

Best radar detector I have ever owned

This is absolutly the best radar detector I have ever owned. I have been using detectors since 1976. Started with Fuzzbuster 1. I have had them all, over 100 different units and 3,000,000 miles (traveling salesman). Current inventory was Escort Redline and Valentine 1 , both segmented and non segmented. Both latest software. The new Max came with the 1.8 software and the Ka range is unbelievable. I use auto no X mode (auto mode filters out K band lane change radar on Odyssey Touring Elite) and could not be happier. The mount is a little tricky on very sloped windshields. The release button to take the detector down is too far forward and on a very sloped windshield the button is hard to get to. I waited to buy and read the Escort Max forums about this issue and that issue but finally bought one. I absolutly kill Ka, front, back, side or around a curve. And it is so quiet. When it signals Ka its real. I had 2 Valentines and 2 Redlines and they are sold. This is the best by far and I have not even talked about all the other features it has.

I use this for my daily commute, so I am traveling the same roads ten times a week. This radar detector is ideal for my situation, because it literally catalogs data for the routes it travels and uses it ti refine it's operation when on that route again. It also has a feature where any car with the same device who travels a road ahead of me sets an alert for MY device if a speed trap exists on that given day. It also tracks my speed, so it can be used to check a speedometer and you can program it to alert you if you go over your desired speed. It has far more functions that the old radar detectors. I HIGHLY recommend it for anyone needing to avoid tickets, whether by being alerted of the presence of officers, or by reminding you that you are exceeding it.

Awesome unit 360 coverage. Works well with iPhone app. I wish it was smaller. A bit oversized for my liking. Other than that 5stars

Have had cheaper Cobra's but this learns the false readings and with the GPS feature mutes them out after 2-3 times on the same route so when it goes off there is usually active radar etc. Picks up quite a good distance from source allowing time to be sure you are adjusted right. Also the volume related to the speed is great. It is pricey, but would purchase again. Got this for a Mustang Convertible as it is so easy to be faster than you realize, got the Geek Squad to hardwire it in so no clutter from the power port so looks a lot better

So far the radar detector has performed great. But I suspect there is a band that the detector is not picking up. I travel between Washington. DC and NJ and the detector has not. Pick up signals from the state trooper and yet they have stopped cars around me with out my detector going off.

I have not had a radar detector in several years, so I didn't know what expectations I should have after reading the reviews. The first trip I took with the radar detector mounted on my windshield it picked up a KA band from approximately 2 miles away from the police car. I had about given up and assumed it was a fake reading. I just finished a trip through Kansas City, and it picked up several radars long before I spotted them. Great product. Highly recommend if you are a speed demon or just like to drive a bit aggressive.

This radar detector is working well, I just do not know how to get everything set on it, I used it this weekend and I found it did not detect the radar as quickly as I expected. I will get everything set and hopefully I will have more range with it.

Still the top choice. Even with a few things I would change I would not have bought a different radar detector. The GPS functionality in this allows cancellation of redundant false alarms and that is great to have.

This detector works well. I live were there are winding mountain roads and I can catch the laws radar around wooded corners with plenty of time before they can even see me. Out in the open, you have about 1-1.5 seconds to slow down. I Catch radar spraying a mile or so down the Highways usually. Works very well like all escort detectors. I don't drive enough to use all the features that come with it.

The Escort Max has very stylish appearance, but the features are what makes it exceptional, although what maters is how it performs. Here the Passport Max excels. The first thing you notice is the increased range and early alerts, as well as how few false alerts are there. It also warns you of red light cameras and speed traps. I am overall very happy with my purchase, although some may find the price high. But you get what you pay for.

I bought this for a 6 hour road trip, did it in 5 hours. On my way back home, I seen around 8 law enforcement officers and my radar went off way before I could see anything. It gets the job done and i'm considering buying another one for my other vehicle. Over all, I love it.

The Max works great. Not many false positives and it learns the routes as you go. It is very expensive compared to Valentine One and reviews show that V1 is still a better choice. The bitter taste comes from greedy subscription price for live data. Aaannd accessories are really expensive. I don't know if i'd buy it again.

Other than the initial GPS failure which required an exchange (Best Buy took good care of me) this device has been excellent. The early warnings have been great, particularly on a recent long road trip. The unit is pricey, but seem to be well worth it!

Purchased this because of what I drive. First detector was defective. GPS did not work. Would not pick up red light cameras or speed cameras. KA band picked up police far away. Slowed down and kept waiting to find the officer. Picked him up I would guess over a mile away. Exchanged the defective one for another one. Hopefully this one works better!
